and planning and
Evaluation Stages
2. Construction
For our media coursework we used many modern conventions of media technology in different aspects and
components of our work.
First of all in the Construction of our Newspaper we used the photo manipulation software programme
“Adobe Photoshop”. This enabled us to create a sophisticated and more professional looking finished product
than if we had used a less advanced programme for example “Microsoft Publisher”.

authenticity of our newspaper
3. This software enabled us change images we already had so as to adapt them to our product instead of just
chucking them in anywhere they fit. We were also able to merge writing and photographs to look
sophisticated and to use a variety of different colours to create borders around certain things to create the
professional feel. The use of Photoshop also enabled us to create our own adverts for our newspaper
something we would have struggled to do adequately without “Photoshop”. We were able to construct our
adverts in separate windows and then import them onto our newspaper piece. Photoshop also let us use
different layers on the final piece so as to make it easier to move things around and see what fits in where
without deleting everything or losing your work. It also lets you temporarily hide things from the page so
you can try different features on the page you’re working on to decide which is best.
The menu at the side
provides many different
tools that can be used
on the programme to
achieve different
effects. Such as creating
block boxes for borders
or using the circle tool
to create different
textures in a colour
scheme.

coloured in indicates
that that particular layer
has been hidden – as
you can see from the
white gap under the
photograph. The
technology is incredibly
easy to use
demonstrated perfectly
by just clicking a button.
5. Research and Planning
For the Planning and research of our product we started a blog on the website
building site “Wix”. This enabled us to create clear, concise running blog of
everything we did for our coursework in the form of a website. It provided us for
different sections to dedicate to certain areas on which we would be marked. It
also enabled us to broaden the different conventions of technology we had used
thus far as by using “Wix” we were able to set up an interactive component in
our coursework in which you could choose what you consume rather just sheets
of text.

6. We also used technology by using Microsoft Office to analyse and evaluate different
newspapers by taking print screens of them and then annotating them to pick out key
points and issues with the local paper. We could highlight bits that worked
particularly well and then adapt them to fit into our work and we could also find
features that we didn’t feel worked that well and therefore find a style that would
suit our newspaper.
