1. This summer is moving by fast and we are late getting our newsletter out. We’ve been going through a lot of
change on our end over the past few months including the curriculum, room arrangement, Ohio Early Learning
Standards changes, preparing for our NAEYC renewal process, and getting ready for our new online assessment
piece. With all this going on we are excited but very busy. Our new assessment piece will allow you to log on
and see your child’s progress, share comments with teachers about what you’ve seen at home, and even share
pictures. In addition we can print child progress reports for you to take to your child’s Kindergarten teacher!
We also partnered with our local Teaching Strategies Representative for the Creative Curriculum and received
over $2,000 in curriculum materials for the classrooms. KELC will be a center where she can show off in the
community as a place to see the curriculum materials being implemented to their fullest. We really making some
big strides to support your child’s quality educational experience, and we hope you are excited about our
improvements, too.
Also, Koh’ls has donated books and stuffed animals to promote family literacy experiences. Refer a family to
KELC and you can receive a book and stuffed animal to read with your child at home! ☺

Intergenerational News:
Cooking club on Monday afternoons has
been a real hit. We have a small group of 7
residents and children that have been getting
together to cook/bake and then visit the herb
garden to see if there are any vegetables
ready to be picked.

Giraffe Whistles:
The Giraffes had a really great time at the Cleveland Zoo. The
weather was perfect and the children were all awesome. We
could not have asked for a better group of children. One of
our favorite exhibits of course was the giraffes! We were
lucky enough to be there as one of the zoo keepers was doing a
presentation, so we learned a lot of important information. We
would like to thank our two parent volunteers, Kirk and Carla,
for all their help.
We also had a great time as we participated in Kendal’s annual
Fun Fitness Week. Not only did we participate in the
activities, but also we discussed the importance of staying
active. I’m sure if you ask your children they can give you a
complete list on why we need to exercise.
Please take a moment to look at our garden with your
child. They are working very hard on weeding and
watering and are very proud of everything we have
growing.
Have a great Summer!
Karen and Julie
Summer is flying by as we participate in many fun activities.
We enjoyed bowling, bean bag tosses, basketball and the
community walk with our grandfriends during Fun Fitness
Week last month. We also managed to fit in an awesome trip
to the Zoo. Coming up this month we will be exploring many
different science experiments to coincide with our trip to the
Cleveland Science Center on the 23rd
.
We will also do a study on water: oceans, beaches, etc, so we
will be planning some fun get wet plays for our hot summer
days.
This month we would like to welcome some new friends to
our classroom; Mason, Corwin and Amir. They along with
our old friends have been thoroughly enjoying the new,
expanded look in our classroom. They have been especially
enjoying the bigger block and dramatic play areas.
