The And The Cold Metal Catwalk
Layla let out a sharp screech as she landed beak first on the cold metal catwalk. Looking up from
her embarrassing position, she saw her brother glaring down at her trying hold back a laugh.
"You missed me again!" said Kaar. He couldn't restrain himself any longer and spread his colorful
wings as wide as they could go. The shrill cackling sound that followed echoed throughout the large
corridor the catwalk was suspended in and annoyed Layla to no end.
"Are you done yet?" she asked. Layla was back on her feet now and a single talon was tapping on
the catwalk, a sure sign that her patience was running thin. She couldn't help it, He drove her nuts.
But family is family.
As she recalled, this was how most of their play fights ended. Kaar was ... Show more content on

First one back gets seconds!" And with that, Kaar scurried down the catwalk towards the front of
their home, spreading his wings, jumping, and finally flying low and fast. He would beat her there,
he always did.
Layla scampered at a hurried pace after her brother, thinking about the world, like always.
Later that night as the lights all across their home dimmed, signifying night, Layla and Kaar hopped
up onto their roosts to get some rest. They roosted next to each other, as they had done as far back as
Layla could remember, and supposedly since they were even hatchlings.
It's always the same thing. Every day. Wake up, eat, study, play, eat, sleep.
It had not even been five minutes and Kaar was already asleep at this point. His beak was wide open
and his wings were slacked. Layla quickly pecked him in the side to get his attention. The resulting
jolt, accompanied by a shrill squawk, rocked the roost violently and Layla nearly fell off from the
shaking of the support below her.
"What do you want!? I was sleeping."
"I had no idea" she gave him a sarcastic thousand–yard–stare. Doofus. "I want to talk."
"Can't it wait till the morning?" His wings were already starting to relax at his sides again.
"Please? It's been bugging me for a while."
"Alright" He blinked a few times, and sat up straight, trying to stay awake. "What is it?"
"Don't you think our home is a little weird?"

The Empty Corridor As A Tall Slender Woman
Planes Footsteps echoed down the empty corridor as a tall, slender woman made her way towards a
certain room. Though having walked down here many times, the eerie, cold feeling of the building
sent visible shivers down her spine. The alabaster walls had a tinge of grey and it seemed that no
matter how many people were present, this could not hold even the slightest touch of warmth. She
stopped short in front of the familiar wooden door. Raising a hand, she rapped gently three times
before unlocking the door and pushing it open. The room was dark, saved for the soft glow of the
moonlight that flooded in. The woman looked around the spacious room before her attention finally
landed on the lonesome figure in a corner. It was a boy no more than six years old. His blonde hair
was slightly dishevelled and covered his eyes. His eyes – they were different from the usual kids his
age. Rather than holding a cheerful and mischievous glint in them, they were glassy and hallow. He
stared unblinkingly at the woman at the doorway and though she did not outwardly show it, it
unsettled her. She could feel the hairs at the back of her neck stand on end and a cold sweat starting
to form but she swallowed and forced a smile as best as she could. 'Jerome,' she called gently, 'it's
bed time.' The little boy turned, eyes focusing on what he was doing prior to the woman entering.
His eyes small fingers gripped tightly onto the model plane he was playing with, but obediently, he

Crown Of Life Research Paper
The ability to become young again, live forever, and to heal any wound has been discovered in
1991! Ron and Tom are archaeologists from Australia, and their latest mission is to retrieve the
Crown of Life from the Tomb of Neferkheperuhersekheper located in Egypt. Whoever wears the
Crown of Life will become young, never die, and heal you whenever you get hurt. Ron and Tom
arrived at the entrance to the tomb. They put on their packs filled to the brim with their gear. The
map showed that there were four corridors leading to the podium holding the Crown of Life. Ron
and Tom rolled over the boulder blocking the first corridor. They saw that there are tiles on the
ground, and if you stepped on the wrong one, you would fall into a bottomless pit. ... Show more

They cautiously walked through it. As Tom turned around, Steve noticed that Tom walked into a
tripwire that activated a trap that threw spears. Steve quickly pushed Tom out of harm's way, but
didn't have enough time to completely get himself out of danger. The spear grazed his left shoulder,
but luckily no fatal damage occurred. Tom quickly took out the first aid kit out of his pack and
wrapped gauze around Steve's shoulder to stop the bleeding. As soon as Steve felt better, they
continued to the room containing the treasure. They saw the podium with the Crown of Life inside a
glass container. They both breathlessly walked up, and as soon as they were about to remove the
glass case, everything went dark. Esteban, the tomb robber, took the back of his flashlight and
knocked both Steve and Tom out. He tied them both together, and quickly scurried out of the tomb.
Steve and Tom scooted over and sat down on the glass case, shattering it into hundreds of pieces.
They would then take the biggest piece, and cut themselves free. After, they dashed out of the tomb.
They quickly got back into their jeep, and got out the thermal scanner from their trunk. Thier
scanner showed two life forms about a few miles away. Steve and Tom thought that Esteban had a
partner. They drove as fast as the jeep allowed to try to catch up to them. After a few hours, they
finally saw that they stopped. Steve and Tom followed Esteban and his partner into a

The Inside A Long Corridor
I stared in wonder, inside was a long corridor, lit by a glowing light, to the left were weapon racks
and to the right was an alchemy lab. Beyond that to the left was an underground bathing pool with 5
built in seats, continually refilled by water streaming in from above. Opposite this were a full set of
forging, smelting and weapon crafting gear, beyond that was an alchemy table and a set of empty
book shelves. I was in love with the place already and determined it would be my home. Opening a
locked door at the end of the hall revealed a bed in the middle of the room, several chests and to one
side a kitchen area and the other were wardrobes. Behind the bed was further water falling gently
from the ceiling and draining away through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact my legs were held at right angle meant it was unlikely I would be moved out of position. I
uncapped one of the bottles of "monster residue" and briefly inhaled before sealing the jar. Within
seconds my pussy was moist and lubricated enough that I could start the machine, a few drops fell
into the bucket below. With that I unlocked the brake, within seconds the shaft moved against my
crotch, licking at my sensitive lips a dozen times every second. Animalistic moans echoed from me
as I was overwhelmed by ecstasy. As I moaned in bliss, my shapely breasts danced to the rhythm of
the machine, my navel clenched and relaxed in the throes of each climax. I felt flushed and was
perspiring, I slipped my hands into the loops and crested heavenly wave after heavenly wave while
thinking will I be able to bring myself to stop the machine? Or will I just be pleasured until I am too
weak to move? My voluptuous figure squirming helplessly driven by the unquenchable fire in my
loins, my moans sounded incredibly loud to my ears but couldn't be heard over the sounds of falling
water. As I lay there floating, I mused it should be easier to recruit other suppliers if the business
really takes off. But the mead we are making will take at least a month to ferment, so for now I can
probably manage, down to the fact I produce far more I'm certain than most women do. As the torch
went out that as my signal, I reluctantly unhooked one

Meeting A Hero
Meeting a Hero
It was hot in Oklahoma City. The concert had been terrific. Steven and his dad, Rudy, would never
forget being in the same room as one of the greatest blues musicians of all time. They had heard
rumours that, if you waited around the artist's entrance long enough after a show, Isaac Smith would
eventually allow you to come in and meet him. Steven and Rudy were in no hurry. So, they decided
to wait.
Steven passed the time by checking to make sure his camera was in working order. Rudy wanted an
opportunity to have his picture taken with his hero; Steven wanted to take advantage of the
opportunity. An hour and a half passed. Just when Steven was about to suggest they give up, the
artist's entrance door opened. A large man in a black suit announced, "Mr. Smith will see you now."
The corridor to the dressing room was barely wide enough to accommodate one person standing in
the middle. The security guard instructed the group to form a single–file line against one wall. "We
can only let in two at a time. The room is small," he said. Steven's heart sank. He was fourth in line
and Dad was fifth. They wouldn't be able to get in at the same time and Dad wouldn't get his photo.
That's when the man standing third in line said, "He's going to see all of us. Take my spot and then
you and your dad can go in together." It was a huge relief.
A couple of minutes went by and the security guard ushered Steven and Rudy into the dressing
room. In front of their eyes was Isaac Smith

Feasibility Study For Modernization Of The Eastern Railway...
The inability of Ivoirian firms to obtain suitable industrial land has become a binding constraint on
the country's economic growth and a primary impediment to the Government of Cote d'Ivoire's
(GOCI) effort to increase industrial GDP to well above its current 22%. In the second quarter of
2013, the utilization rate of industrial capacity stood at 67.9% for Cote d'Ivoire . This will in turn
increase the competitiveness of its economy. The GOCI now recognizes the tremendous economic
costs of poor industrial land governance and inefficient industrial land markets and, consequently,
has proposed concrete activities to address this constraint under Cote d'Ivoire's first MCC Compact.

by Expressway No.1 with 1250 km long, the rote 2 sections and 10 parts; Southern with 510 km &
Western with 455 km. This corridor is considerate as one of the longest routes in the Middle East
and one of the most important highways in Iraq.
Most of the expressway adjacent land along the road is owned by the Government, except some
farms and installations owned by private. There are 176 official and private installations and
adjoining to this expressway; many of them are assembling randomly on the right of way. These
installations include; Police posts, Army posts, check points, Commercial (stand–alone) privately
owned rest areas. Formal rest areas with integrated services, Small and fragmented shops, some of
which are informal and unlicensed and farms or state leased lands.
Most of the installations include medium or bad partial services like restaurants and shops. Many
restaurants moved from the city to the area of the express way to follow traffic. In fact, Informal and
illegal service stations are now dominating service delivery and they are very close to road and
cannot be moved back because of obstacles behind it parking, especially of trucks needs

The Road Corridor As An Important Area For Future...
In 2006, The City of East Lansing referred to The Trowbridge Road Corridor as an important area
for future redevelopment in their "Big Picture" Comprehensive Plan. Being a main route to East
Lansing and Michigan State University it allows high visibility and access to and from the
surrounding neighborhoods. In order to encourage future development in this area, most of the
properties along that corridor needed to be redeveloped. Review for this project began in 2007. Due
to the original design for the car–oriented area, the corridor and the surrounding land did not
perfectly complement each other. The addition of numerous curb cuts and disjointed interior vehicle
connections increased the dysfunction between cars and pedestrians. Pedestrian safety, highway and
train noise, conditions of the parking lot, heavy pass–through traffic, depth of the parcels south of
Trowbridge, and lack of marketing focus are a few of the preexisting weaknesses of the site. River
Caddis Developing is the firm responsible for the development of the Trowbridge Village. River
Caddis development has acquired developed and/or redeveloped around two hundred million dollars
of multifamily and commercial assets in states throughout the country (McGraw, 2015). This project
alone reached close to 17 million dollars. Trowbridge Village offers students unique and new places
to shop and dine in the convenience of their backyard. In total the village stretches to almost 47,000
square feet. Trowbridge Lofts

The Natural Communities Conservation Planning (NCCP) Act...
The Natural Communities Conservation Planning (NCCP) Act of 1991 and California
The Natural Communities Conservation Planning (NCCP) Act of 1991 was established by the
California Legislature, is directed by the Department of Fish and Game, and is being implemented
by the state, and public and private partnerships to protect habitat in California1. As opposed to the
single species interpretation of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), this act aims at protecting many
species using a regional approach to habitat preservation. Douglas Wheeler has written a nice
synopsis of the NCCP within the context of the history of conservation of habitat. The NCCP is a
program that is meant to have voluntary multi–stakeholder cooperation in planning, ... Show more

Whole–habitat preservation suggested in the NCCP will, hopefully, incorporate the necessary
elements for adequate protection of a species, allowing it to thrive in its habitat with the other
organisms that it usually shares space with.
The NCCP is designed to allow Orange County and participating counties the opportunity to
develop plans for saving what remains of the CSS among the existing development. In this process
counties are asked to account for future urban and farming development. Stakeholder participation is
important in this process for obtaining input from various sectors of the community. Businesses and
cities can come forward with plans for future expansion and development, managers of habitat can
come forward with goals and limitations of the habitat and scientists can come forward with
recommendations for size and structure of habitat and ideas for restoration to enhance corridors
between habitat.
The NCCP planning program will be implemented in large parts of Orange County, in parts of San
Diego County and in portions of Riverside County. The main areas of interest for this issue paper
are located in Orange County and are referred to as Coastal Subarea Reserve and Central Subarea
Reserve. Coastal Subarea Reserve is located in the San Joaquin Hills area of Orange County. Central
Subarea Reserve is located within the unincorporated county jurisdiction2.
The funding for the development of the NCCP comes from several sources. Landowners

Evaluation Of A Risk Corridor
For clarification a risk corridor is a formed idea that if insurance companies rake in higher cost than
expected the government will reimburse the insurer to a certain percentage. As an example, if an
insurer's actual claims in 2014 are at least 3% greater than the claims projected when the insurer set
2014 rates, the government must reimburse the insurer for half of the excess (Radnofsky, 2014). On
top of that, if total claims jump 8% the government would be liable for 80% of the excess costs. This
is a really risky move because the unhealthy population with insurance could be extremely costly.
The risk corridors gave third party payers the re–insurance by providing insurance to all parties.
These insurers in 2015 needed massive bailouts from the government for substantial losses reaching
2.5 billion. This can become an increasing expense over the years. Most of all the taxpayers will be
on the hook for these enormous losses, while funding private shareholder owned insurance
companies. The main issue at hand was the Department of Health and Human Services didn't pay
the full percentage that was applicable under the risk corridor, which bankrupt some insurance
providers. These small changes slowly deteriorate the free exchange market the affordable care act
was built upon. The CEO Kelly Crowe of National Alliance stated "few businesses can sustain hits
like the CO–OPs and other small and new insurance companies have endured" because of the
federal government's

A Study of the Trans-Texas Corridor and How it Affects...
A Study of the Trans–Texas Corridor and How it Affects Texans
Everything is bigger in Texas. That's what a lot of Texans what Americans and people around the
world to know – you don't mess with Texas. In the 1950's, when President Eisenhower created the
first Interstate plan for the country and implemented new roads in almost every single state, it was
the largest engineering feat in the modern world. Now, almost half a century later, Governor Rick
Perry is set to break that record, with the costliest, largest, and most incredible–sized proportion

Laredo contains 40% of the United States land–ship import traffic. Also, any traveler on the I–35
corridor in Texas runs into hundreds of eighteen–wheelers, increasing drivers awareness and causing
disarray for drivers who are trying to see the road in front of them. Perry's answer is to shift the
traffic away from metropolitan areas. If truck drivers can bypass San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas,
the time to their destination would probably save them an entire day in travel. Freight rail services
could veer away from San Antonio's railroad yard, an institution bustling with activity in the wee
hours of the morning. Also, commuter rail can solve environmental problems and help families keep
in touch anywhere in the state without the over–burdening costs of driving (Perry). Perry's plan
begins with the setup itself: Six, twelve–foot vehicle passenger lanes in which the vehicle can travel
at 80 miles per hour; Four, thirteen foot truck lanes; Two tracks for each of the following railroad
establishments – high speed rail, commuter rail, and freight rail. No transportation facility exists like
this in the modern world. All of these integrations to modern society are completely bundled into
one, and their concept is all the same – relieve traffic in urban centers and create a safe and
enjoyable experience through the Texas countryside without interruption

The Negative Impacts Of Gentrification : Causes And Cons
Recently Denver Colorado has gone through a dramatic increase of new residents, causing many
communities to be hurt by gentrification. The definition of Gentrification according to
dictionary.com means, "the buying and renovation of houses and stores in deteriorated urban
neighborhoods by upper– or middle–income families or individuals, thus improving property values
but often displacing low–income families and small businesses." This definition alone proves that
gentrification can have a negative impact. Although many people will overlook the negative impact
because the positive can be a much more luxurious way of living. Yes, there are good things that
come out of gentrification such as an increase in school quality or drops in crime are usually
reflected in home prices. At the end of the day the negative outcomes outweigh the positive such as
displaced youth, historical landmarks demolished, high level of vacancy rate in newly built
apartments. Allowing gentrification to continue at this speed may result in the lower middle class to
disappear. Which is why we must work together to decrease gentrification so that citizens have a
chance at the best life possible.
With all these new residents moving into Denver it is causing established residents to become
displaced because they can no longer afford to live in the new upscale community that has just been
built. After living in a home all their lives children start to become displaced with their families and
begin to move

A Short Story : A Story?
Craig shifted in his seat; the wooden chair was so uncomfortable. He was in a corridor, lined with
identical chairs occupied by more young men of about his age. The corridor smelled like polish and
floor cleaner, and was painted a dull grey and cream. A few feet away stood a tough looking soldier,
immaculately dressed in a dark green uniform and carrying a large wooden cane. Every few minutes
a light bulb hanging above a doorway would flash, a buzzer would sound and the soldier jabbed the
man sitting closest to him with his cane.
Craig heard the buzzer yet again and saw the flashing light reflected on the wall opposite. The
soldier turned to the nearest young man and prodded him in the middle of his chest with the cane.
"You ––– in there," he said. Craig had heard him use that phrase repeatedly.
The young man in question stood up and opened the door as the others before him had done. He
went inside and the door closed.
"Move up!" shouted the soldier, another frequently repeated instruction.
The man now nearest to the soldier stood up and moved to the vacated chair. Everyone else in the
line followed suit, moving nearer to his fate. Craig was now only two chairs away from the door, the
sinking sensation in his stomach intensified and he started to bite his fingernails. The man ahead of
him in the queue did not seem to know what to do with his hands; he put them on his head, under his
chin, behind his neck, on his knees and in his lap.

Summary Of ' The Rooftop Of The Creek '
Mary split with Lovienthal and Steaks as they left the rooftop in search of Laura and Pamela. She
wanted to inform them of the zombies breaching the creek, and to help gather the children because it
looked imperative that they would be leaving the school immediately. Steaks and Lovienthal set off
for the bus garage to get Albert. They both hoped that he, Johnny, and the McAllisters had made it
farther along in their fortification of a couple of buses than what the time had allotted them to work.
When Mary found Laura she was in the teachers' lounge with Sarah and Pamela playing a board
game. Mary quickly and frantically told them what had happened. A wave of panic than set over
Laura leaving her speechless and visibly shaking. Pamela stepped up and told her to take Sarah and
go with Mary to the gymnasium to retrieve her sons and the other children. After that they should
meet back at the cafeteria where she would be with James packing up supplies. Laura still stood
frozen and Pamela had to snap at her yelling, "Go now!" in order to get her to break out of her
coma–like state. Laura then grabbed her daughter by her arm, and together with Mary they ran for
the gym. As soon as Pamela left the teachers' lounge she ran into Blake and Mitch. They had seen
the McAllisters leave the school and then return in Albert's golf cart with a subsequent mass of the
living dead giving chase to them. Pamela told them she was on her way to gather James and

The Awakening Of The Dark Corridor
Shattering across the floor, glass shards fly everywhere and the door creaks from no distinct origin,
all common occurrences of the tale tell signs of the supernatural, who haunt by creeping behind the

humans the thirst for discovering the unknown lurks inside. To quench thrillers thirst without actual
confrontation, The Awakening takes viewers into a spaceous, eerie boarding school that used to be a
private mansion. This ghost movie derives from typical characteristics of the subgenre haunted
houses. Unexpected sounds, intense music, and a ghostly monster scare the viewer as this movie
plays out, but the twist is finding out the monster is not the ghost. The Awakening's twist in plot
allows the movie to surpass the layout of a haunted house movie by making the movie more
interesting, suprising to the viewer. To begin, haunted movie's subgenre characters usually come in
five types known as the skeptic, the ghost or spirit, the defender, the instigator, and the outsider. Mr.

Analysis Of The Poem ' Wha '
A FRANTIC banging awoke the mare from her peaceful slumber, eliciting a great yawn as she
raised her muzzle slowly up into the air, stretching out her wings and wincing until she heard them
click, relief spreading through her body. Then looking up to the window of her own little bedroom–
which was made even smaller by the clutter around the unpainted cobble walls–she groaned as she
saw the betraying blackness of the night and rolled back over, murmuring, "Wha 's 'matter?"
Hearing no response for a few seconds, she smiled and nestled deeper under the cover, sighing as
the warmth surrounded her body. She had no chance of returning to sleep, however, as the harsh

Capitalism In Utah
1. Utah is both a product of the times in which it emerged but also a unique entity that worked to
shape its own future. Robbins and Malone both describe how the west, and by a large extent Utah is
a part of the great narrative of the American West and sometimes differing from it entirely. By
exploring the different facets and predominant activities of 1850's and beyond we can find clues as
to the origins and ultimate fate of the region . By exploring Western American capitalism, various
functions of manifest destiny, and how settlers adhered to the frontier pioneer spirit we can learn the
overall narrative in which the region participates.

If the thing was one pragmatic to be done, then the most immediate, rough and ready, effective way
was the best way. Utah settlers followed this model, although with less personal autonomy and more
respect for religious authority in worldly matters.7 Mormon settlers followed this idea in the "spirit"
of the law rather than the "letter" of the law in forging their new identity out west. It followed from
the lack of organized political life in the backwoods society, that the individual was exalted and
given free play. The West was another name for opportunity. Here were mines to be seized, fertile
valleys to be claimed; all the natural resources open to the shrewdest and the boldest. The United
States is unique in the extent to which the individual has been given an open field, unchecked by
restraints of an old social order, or of restrictions of government.8 The self–made man was the
Western man's ideal, was the kind of man that all men might become. Out of his wilderness
experience, out of the freedom of his opportunities, he fashioned a formula for social regeneration,
the freedom of the individual to seek his own. This also was the way of the Utah early settler which
was effectively a country unto itself.9 Without hindrances settlers claimed the Salt Lake Valley and
made it their own in the manner which they saw fit, relying only on their own better judgment and

Narrative Essay On Panther House
"Thanks all!" Ms. Schwarck yells as everyone runs out the door and races to their cars to check their
Instagram and Snapchat. However, I trudge with my heavy backpack to Panther House where Mrs.
Kenny greets me, puts me on her checklist of students that have been checked in and asks me, "Can
you please help me with some filing at 4:40 PM? I can give you a service hour." Knowing that I
need a service hour, I decide to help her. I grab a snack, sit down and talk with some other Jr. High
kids that have rambled through the door. Some small children wave at me as all the kids rush
outside. Very tired from a vigorous day at school, I sit down on the benches under the church
awning and await to help Mrs. Kenny. Suddenly, a man dressed in all white and carrying a vacuum,
walks past me, strolls through the parking lot, and sprints into the school. Probably some new
janitor, I say to myself. Abruptly, Mrs. Kenny taps me on my shoulder and takes me inside to help
her. She begins to write in some folders while I read a picture book and, in awkward silence, wait
for something to do. "You know what I need?" she says quickly as I jump up from my chair, "I need
one of those blue carts that they have in the St. Perpetua Room." I respond with a slightly nervous

Year 10 Narrative
As I neared the back gates of St Aloysius College, I realised that very early morning, it was not a
normal and comparable year 9 school day. It was actually the first frightening, yet fascinating, day
of year 10. All nerves and thoughts considered, Mum pulled up to the carpark and I exited the car.
My school bag weighed as if I was carrying a pile of bricks inside of it, and yet this feeling is as
familiar as an old friend, it did not stop me from discovering my new year 10 class, only the nerves
did.
After I strolled my way through the school, the year 10 building stood right in front of me. I walked
anxiously up the stairs and got a glimpse of the stretched corridor. When I attained the top floor
where the year 10 classes were located, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this loud time, I walked around a tight corner and to my surprise, I saw my best friend
Annabelle. We had an amusing conversation, which mostly consisted of holiday reflections. Then,
the conversation turned school–related. This was when I realised that Annabelle was not placed in
my class!
About 10 minutes later, after a nice chat, the bell rang. I hugged Annabelle goodbye and started to
slowly make my way back to 10EB. I settled into my seat and I looked around the classroom. I
noticed some new faces that I had never seen before around St Aloysius College. However, there
was one face I did not see, and that was Adelaine's face. I started to think about how I would be as
sweet as pie towards her this year and I hoped for the best that she would return the favour.
Meanwhile, my teacher blabbered on and on all about the dull classroom expectations that never
prevail towards the end of any school year. The blabbering continued until footsteps were heard
entering into the class. I looked at the entrance's general vicinity and I saw no one other than
Adelaine walk inside. I heard her softly apologise to our teacher for being late and she soon seated

Themes of Stones Into Schools Essay
Themes from Stones into Schools
The institution of education in many regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan is virtually nonexistent.
Many girls don't have access to schools (Stones into Schools p.4) and those that do usually don't
graduate from high school. While Greg Mortenson's Stones into Schools and the documentary The
Miseducation of Pakistan deal with two different areas, they both show many similar themes. One
major recurring theme that is evident in both Stones into Schools and The Miseducation of Pakistan
is the suppression of women. Both works discussed how women in the region had traditionally been
discouraged from attending school or entering the workplace. The Taliban was especially opposed to
women's rights. When the Taliban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mountains are so high that transportation in the region is very difficult. The air can be so thin
that some of the farmers in the Hindu Kush region have to slice their donkey's nostrils open so that
they can breathe easier due to the thin air (Stones into Schools p.27). The extreme terrain is a major
obstacle for creating schools in the region, which is why the government didn't build any there.
Some winters in that area can last from September to June, making all transportation even more
difficult. Pakistan is experiencing a similar problem. Many regions in Pakistan are geographically
isolated by various geographic features and poor roads. Thus, remote areas are more difficult to
access and build schools in. A third theme that comes up is crime and violence. Mortenson discusses
how many dealings involve heroin dealers and conflict stricken areas. The schools that Mortenson's
organization built in the Kashmir region of Pakistan had to be outfitted with pitched metal roofs to
deflect fallout from Indian artillery shells (Stones into Schools p.37). He also discusses the Taliban's
violent takeover of the previous government in Afghanistan as well as many of their excessively
violent and cruel punishments for violation of their laws. The Miseducation of Pakistan depicts this
theme as well. One school in Pakistan that was depicted in the video couldn't have their classes in
the classrooms because criminals were using them to store guns and drugs, so

Tiverton Road and Wolverton Street Corridor Improvement
Faculty of Technology and Built Environment
Introduction
We were asked by our Highway engineering lecturer to write a report about a current or previous
project listed on the Auckland transport site. After a research on the site, I have chosen to write
about Tiverton road Wolverton street corridor improvement.
Tiverton road and Wolverton Street, play a major role in linking the suburbs of New Lynn and New
Windsor. The 2.2km stretch of road carries an average of 31400 vehicles per day. And a two lane
addition was required to allow for the ease of travel and safer environment for both motorist and
pedestrian users. The project has been given less than 2 years to be completed starting in 2014.
Background
Back in 1920's, the work had started in developing an arterial road that helped link west Auckland
with its central suburbs. The 2.2km stretch of road added great commercial and residential benefits
in linking and intersecting with major roads in the area.
On September 2012, the road works started after a site blessing held by local iwi Ngāti Whātua
Ōrākei and Ngaitai–ki–tamaki in conjunction with Auckland Transport and Downer NZ.
Problem statement
With the increased traffic flow caused by the popularity of the road and the current motorway
extension to Maioro Street, the road required widening to lower traffic jams during rush hours.
Moreover, with the increase of residents in the area, the street required safer and better utilities such
as safer footpaths,

You Can Hear Him From The Corridor
You can hear him from the corridor. Neil Young is kicked back on a lounge chair in the focal point
of his suite at New York 's Carlyle Hotel one late morning, cutting without end at the series of his
acoustic guitar. His wet hair is brushed back and he 's wearing a T–shirt that says "Earth," with pants
and shoes. He puts his beat–up 1940s Martin – past proprietor: Hank Williams – by him on the sofa.
"Take a seat, make yourself at home," he says. Simply then, his Samsung telephone rings; the
ringtone is his own particular voice yelling "Hi?!" He grabs – a wrong number. "I 'll simply turn it
off, that 'll comprehend it." Youthful is amidst a fast New York trip, and, as is regular for him, his
calendar is perpetually moving. He simply chose to do a portrayal on The Tonight Show,
constraining his group to cross out a few meetings today. Before Young are verses to the drama bit, a
melody called "Two Neil Youngs Sitting on a Tree Stump," sent to him by Jimmy Fallon. Youthful
doesn 't care for singing his own particular name, so he 's been tweaking the words with assistance
from his administrator, Elliot Roberts. "You 're going to get a credit on this one," Young says to
Roberts with a grin. Roberts, 73, has worked with Young since the late Sixties, and the two still talk
a few times each day. "I 've never seen him more content," Roberts says. That is a late advancement,
nonetheless. In the previous couple of years, a few of Young 's nearby buddies passed on, including

The Negative Effects Of Gentrification
Gentrification Gentrification is the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that is
conforms to middle class taste. The term is often used negatively, suggesting the displacement of
poor communities by rich outsiders. Often people who are displaced cannot find affordable housing,
and this can lead to homelessness. Gentrification is hurting Colorado families because 1.) it causes
prices increases for Denver metro rents, 2.) it displaces and breaks up families, and 3.) offers no
affordable housing options for those displaced. () Definition. They kick people out of their house
and then they raise the rent so they can't come back, they target specifically poor neighborhoods to
make more money. One of the biggest impact is that it may destroy the culture of the neighborhood
and friends and family have a chance of turning homeless. One of the main reasons is to make more
money on the neighborhood because its to poor and they need to make more money. (4, June 2017)
(Wikipedia)The term is usually used negatively.
The first piece is the term and the definition. The second piece is the impact on friends, family, and
culture. I think ____________________ because I think that gentrification is still getting worst and
worst every day, The reason being is that the rent is always increasing and hasn't stopped yet. The
impacts are that the population decreases in gentrified areas. And the ones who left are struggling to
find a new home. Some evidence is that globeville saw an increase of 67% in home values in the last
year, more people from out of the states come to denver colorado and don't mind paying the rent
here because they don't live here. Due to the new marijuana law and how it was first legal in
colorado made people from around the states move to colorado which increased the population and
which increased the rent cost. It is getting worst and worst because the rent is constantly increasing
over the years and that makes the low income people struggle and then later on can lead
homelessness, and struggle to find a new home. The population is also increasing with more people
from other states so they don't really mind paying high rents simply because they haven't been here

Corridors Of Migration Summary
"Corridors of Migration," is about the odyssey of Mexican laborers during the period of 19600–
1933. The book written by Rodolfo Acuna starts with the Spanish conquest of the America, portrays
the factors that influenced Mexicans to migrate to the United States as well as the factors that
pushed Mexicans out of the U.S. labor strikes and the corridors taken by Mexicans and their
families. The aspects that influenced people to move can be seen as push, pull, and nativism that
occurred due to the cause and effect of reactions of social and economic issues such as the Mexican
Revolution of 1910, World World I, and mines as well as commercial agriculture. Moreover, the
book illustrates strikes from the earliest in Arizona to the 1933 San Joaquin Valley Cotton Strike. In
addition, Acuna shows the different corridors of Mexican Laborers and their families who struggle
from the seventeenth–century in Chihuahua to the twentieth–century California and how they fought

Smith views gentrification as a negative thing, and a "product of political economic shifts in local
and global markets (Smith pp.92)". He notes that this revanchist or French for Revenge city theme
aggressively re–claims the city and tries to re–infuse the city with middle–class morals, standards
and costs. Gentrification also experiences a pattern of what many note as consumption in which
those with the sweat equity such as the LGBT community but some such as Rose (1984) suggested
that first wave gentrifiers were of small means, but were able to carve out spaces and enclaves of
sage space based on sweat equity Smith (1996) reintroduces the notion of the rent gap in

Knopp (1990) analyzes the significance of gays in the gentrification process in New Orleans,

Worn out from spending ages getting Gawain settled into his bedchamber, Perceval lumbered down
the castle corridor and made it to his door. Carefully, he entered his quarters and took a quick glance
around the room; it was empty. His wife and their baby might be visiting with Carina, or Joan might
have taken Percy along on a patient visit.
Joan was an apprentice to Pawl, the Court Healer, and she had just started seeing a few patients
again here and there eight weeks after Percy's birth. Perceval would never stand in the way of his
wife's ambition to be a healer, but he worried about her returning to her duties so soon after having

had a right to be so blessed.
Relaxed, Perceval's thoughts drifted to the last time he and Joan had sex, which had been right
before Percy's birth. Other knights complained to him sex with a pregnant spouse was awkward and
some did not care for it, and went so far as to visit the bawdy house instead, but Perceval thought
they were all mad. Pregnant, Joan had been more gorgeous than ever, with her breasts full and that

about it that was hard to define.
Now, she lamented she looked like a "deflated pig's bladder" after birth, but Perceval declared that
was madness. There was a slight softness to her lower belly, but she had carried his child and given

A Short Story : A Story?
Hellene took the keys by the tips of her fingers, making sure not to brush against the peeling skin of
the guard. "Thank you," she mouthed as she squeezed past them. She scurried down the stairs, her

She knew full well about her mother's cape, spies told her of their every move. Not that she cared.
Not that she watched every move they made. Hellene definitely didn't care that much. She hung her

forgiveness and understanding in return. Damn her.
But if her intelligence proved to be true, what would she do with the baby? She kicked open the
door and instead of finding a fresh corpse, pale and ready for decay, she found a pink faced
newborn, eyes closed tight and feet kicking. Her little fists opened and closed as if she were

floors, still damp from the last flood. The clothes that Zosime had worn when she was sent to this

however, Keshishian is unable to use any other shot because of the theatrics of the performance.
Madonna herself acknowledges that her tour is like going to the theater, but as much as Keshishian

Wildlife Corridor Essay
Abstract
Proponents of the wildlife corridor concept suggest that by connecting otherwise isolated portions of
habitat, species benefit through gaining access to a larger gene pool, thus increasing their chances of
reproductive success. Despite the popularisation of this idea over the last several decades, a lack of
long–term scientific research has led some to question this assumption.
Factors including the territorial, mating and migration behaviours of individual species of animal as
well as the lengths and breadths of corridors are all assumed to influence the effect of a corridor
individually. As such, a specific corridor may assist in defragmenting the population of one species,
but may not affect another in any significant way.
The vast tracts of land required by wildlife corridors make a considered assessment of their assumed
benefits an absolute necessity.
Introduction
The following paper aims to critique assumptions commonly made about wildlife corridors and to
assess claims that they make a significant impact to the defragmentation of wildlife populations.
Information from a variety of sources will be assessed in terms of its accuracy and relevance in an
attempt to determine if wildlife corridors are an effective method to increase localised biodiversity
levels. After key evidence both in favour against the concept has been presented, any relevant ideas
will be synthesised into a recommendation made at the end of the paper.

Pure Contempt Is Not For Free

visible from the craters in the gold paint. I scratched the surface and a large chunk of the fake golden
paint fell to the land. The person manning the junk glowered at me. I shrugged and put the trophy
back. "Do you know that this piece of junk has my name carved on it?" I asked, amused. The man

neighbourhood. I went last Sunday, but didn't found anything of use. Today, I did. A look of pure
contempt was coming from his small eyes. If I demanded for the trophy, he could have done
nothing. He would have had to return it to me. "No, sir" He repeated himself, "It is not for free." I
smiled. I was not going to argue. My gaze went back to the trophy. Amidst all the junk, it was one
piece that was attached to me. Funny, how we throw things that we feel are no longer attached to us
and suddenly when we see it again, we remember why we loved it in the first place. On the one side
of the trophy, set on the table, was a small used comb. A weird mixture of grey, black and white hair
was sticking out from it. One thin strand of the hair was touching my trophy. Yes, my trophy. I could

The And The Cold Metal Catwalk

  • 1. The And The Cold Metal Catwalk Layla let out a sharp screech as she landed beak first on the cold metal catwalk. Looking up from her embarrassing position, she saw her brother glaring down at her trying hold back a laugh. "You missed me again!" said Kaar. He couldn't restrain himself any longer and spread his colorful wings as wide as they could go. The shrill cackling sound that followed echoed throughout the large corridor the catwalk was suspended in and annoyed Layla to no end. "Are you done yet?" she asked. Layla was back on her feet now and a single talon was tapping on the catwalk, a sure sign that her patience was running thin. She couldn't help it, He drove her nuts. But family is family. As she recalled, this was how most of their play fights ended. Kaar was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First one back gets seconds!" And with that, Kaar scurried down the catwalk towards the front of their home, spreading his wings, jumping, and finally flying low and fast. He would beat her there, he always did. Layla scampered at a hurried pace after her brother, thinking about the world, like always. Later that night as the lights all across their home dimmed, signifying night, Layla and Kaar hopped up onto their roosts to get some rest. They roosted next to each other, as they had done as far back as Layla could remember, and supposedly since they were even hatchlings. It's always the same thing. Every day. Wake up, eat, study, play, eat, sleep. It had not even been five minutes and Kaar was already asleep at this point. His beak was wide open and his wings were slacked. Layla quickly pecked him in the side to get his attention. The resulting jolt, accompanied by a shrill squawk, rocked the roost violently and Layla nearly fell off from the shaking of the support below her. "What do you want!? I was sleeping." "I had no idea" she gave him a sarcastic thousand–yard–stare. Doofus. "I want to talk." "Can't it wait till the morning?" His wings were already starting to relax at his sides again. "Please? It's been bugging me for a while." "Alright" He blinked a few times, and sat up straight, trying to stay awake. "What is it?" "Don't you think our home is a little weird?" "What do you mean? It seems alright to me, I mean, we grow nuts and berries on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Empty Corridor As A Tall Slender Woman Planes Footsteps echoed down the empty corridor as a tall, slender woman made her way towards a certain room. Though having walked down here many times, the eerie, cold feeling of the building sent visible shivers down her spine. The alabaster walls had a tinge of grey and it seemed that no matter how many people were present, this could not hold even the slightest touch of warmth. She stopped short in front of the familiar wooden door. Raising a hand, she rapped gently three times before unlocking the door and pushing it open. The room was dark, saved for the soft glow of the moonlight that flooded in. The woman looked around the spacious room before her attention finally landed on the lonesome figure in a corner. It was a boy no more than six years old. His blonde hair was slightly dishevelled and covered his eyes. His eyes – they were different from the usual kids his age. Rather than holding a cheerful and mischievous glint in them, they were glassy and hallow. He stared unblinkingly at the woman at the doorway and though she did not outwardly show it, it unsettled her. She could feel the hairs at the back of her neck stand on end and a cold sweat starting to form but she swallowed and forced a smile as best as she could. 'Jerome,' she called gently, 'it's bed time.' The little boy turned, eyes focusing on what he was doing prior to the woman entering. His eyes small fingers gripped tightly onto the model plane he was playing with, but obediently, he stood and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Crown Of Life Research Paper The ability to become young again, live forever, and to heal any wound has been discovered in 1991! Ron and Tom are archaeologists from Australia, and their latest mission is to retrieve the Crown of Life from the Tomb of Neferkheperuhersekheper located in Egypt. Whoever wears the Crown of Life will become young, never die, and heal you whenever you get hurt. Ron and Tom arrived at the entrance to the tomb. They put on their packs filled to the brim with their gear. The map showed that there were four corridors leading to the podium holding the Crown of Life. Ron and Tom rolled over the boulder blocking the first corridor. They saw that there are tiles on the ground, and if you stepped on the wrong one, you would fall into a bottomless pit. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They cautiously walked through it. As Tom turned around, Steve noticed that Tom walked into a tripwire that activated a trap that threw spears. Steve quickly pushed Tom out of harm's way, but didn't have enough time to completely get himself out of danger. The spear grazed his left shoulder, but luckily no fatal damage occurred. Tom quickly took out the first aid kit out of his pack and wrapped gauze around Steve's shoulder to stop the bleeding. As soon as Steve felt better, they continued to the room containing the treasure. They saw the podium with the Crown of Life inside a glass container. They both breathlessly walked up, and as soon as they were about to remove the glass case, everything went dark. Esteban, the tomb robber, took the back of his flashlight and knocked both Steve and Tom out. Thier scanner showed two life forms about a few miles away. Steve and Tom thought that Esteban had a partner. They drove as fast as the jeep allowed to try to catch up to them. After a few hours, they finally saw that they stopped. Steve and Tom followed Esteban and his partner into a ... • 4. The Inside A Long Corridor I stared in wonder, inside was a long corridor, lit by a glowing light, to the left were weapon racks and to the right was an alchemy lab. Beyond that to the left was an underground bathing pool with 5 built in seats, continually refilled by water streaming in from above. Opposite this were a full set of forging, smelting and weapon crafting gear, beyond that was an alchemy table and a set of empty book shelves. I was in love with the place already and determined it would be my home. Opening a locked door at the end of the hall revealed a bed in the middle of the room, several chests and to one side a kitchen area and the other were wardrobes. Behind the bed was further water falling gently from the ceiling and draining away through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact my legs were held at right angle meant it was unlikely I would be moved out of position. I uncapped one of the bottles of "monster residue" and briefly inhaled before sealing the jar. Within seconds my pussy was moist and lubricated enough that I could start the machine, a few drops fell into the bucket below. With that I unlocked the brake, within seconds the shaft moved against my crotch, licking at my sensitive lips a dozen times every second. Animalistic moans echoed from me as I was overwhelmed by ecstasy. As I moaned in bliss, my shapely breasts danced to the rhythm of the machine, my navel clenched and relaxed in the throes of each climax. I felt flushed and was perspiring, I slipped my hands into the loops and crested heavenly wave after heavenly wave while thinking will I be able to bring myself to stop the machine? Or will I just be pleasured until I am too weak to move? My voluptuous figure squirming helplessly driven by the unquenchable fire in my loins, my moans sounded incredibly loud to my ears but couldn't be heard over the sounds of falling water. As I lay there floating, I mused it should be easier to recruit other suppliers if the business really takes off. But the mead we are making will take at least a month to ferment, so for now I can probably manage, down to the fact I produce far more I'm certain than most women do. • 5. Meeting A Hero Meeting a Hero It was hot in Oklahoma City. The concert had been terrific. Steven and his dad, Rudy, would never forget being in the same room as one of the greatest blues musicians of all time. They had heard rumours that, if you waited around the artist's entrance long enough after a show, Isaac Smith would eventually allow you to come in and meet him. Steven and Rudy were in no hurry. So, they decided to wait. Steven passed the time by checking to make sure his camera was in working order. Rudy wanted an opportunity to have his picture taken with his hero; Steven wanted to take advantage of the opportunity. An hour and a half passed. Just when Steven was about to suggest they give up, the artist's entrance door opened. A large man in a black suit announced, "Mr. Smith will see you now." The corridor to the dressing room was barely wide enough to accommodate one person standing in the middle. The security guard instructed the group to form a single–file line against one wall. "We can only let in two at a time. The room is small," he said. Steven's heart sank. He was fourth in line and Dad was fifth. They wouldn't be able to get in at the same time and Dad wouldn't get his photo. That's when the man standing third in line said, "He's going to see all of us. Take my spot and then you and your dad can go in together." It was a huge relief. A couple of minutes went by and the security guard ushered Steven and Rudy into the dressing room. • 6. Feasibility Study For Modernization Of The Eastern Railway... The inability of Ivoirian firms to obtain suitable industrial land has become a binding constraint on the country's economic growth and a primary impediment to the Government of Cote d'Ivoire's (GOCI) effort to increase industrial GDP to well above its current 22%. In the second quarter of 2013, the utilization rate of industrial capacity stood at 67.9% for Cote d'Ivoire . This will in turn increase the competitiveness of its economy. The GOCI now recognizes the tremendous economic costs of poor industrial land governance and inefficient industrial land markets and, consequently, has proposed concrete activities to address this constraint under Cote d'Ivoire's first MCC Compact. The traffic along the South– Centre Iraq and East–West Corridors is being served by Expressway No.1 with 1250 km long, the rote 2 sections and 10 parts; Southern with 510 km & Western with 455 km. This corridor is considerate as one of the longest routes in the Middle East and one of the most important highways in Iraq. Most of the expressway adjacent land along the road is owned by the Government, except some farms and installations owned by private. There are 176 official and private installations and adjoining to this expressway; many of them are assembling randomly on the right of way. These installations include; Police posts, Army posts, check points, Commercial (stand–alone) privately owned rest areas. Formal rest areas with integrated services, Small and fragmented shops, some of which are informal and unlicensed and farms or state leased lands. Most of the installations include medium or bad partial services like restaurants and shops. Many restaurants moved from the city to the area of the express way to follow traffic. In fact, Informal and illegal service stations are now dominating service delivery and they are very close to road and cannot be moved back because of obstacles behind it parking, especially of trucks needs management and repair. Most of the parking of trucks is obstructing movement and activities. • 8. The Road Corridor As An Important Area For Future... In 2006, The City of East Lansing referred to The Trowbridge Road Corridor as an important area for future redevelopment in their "Big Picture" Comprehensive Plan. Being a main route to East Lansing and Michigan State University it allows high visibility and access to and from the surrounding neighborhoods. In order to encourage future development in this area, most of the properties along that corridor needed to be redeveloped. Review for this project began in 2007. Due to the original design for the car–oriented area, the corridor and the surrounding land did not perfectly complement each other. Whole–habitat preservation suggested in the NCCP will, hopefully, incorporate the necessary elements for adequate protection of a species, allowing it to thrive in its habitat with the other organisms that it usually shares space with. The NCCP is designed to allow Orange County and participating counties the opportunity to develop plans for saving what remains of the CSS among the existing development. In this process counties are asked to account for future urban and farming development. Stakeholder participation is important in this process for obtaining input from various sectors of the community. Businesses and cities can come forward with plans for future expansion and development, managers of habitat can come forward with goals and limitations of the habitat and scientists can come forward with recommendations for size and structure of habitat and ideas for restoration to enhance corridors between habitat. The NCCP planning program will be implemented in large parts of Orange County, in parts of San Diego County and in portions of Riverside County. • 11. Evaluation Of A Risk Corridor For clarification a risk corridor is a formed idea that if insurance companies rake in higher cost than expected the government will reimburse the insurer to a certain percentage. As an example, if an insurer's actual claims in 2014 are at least 3% greater than the claims projected when the insurer set 2014 rates, the government must reimburse the insurer for half of the excess (Radnofsky, 2014). On top of that, if total claims jump 8% the government would be liable for 80% of the excess costs. This is a really risky move because the unhealthy population with insurance could be extremely costly. The risk corridors gave third party payers the re–insurance by providing insurance to all parties. These insurers in 2015 needed massive bailouts from the government for substantial losses reaching 2.5 billion. This can become an increasing expense over the years. Most of all the taxpayers will be on the hook for these enormous losses, while funding private shareholder owned insurance companies. The main issue at hand was the Department of Health and Human Services didn't pay the full percentage that was applicable under the risk corridor, which bankrupt some insurance providers. These small changes slowly deteriorate the free exchange market the affordable care act was built upon. The CEO Kelly Crowe of National Alliance stated "few businesses can sustain hits like the CO–OPs and other small and new insurance companies have endured" because of the federal government's ... The definition of Gentrification according to dictionary.com means, "the buying and renovation of houses and stores in deteriorated urban neighborhoods by upper– or middle–income families or individuals, thus improving property values but often displacing low–income families and small businesses." This definition alone proves that gentrification can have a negative impact. Although many people will overlook the negative impact because the positive can be a much more luxurious way of living. Yes, there are good things that come out of gentrification such as an increase in school quality or drops in crime are usually reflected in home prices. At the end of the day the negative outcomes outweigh the positive such as displaced youth, historical landmarks demolished, high level of vacancy rate in newly built apartments. Allowing gentrification to continue at this speed may result in the lower middle class to disappear. Which is why we must work together to decrease gentrification so that citizens have a chance at the best life possible. Every few minutes a light bulb hanging above a doorway would flash, a buzzer would sound and the soldier jabbed the man sitting closest to him with his cane. Craig heard the buzzer yet again and saw the flashing light reflected on the wall opposite. The soldier turned to the nearest young man and prodded him in the middle of his chest with the cane. "You ––– in there," he said. Craig had heard him use that phrase repeatedly. The young man in question stood up and opened the door as the others before him had done. He went inside and the door closed. "Move up!" shouted the soldier, another frequently repeated instruction. The man now nearest to the soldier stood up and moved to the vacated chair. Utah settlers followed this model, although with less personal autonomy and more respect for religious authority in worldly matters.7 Mormon settlers followed this idea in the "spirit" of the law rather than the "letter" of the law in forging their new identity out west. It followed from the lack of organized political life in the backwoods society, that the individual was exalted and given free play. The West was another name for opportunity. Some winters in that area can last from September to June, making all transportation even more difficult. Pakistan is experiencing a similar problem. Many regions in Pakistan are geographically isolated by various geographic features and poor roads. Thus, remote areas are more difficult to access and build schools in. I think ____________________ because I think that gentrification is still getting worst and worst every day, The reason being is that the rent is always increasing and hasn't stopped yet. The impacts are that the population decreases in gentrified areas. And the ones who left are struggling to find a new home. Some evidence is that globeville saw an increase of 67% in home values in the last year, more people from out of the states come to denver colorado and don't mind paying the rent here because they don't live here. Due to the new marijuana law and how it was first legal in colorado made people from around the states move to colorado which increased the population and which increased the rent cost. It is getting worst and worst because the rent is constantly increasing over the years and that makes the low income people struggle and then later on can lead homelessness, and struggle to find a new home. The population is also increasing with more people from other states so they don't really mind paying high rents simply because they haven't been here long enough ... • 29. Corridors Of Migration Summary "Corridors of Migration," is about the odyssey of Mexican laborers during the period of 19600– 1933. The book written by Rodolfo Acuna starts with the Spanish conquest of the America, portrays the factors that influenced Mexicans to migrate to the United States as well as the factors that pushed Mexicans out of the U.S. labor strikes and the corridors taken by Mexicans and their families. The aspects that influenced people to move can be seen as push, pull, and nativism that occurred due to the cause and effect of reactions of social and economic issues such as the Mexican Revolution of 1910, World World I, and mines as well as commercial agriculture. Moreover, the book illustrates strikes from the earliest in Arizona to the 1933 San Joaquin Valley Cotton Strike. In addition, Acuna shows the different corridors of Mexican Laborers and their families who struggle from the seventeenth–century in Chihuahua to the twentieth–century California and how they fought to form communities in the United States against racism, ... Thus, the Spaniards formed the encomienda system, which forced Indians to work and eventually turned them into slaves. Slave labor did produce the major consumer goods that were the basis of world trade and gave tremendous profit to Europe through the trade triangle. Acuna says, "The Spanish conquest of the Americas profoundly shaped what it would mean to be Mexican" (4). He notes that this revanchist or French for Revenge city theme aggressively re–claims the city and tries to re–infuse the city with middle–class morals, standards and costs. Gentrification also experiences a pattern of what many note as consumption in which those with the sweat equity such as the LGBT community but some such as Rose (1984) suggested that first wave gentrifiers were of small means, but were able to carve out spaces and enclaves of sage space based on sweat equity Smith (1996) reintroduces the notion of the rent gap in gentrification. Knopp (1987) mentions the increase in rents and the inability for pioneer gentrifiers in the gay community to keep up with the increase in taxes and home prices. Knopp (1990) analyzes the significance of gays in the gentrification process in New Orleans, Louisiana. He finds that are three sets of events that present catalysts for neighborhood transformation; the transformation included gay men, specifically white gay men who were active in the community and also developers of the neighborhood. Knopp concluded that, "...the class interests of those who treat land as a financial asset can be facilitated by forming cross–cultural and cross–class alliances with gay communities" ( p.337). • 32. Review Of ' The ' Of The Castle Corridor ' Worn out from spending ages getting Gawain settled into his bedchamber, Perceval lumbered down the castle corridor and made it to his door. Carefully, he entered his quarters and took a quick glance around the room; it was empty. His wife and their baby might be visiting with Carina, or Joan might have taken Percy along on a patient visit. Joan was an apprentice to Pawl, the Court Healer, and she had just started seeing a few patients again here and there eight weeks after Percy's birth. Perceval would never stand in the way of his wife's ambition to be a healer, but he worried about her returning to her duties so soon after having the baby, even with an abbreviated schedule. He still winced when he recalled how they accidentally butted heads, but somehow, through all the trails they'd faced, they were married, desperately in love, and had their little son, Percy. It seemed hard to believe any man had a right to be so blessed. Relaxed, Perceval's thoughts drifted to the last time he and Joan had sex, which had been right before Percy's birth. Other knights complained to him sex with a pregnant spouse was awkward and some did not care for it, and went so far as to visit the bawdy house instead, but Perceval thought they were all mad. Pregnant, Joan had been more gorgeous than ever, with her breasts full and that beautifully rounded belly carrying the baby he'd put there. There was something so alluring and sexy about it that was hard to define. Now, she lamented she looked like a "deflated pig's bladder" after birth, but Perceval declared that was madness. There was a slight softness to her lower belly, but she had carried his child and given birth; he saw that as beautiful and a badge of honor, though she disagreed. Though he did chuckle with her about how her breasts had grown to twice their normal size since she was nursing. • 33. A Short Story : A Story? Hellene took the keys by the tips of her fingers, making sure not to brush against the peeling skin of the guard. "Thank you," she mouthed as she squeezed past them. She scurried down the stairs, her feet turning a bit bluer with each step as she descended. All that while, the cries of the baby lingered around her ears, so that she was no longer sure if a baby really was crying, or if she was just remembering the sound of it. She knew full well about her mother's cape, spies told her of their every move. Not that she cared. Not that she watched every move they made. Hellene definitely didn't care that much. She hung her head and held one arm across her body. Zosime would forever be a part of her, as her mother. Her mentor. Her torment. With every hateful word Hellene spoke of her, Zosime would utter ones of forgiveness and understanding in return. Damn her. But if her intelligence proved to be true, what would she do with the baby? She kicked open the door and instead of finding a fresh corpse, pale and ready for decay, she found a pink faced newborn, eyes closed tight and feet kicking. Her little fists opened and closed as if she were counting the notes in a lullaby. A steady pulse after surgery. All around the infant, straw padded the floors, still damp from the last flood. The clothes that Zosime had worn when she was sent to this prison cell twisted around her limbs, the only obvious reminder that this baby had a history. • 34. Sea To Sky Corridor Case Study The many BC Parks in the Sea to Sky Corridor have been experiencing increased visitors use from individuals and commercial operators. As one of many agencies responsible for managing land use in the corridor BC Parks attempts to deal with emerging recreation and overcrowding has displaced users pursuing recreation further up the corridor, into other types of recreation lands, and limited recreation opportunities; ultimately increasing the scale of the problem. As BC Parks begins to implement strategies to address over use in the Sea to Sky corridor they want to find ways to resolve the issues in the corridor, not merely displace the issues on other park regions or recreations lands. From shots of fans waiting outside her hotel room to sweeping corridor shots before a performance that highlight her extensive crew, it is hard to Keshishian to escape using these shots to show viewers Madonna's daily life on tour. When it comes to filming her live performances, however, Keshishian is unable to use any other shot because of the theatrics of the performance. Madonna herself acknowledges that her tour is like going to the theater, but as much as Keshishian tries to diversify the shots of her on stage, it becomes impossible. This only further plays into her larger–than–life persona, by providing viewers with a better understanding of why so many crew members are needed to bring this show to life and why so many fans appreciate her work. Every wide angle shot of her performance still manages to cut off some of the relevant details, whether it be dancers or background images. Her tour is unable to be fully captured on screen, much like she is unable to be fully captured on screen. Though Keshishian tries to include everything, it becomes impossible, a sentiment that viewers are forced to accept throughout the film because of Madonna's popularity. • 36. Wildlife Corridor Essay Abstract Proponents of the wildlife corridor concept suggest that by connecting otherwise isolated portions of habitat, species benefit through gaining access to a larger gene pool, thus increasing their chances of reproductive success. Despite the popularisation of this idea over the last several decades, a lack of long–term scientific research has led some to question this assumption. Factors including the territorial, mating and migration behaviours of individual species of animal as well as the lengths and breadths of corridors are all assumed to influence the effect of a corridor individually. As such, a specific corridor may assist in defragmenting the population of one species, but may not affect another in any significant way. The vast tracts of land required by wildlife corridors make a considered assessment of their assumed benefits an absolute necessity. Introduction The following paper aims to critique assumptions commonly made about wildlife corridors and to assess claims that they make a significant impact to the defragmentation of wildlife populations. Information from a variety of sources will be assessed in terms of its accuracy and relevance in an attempt to determine if wildlife corridors are an effective method to increase localised biodiversity levels. After key evidence both in favour against the concept has been presented, any relevant ideas will be synthesised into a recommendation made at the end of the paper. How the Wildlife Corridor Strategy Works ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I picked up the rusty old trophy which bore my name. The cold iron surface was visible from the craters in the gold paint. I scratched the surface and a large chunk of the fake golden paint fell to the land. The person manning the junk glowered at me. I shrugged and put the trophy back. "Do you know that this piece of junk has my name carved on it?" I asked, amused. The man was confounded for a moment. He didn't say anything. He knew me. Of course, he knew me! I used to see him every day. Every Sunday, he used to have a sale of all the junk he had collected from neighbourhood. I went last Sunday, but didn't found anything of use. Today, I did. A look of pure contempt was coming from his small eyes. If I demanded for the trophy, he could have done nothing. He would have had to return it to me. "No, sir" He repeated himself, "It is not for free." I smiled. I was not going to argue. My gaze went back to the trophy. Amidst all the junk, it was one piece that was attached to me. Funny, how we throw things that we feel are no longer attached to us and suddenly when we see it again, we remember why we loved it in the first place. On the one side of the trophy, set on the table, was a small used comb. A weird mixture of grey, black and white hair was sticking out from it. One thin strand of the hair was touching my trophy.
