Deep Intellect
In "The Brains of the Animal Kingdom" by Frans De Waal, he would describe intelligence as
learning how to use tools correctly, to accomplish completing task the right way. Frans De Waal's
describes how humans may think that animals are not as smart as we think, but they actually prove
us wrong. Animals have their ways of performing tasks and accomplishing things they have to do.
De Waal sets an elephant as an example and he states, "Kandula ignored the sticks but, after a while,
began kicking the box with his foot. He kicked it many times in a straight line until it was right
underneath the branch. He then stood on the box with his front legs, which enabled him to reach the
food with his trunk. An elephant, it turns out, can use tools–if they are the right ones" (De Waal 3).

Montgomery's point of view was that octopus were characterized by their chameleon like skin color,
textures and shape changes, to their eight–armed coordination's, up to their playful intelligence.
Montgomery experienced being around an octopus and how they acted when they were around other
individuals. For example: Athena one of the largest octopus in the aquarium. Sy stated, "When I
stroked her soft head with my fingertips, she changed color beneath my touch, her ruby–flecked skin
going white and smooth. This, I learned, is a sign of a relaxed octopus. An agitated giant Pacific
octopus turns red, its skin gets pimply, and it erects two papillae over the eyes, which some divers
say look like horns" ( Montgomery 61). An octopus knows how to interact with the individual they
come to contact with. Many may think that octopuses are not intelligent, but they are in so many
ways. Octopus may perform task from opening jars, to escaping their tanks and hiding, to even
"running" around avoiding to get caught. Montgomery points out that octopus can teach us about
nature and consciousness of

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of...
A. Are there certain supplies, tools, or equipment that students should provide? What are the
advantages and disadvantages of student–provided supplies, tools, and equipment? Be sure to
include examples in your response.
I teach in the automotive field and in my class we make them bring their own supplies like paper,
pencil or pen and the text book. We give them one pair of safety glasses when they start the program
and if they lose them they have to buy another pair. One of the advantages in them bringing their
own supplies is they will keep up with them and have them the next class period. When I started
teaching I had a cup on my desk with pens and pencils that students could use. What I started
noticing was that I was finding pens and pencils everywhere in the room but back in the cup. So I
put them all away and make sure the students bring their own. In my program, Ford ASSET, we
don't make the students bring their own tools to class but the general automotive classes do make
them bring their own tools. My students have to have their own tools at the dealership during the
co–op portion of the semester so we don't have them bring them to class. There again, they don't
seem to take care of the tools like they would if it was their own tools. The tools don't get put back
where they got them from and a lot of times they don't even get put back in the tool box, I find them
left in the cars and at the work stations. I am still trying to keep up with a good solution because if
they have to bring them to class everyday they will want to store them on the classroom, so then
who is responsible for them if they get gone. So the advantage of students bringing their own
supplies and tools is they will take better care of them and keep track of them. The disadvantage of
the students brining their own tools is who is responsible for them if the students leave them
between classes and where are you going to store eighteen tool boxes between classes.

What Makes Us Human?
What makes us human? For thousands of years, we have struggled to describe what it means to be
human. Is it the way we walk, the size of our brain, the tools we use, or our capacity for emotion?
All of these can make a difference when it comes to understanding our ancestry and what makes us
special. Brain size is a determining factor in the intelligence of a species. Many people would think
that the larger the brain, the smarter the species; however, a species can have very large brains and
bodies to match. Because of this problem, we use a ratio called the encephalization quotient (EQ) to
accurately measure "how 'brainy' an animal is for its body size" (Walker 216). An EQ value ranges
from 1 to 12. The EQ of a chimpanzee is anywhere from 2 to 4, while that of a modern human is
anywhere from 5 to 10 (Walker 216). This may not seem like a very large difference, but there are
distinctive qualities that make human brains superior. For example, the cortex, known as the "seat of
intelligence" is responsible for where memories and senses are stored to be utilized (Campbell 84).
The cortex of a human brain makes up about 80% of its volume, while the cortex of a chimpanzee
brain makes up about 75% of its volume (Campbell 84). This is where the difference between
humans and other animals, including chimpanzees, lies, and it is because of this that we have the
"ability to look inward and observe our own mental processes: Humans not only think but know
they are thinking.

What Is Chimpanzees Like Humans
INTRODUCTION Chimpanzees are the closest living relatives to humans. They are some of the
only animals who have thumbs and are able to grasp things almost as well as humans. There overall
anatomy is what also shows their similarity to us. They, just like humans, have two arms, two legs,
and one head. Chimpanzees are known for their unbelievable strength and intelligence, which has
led them to be a popular research topic. They can be found in environments such as rainforests and
savannahs across west and central Africa. These primates have been observed for many years and
have undoubtedly proven their intelligence and unique culture. Chimpanzees can attribute their
evolutionary success to their ability to use tools, adapt to their environment, and to pass on things
they have learned from generation to generation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. TOOL MANUFACTURING AND USE AMONG COMMON CHIMPS Tool use is very common
among chimps. Jane Goodall was able to make fascinating discoveries of tool use among chimps in
the wild. According to the article "Design Complexity in Termite–Fishing Tools of Chimpanzees"
Jane Goodall observed a chimp ripping leaves off of a stick to use to catch termites. By ripping the
unwanted leaves off of the stick the chimp was able to fit the stick in a hole in the termite mound
and let the termites crawl all over it. The chimp could then eventually pull the stick out very
carefully and eat the termites much more efficiently.

ASPCA: Preventing Cruelty To Animals
The death of any living being is a very sensitive subject for most people. No matter if it refers to
humans or animals. However, cruelty to animals has increased over the past years. To help put an
end to animal cruelty, the government has created laws but, the community created a program,
ASPCA. ASPCA is sited for American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. What does
an SPCA worker do to help prevent cruelty to animals? What characteristics, features, requirements,
obligations does an ASPCA officer has?

Rhetorical Analysis Of Persuasion
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated"
quote by Mahatma Gandhi. Over 115 million animals are killed in laboratory experiments
worldwide for drug, cosmetics, chemical and food testing every year. Nowadays, advertising
agencies against animal abuse are deciding to use shocking tactics to get their point across about
ending animal cruelty. There are several advertisements that address different types of issues, but at
the end of the day all they are trying to do is to give a voice to the voiceless, the animals. In order
for these agencies to get the ability to manipulate and the full attention of the audience they need to
use the most common persuasive strategies. Those persuasive strategies can also be known as the
rhetorical tools of persuasion, which are the appeals to pathos, logos, and ethos, ... Show more

According to The University Writing Center of Texas A&M University, rhetoric is the study of how
speakers and writers use words to influence an audience. A rhetorical analysis is an essay that breaks
a work of non–fiction into parts and then explains how the parts work together to create a certain
effect, whether to persuade, entertain or inform. Also, you can conduct a rhetorical analysis of a
primarily visual argument such as an advertisement or a cartoon, which we are doing with the anti–
animal abuse advertisements. A rhetorical analysis should explore the rhetorician's goals, the tools
(or techniques) used, examples of those techniques, and the effectiveness of those techniques. By me
writing a rhetorical analysis on animal abuse, I am not saying whether or not I agree with the
argument. Instead, I am discussing how the rhetorician makes that argument and whether or not the
approach used is successful ("University Writing Center"

Animal Forms Of Communication As Less Complex Or...
As humans, we find it easy to conclude that we are the smartest, most superior beings on the planet.
What is it that makes us so certain that this is true? Animals do not speak our language, so we make
the judgment that they are less. If we look beyond our own form of verbal communication, we may
find that the domesticated animals we keep as pets are trying to communicate with us sometimes,
especially dogs. Do they not greet us at the door, running with a wagging tail? Do they not try to
warn and ward off potential intruders? Do they not want to eat whatever it is that a person is eating,
even if that means licking crumbs off the plate just before it goes in the dish washer? Cats
communicate through habits of their own – they purr and hiss. Why do we evaluate animal forms of
communication as less complex or intelligent than our own? Though we often see non–human
animals as inferior, viewing their intelligence as fundamentally different from our own, imagining
them as incapable of communicating in a way similar to humans, and focusing on differences in
physical form and societal structure, humans and other animals are far more similar than we might
think. Particular similarities exist between humans and primates. In the book Evolution and Human
Behavior: Darwinian Perspectives on Human Nature, John Cartwright writes, "In terms of the amino
acid sequences in a range of blood proteins, and hence the genes responsible, we are virtually
identical to chimpanzees" (162–4).

Anthropology Thesis
Anthropology
Thesis
Humans, as a species are not unique. We are similar to many other groups of animals in practically
any way imaginable. We may be slightly more developed but we are not unique. We share
characteristics, values, traits and our history with them. These similarities are especially common
between humans and other major mammals like, rodents and primates, and the fact that our
medicines and beauty products are tested on them proves that humans are, in many ways, are
connected to animals. We should not consider ourselves superior just based on the fact, that we have
'opposable thumbs' or a larynx to offer our opinion compared to the other creatures around us.
Culture
The concepts that we generally connect with culture are– Art, theater, literature, music, religion,
architecture and cuisine. Clearly though, no other species have shown significant signs of having
anything approaching this level of social refinement. But the primary idea of culture can also be
defined as the ways in which a group performs their daily activities and what they revolve around,
learned from one another and passed down the generations, and other primate species, like monkeys,
great apes etc. undoubtedly have practices that are unique to specific groups, such as a certain way

The Paleolithic Er The Extinction Of The Neanderthals
The Paleolithic Era is a prehistoric period of human history distinguished by the development of the
most primitive stone tools, this was the earliest known use of stone tools. During this time humans
used stone to make tools and stone was used many times as part of the actual tool, these first stone
tools were used to meet people's three basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing. Humankind had
gradually evolved into the kind of people that used simple stone tools, this new technology created a
population increase of modern humans which is believed to have led to the extinction of the
Neanderthals during the Paleolithic Era. The Paleolithic is characterized by the use of flaked stone
tools, although at the time humans also used wood and bone

Neolithic Revolution: The Inevitable Boost Of Civilization
The Neolithic Revolution was a major change in the way people lived in 10,000 BCE. The
transformation from hunting and gathering to agriculture led to stable settlement, the establishment
of social classes, and inevitable boost of civilization.
The Neolithic Revolution began with farming. The people domesticated animals and plants. Animal
domestication might have started by instead of killing animals, they started to round them up. They
could then use them how they always did for their skin and for food, but now they also benefited by
using their eggs and milk. Plant domestication might have happened by them realizing that drop
seeds in dirt leads to new plant growing in the following year.
The Paleolithic people were nomadic. They used to move around in groups to gather food to live off
of. The men hunted, they found and killed animals, and the women and children went looking for
berries, nuts, grains, and fruits. After the Neolithic revolution, their lives became agriculture based.

crops, such as wheat, beans, corn, etc. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay about Using Animals in Research and Experimentation
Animals should be used for research and Experimentation because if the animals get sick or show
any signs of acting abnormal then the scientists know it isn't safe for humans to use. Animal
research has played a big role in nearly every medical breakthrough over the last decade. Animals
have the same organ system that perform the same task, which helps determine if what is being
tested is safe for humans to use. Most of the medicines animals use the same medicine as humans
like antibiotics, pain killers, and many more this helps to see if the medicine cures the animals
without any harmful consequences then it would be safe and useful for humans to use. Using

The scientists make sure the animals are not in very much pain, the scientists make sure they use
proper safe tools when doing the tests on the animals. Scientists are very respectful of test animals.
They make sure that the animals are treated well and do not suffer at any point in an experiment.
The scientists do all they can for the animals when it comes to actually testing on them. If they think
it will be uncomfortable for the animals they give them pain killers to relieve the stress and the pain
if pain is even involved. The scientists don't do the tests with intentions on hurting the animals they
do it in hope to save lives of many people or make life easier on someone's life. Using animals for
experiments and tests can be more useful than using lab tools and chemicals for many reasons.
Using animals can actually show you what could happen to humans, but when just using lab tools
the scientists can't actually see what problems the humans could face. Using animals can also be
useful when you do not know what kind of chemical you are looking for. The changes in the gene
expression patterns give clues about what kind of chemical is used. If animals were not tested on we
would not have some of the products that we have today. Animal testing has led to many of our
cleaning products we use every day. Without animal testing we wouldn't have these products
because we wouldn't know if the product were safe for humans to use. Animal testing can

Examples Of Manipulation In Animal Farm
Knowledge is a powerful tool. This seems to be a basic quality, many do not have this. In Animal
Farm a selected few, being the pigs, who have a vast amount of knowledge and use that to their
benefit. Instead of using this quality for the greater good of the farm, the pigs use it as a way to
manipulate the other animals for their own personal gain. Through the uneven distribution of labor,
the alteration of the seven commandments, and the persuasion of Snowballs mischief, the pigs show
that abuse of knowledge leads to the manipulation of the uneducated.
Early on the pigs are seen as the more educated animals on the farm: "The pigs now revealed that

Though the accusations are false they found a way to manipulate the other animals into believing it

because of their knowledge. The pigs use lies to turn the other animals against Snowball:
"Comrades, here and now I pronounce the death sentence upon Snowball [...] everyone began
thinking out ways of catching Snowball if he should ever come back" (47–48). Squealer convinces
the animals that Snowball is such a threat that they are willing to kill a leader they once looked up to
and sought guidance from. They manipulated the minds of the uneducated animals so much that
when anything went wrong on the farm their first instinct was to blame Snowball for it. It is said that
"If a window was broken or a drain was blocked up, someone was certain to say that Snowball had
come in the night and done it, and when the key of the store–shed was lost, the whole farm was
convinced that Snowball had thrown it down the well. Curiously enough, they went on believing
this even after the mislaid key was found under a sack of meal" (52). The pigs were able to use their

"Political Power grows out of the Barrel of a Gun" The idea of power and especially political power

Significantly, the motifs of blood and daggers, in Macbeth, are constantly present throughout scenes
in which the struggle for power takes place. Macbeth sees an "imaginary" dagger before him just
before the assassination of Duncan this dagger a motif of the changes of power that take place: "...Is
this a dagger which I see before me?... or art thou a dagger of the mind?" The theme of the
supernatural and also the motif of the dagger being his ambition, serves as strong motivation for
Macbeth to carry out what is necessary to obtain and sustain power. The rise of the Macbeths in the
murders of King Duncan and Banquo are symbolised by blood and daggers, yet it is also the
eventual downfall, mentally and physically, of the Macbeths that is symbolised by blood and
daggers. Lady Macbeth's mental breakdown towards the end of Macbeth is a complete juxtaposition
from the 'original' Lady Macbeth earlier in the text. After the murder of Duncan she remarks that the
blood on her hands will be washed away by a "...little water...", yet later she remarks in a dramatic
hyperbole remarking that "All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand". From this
point on, the Macbeths hold onto power deteriorates with the death of Lady Macbeth and the
eventual downfall of Macbeth. In Animal Farm, George Orwell has far blunter and clearer ideas on
the notion of power, especially on the struggle to obtain and sustain political power.

Animal Research : Is It Human Or Inhuman?
Animal research in psychology is a controversial issue that has raised many questions on whether it
should be allowed Is it human or inhuman? Peter Singer, a bioethicist, views animal research as a
form of discrimination and for the most part useless in findings. Singer believes that animals and
humans are not very different from each other; hence, asking why not test on humans too if it is
okay on animals? On the other hand, R.G. Frey, a professor of philosophy, argues that animal
research should be allowed since their meaning of life differs from ours. Also, Frey states that
animal testing had led to significant research. So, who is right?

after an experiment. Now many people may agree with Singer and find this inhumane but will agree
with the medical animal research. Frey, in "Justifying Animal Experiments: The Starting Point" in
Ellen Frankel Paul and Jeffery Paul, eds., Why Animal Experimentation Matters: The Use of
Animals in Medical Reseach (Transaction, 2001), states "Genetic research involving animals
promises new treatments for diseases that previously were thought to be intractable defects in the
human condition". Many people would agree that these animals testing to be useful since it helps
medical issues, yet do not realize the hypocrisies of agreeing with animal testing that benefits them
while disagreeing with animal testing when it hurts them in psychological.
Frey 's argument that animals cannot be distinguished from humans can be true. For example, Frey,

The Value Of Education In Animal Farm, By George Orwell

Ignorance
In a society where an elite class has access to tools that the masses do not, this elite group of people
often use these tools to dominate and oppress society. In George Orwell's story, Animal Farm,
Orwell demonstrates that education is a powerful weapon and is a tool that can be used to one's
advantage. Living in a world where power is easy to gain, the pigs quickly use education (or lack
thereof) to manipulate the rest of the animals on the farm to serve themselves. This story ultimately
reveals the underlying message that first, education is important to all levels of society, next, for
when it is not, society is stratified, resulting in the masses suffering. ... Show more content on

Orwell is able to show how when education is not given to all, it is very easy for those with it to
abuse it for more power. Now that the pigs have the initial advantage over the other animals, the
future holds plans of using it as a personal tool to oppression.
After the pigs have fully educated themselves, they continue to deny the others education and
change certain rules to assert their elite dominance. After Napoleon has gotten rid of Snowball to
have all power to himself, he takes away all power from the other animals as well. Napoleon
announces to all the animals:
From now on the Sunday
morning Meetings would come to an end... [also] all questions relating to
the working of the farm would be settled by a special committee of pigs, presided over by himself.
These would meet in private and afterwards communicate their decisions to the others...
[additionally] there would be no more debates." (21)
Through having Napoleon declare that "there would be no more debates,"Orwell is able to portray
that the pigs are silencing their subjects in order to maintain power for themselves. Napoleon's
education makes it possible for him to assume all power through manipulation. Napoleon's complete
control and silencing of the animals foreshadows that he may resort to more oppression and take

George Orwell's Use Of Education In Animal Farm
The pigs on Animal Farm use education to their advantage by controlling the other animals. The
story starts off with Old Major, the oldest pig, having a dream of being an independent farm, where
only animals would rule. Once the animals hear this, they push to make it a reality. They have a plan
to overthrow Mr. Jones but, before this plan could be executed Old Major dies. Power is
immediately given to the pigs because they are the smartest. The pigs use education as a tool for
control by becoming the leaders, managing what the other animals learned, and being able to easily
persuade the other animals. If the animals had been educated, then the ways Animal Farm was ruled
would be different; therefore, Orwell wants the reader to see how important ... Show more content

The pigs had a far greater education than the other animals, so it makes sense that the animals would
easily fall for lies. Squealer, the most persuasive of all of the pigs, is able to make anyone believe
that things on the farm are not as bad as they truthfully are. Boxer gets hurt and Napoleon sells him
to the knacker. He uses this money for alcohol. The animals started to figure out what happened and
became panicked, but with a lie created by Squealer, their worries are put to rest. Squealer is able to
cover this story up when Orwell writes, "Three days later it was announced that he had died in the
hospital at Willingdon, in spite of receiving every attention a horse could have. Squealer came to
announce the news to the others. He had, he said, been present during Boxer's last hours" (124) This
quote is clearly a lie that Squealer had told to the other animals so that they did not become
suspicious. This is important because it is another way that the pigs are using education to control.
The smartest animals, the pigs, lie to the other animals. This all goes back to the pigs not educating
the other animals as well as themselves. If the other animals had been educated, they would have

Have you ever wondered what it was like in the times of the Neolithic and Paleolithic people were
like? Like what were their natural resources? What did they wear? Did they have a government?
What were some common animals? In this assignment you will learn what it was like in the
Neolithic and Paleolithic times.
Some of the natural resources that the Neolithic and Paleolithic used was bronze, fertile land and
soil, rivers, sun, and animals. Neolithic and Paleolithic people used bronze to make tools and
weapons. They also ate animals in the surrounding area and used the animal's hides as clothing.
Geographic features included crops, rivers, and hills. Neolithic and Paleolithic people used crops to
trade for meat and other crops. Their major resources included water, rivers, ... Show more content

Neolithic people told stories with pictures and communication. The Neolithic believed in animal and
human spirits unlike the Paleolithic, who only believed in the animal spirits. The Neolithic people
had a celebration called cheers, it was all about alcoholic beverages, and despite this the Paleolithic
people mostly just had rain dances.
The Neolithic and Paleolithic people valued fire for warmth, light, and cooking. They also valued
tools for daily use like, chopping wood with an axe to start a fire. They traveled in clans of 20–30
people and had shown no values to ethnic groups. They considered hunting and gathering a sport of
survival. Common animals included woolly mammoths, woolly rhinoceros, sabretooth, wild goats,
buffalo, bison, and small mammals.
In conclusion, the Neolithic and Paleolithic people were very practical and interesting, building
tools, cooking food, making clothes, and even inventing fire. In this assignment you learned about
what they had for natural resources, what they wore, and common animals among the Neolithic and
Paleolithic

How Did Early Humans Live During The Stone Age?
Have you ever wondered what life was like for humans during the Stone Age? Life for early humans
was probably difficult and dangerous. People had to hunt their own food, build their own shelter,
and had to live in bad weather conditions as they migrated from Africa. Survival was the most
important goal of the early humans but they didn't have many resources. Life was really hard for
early humans so they made things that would help them survive and make their lives easier such as
tools and shelter.
One of the most important advancements during the Stone Age was the development
and use of tools. Tools allowed early humans to hunt, to build, and to perform important tasks
that made life easier for them. The first tools were made out of ... Show more content on

These sharpened stones are about the size of an adult's fist, and are about are about 2.6
million years old. Scientist believe people who lived during the Stone Age used these tools to hunt
deer, horses, bison, and elephant like creatures called mammoths. Eventually, early humans learned
how to make better tools. For example, they developed a hand ax that was made out of a mineral
called flint. People used the hand ax to cut tree limbs, to dig, and to cut animal hides. After early
humans developed better tools, hunters no longer had to stand close to the animals they were
hunting and were able to catch larger animals. As a reasult, early humans were able to feed more
people and the number of people who survived increased.
Hunting food was a huge part of an early humans life. Early humans moved from place to place,
hunting animals and gathering fruit, nuts, and berries. The development and use of tools eventually
made hunting easier for early humans and helped them to survive.
After early humans developed the tool called the ''sphere'' they were able to hunt for larger animals.
Early humans needed to hunt larger animals for many reasons. One of the reasons early humans
needed to hunt for large animals is because they needed

A Brief Summary Of My Body, My Shame By Elwood Reid
In the personal narrative "My Body, My Weapon, My Shame," Elwood Reid retells his experience
playing football for a Big Ten college. He goes through practice with intense ferocity and cares little
about physically abusing his body. However, despite his strength and athletic prowess, the coaches
only view him as something of their possession rather than a human being. From the practices to the
training room to the parties, Reid describes with reluctance and candor the sad reality of belonging
to someone else. As a football player who lends his body out every single play, from whistle to
whistle, enduring the pain and fatigue from both physical and mental abuse, he does not even get the
satisfaction of being called a human. Through similes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The use of marketplace is unique because it signifies, yet again, the concept of being owned and
sold. Here is Elwood Reid, an individual that comes from Cleveland who has a background and
history. Yet, like the rest of his teammates, he becomes branded by the system. With labels such as
"Flat–Ass Phil" or "Sweet Lou Reid," the "cows" are identified by their nicknames, an effective way
of dehumanizing them (68). By calling each other un–characteristic names, they distance themselves
from each other, making it easier for them to inflict pain upon each other. Naturally, nicknames are a
means of forming camaraderie between people, but in this case, it is the exact opposite. In Reid's
situation, the nicknames contain heavy derogatory notions. Rather than to make someone feel proud
or special about their characteristics, the teammates pinpoint a trait about each other and use it as a
bullying tactic. Names such as "Pin Dick" and "Dead Fuck" do not create a sense of warmth and
friendship and instead seems more of a way for the players to ridicule each other (68). This
psychological tactic will make it easier for them to accept their fate when better players replace
them. Like cows on the grazing field, the football players are all going through the same artificial
selection as a group. But one key difference that

Learning And Solving The Animal Kingdom
Teddy Miqui Psych 243 Learning and Problem Solving in the Animal Kingdom In the animal
kingdom certain groups of animals have an ability to learn and use their environment around them to
overcome certain obstacles. It is very rare to find animals that have the cognitive ability to solve
these types of problems. However, certain animals have the ability to use tools to solve certain
issues with their environment. While other animals have the ability to solve complex puzzles to get

surroundings and use their intellect to solve certain issues they are considered quite intelligent, but

Whenever one animal teacher another they are using a learning method called social learning. This
technique is not unique to animal kingdom, even in our society we have people teaching other skills
or piece of information that we deem useful for our purposes. However animals find certain things
more than humans such as the ability to acquire food and water. In groups of Meer cats it was found
that certain individuals were designated to teach the younger individuals how to property hunt
scorpions without being stung. This is a direct example of social learning within the animal
kingdom, in this study it was found that those individuals taught how to hunt were more likely to
capture the scorpions without actually being stung compared to those who were just given the food
from a young age (Thornton,, 2008). Social learning can also be seen in more advance species such
as primates. As seen in Catherine Hobaiter article there many forms of social learning that can occur
in species such as chimpanzees. It was found that within a group of chimps younger individuals
learned how to use moss sponging from older individual within their tribe (Hobaiter, 2014). This
allowed them to absorb water and drink the contents from the sponge. This technique was useful for
the chimps to learn because this allowed them to gather and drink water reliably in the wild. This

Similarities Between Humans and Chimpanzees
According to National Geographic, scientists have sequenced the genome factor of the chimpanzee
and found that humans are 98.5% similar to the ape species. The chimpanzee is our closest relative
in the animal kingdom; however, some people are not aware of our resembling traits with
chimpanzees. Jane Goodall's, In the Shadow of Man, describes some similar traits humans and
chimpanzees have such as their facial expressions and emotions, use of tools, and diet. Chimpanzees
portray their emotions through a number of facial expressions and mannerisms. Just like humans,
they undergo mood swings, jealous rages, and laughter. For instance, Goodall observed during her
research that a male gorilla "would threaten [me] with an upward and ... Show more content on

Emotions play an extremely important role in human mental life. Unlike the chimpanzee, human
emotions are easier to read because of their physical responses such as tears in their eyes or their lips
changing shape. In the same way as chimpanzees, humans use gestures to communicate with each
other, yet they use words instead of sounds. The use of tools comes to practice everyday as
chimpanzees collect food from the jungle. Goodall describes how chimpanzees in Tanzania's Gombe
National Park use straw and blades of grass poke holes to hunt for termites by "squatting beside the
termite nest, pushing and withdrawing the long grass stem through a hole". Moreover, during
Gooddal's research, she observed chimpanzees modifying tools, such as small leafy twigs, thus
showing the beginnings of tool making. Chimpanzees in West Africa also use tools to get honey
from underground bees' nests. Recently, scientists found out that chimpanzees living in West
Savannah use deadly spears from sticks and hand crafted tools to hunt for small animals. Similarly,
humans use tools and modify tools everyday to make life easier for them. However, humans have
better technology and a variety of tools. For instance, humans use cars and airplanes to travel to and
from different locations. Instead of hunting for food like the chimpanzees, humans buy food from
local grocery stores. Scientists are always finding ways for technology to be beneficial to human
usage

Rituals: The Inuit People
Many people, when they think of Native Americans, will think of dancing and strange rituals, which
is not the case with the Inuit Tribe. The Inuit Tribe are located in the far Arctic North. Also known as
the Eskimo, the Inuit people have adapted to live in the freezing temperatures. They live by some of
the most common ways Native Americans do. They practice not to waste anything they kill and also
practice making arts. The Inuit Tribe have many ways to survive in the wild even with the hardships
and scarce resources around them (Sontella 5).

similar to a harpoon.
The Inuit Indians also catch lots of other animals. The Inuit people rely on fish, sea mammals, and
land animals for food, heat, light, clothing, tools, and shelter( ? ). The Inuit Tribe is all about not

Neolithic Revolution Research Paper
The Neolithic Revolution was a time just after the Paleolithic Era. The people during the Neolithic
Revolution were beginning to advance with many things including the ability to be able to farm and
make their own foods. The Paleolithic Era, on the other hand, was much different. The people
during this time were less advance and depended on animals and edible foods to get their nutrition.
Just because of that, the people of the Paleolithic Era would live their lives far shorter than the
people of the Neolithic Revolution. Although the Paleolithic Era was very important, the Neolithic
Revolution by far introduced more advanced technology and ways of living.
One key way that the Neolithic Revolution was important is that they began to farm. Farming has
been used for thousands of years now and it's a way that people can get an abundance of food
without having to hunt. The people of this time also began to learn different types of skills that
people still use to this day. One, for example, is pottery and weaving skills. Pottery mainly helped
people of the Neolithic Revolution because it let them store different items. For example, food and
water. The weaving let them craft more advanced equipment and clothing. They also began to ...

Charles Darwin, A Scientist And Natural Observer Of The World
In 1871, a scientist and natural observer of the world published a book named The Descent of Man,
despite it contradicting the widely held religious beliefs of the time. Charles Darwin, the naturalist
famous for his contributions to evolutionary theory, applies his own theories of evolution to humans
in his book, The Descent of Man, and explains that the common cognitive characteristics which
define humans as unique have "...no fundamental difference between man and the higher mammals"
(34). Darwin is able to push this point forward by hypothesising about the development of early man
and how natural selection gave rise to certain mental capacities that are only a bit more evolved than
other animals. The mental faculties he chooses to address in his publication are imitation, attention,
memory, imagination, reasoning, and toolmaking. First, it is important to understand what natural
selection and evolution are and how they would have strengthened mankind 's brains. According to
Darwin's own theory of natural selection, organisms that are most fit for their environment are the
ones that survive and pass on their traits to their offspring. The less fit genes, and their carriers, go
extinct from the gene pool. Eventually, the gradual changes over a long period of time add up and
the end result is a new species derived from another. Most observed animals evolve through the
modification of their physical structure to suit their environments; however, humans have uniquely
evolved

Human Attractiveness In Amanda Seed's Animal Tool-Use
The research "Animal Tool–Use" was written by Amanda Seed and Richard Byrne. They spotted an
animal making and using a tool and laymen alike probably because it forces us to question the idea
about human uniqueness. Different animals have various ways to create, manufacture, and use tools.
The ones that received the most attention and are most wide–ranging are the technologies of
chimpanzees. The chimps use stones to crack hard nuts, sharpen sticks to spear bush babies in the
tree holes, and underground bee hives. These behaviors let researchers and psychologists conclude
that primates are the most frequent users of tools among all the mammals. Not only primates create
and use tools, some of the impressive non–human tools are made by New Caledonian crows. They
extract grubs from tree holes by using a tool that is made by twigs with hooks on one end. As
researchers have found, using a tool as an extension of the body would have consequences for
psychological processes including perception, attention, and cognition since the body's periphery
part would therefore change in mechanical and sensory capabilities. There are also researches
suggest that "humans and monkeys, their extended motor capability is followed by changes in ...

The lifestyle of early humans in the Stone Age was different from human life now. The Stone Age
hominids were very spiritualistic and practiced animism, a belief system that states that everything

the world and events. Certain individuals who were thought to have magical powers were called
shamans or witchdoctors. They were respected and feared by others due to their supposed power and

They also used ochre in a purely decorative way. The iron ore makes a fine paint that can be easily

transition to abstract thinking. It also implies the use of oral language because making and
understanding such art would be impossible without it. Previously scientists thought that oral
language was only 30,000 years old but the art in the cave was about 75,000 years old.
The hominids lived in small social groups that consisted of family units and kinship ties. Eventually
neighboring groups combined and created band and tribes. The group members worked together to

Paleo-Indian Period
"The history of American Indians before European contact is broadly divided into three major
periods: the Paleo–Indian period, the Archaic period (8000–1000 b.c.), and the Woodland period
(1000 b.c.–1600 a.d.)."(DiNome) There is little known information about the Paleo–Indian period;
however, the Paleo Indians are believed to be some of the first American Indians, not only in
Florida, but in all of America. The Paleo Indians were believed to be nomads who fought and hunted
with stone tools and clubs. During the Archaic period American Indians began to become more
civilized. It was in the Archaic period that the American Indians began to establish a system of
trading among their people. During this time the Indians also started developing migration routes to
bring other Indians down to Florida from the Carolinas. Similarly to the Indians in the Paleo time
period, the Indians in the Archaic period used stone tools for hunting and fighting, but they also
began to utilize the use of bone tools during this time period. Another skill that the Indians started
becoming more familiar with during this time period was basketry. The last period that we see in

Essay On Animal Farm Propaganda
Languages of Propaganda
Propaganda is a way of information in an effort to manipulate or influence society. The language
people use in a persuasive speech, news articles, or other communicating articles of can be a very
powerful tool for propaganda. There are many different types of propaganda such as
suggestion/stimulation, hints, insinuations, indirect statement, and appeal to the known desire/fear,
songs, slogans, and poems (American Historical Association). All of these were used in the 1946
novel, Animal Farm, written by George Orwell. Also most of these methods in modern day. In the
novel they use propaganda to show how a revolution, no matter how good a person's intentions is at
first, can slowly turn into a system that was no better than when they began. Language used in
propaganda is a very powerful tool.
In the novel written by Orwell propaganda is used to manipulate the idea and the feeling of the
animals. One of the pigs in the novel that made most of the speeches and used the most propaganda
was "Squealer." It was so easy for the speech maker to convince the other animals what would

Anthropology

So first of all some of their artwork is because of how they build it and the supplies you need for it.

are different are on how they dress for example the haida men wear shirts and leggings that are
made from animal hide and skin. The next reason why they are different is because they have
different celebrations that they celeberate like the sioux celebrate on when they have something
special like a baby is going to be born. And finally that they are differents is because of their religion
and if they have a religion like the inuit has a religion of catholic and crichin. Another example of
how their religions they have is if they believe in their own gods and if they just believe in one god
that might made or not made us. Is catholic. they can also be different because of their skin color

What 's The Point If We Can 't Have Fun?
David Graeber, wrote "What's the Point if We Can't Have Fun?" for The Baffler and he eloquently
uses several rhetorical devices. These devices are used to convey the idea that Science can not quite
seem to prove. Do animals play? Or are we personifying these Animals behaviors? Graeber presents
some research on this topic, but rather than repeating facts he uses his rhetorical tools to expand on
the ideas presented. The tools he used could be categorized into logos, pathos, and ethos. Although
some of these tools do not quite fit into one category, or they fit into two. This shows expert writing,
and proper use of the rhetorical tools. For instance scientific research is essentially logos, but at the
same time it is used as ethos, appealing to someone who knows more than you, the reader.
Metaphor, and imagery can all be related to pathos, these rhetorical tools help us to relate via
emotion. These are just a few examples of the tools that he uses to convey his ideas in this article. A
rhetorical tool that is used in this article has already been referenced, scientific research. He
references experts in the field new and old, experts such as Charles Darwin, and Herbert Spencer.
By doing this he appeals to a higher authority on the topic of animals and whether they play or not.
He consistently refers to previous research done by a third party. It keeps him grounded in a factual
basis so he can discuss his ideas. The research is complimented by another tool, metaphor. He

Decoding of the Primal Emotional Experiences of Humans and Animals from neuroscience
perspective
The article on the science news titled 'What is the cognitive rift between humans and animals' sheds
light on the major cognitive differences between animals and humans. A scientist from the Harvard
University synthesized some key variations that is existent in human and animal cognition into what
precisely distinct human thought and that of animal. Marc Hauser, professor of psychology from
Harvard presents his concept of the uniqueness of humankind, which make human cognition unique.
The professor of psychology was of the opinion that animals share a lot of features that is evident in
human thought, but ironically, there is a cognitive lacuna between humans and other animals. The
professor contends that by analyzing the principal differences in cognitive abilities, some elements
are found that are of human cognition and are distinctively human.
The challenge that emerges though is the recognition of the systems that animals and human have in
common, those that are distinct, and how they interact and interface with one another. In recent
times, some scientists have come to the realization that some animals think in ways that at some
point were perceived unique to humankind. For instance, some animals have episodic memory or
mathematical proficiency that is non–linguistic. Nonetheless, despite these obvious similarities, a
cognitive gap still exists between humans and other

He first uses pathos when he talked about how many animals are euthanized each year and how
those animals are used for food (Foer). By using pathos it either brings out the audience's sympathy
or anger trying to convince them to make a difference. In his article he is trying to appeal to the
audience emotional side to convince them eating animals is wrong. The second time he uses pathos
is when he talks about how the Hawaiians hold the dog's nose shut ¬¬in order to conserve the blood
(Foer). When he talks about other cultures traditions, he is trying to show his readers how disgusting
and horrifying other traditions are no matter which animal is being killed. The third time he uses
pathos in his article is when he talks about a Filipino recipe. "First, kill a medium–sized dog, then
burn the fur over a hot fire (Foer). While reading this sentence most animal lovers would feel
horrified at the mental image running through their mind. His whole point of using the Filipino
recipe was to show people how other cultures use different animals, but he mostly wanted people to
see if the recipe called for chicken, cow, or even horse most people would be okay with the recipe.
Pathos is a good tool to use in ones article because emotion is a good way to capture the audience to

Deep Intellect

  • 1. Deep Intellect In "The Brains of the Animal Kingdom" by Frans De Waal, he would describe intelligence as learning how to use tools correctly, to accomplish completing task the right way. Frans De Waal's describes how humans may think that animals are not as smart as we think, but they actually prove us wrong. Animals have their ways of performing tasks and accomplishing things they have to do. De Waal sets an elephant as an example and he states, "Kandula ignored the sticks but, after a while, began kicking the box with his foot. He kicked it many times in a straight line until it was right underneath the branch. He then stood on the box with his front legs, which enabled him to reach the food with his trunk. An elephant, it turns out, can use tools–if they are the right ones" (De Waal 3). Just like humans, an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Montgomery's point of view was that octopus were characterized by their chameleon like skin color, textures and shape changes, to their eight–armed coordination's, up to their playful intelligence. Montgomery experienced being around an octopus and how they acted when they were around other individuals. For example: Athena one of the largest octopus in the aquarium. Sy stated, "When I stroked her soft head with my fingertips, she changed color beneath my touch, her ruby–flecked skin going white and smooth. This, I learned, is a sign of a relaxed octopus. An agitated giant Pacific octopus turns red, its skin gets pimply, and it erects two papillae over the eyes, which some divers say look like horns" ( Montgomery 61). An octopus knows how to interact with the individual they come to contact with. Many may think that octopuses are not intelligent, but they are in so many ways. Octopus may perform task from opening jars, to escaping their tanks and hiding, to even "running" around avoiding to get caught. Montgomery points out that octopus can teach us about nature and consciousness of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of... A. Are there certain supplies, tools, or equipment that students should provide? What are the advantages and disadvantages of student–provided supplies, tools, and equipment? Be sure to include examples in your response. I teach in the automotive field and in my class we make them bring their own supplies like paper, pencil or pen and the text book. We give them one pair of safety glasses when they start the program and if they lose them they have to buy another pair. One of the advantages in them bringing their own supplies is they will keep up with them and have them the next class period. When I started teaching I had a cup on my desk with pens and pencils that students could use. What I started noticing was that I was finding pens and pencils everywhere in the room but back in the cup. So I put them all away and make sure the students bring their own. In my program, Ford ASSET, we don't make the students bring their own tools to class but the general automotive classes do make them bring their own tools. My students have to have their own tools at the dealership during the co–op portion of the semester so we don't have them bring them to class. There again, they don't seem to take care of the tools like they would if it was their own tools. The tools don't get put back where they got them from and a lot of times they don't even get put back in the tool box, I find them left in the cars and at the work stations. I am still trying to keep up with a good solution because if they have to bring them to class everyday they will want to store them on the classroom, so then who is responsible for them if they get gone. So the advantage of students bringing their own supplies and tools is they will take better care of them and keep track of them. The disadvantage of the students brining their own tools is who is responsible for them if the students leave them between classes and where are you going to store eighteen tool boxes between classes. B. Your textbook indicates that equipment purchased for an instructional laboratory should replicate that found in business and industry. What are some specific benefits (in your field) associated with this concept? What are some of the challenges (in your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. What Makes Us Human? What makes us human? For thousands of years, we have struggled to describe what it means to be human. Is it the way we walk, the size of our brain, the tools we use, or our capacity for emotion? All of these can make a difference when it comes to understanding our ancestry and what makes us special. Brain size is a determining factor in the intelligence of a species. Many people would think that the larger the brain, the smarter the species; however, a species can have very large brains and bodies to match. Because of this problem, we use a ratio called the encephalization quotient (EQ) to accurately measure "how 'brainy' an animal is for its body size" (Walker 216). An EQ value ranges from 1 to 12. The EQ of a chimpanzee is anywhere from 2 to 4, while that of a modern human is anywhere from 5 to 10 (Walker 216). This may not seem like a very large difference, but there are distinctive qualities that make human brains superior. For example, the cortex, known as the "seat of intelligence" is responsible for where memories and senses are stored to be utilized (Campbell 84). The cortex of a human brain makes up about 80% of its volume, while the cortex of a chimpanzee brain makes up about 75% of its volume (Campbell 84). This is where the difference between humans and other animals, including chimpanzees, lies, and it is because of this that we have the "ability to look inward and observe our own mental processes: Humans not only think but know they are thinking. ... • 7. What Is Chimpanzees Like Humans INTRODUCTION Chimpanzees are the closest living relatives to humans. They are some of the only animals who have thumbs and are able to grasp things almost as well as humans. There overall anatomy is what also shows their similarity to us. They, just like humans, have two arms, two legs, and one head. Chimpanzees are known for their unbelievable strength and intelligence, which has led them to be a popular research topic. They can be found in environments such as rainforests and savannahs across west and central Africa. These primates have been observed for many years and have undoubtedly proven their intelligence and unique culture. Chimpanzees can attribute their evolutionary success to their ability to use tools, adapt to their environment, and to pass on things they have learned from generation to generation. ... Jane Goodall was able to make fascinating discoveries of tool use among chimps in the wild. According to the article "Design Complexity in Termite–Fishing Tools of Chimpanzees" Jane Goodall observed a chimp ripping leaves off of a stick to use to catch termites. By ripping the unwanted leaves off of the stick the chimp was able to fit the stick in a hole in the termite mound and let the termites crawl all over it. The chimp could then eventually pull the stick out very carefully and eat the termites much more efficiently. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, cruelty to animals has increased over the past years. To help put an end to animal cruelty, the government has created laws but, the community created a program, ASPCA. ASPCA is sited for American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. What does an SPCA worker do to help prevent cruelty to animals? What characteristics, features, requirements, obligations does an ASPCA officer has? To begin with, a ASPCA worker is like a officer but, instead of putting someone behind the bars or on jail, it's rescues any kind of animals.Sounds like an easy task to accomplish but, every ASPCA employee risks its life every day to rescues wild animals or domestic animals because of human actions. The animal control officers should have the compassion and care of the animals, but must also show respect for humans. What ... • 11. Rhetorical Analysis Of Persuasion "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated" quote by Mahatma Gandhi. Over 115 million animals are killed in laboratory experiments worldwide for drug, cosmetics, chemical and food testing every year. Nowadays, advertising agencies against animal abuse are deciding to use shocking tactics to get their point across about ending animal cruelty. There are several advertisements that address different types of issues, but at the end of the day all they are trying to do is to give a voice to the voiceless, the animals. In order for these agencies to get the ability to manipulate and the full attention of the audience they need to use the most common persuasive strategies. Those persuasive strategies can also be known as the rhetorical tools of persuasion, which are the appeals to pathos, logos, and ethos, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to The University Writing Center of Texas A&M University, rhetoric is the study of how speakers and writers use words to influence an audience. A rhetorical analysis is an essay that breaks a work of non–fiction into parts and then explains how the parts work together to create a certain effect, whether to persuade, entertain or inform. Also, you can conduct a rhetorical analysis of a primarily visual argument such as an advertisement or a cartoon, which we are doing with the anti– animal abuse advertisements. A rhetorical analysis should explore the rhetorician's goals, the tools (or techniques) used, examples of those techniques, and the effectiveness of those techniques. By me writing a rhetorical analysis on animal abuse, I am not saying whether or not I agree with the argument. Instead, I am discussing how the rhetorician makes that argument and whether or not the approach used is successful ("University Writing Center" ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Animal Forms Of Communication As Less Complex Or... As humans, we find it easy to conclude that we are the smartest, most superior beings on the planet. What is it that makes us so certain that this is true? Animals do not speak our language, so we make the judgment that they are less. If we look beyond our own form of verbal communication, we may find that the domesticated animals we keep as pets are trying to communicate with us sometimes, especially dogs. Do they not greet us at the door, running with a wagging tail? Do they not try to warn and ward off potential intruders? Do they not want to eat whatever it is that a person is eating, even if that means licking crumbs off the plate just before it goes in the dish washer? Cats communicate through habits of their own – they purr and hiss. Why do we evaluate animal forms of communication as less complex or intelligent than our own? Though we often see non–human animals as inferior, viewing their intelligence as fundamentally different from our own, imagining them as incapable of communicating in a way similar to humans, and focusing on differences in physical form and societal structure, humans and other animals are far more similar than we might think. Particular similarities exist between humans and primates. In the book Evolution and Human Behavior: Darwinian Perspectives on Human Nature, John Cartwright writes, "In terms of the amino acid sequences in a range of blood proteins, and hence the genes responsible, we are virtually identical to chimpanzees" (162–4). ... • 15. Anthropology Thesis Anthropology Thesis Humans, as a species are not unique. We are similar to many other groups of animals in practically any way imaginable. We may be slightly more developed but we are not unique. We share characteristics, values, traits and our history with them. These similarities are especially common between humans and other major mammals like, rodents and primates, and the fact that our medicines and beauty products are tested on them proves that humans are, in many ways, are connected to animals. We should not consider ourselves superior just based on the fact, that we have 'opposable thumbs' or a larynx to offer our opinion compared to the other creatures around us. Culture The concepts that we generally connect with culture are– Art, theater, literature, music, religion, architecture and cuisine. Clearly though, no other species have shown significant signs of having anything approaching this level of social refinement. • 19. Neolithic Revolution: The Inevitable Boost Of Civilization The Neolithic Revolution was a major change in the way people lived in 10,000 BCE. The transformation from hunting and gathering to agriculture led to stable settlement, the establishment of social classes, and inevitable boost of civilization. The Neolithic Revolution began with farming. The people domesticated animals and plants. Animal domestication might have started by instead of killing animals, they started to round them up. They could then use them how they always did for their skin and for food, but now they also benefited by using their eggs and milk. Plant domestication might have happened by them realizing that drop seeds in dirt leads to new plant growing in the following year. The Paleolithic people were nomadic. They used to move around in groups to gather food to live off of. The men hunted, they found and killed animals, and the women and children went looking for berries, nuts, grains, and fruits. Essay about Using Animals in Research and Experimentation Animals should be used for research and Experimentation because if the animals get sick or show any signs of acting abnormal then the scientists know it isn't safe for humans to use. Animal research has played a big role in nearly every medical breakthrough over the last decade. Animals have the same organ system that perform the same task, which helps determine if what is being tested is safe for humans to use. Using animals can actually show you what could happen to humans, but when just using lab tools the scientists can't actually see what problems the humans could face. Using animals can also be useful when you do not know what kind of chemical you are looking for. The changes in the gene expression patterns give clues about what kind of chemical is used. Significantly, the motifs of blood and daggers, in Macbeth, are constantly present throughout scenes in which the struggle for power takes place. Macbeth sees an "imaginary" dagger before him just before the assassination of Duncan this dagger a motif of the changes of power that take place: "...Is this a dagger which I see before me?... or art thou a dagger of the mind?" The theme of the supernatural and also the motif of the dagger being his ambition, serves as strong motivation for Macbeth to carry out what is necessary to obtain and sustain power. The rise of the Macbeths in the murders of King Duncan and Banquo are symbolised by blood and daggers, yet it is also the eventual downfall, mentally and physically, of the Macbeths that is symbolised by blood and daggers. Lady Macbeth's mental breakdown towards the end of Macbeth is a complete juxtaposition from the 'original' Lady Macbeth earlier in the text. After the murder of Duncan she remarks that the blood on her hands will be washed away by a "...little water...", yet later she remarks in a dramatic hyperbole remarking that "All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand". From this point on, the Macbeths hold onto power deteriorates with the death of Lady Macbeth and the eventual downfall of Macbeth. The Value Of Education In Animal Farm, By George Orwell Evan Thomas Period 1 Kas–Margoi English 9A Monday, July 16, 2017 Ignorance In a society where an elite class has access to tools that the masses do not, this elite group of people often use these tools to dominate and oppress society. In George Orwell's story, Animal Farm, Orwell demonstrates that education is a powerful weapon and is a tool that can be used to one's advantage. Living in a world where power is easy to gain, the pigs quickly use education (or lack thereof) to manipulate the rest of the animals on the farm to serve themselves. This story ultimately reveals the underlying message that first, education is important to all levels of society, next, for when it is not, society is stratified, resulting in the masses suffering. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orwell is able to show how when education is not given to all, it is very easy for those with it to abuse it for more power. Now that the pigs have the initial advantage over the other animals, the future holds plans of using it as a personal tool to oppression. After the pigs have fully educated themselves, they continue to deny the others education and change certain rules to assert their elite dominance. After Napoleon has gotten rid of Snowball to have all power to himself, he takes away all power from the other animals as well. He uses this money for alcohol. The animals started to figure out what happened and became panicked, but with a lie created by Squealer, their worries are put to rest. Squealer came to announce the news to the others. He had, he said, been present during Boxer's last hours" (124) This quote is clearly a lie that Squealer had told to the other animals so that they did not become suspicious. • 53. Charles Darwin, A Scientist And Natural Observer Of The World In 1871, a scientist and natural observer of the world published a book named The Descent of Man, despite it contradicting the widely held religious beliefs of the time. Charles Darwin, the naturalist famous for his contributions to evolutionary theory, applies his own theories of evolution to humans in his book, The Descent of Man, and explains that the common cognitive characteristics which define humans as unique have "...no fundamental difference between man and the higher mammals" (34). Darwin is able to push this point forward by hypothesising about the development of early man and how natural selection gave rise to certain mental capacities that are only a bit more evolved than other animals. The mental faculties he chooses to address in his publication are imitation, attention, memory, imagination, reasoning, and toolmaking. First, it is important to understand what natural selection and evolution are and how they would have strengthened mankind 's brains. According to Darwin's own theory of natural selection, organisms that are most fit for their environment are the ones that survive and pass on their traits to their offspring. The less fit genes, and their carriers, go extinct from the gene pool. Eventually, the gradual changes over a long period of time add up and the end result is a new species derived from another. Most observed animals evolve through the modification of their physical structure to suit their environments; however, humans have uniquely evolved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Human Attractiveness In Amanda Seed's Animal Tool-Use The research "Animal Tool–Use" was written by Amanda Seed and Richard Byrne. They spotted an animal making and using a tool and laymen alike probably because it forces us to question the idea about human uniqueness. Different animals have various ways to create, manufacture, and use tools. The ones that received the most attention and are most wide–ranging are the technologies of chimpanzees. The chimps use stones to crack hard nuts, sharpen sticks to spear bush babies in the tree holes, and underground bee hives. These behaviors let researchers and psychologists conclude that primates are the most frequent users of tools among all the mammals. Not only primates create and use tools, some of the impressive non–human tools are made by New Caledonian crows. They extract grubs from tree holes by using a tool that is made by twigs with hooks on one end. As researchers have found, using a tool as an extension of the body would have consequences for psychological processes including perception, attention, and cognition since the body's periphery part would therefore change in mechanical and sensory capabilities. There are also researches suggest that "humans and monkeys, their extended motor capability is followed by changes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Stone Age hominids were very spiritualistic and practiced animism, a belief system that states that everything has its own spirt including people, animals and all of nature. They believed that these spirits affected the world and events. Certain individuals who were thought to have magical powers were called shamans or witchdoctors. They were respected and feared by others due to their supposed power and control over events and the community. Previously scientists thought that oral language was only 30,000 years old but the art in the cave was about 75,000 years old. The hominids lived in small social groups that consisted of family units and kinship ties. Eventually neighboring groups combined and created band and tribes. The group members worked together to hunt and forage what they needed from the natural environment. They hunted for birds and other animals such as mammoths, bison, deer and rodents. They gathered roots and berries from the trees and bushes in the area. When the land's resources were drained, the tribes moved on to a new area. Paleo-Indian Period "The history of American Indians before European contact is broadly divided into three major periods: the Paleo–Indian period, the Archaic period (8000–1000 b.c.), and the Woodland period (1000 b.c.–1600 a.d.)."(DiNome) There is little known information about the Paleo–Indian period; however, the Paleo Indians are believed to be some of the first American Indians, not only in Florida, but in all of America. The Paleo Indians were believed to be nomads who fought and hunted with stone tools and clubs. During the Archaic period American Indians began to become more civilized. It was in the Archaic period that the American Indians began to establish a system of trading among their people. During this time the Indians also started developing migration routes to bring other Indians down to Florida from the Carolinas. Similarly to the Indians in the Paleo time period, the Indians in the Archaic period used stone tools for hunting and fighting, but they also began to utilize the use of bone tools during this time period. Another skill that the Indians started becoming more familiar with during this time period was basketry. The last period that we see in pre–contact Native American life is the Woodland period. It is called the Woodland period because during this time is when the Native Americans began farming. We see during this time the Indian settlements had begun moving closer to streams of water and rivers, because that is where the soil was good for successful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The language people use in a persuasive speech, news articles, or other communicating articles of can be a very powerful tool for propaganda. There are many different types of propaganda such as suggestion/stimulation, hints, insinuations, indirect statement, and appeal to the known desire/fear, songs, slogans, and poems (American Historical Association). All of these were used in the 1946 novel, Animal Farm, written by George Orwell. Also most of these methods in modern day. In the novel they use propaganda to show how a revolution, no matter how good a person's intentions is at first, can slowly turn into a system that was no better than when they began. Language used in propaganda is a very powerful tool. In the novel written by Orwell propaganda is used to manipulate the idea and the feeling of the animals. One of the pigs in the novel that made most of the speeches and used the most propaganda was "Squealer." It was so easy for the speech maker to convince the other animals what would happen or what they were going to change. • 65. But the primary idea of culture can also be defined as the ways in which a group performs their daily activities and what they revolve around, learned from one another and passed down the generations, and other primate species, like monkeys, great apes etc. undoubtedly have practices that are unique to specific groups, such as a certain way of greeting each other, showing ... The next reason why they are different is because they have different celebrations that they celeberate like the sioux celebrate on when they have something special like a baby is going to be born. And finally that they are differents is because of their religion and if they have a religion like the inuit has a religion of catholic and crichin. • 69. What 's The Point If We Can 't Have Fun? David Graeber, wrote "What's the Point if We Can't Have Fun?" for The Baffler and he eloquently uses several rhetorical devices. These devices are used to convey the idea that Science can not quite seem to prove. Do animals play? Or are we personifying these Animals behaviors? Graeber presents some research on this topic, but rather than repeating facts he uses his rhetorical tools to expand on the ideas presented. The tools he used could be categorized into logos, pathos, and ethos. Although some of these tools do not quite fit into one category, or they fit into two. This shows expert writing, and proper use of the rhetorical tools. For instance scientific research is essentially logos, but at the same time it is used as ethos, appealing to someone who knows more than you, the reader. Metaphor, and imagery can all be related to pathos, these rhetorical tools help us to relate via emotion. These are just a few examples of the tools that he uses to convey his ideas in this article. A rhetorical tool that is used in this article has already been referenced, scientific research. He references experts in the field new and old, experts such as Charles Darwin, and Herbert Spencer. By doing this he appeals to a higher authority on the topic of animals and whether they play or not. He consistently refers to previous research done by a third party. It keeps him grounded in a factual basis so he can discuss his ideas. The research is complimented by another tool, metaphor. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Decoding Of The Primal Emotional Experiences Of Humans And... Decoding of the Primal Emotional Experiences of Humans and Animals from neuroscience perspective The article on the science news titled 'What is the cognitive rift between humans and animals' sheds light on the major cognitive differences between animals and humans. A scientist from the Harvard University synthesized some key variations that is existent in human and animal cognition into what precisely distinct human thought and that of animal. Marc Hauser, professor of psychology from Harvard presents his concept of the uniqueness of humankind, which make human cognition unique. The professor of psychology was of the opinion that animals share a lot of features that is evident in human thought, but ironically, there is a cognitive lacuna between humans and other animals. The professor contends that by analyzing the principal differences in cognitive abilities, some elements are found that are of human cognition and are distinctively human. The challenge that emerges though is the recognition of the systems that animals and human have in common, those that are distinct, and how they interact and interface with one another. In recent times, some scientists have come to the realization that some animals think in ways that at some point were perceived unique to humankind. For instance, some animals have episodic memory or mathematical proficiency that is non–linguistic. Nonetheless, despite these obvious similarities, a cognitive gap still exists between humans and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Radial grip percentage was measured to determine the categorization. Evidence showed that there was higher radial grip percentage in self–directed task than in external directed task; moreover, there was no difference in radial grip percentage between different tools. Hence, the categorizing of direction of action would be considered as an important indicator for the rest of the study. The second time he uses pathos is when he talks about how the Hawaiians hold the dog's nose shut ¬¬in order to conserve the blood (Foer).
