Interview?
Live-Action (shooting video with a
personality)
Can be simple, quick, and cheap. Helps an
audience form a human connection to the
brand.video must follow some rules:
1.Make the beginning powerful: Grab audience’s attention and build
empathy by showing main points first.
2.Keep your video quick and straightforward.
3.Make sure you carefully craft your message for a particular audience.
4.Create a compelling story that supports your business idea and keep
it dynamic.

The entire concept of my video is too make the older generation feel
more involved in the environment by getting more active and out
there as well as getting their families to feel more involved and
socialize.

Colour schemes
Becoming old can bring about a sense of loneliness and fear so decorating with the elderly in mind
needs to address warmth, security and harmony. Variety in the colours in the immediate
environment can boost interest in the world and keep cognitive function alive. Older people can be
drawn to soft pastels but they may not have the vitality of hue needed to stimulate the mind and
mood. Eyesight problems can also impair how the colour is seen and what is seen.
5. Idea Evaluation
Which of your ideas do you want to develop further? Explain why you think that is
the right idea to take forward.
I will be developing the wildlife trust idea forward and I will be taking on the task of
filming the older generation. I have decided to do the older generation even though
this is majority of the wildlife trust audience because as I am working in a group
collectively we have each decided to take on a different age demographic to place all
the videos in a series that run for a wide audience, and I have chosen the older
generation.
6. Questions to ask for interview
I didn't’ actually do a survey but if I
were going to these are some top
questions that I could ask my
target audience.
7. Client info
• My client is going to be Yorkshire wildlife trust, I will be grouping with 6 people to make a
couple of videos helping with promoting wildlife to stop the decline of animals.

9. Thanks so much to everyone for coming down to meet me in the York Offices this morning. It was great to see such an
enthusiastic group, and I am really excited to see what you all create.
As I will be leaving at the end of this week, I will hand you all over to Clea Grady and Katie Mapp, both from the
communications and marketing team at YWT. I have CC’d them in this email so you have a point of contact for them both in
the future.
The first thing to establish is whether or not each of you is required to author your own film, or if the marking
can be done collectively as a group of films. I shall leave that with your team to liaise with your tutor Scott Langford, to
decide. As much as we would appreciated six films, I would personally recommend the creation of three or four films, due
to the balance of production time and our need for good production quality. The most important thing is the message and
the intelligibility of that message, both in sound and visuals.
We would love your team to have its own branding, a suggestion is ‘Visionaries’, or ‘Young Visionaries’. Have a
think about how you would like to be represented.
Here is a list of the six filming ideas we came up with, all based on supporting our Wilder Futures campaign;
1) Animal Encounter - Children
Some very young children will have an animal encounter with a cute animal. The children are interviewed about what
that experience was like and how important animals are. The animal handler would also be interviewed, explaining
the context of animal decline and how important our connection with nature is.
2) Wild Spaces - 60+
Either a single person / couple / friends, aged over 60 are interviewed about a wild space that is important to them
and why. Ideally filmed in the wild space, and lots of B-roll of both the wild space and them in the space enjoying it.
3) Wild Space - Family
A family who regularly visit a wild space (ideally one of our nature reserves – Askham Bog is a suggestion), are
interviewed about that wild space and why it is important to them. Ideally filmed in the wild space, and lots of B-roll
of both the wild space and them in the space enjoying it.

10. 4) Past & Present – Teenagers
An exploration with interviews into teenage opinions on declining wildlife. How has nature declined, how will it be in
the future? Very important to find suitable and creative B-Roll that compliments the interviews.
5) Vox-Pops – All ages
On the spot interviews with the general public about the issues surrounding the Wilder Futures campaign. How do
people respond to the facts about the decline, what nature means to them, how important is it to do something
about it? Very important to have great sound as the city is noisy and there is often little time with vox-pops. B-Roll is a
tricky one with this film. Perhaps graphics in-between?
6) The Process – You guys!
A short documentary capturing the whole process. Will need camera with a reasonably good built in mic or attached
mic, but not boom pole style. Lots of B-roll with sound captured, accompanied by interviews of a few members of the
team explaining the process, who you are, why your passion for nature has driven you to create this, and what you
hope to achieve with it.
If you as a team are only making three or four films, then please choose from the first five on the list. As you all go through
the creative process, inevitably some of the films will change and adapt to what is available to you, and what you feel is
important to communicate. This is fine, and encouraged, as long as the films still connect people’s personal stories /
responses with the themes of the Wilder Future. Wilder Yorkshire campaign. I will endeavor to pass on some more updated
info about the campaign to you all.
There was a strong interest in the films including some animated graphics / infographics. That is great. It would
be great if the graphics can have some consistency across all videos, though I really understand if they need to be amplified
or toned down depending on each target audience (kids and over 60’s will have different viewing styles).
A big problem for making content this time of year is light and the weather. I understand and respect that
sometimes there is little you can do, but how possible is it to be responsive to the good weather? For example, is it possible
to be ready to strike if a sunny day happens? This will only work for some of the content as other things need to be planned
in advance. If you find that the weather forces some interviews indoors, then follow whatever will work best as long as
there is good B-Roll.
As for the animal encounter, I will enquire into what we can provide for you.
The email was a great way to establish the project and what the client wanted, however they are asking for a lot so I
will only be tackling one of the ideas.
12. Developed Idea
These are some specific examples
of shots I would maybe like to
achieve for my video.
13. Developed Idea
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd4FKZ1Zirw
This is a video for a wildlife trust and I am just using this as an example of a direction which I can go in with my film. It is a
video to get volunteers and help save wildlife and it does this by showing the community of people that are involved
which is biased of course but to get to new people and their age demographics then I am going to have to have to make
mine unique and different.
14. Developed Idea
These shots are ideas which could
appear in my video. I really like the idea
of B-roll footage and think that getting
shots of wildlife and nature is a
fantastic idea. I also think including an
interview and some infographics would
be a great idea, plus it will bring out
some different views and aspects to
the project.
15. Developed Idea
These darker colours are
ones that you will more
likely see in the video but
older generations tend to
“prefer lighter colours”
due to research I did so
they would more or else
translate like this.
16. Developed Idea
Font styles and types:
Wildlife Visionaries
Wildlife Visionaries
Wildlife Visionaries
Wildlife Visionaries
For the film we are
planning on filming at a
nature reserve location
luckily there is a nature
reserve right by college
which we are hoping to
visit and take shots. This is
really relatable to our
project.
I chose these fonts because it is what I felt to be matching
with the style and especially the logo I am usually not
bothered about text but it is super important for instance
in a project so I looked on DaFont and it didn't have any
styles relatable to wildlife, instead I used existing fonts
found on Photoshop.
17. Developed Idea
This is just a mock up of the logo idea but think that it definitely should
change because I think it could look much better. The idea that I have
would be simple allowing the background to appeal more.
These are mock up drawings of a logo for
our project team allowing ourselves to
have a branding.
This is the final design for what the
logo shall look like.
18. Assessment of final ideas
Suitability for audience:. Do you think your audience will engage with your ideas?
The audience will definitely engage in the video that I plan on making, to do this I will make it seem
important and really out going to attract the older generation that I plan on having them watch.
Many older people do not use specific forms of social media however so I imagine that they will not
be able to find it as simple as possible.
Suitability for client: Does your idea fulfil the brief your client gave you?
The brief that was given to me by yorkshire wildlife trust is being met and I plan to create an exact
representation of what is being asked for by the client.
Timescales: Is your project practical and manageable in the time you have?
With what my client is asking for it is way too much however I am going to stick with making one
video and that will be enough as I believe that I can make this video in the time that I have.
19. Questions for interview
1. Do you financially support any conservation charities?
2. Do you use Yorkshire wildlife facilities and amenities?
3. Have you regularly accessed the countryside throughout your life?
4. Have you noticed any changes?
5. If I put you in charge of Yorkshire wildlife trust for a day what would you do?
6. Should government play more of a role in conservation?
7. What are your hopes for the future of British wildlife?
