3. MICROPROCESSOR
•A microprocessor incorporates the functions of
a computer's central processing unit(CPU) on
a single integrated circuit (IC) or at most a few
integrated circuits.
•The microprocessor is the heart of any normal
computer. If the computer without
microprocessor, the computer can not operate.
•The speed of a microprocessor is measured in
megahertz, or cycles per second.
•Microprocessors operate on numbers and
symbols represented in the binary numeral
system.
4. HOW IT WORKS ?
It is in charge of processing data. The way it
will process data will depend on the program.
The program can be a spreadsheet, a word
processor or a game. It just follows the orders
contained inside the program.
7. MICROCONTROLLER
•A micro controller is an electronic device that
generally consists of a microprocessor, a
memory unit in the form of random access
memory (RAM) and Read Only Memory (ROM),
various timers and input/output serial and
parallel ports all integrated on a single chip.
•A microcontroller can be programmed to do a
variety of functions according to the
requirement of the system known as embedded
system.
8.
9. HOW IT WORKS ?
• Microcontrollers are "embedded" inside some other device
(often a consumer product) so that they can control the
features or actions of the product.
• Microcontrollers are dedicated to one task and run one
specific program. The program is stored in ROM (read-
only memory) and generally does not change.
• A microcontroller takes input from the device it is
controlling and controls the device by sending signals to
different components in the device.
12. The development of the first
microprocessor began in 1969 when a
Japanese calculator maker -Busicom-
asked Intel to design a set of 12 custom
logic chips for a line of programmable
calculators.

14. Marcian E. Hoff
Electrical Engineer, Inventor
In 1968 he joined the Intel Corporation
“father of the microprocessor.”
15. • Marcian E. "Ted" Hoff- recognized that the
integrated circuit technology of the day had
advanced enough to build a single chip, which
could be programmed to run any of busicom’s
calculators.
• Hoff’s insight led him to formulate the world’s
first microprocessor architecture, the Intel 4004.
• "Federico Faggin joined Intel to turn Hoff's vision
into a silicon reality. In less than one year, Faggin
and his team delivered the 4004, which was
introduced in November, 1971."
16. • Ted Hoff (formulated first microprocessor
architecture in 1969)
• Federico Faggin (designed the first
microprocessor and delivered it to market
in 1970-1971).
17. MICROCONTROLLER
• Gary Boone and Michael Cochran creates
the first microcontroller in 1971 which
went commercial in 1974.
• the microcontroller is designed to be all of
that in one.
• It saves the time and space needed to
design a device.
