2. Toddlers & Young 3’s News:
The toddlers have had a very busy summer thus far with going on field trips with the preschoolers to many wonderful adventures
within our own classroom or on Kendal grounds. Every child likes boxes not matter the size and during box week we collected quite an array
of sizes and shapes thanks to many of our parents. Maddie and Sebastian were quite content sitting inside the boxes sometimes alone and
other times with ta favorite toy. While Savannah and Lucia enjoyed the baby-doll cradles we made with boxes. Mason liked putting all sorts
of things inside boxes and then dumping them out and laughing. Noah really liked to crawl through the obstacle course tunnel we made
using several boxes taped together.
Sports week was just as much fun, we had balloons tied to our ceiling all week long and all of the toddlers got lots of exercise
running and jumping to get all 13 balloons. Miracle and Nadia liked guessing all the different colors as they played with the balloons and
were pretty good at throwing, kicking, and catching balls as well.
This month we have Lucia, Nadia, and Miracle, who are now three and a half, moving over to the preschool side! We will miss you
friends. Also, in August, we will be working on color and name recognition. The toddlers have loved our new lesson plans and have really
been challenged more with us providing more of a “pre-preschool” program in our classroom.
Have a great month,
Jeni, Julie & Robin
Preschool News:
Our trip to the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center was enjoyed by all. The children
got the chance to see many wild creatures up close and the weather was perfect. We enjoyed
our outdoor picnic and walk to the lake for ice cream. Upon our return when asked what they
like the best the most common answers were the snakes, the “Nemo” fish, and the beehive.
Aaron also added that he really liked walking under the highway where the echoes were; he
was referring to the underground walkway we used to travel across to the lake. Our
appreciation goes out to Marie Evans (Kendal resident), Donna Smith (Parent and Bus Driver),
and Sarah Anney (Parent) for all their help to make our trip successful.
In the classroom this past month we found ourselves drawing treasure maps so that
we might find a hidden treasure at Kendal. Our treasure hunt was prosperous, and the
children said it felt so good to be rich. We also worked on our large gross motor skills during
Sports Week as we practiced kicking, shooting, and dribbling a ball in addition to completing
an obstacle course with scooter relays.
This month our class will be growing, and we are happy to welcome Lucia, Nadia,
and Lucia to the preschool side. Also we welcome two new friends, Nicholas and Giuliana, as
we say goodbye to Aaron and Ian who are off to Kindergarten.
Have a great month!
Sara and Karen
