The author learned several lessons in magazine design after creating a student magazine and a music magazine. For the music magazine, they kept forms and conventions in mind, such as using an effective masthead and ensuring the coverlines stood out using graphics instead of only font. They also learned to use splash pages more effectively by varying fonts and choosing colors that contrast instead of blending in.

• With my music magazine I kept the forms and conventions in mind when creating it. For
example in my student magazine before knowing about forms and conventions the
masthead is less effective compared to my music magazine. I soon learnt about the
power of graphic used to make things stand out. The student magazine coverlines are
not clear to see expecially because I used white font, because of this I made sure to make
my coverlines stand out by using graphics on my music magazine. Splash on my student
magazine isnt as effective as my music one I think this is because of the two different
fonts I used on the first one and because I used green on top of green making it less
effective.
