Writing (V): Letter puzzles to
enhance awareness of letters
Discovery (M): Monarch caterpillars & chrysalis
to watch/observe. Magnifying glasses & native
bird books to identify birds we may have seen.
Library (K): Books about nature and birds. CD player
with CD on bird sounds and bird identification book.
Large Muscle/Outside (M/V): Going on walks to search
for birds and add our sightings to our bird chart.
Art (E): sort out blue crayons
and peel crayons. bird
feathers and colored foam out
to make masks and headbands
Table Toys (K): Q-bitz, bird nest, eggs, and
tweezers, alphabet matching eggs games to
increase fine motor skills/literacy.
Technology (M): Sunflower Letter smartboard game
and watch the bird nest making video on YouTube on
the SMART board.
Classroom rules / routines (V/M):
Listen to your teachers. Remind children of daily
commitment.
Sensory table (E): Building
nests with materials collected.

connectors to build with and explore, Circus tent
Music (R/L): Bird songs playing for children to dance
and move to along with bird songs played on the
smart board.

items, bird watching guides, and binoculars for children
to reenact bird watching.
