This document outlines an ASSURE lesson plan for teaching Russian students about Fourth of July activities and traditions. The students range in age from 10 to 19 years old and have mild to severe vision impairments. The objectives are for students to describe the importance of the holiday and its activities with 80% accuracy. Media, methods and materials include a lecture, patriotic songs, American foods like those typically eaten on July 4th, and Pop Rocks candy to explain fireworks. Student participation will be required through discussions, questions, and experiencing the celebrations. The lesson will be evaluated based on student knowledge gained and revised as needed to meet objectives.

A- Analyze Learners - Mystudentsare Russianchildrenrangingfromthe age of tento nineteen
yearsold.There are fifteenof themtotal,eightof themare malesandsevenof themare
females.Theyare all mildlytoseverelyvisionimpaired.Ihave toteachthese studentsaboutthe
activitiesof the Fourthof July.Takingintoaccounttheircondition,Icannot use anyvisuals
duringthislesson.Thismakesmyjobatad bitharder,butI can workaroundit.
S- State Objectives –AftergivingmyRussian studentsalecture onwhyAmericanscelebratethe
fourthof July and havingadiscussionaboutthe holiday,theywilldescribethe importanceof this
holidaywith80%accuracy. Also,usingdifferenttypesof foodsandsongs,mystudentswill present
the unique activitiesof the holidaywith80% accuracy. Inorder forme to getthe ideaof fireworks
across tothem,I will describe fireworkswith many adjectiveswhile the studentseatthe candy “Pop
Rocks.”Doingthis,the studentswill distinguishwhatfireworksare with80% accuracy. Afterall of
these activities,mystudentswill create theirownFourthof Julysonganddescribe the holidaytothe
