ASSURE Assignment
A- Analyze Learners - Mystudentsare Russianchildrenrangingfromthe age of tento nineteen
yearsold.There are fifteenof themtotal,eightof themare malesandsevenof themare
females.Theyare all mildlytoseverelyvisionimpaired.Ihave toteachthese studentsaboutthe
activitiesof the Fourthof July.Takingintoaccounttheircondition,Icannot use anyvisuals
duringthislesson.Thismakesmyjobatad bitharder,butI can workaroundit.
S- State Objectives –AftergivingmyRussian studentsalecture onwhyAmericanscelebratethe
fourthof July and havingadiscussionaboutthe holiday,theywilldescribethe importanceof this
holidaywith80%accuracy. Also,usingdifferenttypesof foodsandsongs,mystudentswill present
the unique activitiesof the holidaywith80% accuracy. Inorder forme to getthe ideaof fireworks
across tothem,I will describe fireworkswith many adjectiveswhile the studentseatthe candy “Pop
Rocks.”Doingthis,the studentswill distinguishwhatfireworksare with80% accuracy. Afterall of
these activities,mystudentswill create theirownFourthof Julysonganddescribe the holidaytothe
bestof theirability. Mystudentswill accomplishthese tasksby the endof thisunit,whichistwo
classperiodslong.
S- SelectMedia,Methods,andMaterials –1. Lecture material – I will come toclasswitha printout
of whatI wantto talkaboutthat day soI do not leave anyinformationoutof the lesson.2.CD
Player- The CDplayerwill provide uswithpatrioticsongs,andthe studentswill notice how proud
Americansare abouttheircountry.3. Differenttypesof foods- Bringingsome of the foods that
Americanstypicallyeatonthisdaywill give mystudentsafeel forwhatitislike tocelebratethis
holiday. 4.PopRocks- PopRockswill be usedinordertohelpexplainfireworksandwhattheyare
and do.
U – Utilize Mediaand Materials – I will preview andprepare all of mymaterial andmedia.Iwould
previewall of the Fourthof JulysongsIwill playforthe lessonandmake sure the foodissuitableto
the majorityof my students.Also,Iprepare mystudentsandgive themhighexpectationstomeet.I
will letthemknowhowIwantthemto understandthe importance of thisholidayandIwantthem
to feel whatcelebratingthisholidayfeelslike.Iwill make the presentationfunyetveryinformativein
orderforthemto obtaina greatdeal of knowledge aboutthistradition.
R- Require LearnerParticipation - Iwill requiremystudents’ participationinthisentire lesson.
Duringthe discussionandlecture,Iwill see whatthe studentspreviouslyknow aboutthe holiday
and traditions.Everysooftenduringthe lecture,Iwill stopandaskquestionsaboutthe material we
have alreadycoveredinordertosee if theyare obtainingthe knowledge.Duringthe time of eating
the foodand listeningtothe music,theywill be involvedbecausetheyare actuallypartakinginthe
