2. Scale:
Slasher films are commonly distributed on a
worldwide scale. Films like Friday the 13th
(distributed by Paramount and Warner bros.) or
The Evil Dead (Distributed by Sony Pictures and
TriStar Pictures) were all published all over the
world, to maximise their audience and profit.
The reason slashers publish worldwide rather
than national like other horror genres is likely to
do with the audience size, with slashers having
much larger audience than other horror genres.
3. Release style:
• Since Slasher films aim for a mainstream
audience, strongly following a selection of
convention. As “the Axe Man” follows
these conventions, the release will too.
On a specific date, usually in the early
autumn period (October/November).This
is shown in the release of Halloween or
Texas Chainsaw Massacre, released on
October 25th and October 1st respectively
4. Distributor: Dimensional Films
• Dimension films was founded by Bob Weinstein. It's original
purpose was to distribute horror films however the company began
to expand into other genres
• Franchise which Dimension Films have distributed included:
Scream, Scary Movie and Children of the Corn.
• The marketing campaign for Scream 4, a slasher film which is similar
to our product, used social media to advertise their product. They
used a Facebook campaign, making a profile to the main character
of the film/series, Sindney Prescott. This will attract our target
audience age range of 16-25, as they commonly use social media to
chat with friends. Hopefully, we can take advantage of Web 2.0 and
use viral marketing to create a buzz for our film. This should
encourage more people to watch our film, as they fall into the
mainstreamer demographic.

5. New Line Cinema
• Founded in 1967, New Line has created some of the
most successful film franchises in history. During March
2008 New Line became a unit of Warner Bros.
Entertainment. For example, the film ,the Conjuring,
was marketed by releasing a teaser trailer and Comic-
con. In addition, the promotion focused heavily on that
the film is based on a real story, this was to increase
the hype around the film and too make the audience
intrigued to watch the film. However the main source
of marketing was social network sites on Twitter . They
tweeted pictures and interviews with the cast of the
film. This kind of film woulb be effective to target our
market.
6. Dimension Films
We believe that Dimension Film will be a great
distributor for our film. They have history with
the genre and sub genre, and the style of
marketing they use should be able to better
target the audience we want.
