• From my experience over the year in doing this course I have found that the research and planning tasks have
always been the hardest for me to do due to the amount of detail that is required to be included in these tasks.
Despite this I believe my research for my FMP is better then all my past projects as having done this so many times
already I know know what I need to do and how I need to do it. The first task of our research was to analyse existing
products which is difficult as you are critically analysing somebody else's work. This is also very time consuming as
you have to find, watch and re watch this other persons work in order to get a sense of its strengths and
weaknesses. I eventually came across a YouTube channel that was dedicated to producing short horror films called
Crypt TV. After watching a few of there films I eventually came across one called Kinderfanger which I could instantly
draw comparisons to from the ideas I had for my film. Once I had done this I was also able to talk about its audience
appeal and its visual strengths and weaknesses and then apply this to other existing products that I could analyse.
• Looking back at this I can see why we are required to do this as I realise it gave me a good idea of things that give a
film a good audience and visual appeal, this will allow me to keep this in mind when I am producing my short film in
order to also create something that has a good audience/ visual appeal which will hopefully mean my film is a
success.
• Doing the survey was actually very helpful as it gave me a lot of good information on a wide variety of peoples
thoughts and opinions on horror films. Previously I had only had my classmates answer my surveys as I didn’t think
about sharing it our on social media in order to get more people to answer it. This time I did and I decided to have
my Mum share it on her Facebook simply to give me some answers from a different demographic of people, mainly
middle aged women. A few of my Mums friends that saw the post weren't sure about answering it as they didn’t like
horror films however I encouraged it as I still wanted a wide variety of reasons. Predictably there were a few people
that didn't’t take the survey seriously and gave silly or basic answers without much detail. Despite this the vast
majority gave me a very helpful answers and I was able to analyse this information and apply it during the
production of my film. This was all designed to increase my films audience appeal to people as by catering to
peoples specific opinions it would likely attract them into watching it as it incorporates what they think is good
about horror films.

4. Research
• One thing I did struggle with during this task is time management. We were supposed to analyse the results for each
question which I did for the first few slides but I then realised that with the amount of detail that I needed to
include that it would take me too long to do it for each slide. I then decided to summarise all of my results at the
end of the survey segment in one slide this way I could save a lot of time. The only drawback of doing this however
was that it was difficult to include a lot of detail from each question but I believe by making a brief summary it
allowed me to quickly look back at the slide if I needed any audience information quickly during production.
• Using YouGov Profiler I was able to give a brief summary of the audience demographics and psychographics for both
the UK and the US for two horror films Those films were insidious and The Conjuring. The reason I picked those films
specifically as they are more paranormal based like my film rather then slasher horror so I thought that they would
be the type of person that would be likely to watch my film. The reason I did both the US and the UK is because they
are two very intertwined countries with similar people so I wanted to see how the results differed. This research
was handy as it gave me an idea of the type of people that were likely to want to watch my horror films.
• The peer interviews gave me an idea of what some of my closer college friends opinions were on certain aspects of
horror films. I asked questions about what they believed the most effective way of scaring was as well as there
opinions on if they are becoming clichéd or not. I got some good and honest answers from the two people that
answered it despite there being a few grammatical errors. The reason I found this useful is because in this interview
I asked 3 more generalised questions as I knew these people would be good at answering them due to there
knowledge of horror films. Once I had these results I once again had to summarise them by making an observation,
stating what this says about my audience and How will my product appeal to this audience. The only other thing I
needed to do after this was make sure my bibliography was ok with more then 7 references.

5. Research
In terms of the weaknesses of my research. I believe that I could have done a slightly better job when analysing existing
products when it got to looking at film posters. The reason I wasn’t able to fit in much detail with this is because by the
point I got to doing this part of the research I was running out of time and I needed to finish up. Another thing was that I
have found that I am naturally better at comparing existing video products then I am to standard images simply because I
am better at video production then I am print in my opinion. I think if I had been able to improve my comparison to
existing products in general then I would have wider variety of different films compared rather then just horror shorts. I
think if I had done that it would have given me a wider idea of the strengths and weaknesses if certain films in general
and I would have been able to focus on other aspects that are not limited to the specific genre such as lighting. The
reason I say this is because my film in my opinion was under lit in some places. The reason for this is due to the fact that
probably left it too late to borrow college equipment as there were no more camera lights left to borrow. I think if I had
kept this in mind then I would have been more organised about the equipment and I would have had a camera light
which would mean that the video wasn’t too dark in some areas.
Despite talking about clichéd a lot in my research my final product turned out to be cliché's anyway. I do think it is pretty
much impossible to make a horror film without having some form of cliché however I think If I’d of asked a question in
the survey that asked the audience’s opinions on cliché’s such as What annoys you the most and should I avoid it then
my film would probably be quite different. Weather it would have increased my audience appeal or not it is difficult to
say as on one hand if I removed some horror film clichés then that might mean I would have to change a lot of the other
elements such as the plot as otherwise I may not be able to tell the story as effectively. This could either increase my
audience appeal or decrease it as the final product would certainly be very different to its original version.

6. Planning
• To start of I think my story development work was really strong as by the point I already had a rough idea of how I
wanted the story of my film to pan out so that when I got to this document all I needed to do was put my ideas
down on paper and develop them slightly. I think answering the questions on this product did do a lot to help my
final product as it forced me to come up with a clear ending to my film. The questions it then asked made me
think about why I had chosen this specific turn of events for the character as well as what reaction did I want to
elicit in the audience. Whilst I was thinking about this I realised I wanted to end on a cliff hanger as well as leaving
the audience unsure as to whether they should feel sorry for the main character or not as on one hand he was
hallucinating and he accidently killed his friend and then police just happen to show up or on the other hand
despite his hallucination being responsible he is still guilty of murder. I wanted the audience to be asking those
questions as leaving them unanswered creates a sense of mystery and makes the audience want more.
• I also think my storyboard was good as it allowed to me to draw out how I see the different shots of my film
looking like. This I can work from when writing my script and shot list. I could even still use it whilst I am doing the
actual filming as it would allow me to recreate the drawings of the shots in real life. However when I was actually
filming it turned out that my shots actually differed to the storyboard due to the location I was filming in and how
certain circumstances played out.
• One major weakness I had with my planning were things like my contingency document and my health and safety
planning. I have struggled to do these documents before in the past as I usually struggle to think of issues other
then the obvious. However now that I think about it that is likely the point of the task in the first place. As you can
never predict when something will go wrong and what that will be so perhaps it is good to try and plan for these
things on the off chance that they will happen. For the health and safety table I only managed to come up with
reasons initially. One potential way around this would be to create a survey and ask people what there general
health and safety concerns were and see if I get any results that differ from what I have written down already. I
managed to do a little bit better with my contingency planning as I came up with 13 ideas for potential issues
however after that I was struggling to think of any more.

7. Planning
• I think even if my contingency planning had been better it won’t have had much effect on my final product. The
reason I say this is because the situation were I needed to use my contingency documents never arose therefore it
never effected my production. However it it had then it would be different. I said previously that it is difficult to
predict things that might go wrong other then the obvious. Therefore if something did arise that wasn’t expected I
wouldn’t have been able to use my contingency documents to help me with the issue as I wouldn’t have thought
of a solution. This could negatively impact my production as I may be faced with a major issue and no solution.
This could also have a positive impact however. The reason I say this is because I could perhaps be confronted
with an issue that I didn’t plan for but then I could potentially come up with a solution on the spot. I could
therefore learn from this experience for next time I am doing a project. For example I could go back and add this
issue to my contingency document after it has happened to demonstrate the usefulness of this document and
that I will be able to look back at it and see the solution that I used previously if the issue were to arise again.

8. Time Management
• I think I was naturally more motivated to manage my time better on this project simply because it was my FMP
project and I wanted it to be as good as it could be so I was willing to try as hard as I could in class in order for me to
get as much done as I possibly could. This doesn’t mean I didn’t struggle for time in some parts though. I previously
stated this whilst I was evaluating my research document. I struggled with this because of how much detail we had
to include and because of how difficult I find it to actually compare and analyse existing products. One area were I
also struggled for time management was during my actual post production. The reason for this was because I would
set myself a goal to have certain parts of my film edited after a certain amount of time however sometimes I wasn’t
able to complete these goals simply because I would end up with a technical issue and I would have to spend ages
figuring out how to fix it which when then mean I wouldn’t meet my goal in time. This meant that my production
work took a week longer then I wanted it to which meant I had less time to do evaluation. I think If I did have more
time I would have had time to sort out my technical issues and then even more time to do improvements on my film
such as making sure the audio doesn’t glitch out in some places which it does in my final product but I unfortunately
I didn’t have time to fix it.
• I think If I did have more time to do my work I would have been able to perhaps reshoot some scenes such as the
scene were the monster appears and attacks the character. The issue I have with these scenes as we forgot to record
some scenes of dialogue which would have made the plot and the situation they were in a bit clearer. I also wanted
to reshoot these scenes as the lighting in the original recordings was too dark and I couldn’t correct them digitally so
I had to discard the. I think the reason for this was due to the exposure settings on the camera as well as not having
enough ambient set lighting. Another thing I would have potentially done differently is to re edit the sequence
leading up to the monster attacking to give it more of a build up as well as to show the characters reactions more. I
would have also redone the stop motion animation of the drawing moving for it to show more images of the two
creatures moving around. I would also make a better effort with the drawing to make them appear more realistic
then it did before.

The reason why I am comparing my film to this existing product is because they both have very similar but at the same time two very
different scenes. The two scenes I am talking about are the scenes about halfway through both scenes that build up tension and are
designed to create fear in both the audience and the characters. In the film Troubled Youth this is done very subtly and uses the classic
low shot technique of the monsters feet walking slowly across the floor, getting closer to were the characters are hiding. This technique
works for this type of film as the threat is more a physical creature rather then paranormal. Whilst in my film yes there is a similar type of
monster it is a more paranormal entity as it comes from my characters nightmares and the build up is more representative of the genre as
in my film more and more paranormal things start to happen.
Another similarity in these two films is the theme of insanity. The reason I say this is because in my film my character is slowly loosing his
sanity as his nightmares seem to become real, we then learn that this is seemingly a hallucination but we are not sure and the audience Is
left to fill in the blanks. This is similar to troubled youth were the monster is revealed to be controlled by one of the girls that is hiding
from it with her friends. We believe her to be the victim but then she becomes the culprit just like in my film were my character is the
victim of these hallucination but he becomes the culprit when he kills his friend believing him to be the monster. Another similarity is that
the girl kills her friends just like my character kills his friend. Albeit in this film the girl kills her friends indirectly as she orders the monster
to do it compared with my film where my character physically uses a knife.

10. Technical Qualities: Sound
This screenshot shows some of the sound effects that I used in
my film such as, line noise FX, phone ringing and a burglar
alarm sound effect.
This screenshot is an example of some of the different music tracks that I used
throughout my video and how I used different audio fade effects and
transitions in order to make sure that my music blends in with the rest of the
video and feels natural.
In terms of the sound effects. It took me at least a week for me
source all the sound that I wanted. The reason for this is because I
was very picky about which sounds I wanted and what was good
enough. Some sounds were easy to find such as the jump scare
stings and the burglar alarm sound effect. Some were a lot more
difficult to find as I wanted it to be as perfect as I could make it in
my opinion and if I was just using some random sound effect that I
wasn’t really bothered about then I didn’t feel like it was good
enough. One thing I have previously talked about it me wanting to
use 5 or 6 different music tracks in my film to give it a sense of
variety and professionalism. Unfortunately it would have taken me
too long to compose 5 or 6 original music tracks in a software like
garage band of which I had not much previous experience with.
Also by this point I had serious time pressure as I was running out of
time to finish production before I had to begin working on my
evaluation. This lead to me using several royalty/ copyright free
Kevin McLeod tracks for my film.
Admittedly if I had the time to do this I would improve upon
my work by composing my own music as this would mean
that all of my project is original and I wouldn’t have to worry
about finding something that is royalty free. Also if I was
composing it I would compose it to perfectly fit the video of
my film but if I am using music that someone else has
composed then it may not go as well with my video. Another
viewpoint on this though is that because I used a royalty free
piece that was composed professionally it gave my film more
of a cinematic and professional feel then I would have been
able to create had I composed the music.
One final thing that I would improve upon the sound if I could would be
to try and sort out the issue that is causing my audio to be choppy in
certain places with a lot of loud audio effects in. Unfortunately despite
deleting, changing and re adding the sound effects as well as re
rendering/ re exporting it I couldn’t seem to fix the issue. If I had more
time though I may have been able to look harder and to try more things
that could perhaps work. This was something that was picked up in my
peer feedback and as a result I will cover it when I do my peer feedback
summary.

Final Product Existing Product: Kinderfanger
The reason I am comparing my film with the existing product kinderfanger is because of the inspiration that I got from this film for mine.
This film is were I got the idea for some sort of paranormal entity from I then decided to combine this with the idea of some sort of
monster like the one from the short film Troubled Youth. This how the entity from my film came to be. The reason why I describe it as an
entity in this evaluation segment and not just the monster is because I am referring to everything that happens in the film that is
paranormal and implied to being caused be a singular entity such as my character seeing the deformed girl screaming at him in the TV, the
lights flickering off in the room and the TV flickering, the monster, the banging from the wardrobe and of course the fact that he is having
these “hallucinations” in the first place.
In the film Kinderfanger we some some sort of entity that takes the form of a creature (like in my film) lure the children of a settlement
through a cave into what appears to be a parallel universe were it casts some sort of spell on them that turns them into savages who then
go on and brutally murder the adults that are trying to find them. This differs from my film obviously but it is were I got some inspiration
from.
This idea of this film also links to the more personal reasons I had for creating this film. The reason I say this is because it is obvious that
the malicious entity in the film Kinderfanger was inspired by the pied piper an old children's tale designed to scare kids. The tale tells that
the Pied Piper made the towns children disappear never to be seen again by enchanting them to walk into the river Weser and drown as
revenge for the town mayor not paying him after he used his “magical” pipe to play music which made the town infestation of rats carrying
the bubonic plague walk into the river Weser and drown.

12. Technical Qualities
This tale which was designed to scare has been known to induce nightmares in children. This theme of nightmares was something I
decided to elaborate on as It links to my reasons for making this Film. When I was a young child about 5, the wardrobe that was seen in my
film was in my bedroom and after seeing Monsters Inc., one night I had a nightmare that there was a monster inside it. This is ridiculous
and laughable to me now but as a five year old child at the time, something like that seemed real. This is one of the reasons why the entity
that I released from the wardrobe in the film takes the shape of a monster. This is also the reason why my film is called Childhood
Nightmare despite my character obviously not being a child it still links to the theme of nightmares which was inspired by the dream I had
when I was a kid.

The reason for my comparing these two products is purely aesthetic. The similarity's are in the color grading in that they are both moody
and DE saturated. My reasons for this aesthetic choice for my film was because I had seen this film previously and upon the first viewing
of it this was something I immediately noticed and wanted to incorporate it somehow into my film as I think the color grading is very
important in setting the tone and mood of the film since it is likely the first visual element people will notice. One interesting visual
element to note in the film Don’t Look Away is that the DE saturated tone doesn’t start until the characters realizes that something is
wrong and the viewer may begin to think that the characters are in danger. By this I mean that when the film starts the color tone is a
normal warm color but once the girl looks out of the window and see’s the man in the garden it instantly fades to a cooler color pallet.
This was a brilliant idea from the editor of the film as it subconsciously makes the viewer realize that something is wrong without it being
blatantly obvious.
This was something I wanted to recreate in my film but in a different way. In my film I wanted the viewer to be able to tell the difference
between reality and the dream that my character is having. In order to do this I made the dream sequence bright, hazy and blurry in some
places and in the rest of the film were the character is awake I made the coloring a dull cool color. I wanted this to represent that the
character was potentially in more danger awake then he was in his dreams as his nightmares will later start to become real to him but to
everyone else it looks like he is hallucinating. This is of course not explicitly states in the film as I deliberately left it to the audience to fill
in the blanks.

14. Aesthetic/Technical Qualities
This screenshot shows how I achieved the color grading effect on my video. I added a fast color correction to my clip
changed the hue to a blue color then I used the saturation slider to DE saturate the image and give it a very
moody/dark appearance to the clip. I then adjusted the black and white levels so I could alter the brightness
accordingly. However I thought I was going to have to do this specifically for each clip. I then learned that I could use
an adjustment layer and put that above the rest of the clips then apply the same color correction technique and it
would apply that over the rest of the clips. This I found to be a much quicker and more effective way of doing my
color correction the the previous way I was doing it as it insured that it was the same for each clip and that there
were no small differences as a result of having to do it individually.
Due to the fact that some of my scenes are lit differently because of having to film them in different locations at
different times of the day it was difficult to get the color grading to be the same for certain parts of my film. To make
sure it still looked seamless I decided to try and make it look like this was deliberate by coloring some other scenes
lighter to try and make them match with those that were lit differently. I then used the fact that coloring is different
to represent that the characters aren’t in any immediate danger yet, compared with the other parts of my film that
are colored in the dark blue hues were it is implied they are in danger. I thought this would be good to to create a
“calm before the storm” type of atmosphere. This is also the reason why I chose a calm but foreboding piano
soundtrack to accompany these scenes.

The reason I have chosen to compare my films Aesthetic qualities with the ones of the existing product Black Sugar is because they
mostly differ however they both use the plot device of hallucination. For example in my film the character is being haunted by his
nightmares after physically releasing them from there imaginary prison he begins to hallucinate there existence and in an attempt to
“defend” himself he kills his friend. However in my film it isn’t explicitly stated that this is a hallucination just implied and the rest is left
to the audience to fill in with there minds. This differs to the film Black Sugar in which the experience that the main characters are having
is clearly a drug induced hallucination however it also shown that what is happening to them is more then just a hallucination as the
things that are happening to them in this hallucination are also happening to there bodies in real life.
Another aesthetic difference between the two films is that in the action sequences and black sugar they use fast cutting technique
between different camera angles to visually illustrate the fact that a lot of different things are happening at once and that the main
characters are under threat from some sort of creature. In my film this would have been difficult nearly impossible to do due to the fact
that I was very limited with time as well as man power and resources. By this I mean that there was only me and Luke filming so we had
to act as well as operate the camera of which we only had one of. This would have made it extremely difficult and impractical to film the
same shot from different angles and maintain continuity. Whilst I believe the scene were the monster attacks my character would have
been better with more resources and better production values I think I had a pretty good workaround in that I would use a point of view
first person style camera following me as I was being chase by the monster, this would then allow me to apply some visual distortion
effects to show the viewer how the monster sees. I believe this actually turned out really well and that it was a clever work around for
the issue.

16. Audience Appeal
Judging by the results of my peer feedback compared to the results from my audience research survey, I have
successfully made my product appeal to my target audience. The reason I say this is because to begin with my
general target audience was anyone that liked horror films regardless of age range. The reason for this is because
when I did my research survey I found out that a surprisingly a lot of middle aged people like horror films as well
as teenagers. Looking back at my audience research survey I asked the question “What is your favorite horror film
and why”? And I got some really good responses such as “

These responses were really good as it gave me information on what makes
a good horror film in other peoples opinions.
I can now tell that my film has mostly the same audience appeal then the other ones do from my peer feedback

the decision to create a cool and unnatural atmosphere through use of lighting and sound effects as well as its
different shot types and horror tropes that I have used.

• What did you like about the product?
• I really like the jump scares, the colors you used, the flashes, the creature. It all made it
a decent quality product. In addition, the Woman's parts really gave it that sense of the
character needing help. Like they needed a calm and reassuring approach to them, i
liked how this also shown visually by having you in a chair directly opposite us. This is
re-enforced at the end. I also really liked the ending, having the police arrive just at that
moment, it was perfect. I also felt there was a conflict within me when watching, as you
back the main character, thinking he's the victim. He was, but when the monster is
revealed i was shocked. It was an unexpected twist, you managed to do this very well. I
also liked your quick visual foreshadow towards the beginning. One of my favourite
parts was when it gets really tense and Luke suddenly appears, this was a also in a
sense a sort of foreshadow. As it builds up, more and more, building up to Luke
appearing. It is clear you put a lot of time into it, it really does show.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• Honestly i don't know. With how well it has been done, i cant see any points that could be improved.

• There are a lot of things that i like about your product such as your sound effects, your sound effects you
used where really effective, creepy and spooky. i especially liked your tv scene with the creepy girl on the

where really good and effective. also the colure grading was really fitting.

• there are a couple of things that you could change for example you could try and write your own score
because you cant keep using music from the internet also you would need to credit the composer and also
let the composer know you are using that song so it would be better to make your own music. also i know i
said that the effects are good but i think that you have overloaded your film with effects.

• What I like
• Firstly, I liked the jump scares that the film has. i believe that it builds up to them well, as the music gets
louder and louder to revile the jump. also, i like the lighting in the film. the lack of brightness applied in
your film creates this tense environment in the scenes. if there were bright colors, then it would have
distracted the scene and wouldn't have shown negativity. yours managed to show negativity through the
lack of light. lastly, the special effects. i liked the monster portrayed in the film, as it looks like something
from a nightmare which gives this scary atmosphere that somebody doesn't want to be in.

• The only improvement id Say would be involved with the audio. Some shots in the same scene had cuts in
their audio and background noises which appeared when a shot changed. maybe next time fade in/out
the background audio to have a better transition for the next scene.

21. • What do you like about the film?
• I like the font of the title I think it really fits with the film and its theme. The opening rapid scene
changes are very effective and the beginning of the film. I also love the lighting effects at the start
of the film! (When he is dreaming) they give a very clear, spooky aura about them so you know they
are not natural. There is a consistent feel to each scene and the blue lighting through the whole
film gives a cold, ominous atmosphere. The sound effects are great throughout the film. The story is
a really good idea and the choice of the music at the end is very effective and sad.

• How could it be improved?
• At the beginning when Josh is dreaming there are clips foreshadowing what will happen in the rest
of the film. Included is a clip showing Luke dead which I think it would be better cut down or left
out completely because I think it’s more of a spoiler then it is foreshadowing. When Josh is in bed
the clip would have been better broken up instead of one long clip. Then in the next clip he is
suddenly in the garage. I think there needs to be a clear reason why he went there. Because he saw
it in his dreams? Or because he heard the banging coming from it? It’s not clear to me. In the
garage there is an inconsistency in which hand Josh uses to open the door with, the scene shows
him approaching the cupboard door handle with his left hand but then the angle changes and he
pulls away with his right hand, then goes back to the left again. When Luke appears in the entrance
of the garage the lighting could have been less dark and blue as he is meant to be the good friend
who has snapped Josh out of the trance. When they are talking on the couch it isn’t clear at first
they are opposite each other. The use of negative space in the image or different camera angle
showing them both would make this clearer.

22. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• I agree with the feedback for some of the things that could be improved such as the audio. The reason I say this is
because Andreas Mina who did my 3rd peer feedback slide said that in some scenes the sound effects briefly stutter
in some areas. Looking back at my work I can see he is correct and in some areas the audio does indeed stutter.
This is not an issue with my sound effects however as when I played back the film in premier before exporting it
there were no issues with the sound. This then leads me to believe it is to do with a processing error in premier. I
tried to fix this by deleting and re adding the sounds and then re exporting it but that didn’t work. I am not sure
why premier is having this issue as it is really irritating me when I watch It back now, unfortunately I have run out of
time to correct the issue and I was struggling to find a solution that works.
• Another point I agree with is that at some point in a future project I should have a go at composing my own music
as It would perhaps be better then using royalty free music found online. This point was made by Luke Simpson
who did my 2nd peer feedback slide. He also made a good point were he said that I relied too heavily on visual
effects on my film which I do agree with. I think on my next film project I will try to have as minimal visual effects as
a possibly can and try to rely on the natural environment. Finally I was picked up on my continuity slightly by Clara
Johnson who filled in my 4th feedback slide. She said “there is an inconsistency in which hand Josh uses to open the
door with, the scene shows him approaching the cupboard door handle with his left hand but then the angle
changes and he pulls away with his right hand, then goes back to the left again.“
• This is something i didn‘t notice untill it was pointed out to me but know i know about it I realise that i need to
keep continuity in minds when i am filming scenes like this from different angles. The reason why i think i struggled
to do this in the first place was due to the fact that there was only me to film this scene at the time meaning I was
acting and operating the camera i think next time it might be wise to plan better and make sure i have more people
available to help me shoot scenes so i can just focus on my job (in this case acting) in order to keep continuity.

• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• The only thing that I necessarily disagree with in my peer feedback is that in the dream sequence the flash shot
that shows Luke to be dead is more of a spoiler then foreshadowing. The reason I say this is because I wanted the
audience to see this shot and immediately start asking questions in their heads such as “what does this mean”?
“who is this”? And “how does this happen”? This is then a method for keeping the audience interested throughout
the film and wanting the answers to these questions which therefore keeps them hooked on the film. However
whilst I disagree with this point I do see the other side of the argument. Once you see this shot it isn’t a surprise at
the end of the film once you see Luke be killed and therefore there isn’t much of a plot twist. Whilst I think I should
have placed more emphasis on this plot twist which may have included removing the shot in the dream sequence I
also wanted to focus more on the cliff-hanger ending which is that the police turn up immediately after his friend
has died which immediately makes it look like my character has deliberately murdered him.

• When I think about changes I would make to my product now that I have my peer feedback I know know
for certain that I would try harder to find a solution to my audio issue in some shots were it get choppy.
The reason I say this because every time I watch it back it stands out like a sore thumb and really annoys
me that I can’t figure out a way to fix it. Another major change I would like to make to my film is to some
of the shots. The only issue with this is that it would require a lot of reshoots and then even longer to edit.
The reason I say this is because it has been stated to me that I need to have a clearer explanation of why
the main character has gone to the garage. The actual reason is because he can hear a banging coming
from it which is supposed to be representative of his nightmares banging on the inside of the wardrobe
trying to escape. I believe I should have made that clearer somehow. I think it might have helped adding in
a few extra shots showing the character walking to the garage fearfully, as well as adding in some kind of
visual effect on the wardrobe to show that his nightmares were being released from it.
• Another change that was suggested to me that I would defiantly make is the use of lighting. The reason I
say this is because I think once Luke enters the scene in the garage which snaps Josh out of his trance the
lighting should change to a warmer color to show the fact that Luke is a good character and that he is a
friend.
• One final change would be that I would compose my own music somehow for my film. This would
unfortunately take time and isn’t something I could do quickly. In order to do this I would have to plan
weeks in advance and compose my own music using a software like garage band. As I don’t have much
previous experience using software like this I would have to take time to learn the software as well as
experiment with different types of methods in garage band in order to create an original piece of music.
