2. What is distribution
• Distribution is when distribution companies
(the same company usually covers the same
genre e.g. Warner bros. Distributing action
adventure films) distribute films over a
number of different means e.g. Physical
copies, streaming it etc. Distribution
companies also help to fund the film.
3. Distribution companies
• Here are some examples of film distribution
companies
• 20th Century Fox Film Co. Ltd (Major)
• Columbia Pictures (Major)
• Lionsgate UK (Independent)
• Sony (Major)
• Momentum Pictures (Independent)
• Metrodome (Independent)
4. Hollow end
• Hollow end is a crime/psychological thriller
which makes sense because it has a striking
resemblance to the Zodiac film which is also a
crime/psychological thriller, Warner bros.
Distributed Zodiac and because Warner bros.
Often distributes crime films it is possible
Warner bros. Could be the distribution
company for Hollow End as Warner bros. Has
shown an interest for more dark films as seen
with zodiac.
5. Target Audience
• I think the film will have a wide appeal
because the second female protagonist that
we see through a text message has a big role
which means it will appeal to a female
demographic however I think the film will
appeal to UK audiences primarily because
Hollywood is more centred around happy
films and not psychological thrillers.
6. Marketing strategies
• Who will see the film?
15 – 30+ any gender, no younger because it
would be inappropriate for younger audiences
• Why will they want to see the film?
Because the intro creates an enigma which will draw
in audiences
• How will they be persuaded to see the film?
They will be persuaded by adverts and a strong
social media presence as the target audience use
social media on a day to day basis.
7. Self Distribution
• If we decide to self distribute our film we will
need to produce trailers and things like that
ourselves which may prove challenging,
another problem with self distributing is film-
watchers tend to watch films produced by
more mainstream producers e.g. Paramount
pictures so gaining the trust and engaging
audiences might also prove challenging.
