2. Bird Tweets:
February is already here! Boy time is flying! January was so
much fun. A big Thank You to all that brought in milk jugs for our
igloo. The children really love it. Picnics are one of the favorite
things to do in the igloo. The igloo was to go along with talking about
the Artic and the animals that live there. The children loved talking
about penguins and polar bears. They even tried walking like
penguins and carrying their penguin egg between their feet like the
daddy penguin does. It was so funny to watch. Swimming started
back up this month. The Birds were so excited to start! Disney was a
big hit with Movie Day and Show and Tell. We also welcomed two
new friends to our room, Evelyn and Josh. We are so excited to have
them be a part of our class!
During February we will be talking about Chinese New Year,
Valentine’s Day, and we are going to have a Summer in Winter Week.
We will try some Chinese food as well as make a snake. It is the Year
of the Snake. We will be having the children exchange Valentines
with their friends. More details will come as we get closer to the
holiday.
Have a great month!

Giraffe Whistles:
February is here, the magical month of LOVE.
January unfortunately gave us all a case of cabin fever as we found
ourselves stuck inside due to the extreme cold. We were so thankful
that we are back to swimming as it is a great way to get out some of
our excess energy. We had two moms join us in the pool which was
super! In the classroom we found ourselves busy learning about the
polar regions. The children really enjoyed getting to play in the
sensory table as they learned about the climate and animals that live
there. They also enjoyed the many cool-related crafts.
Our ELI trip to the Natural History Museum was a great learning
experience as we learned all about what is inside our bodies. The
children thought it was really cool to get to stuff organs back inside
of Stuffee. They also enjoyed all the hands-on activities found in the
Discovery Center. This month we will not be going away on an ELI
trip as they are sending someone here to tell stories.
During the next couple of months we will really be working on
preparing for Kindergarten. Those preparing to go off are getting so
excited. I have had to explain several times that they do not get to go
until next fall since many think you get to go as soon as you turn five!
Stay warm. Karen and Julie
