On Thursday 22nd April 2004, Ron Atkinson, manager and footballing legend, was overheard making a racist remark concerning player Marcel
Desailly– the black Chelsea defender during the Chelsea–Monaco Champion's League semi–final.
The story received colossal press coverage from all of the newspapers, mainly because Atkinson is famous for coaching so many black players. I have

This also uses the technique of personalisation like the tabloid; however it is more formal and does not use slang. It does not have as much impact
as The Sun uses words like 'racist', it seems less harmful because they are only 'costly thoughts' instead. There is a more formal, serious picture; he is
shown doing his job in smart clothes and he looks dignified. There is only one picture and a lot more text which is divided into eight columns.
The sun differs from the Daily Telegraph in content greatly. The Sun only has a short paragraph of background information whereas The Daily
Telegraph has quite a large section describing Atkinson's tributes and achievements in football. Also The Sun has much shorter quotes in its article.
This is because The Sun is known to get straight to the point in articles whilst The Daily Telegraph usually gives all sides of the argument before
coming to a conclusion.
The Sun is part of the News Corporation Group owned by press baron Rupert Murdoch and is the best–selling British newspaper selling 3.5 million
copies a day, compared to The Daily Telegraph who is part of Hollinger Inc. owned by Conrad Black. In comparison to The Sun it sells over three times

Analysis Of There Will Come Soft Rains
The text, There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury tells the story of a robotically controlled house left standing in a post–apocalyptic world. Every
day, life continues as normal for the house until it meets the same fate of "death" as it catches on fire and burns to the ground, leaving only one voice
behind.
This story made me think about how, even though you may not be there, time still passes on and does not stop for anybody. Throughout the text, it
continues to refer to the time of day it is, and elaborates on how the day is progressing, like one of the first lines, "Tick–tock, seven o'clock, time to get
up, time to get up, seven o'clock!" Everything, apart from the fact there is nobody around, seems completely normal, and a routine is still kept in
place. The house continues on as if what's going on is completely normal, as it knows no different from what it has been programmed to do. The
writer makes me think about how we need to make the most of our time on our Earth. We never know when our last day will be, and our lives are
honestly quite fleeting. I personally know that I don't like or enjoy coming out of the routine I have set for myself on a day to day basis, although this

such as on–line news or social media. Few things have changed so significantly as the media, and the way in which Americans consume information.

Newscasters' current view of balance is to report both sides of an issue, despite the consequences. Straightforward news has descended into a wacky
belief that replaces balance for accuracy and truth.
Virtually every matter can be described as a debate between two conflicting sides, and the journalist is apprehensive of expressing that one side has it
right, and the other side does not. It leaves the audience in the position of having to consider opposing factual assertions, often without enough info to
properly choose that one side is clearly right, and the other side is striving to create doubt with propaganda.

This is an extremely satirical idea simply because of the fact that it is ridiculing two types of people in one sentence. The first, being the Irish
Catholics, are made fun of quite obviously. The innuendo is that, prior to the statement, it is suggested that there is a surplus of papist babies born
nine months after Lent, later supported by calling Catholics the "principal breeders" (Swift 622). This is seen as an advantage to decrease the amount
of Catholics in England, taking the opportunity and selling more babies, but with a religious background. This idea is supported by the second, more

Swift while the narrator is in the mindset of an English Protestant just to make fun and to point out how foolish the idea of it all actually is.

I spent most of my childhood traveling the world. What a way to spend a childhood tell you, I am the person I am today because of the places I

What it evolved into wasn't a 'second battle of Sidney Street' as the Daily Mail claims because Craig was the only one shooting, until a police officer
fired three warning shots into the air.
Leaving out bits of information such as how Craig jumped from the building after shooting the police officer stops people from feeling sorry for 'the
bandits' and making up excuses for them like saying that if he jumped he can't have meant it.
By writing about 'the gangsters' as if they were shooting at everyone and not just to scare the police away, the media have created an interesting story
that people will want to read and find out how the case progresses and what verdict it will get in court, which is the effect that they would have
anticipated.
The opening paragraph that declares that the 'London crime wave reached a new peak' the night of 2nd November 1952 is someone's opinion
presented as a fact, as is the shootings on the roof being associated with the 'Battle of Sidney Street'. These are presented as facts so that people read
them as facts and believe them, whatever their own individual opinion is. Opinions will be argued with because they are just someone's point of view
whereas facts are solid, believable piece of information, which reinforce the importance of a situation.

Just a few years ago, late night shows were a way for celebrities to promote their new movie, TV series, or music. The host would just conduct
light–hearted interviews and harmless, interactive games. Jimmy Kimmel has had guests read hate tweets; James Corden has sang karaoke while
driving guest stars; Jimmy Fallon has competed in lip sync battles against guests; SNL has invited guests to temporarily replace Pandora. Now, instead
of simple comedy, some hosts are injecting political commentary in their news updates and monologues. Over the last year, late night television ratings

In today's modern society, individual's beliefs and principles are spread through a variety of ways. Everything we understand can be derived from a
friend, parent, blogger, or even a news anchor who spread common ideologies without questioning their validity. However, in every society, there are

The tabloid newspaper is the Sun and the broadsheet newspaper is the Times.
Firstly I will analyse the story written by the Sun, this tabloid covered the same story as the Times and therefore we can find out their intentions.
The Sun had the following bold headline "Deadly strain confirmed", I can clearly see from the start that they are trying to create a scare in the
public and capture the reader's attention very fast, this is because they don't tell you what deadly strain they are talking about, if I were to see this in
a newspaper lying around I would pick it up because it already got me worried and caught my attention. This has made me think, are they trying to
inform the reader or just trying to sell their story? You only learn what the deadly strain is after you read paragraph 1 so this proves my point.
On the 3rd paragraph the Sun states the following "the swan had the strain which can be fatal to humans." Instead of just using "the swan had the
H5N1 strain" the Sun chooses to create more of an impact by using the word "fatal" and implying it to humans. This makes the beginning of the article

Due to the bullying incidents, the move to America became more appealing to Mandvi when his dad first brought it up.

Black–ish Is a comedy show but at times it shows clips or images that are not more news like and informative to the viewers. To show how Black–ish I
will be discussing one of the episodes of the show from season three in comparison with the article Let Us Infotain You. In the episode "40 Acres and
a Vote" it used discursive integration. At the beginning, Andre had a slide playing sad music with images of the Obama family on it. He then goes into
a discussion speaking about how Barrack Obama wasn't just important because he was the first black president, but because of he gave a hand in
