Intergenerational News:
During the summer we have been meeting
informally with our resident friends Friday
afternoons in the garden. The children have
enjoyed being outside when the weather has
allowed with the residents.
Our application to receive
certification from Nature
Explore to certify our play
yard as an outdoor
classroom has been sent and
we are waiting to hear if our
application was approved.
We have added some fun
things so stop out and see
them when you pick up your
child.

Giraffe Whistles:
Everyone seems to be adjusting nicely to the merging of the two
classrooms into one. The extra room is providing for much nicer
and bigger interest areas. We have also added a Safe Place to our
classroom to be used when a child just feels the need to be alone.
One recommendation to make the Safe Place feel more secure is to
add family photos. So, if you can please send one in it will be
added.
Our trip to the Great Lakes Science Center was enjoyed by all. It
was a great learning experience since there were so many hands on
activities. One of the exhibits focused on outer space which is
always fascinating to preschoolers.
The month of August is always a little sad in the Preschool
classroom as it is the time to say Goodbye. To those going off to
Kindergarten I want to thank you for letting us be such an
important part of your child’s lives. We will miss you and we wish
you the best.

July certainly flew by! The children were so excited
to do many different science experiments. I think we
might have a few future scientists on our hand! ☺ The
Great Lakes Science Center visit was a big hit! The
children loved exploring all the exhibits. They even loved
going to look at the boats on the lake and enjoying cookies
with the seagulls.
In August we are continuing our study on the
ocean. The children have asked to learn about more sea
animals so we are extending our study. They have learned
all about sharks, whales, and dolphins so now we are going
to explore jellyfish, starfish, and seahorses.
Have a great month!
