The Multiculturalism Act ( 1988 )
Canada has always been recognized as a multicultural country with a diversity of ethnic groups.
According to the 2006 census (Statistics Canada, 2006), there was a total of 1,109,980 new
immigrants arriving Canada from various countries between 2001 and 2006. The Multiculturalism
Act (1988) is adopted to encourage ethnic groups to preserve their own languages and cultural
heritages while integrating into the Canadian culture (Minster of Justice, 1984). Despite that,
constant barriers remain in immigrants' experiences of acculturation. Newcomers who failed to
acculturate into the host country may experience social exclusion, which could result in a reduction
in their health statuses. Although recent immigrants are often healthier than the general Canadian
population, their health status tend to converge to the Canadian–born population with increased
length of residence; for instance, statistics revealed worsening immigrant health in chronic
conditions like diabetes and tuberculosis (Statistics Canada, 2002). This is referred as the "healthy
immigrant effect". Immigrants' initial healthy status is explained by self–selection reasons, and
screenings that are regulated by the Immigration Act (Statistics Canada, 2002). However, it is more
crucial to understand the reasons for their deterioration in health over time. In this paper, we will
explore a framework that explains the pathway between social exclusion, an important social
determinant of health, and the deterioration in the

Are Energy Drinks Safe?
Question/Topic #1: Are energy drinks safe? Answer: Energy drink manufacturers advertise energy
drinks as booting your energy levels, sleeplessness, and to help you become more aware. However,
the larger amounts of caffeine and other supplements are sometimes not properly reported. In a
study of over 3, 600 adults, the excessive amount of caffeine predisposed the participants to anxiety,
depression, substance abuse, and many more. Resources: 1. McGraw, M. M. (January 01, 2013).

technique? Answer: Correct anatomic tunnel positioning is a key part of ACL reconstruction. In one
of a few studies that have been tested, results showed that the variability or standard deviations were
on the high side with standard deviations of 3.2mm between the intra and inter observers. So even
though this technique is tactful, future observations need to be conducted to reduce this variability.

How Did Quicksilver Come
"You didn't see that coming? ("Avengers")" This is the line of Quicksilver, a character who has a
supernatural power to run incredibly quick, from the movie (–– removed HTML ––) . In the movie,
Quicksilver hits another character, Hawkeye, so fast that Hawkeye did not even see who was hitting
him, and then walks over him in a leisurely way. People know that they are watching a movie and
the movements of Quicksilver is shown in slow motion, so they are not that surprised at this scene.
However in Hawkeye's situation, he does not know where Quicksilver is and when he might run
into him. In (–– removed HTML ––) , Shirley Jackson also asks if readers 'did not see it coming'.
How, and why does the story's ending evokes shock and horror to the readers? To begin with, the
story's structure takes part in explaining its reason: peaceful start, dreadful ending. The story's start

done something so cruel, stoning him or her is acceptable. Owing to the psychological fact that
fictional nature of horror films (or stories) affords viewers a sense of control by placing
psychological distance between them and the violent acts they have witnessed, people can put up
with reasonable situations (McCauley). While it is clear that there are no purpose to stone Tessie

Gibbs Model Of Reflection 1988
INTRODUCTION
Reflection brings back past experiences to help an individual develop their knowledge. It is usually
linked to having a better understanding of what has occurred and why. Reflection gives an
individual the opportunity to reflect on how previous experiences might be improved, and get
feedback from an objective and a subjective point of view (Liobe et al 2016:7).
With the new system of Revalidation, the NMC (2015) states that reflection and reflective practice
are sued to improve personal and professional development by helping nurses to reflect on feedback
received from patients, colleagues and others. This is very important for nurses as it identifies areas
of improvement.
The model of reflection I chose to use in my essay is the Gibbs Model of reflection 1988. The
reason for this is because this model allows me to describe, analyse and evaluate clearly and
precisely my experiences. In addition to this, it also helps me to reflect and put into practice the
learning I gained at university. Most importantly, it gives me the opportunity to create an action
plan, which enables me to look at my practice and see what I would change and improve in the
future (Benbow W et al 2016)

The reason why I chose consent is because being inexperienced I have never known the importance
of gaining consent before giving out a treatment or medication. Gaining consent is the principle that
patients must give permission before receiving any type of medication, treatment test or
examination (NHS choices 2016). Consent is a fundamental issue in nursing. As a nurse it is very
important to make sure the patient is happy to receive a treatment or medication that will be
beneficial to them. It is essential to never assume that because we are part of a health care team, we
have the authority to do things without seeking the patient's authorisation (Royal College of Nursing

The Olympic Olympics At The 1988 Seoul Olympics Essay
The 100m final during the 1988 Seoul Olympics, went from being called the greatest race in history
to the dirtiest race in history over a time period of 24 hours. Ben Johnson Bronze medalist at the
1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, Gold Medal at the Rome World championships in 1987 and a
former record holder for the 100m sprints and now a permanent dent in the history of Canadian and
Olympic history after he tested positive for the anabolic steroid Stanozol, at the 1988 Seoul Olympic
games.
The event everyone had been waiting for at the Seoul Olympics was that of the 100 meter final
where spectators and fans would be able to who the fastest man alive was. The Rivalry between Carl
Lewis and Ben Johnson had been built up after many years of close competition most notably since
the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where Carl Lewis winning gold for America and Ben Johnson
winning bronze for Canada. When Ben Johnson won the 100 meter final at the world championship
in Rome he had beaten Carl Lewis five times before and gained a world record. This caused him to
become very popular with the media and in Canada with people seeing him as a new hope for
Canadian sports after their embarrassment at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 with Canada being the
first country to hold the Games and not win a single gold medal. After Rome Carl and Ben both set
their sights on The Zurich track and field meet on August the 17, which was only a month out from
the Seoul Olympics. Before this meet, however,

Happy Moment In 1988
The year 1988 was filled with many mixed emotions throughout the year. There were moments
when people were sad from losing their loved ones but also many happy emotions because of big
achievements that have been reached. Some of the sad moments that happened was train crashes,
airplane crashes, helicopter crashes, many famous people dying, and the terrible tropical storm that
happened in Rio De Janeiro. Some of the more happy moments from 1988 are when Barry Sander's
won the Heisman Trophy during his junior in college, and when the scientist found a fossil that
dated back 390 million years ago.
An airplane crashed in southwestern China, killing all 108 passengers on January 18th. The airplane
was reported to of crashed at 10:15 P.M. Monday night. The passenger plane was leaving from
Beijing, heading for Chongqing. The crash happened about five miles from the airport in Sichuan.
The plane was reported to be carrying 10 crew members and 98 passengers. Four of the people that
were in the crash were foreigners, three Japanese and someone from Britain. The three Japanese
passengers that died were identified as Isamu Tanaka and Masato Haga of the Toshiba Corporation,
and the third was Sumio Kudo of Mitsui & Company, a trading firm.
There was a 13 day standoff in Marion, Utah, between police and a polygamist clan. On January
28th, the standoff ended in gunfire that killed a state corrections officer and seriously wounded the
polygamist clan's leader Addam Swapp. The police found

Make Lemonade Theme Analysis
The theme for the book "Make Lemonade" is making sour into sweet which means to take
something bad and try to make it into something good. This theme is shown through the whole
book. LaVaughn and Jolly go through very difficult times. LaVaughn is helping Jolly through her
rough times in this book. Turning sweet into sour is a big theme in this book because it shows how
Jolly and LaVaughn have to make their lives better. Jolly doesn't have a very good education but she
tries to change that. Also, Jolly is only 17 and she has 2 kids to take care of. This theme could be
universal because it shows how even when our life is at the hardest point you can still turn it around.

Conservative Movement Thesis
Carter's thesis is: Although the Conservative Movement gained followers through careful
advertisement and presentation of candidates in the 20th century, their agenda was mainly aided by
racist social opinions, anti–welfare economic movements, and commercial displaying of candidates.
George Wallace (Democrat) led a social movement so angry and powerful that he forced Richard
Nixon (Republican) to learn the art of fully exploiting white voter's racial fears without running
openly racist campaigns or governing in a racist way. Since then, people with presidential
aspirations and the presidents themselves have evolved and refined these tricks into racially coded
political advertisements, slogans, and symbolically charged events. George Wallace came into
power by leading a social movement that was based on exploiting white voter's racial fears. At the
beginning, the Democrat's positions were openly racist. Wallace started exploiting white voter's
racial fears when he stated "Segregation now! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!"
Eventually, talk of race came to be "coded" into politics, like issues of "welfare reform." Most
candidates in today's world would not openly incite racism.
According to the author, Nixon's plan was to capitalize on what Wallace (Democrat) had started and

Descriptive Essay About A Swishy
It was my sophomore year. The weather was partially cloudy and felt just right. It was not too hot
nor too cold, and it's also football season. A season everyone at school gets hyped up for, even if our
football team wasn 't the best in the district. The marching band is getting ready to perform our field
show for maybe the second time. Of course, band members including me stay after school just to
hang out and prepare ourselves to perform. They invited me to 7 Eleven to buy snacks, I tagged
along because I was craving Cheetos at that time. Juan and Andre, which were both freshmen at that
time were the ones who invited me to the convenience store. Juan is short, funny and has always

The smoke felt like it clogged my throat, as I was asking for a cough drop or water and they just
laughed. They laughed because my eyes were watering and I was coughing like I had pneumonia.
After refusing to take another hit, they finally decided to go to 7 Eleven. Andre thought I didn 't
know how to cross the street stoned. If you were one of those cars passing by at that time you'll
probably think they were chasing me to kidnap me or something because we looked like crazy
lunatics.
We got our snacks and drinks from the store, as we came back I felt sluggish. The marching band
usually have a report time to go back to the band room to prepare ourselves to play at the football
game and also for our field show. Making sure my friends covered my stench with perfume actually
worked but there was still one problem, my eyes. My eyes were bloodshot red, I just told everyone I
had went home to take a nap which they were dumb enough to believe my story. The band started to
warm up and as I anticipated, there was no way I was able to play or function. Dozing off every
second, made it hard for me to follow the director 's instructions. Marching into the stadium and
playing a fanfare every chance we had, time went by faster. Gaining back my conscience, I then
realized we had 5 minutes to warm up for the field show. It was officially half time, we all got in our

Alabama Child Support Case Study
The non–custodial parent (NCP), Mr. Pugh's testimony revealed that the bank account is in his
name, but the money in the account belongs to his wife. The dispute is regarding the money that was
frozen in the account. The money was from his wife's 401k retirement account. The NCP verified
that the account is a joint account, the money belongs to his wife, and he would not touch her
money. Mobile County DHR representative's testimony revealed that on June 26, 2003, Georgia
Child Support sent a request to Alabama Child Support to establish an order of support against the

and determined that $6,353.26 will be refunded to joint account owner, Charlene Pugh. If the bank
has already submitted the funds, a check will be mailed to Mrs. Pugh. Therefore, the lien/levy will

Mcintosh 1988: White Privilege
According to McIntosh, 1988; White Privilege is defined as an expression of power and social
dominance of white European Americans over racial and ethnic minorities through the attainment of
unearned immunities and benefits. These benefits are individual experiences, institutional benefits,
and using things representative to the culture and being able to disregard culture contributions of
other groups by racial and ethnic. According to McIntosh 1988; racial privileges are like having

whites, white privilege is something they are not aware of. Even when it is acknowledged and been
made aware, it is still something that most do not what to talk about. When becoming aware of
white privilege it can make the person feel frustrated or anger, sadness, guilt, shame and even
helpless. They may also start to question some of their behaviors. White privilege is a benefit to
white people, but it also come with a lot of negative cost. "The way that white people respond to
racial privilege has cognitive, affective, and interpersonal cost" (Hays p.95). "Cognitive costs is

(McRobbie and Thornton 1995:559). Cosgrove (1989) however suggests that the press took some
time to discover rave culture. Collin (1997) suggests that when it was initially covered by 'The Sun'
in August 1988, reports were largely positive, endorsed as the latest dance craze, with the paper
even marketing its own smiley face logo T–shirts. Hostility quickly ensued however after two
deaths from ecstasy in June and October followed by a police drugs raid on a boat party in
November. By September 1988 "the ritualised sequence of moral panic – exaggerated press reports,
misleading headlines, self appointed moral spokesmen demanding action and weekend on weekend
of police raids – was unfolding" (Collin 1997:90). A Daily Mail editorial (26th June 1989) claimed
that "Acid House is a façade for dealing in drugs of the worst sort on a massive scale" and a
"cynical attempt to trap young people into drug dependency under the guise of friendly pop music
events". (cited in Collin 1997:97). However, as with all moral panics the media's and therefore the
public's fears had a relatively short lifespan (Cohen 1972; McRobbie and Thornton 1995). As raves
began move into the confines of nightclubs media attention began to fade and even occasional
deaths were reported as isolated incidents.

situation in 1989, the MacLean bothers had to improvise and make aggressive decisions like for

3.0 Question 2
3.1 Intangibility
Intangibility means the incapacity to assess the value gained from using an intangible service where
it can't be seen, touched, tasted, smelled or stored (Palmer, 2000). In intangibility there are two
different aspects that could be looked into which is the search quality and experience. The search
quality is when they observe the product without experiencing it at first hand. In reality they would
know what they would want to rent like for example kayaks, canoes or a motorboat by only looking
at it but have not experienced it yet. The experience is when the customer has rented the tangible
product and has had an experience using it while being able to assess whether it is satisfactory or
not. Once the service rented is satisfactory, the customers would tend to return to the same place as
they would have confidence on the service obtained. Services are harder to market to potential
customers compared to goods as there is no physical evidence to showcase. This is where the
advertisements, brochures and customers word of mouth play a big role. The advertisements and
brochures has to be crystal clear and direct to capture the attention of potential customers, giving
them an idea of the services that might be purchased, which in this case is rental of various boats.

Natural High Research Paper
Natural highs always come to every single person in their lifetime and they stick with that mostly
the rest of their lives. For me, a definition of a natural high is that it is something a person loves
doing so much that in a way they get high. My natural high was found early in my life at the age of
four; it was swimming. I still remember the first time I met the pool; it was an inflatable tube pool
that was about 5 feet deep and I was learning to swim. I was so happy that I tried my hardest to be
better and to become stronger. It was an amazing experience to be in the pool no matter how cold it
was, and just swimming. These are the memories I still carry with me. Swimming was just amazing

because it helps me think clearly and productively. I develop goals better, it helps me see the good in

I dearly hope that I will be able to swim as a career and to gain a scholarship from a college; for that

Copyright And Patients Act 1988
There is lots of laws over the world and one very important one for images and photographs is the
copyright and patients act 1988 this act gives the person that created the image full copyright of it as
they created the image so they have the full rights for their image which means how it is used and
distributed. The law was invented around the same time that the photocopiers came out which meant
that machine allowed people to copy other people's work so they created the law so that they could
not copy anyone's work without their permission. The person that created the work will be able to
have their work protected for 70 years from the date they have died. If you take someone else's work
and copy it or slightly change it you are breaking the law and you can sued for doing this through a

My Best Friend
This is the story of my high school best friend and me, and how our lives took different paths
regardless of what we thought and what we assumed. My friend and I met in a unique way. At that
time, I was working for my dad and needed a helper for the job I was performing. I, first told
another friend about the job opportunity, which he agreed to take, but on the first day of work he
had already changed his mind about working with me and asked another of his friends to take his

His name was Albert, he was a year younger than I was, but he talked like if he were five years
older than I was; he sounded convincing, and I had no reason to doubt him. I began to build an
association of him with a guy that had been schooled by life, he would always have something to
say about everything, it was like if in his short life span he had gone through mayor life lessons that
he felt open to share with newbies like me. As time continued to pass, our relationship started
growing, as well as my suspicions to everything he would tell me; I soon learned that he would
probably make a great writer, due to his immense imagination. I would just listen to him and ask
questions to which he would always have answers to. "Should I ask Bianca on a date, or just

problem of smoking and the arguments against it touch almost every aspect of life. There are not
only scientific arguments, but ethical, legal, medical, social, and a host of others fronts that can be
used for and against tobacco and smoking. At Ashland University it is no different. There are many
factors that must be considered before making a decision to ban all smoking on all outdoor areas of
Ashland's campus.
From my experience with the tobacco wars from the class "Science as a Cultural Force: The
Tobacco Wars", I am prepared to propose and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, it is perfectly rational to call smoking an "addiction" in my policy above. The main topic of
1988 US Surgeon General's Report was if tobacco was addictive. It stated three main conclusions.
First, it said that cigarettes and other forms of tobacco are addictive. Second, it stated that the reason
they are addictive is because of the nicotine found in them. Thirdly, it stated that this addictiveness
is much like heroin or cocaine. Prior to this report and since then there have been other studies and
experiments stating the addictiveness of tobacco and the effects of nicotine on the body. It is known
that nicotine increases the levels of dopamine in the brain and causes a burst of adrenaline. This
burst of adrenaline is pleasurable and is what is known as the "rush" or "kick" from smoking.
DeNoble and Mele figured out that rats would rather have nicotine than food and water once they
were addicted. Phillip Morris stopped them from publishing their findings in 1983. In 1995,
Stoleman and Jarvis did a study on nicotine's addictiveness and found that there are many different
withdrawal symptoms people go through when they are deprived of nicotine. They also found that
this withdrawal is only relieved by a nicotine and not a smoking placebo. This again furthers the fact
that smoking is addictive. Once a person starts smoking it quickly becomes an

I Had The Most Horrible Dreams
Alex awoke in a groggy stupor, confused and unaware of where she was. Angela, having seen that
her sister was coming out of her slumber, sat down next to her on the edge of the sofa and began
coaxing her into consciousness. "W–What happened?" asked Alex as she raised a hand up to her
aching head. "Oh..." she whined, "I had the most awful dreams." "Mama, Aunt Alex needs juice,"
said Liam as he brought his small glass over to them. "It will make Aunt Alex sick no more." "Yes,

"Relax, m'dear, I'm sure your parents had no knowledge of and absolutely nothing to do with Angela

"That's a load of horseshit," Alex responded. "Awe, well, maybe you will be comfortable in some of

The 1988 Free Trade Agreement
To ask why Canada entered the 1988 free trade agreement with the United States of America is to
ask a complicated question that is likely to garner a different answer from each respondent. The best
that one can do when analyzing the multitude of components that led to this agreement is to
eliminate any pre–conceived notions that they may hold about liberalized trade, and attempt to
objectively assess the issues that this country faced in the years leading up to 1988. Free trade
between Canada and the US is likely one of the most contentious issues that our country has ever
faced. This becomes apparent when studying Canadian history throughout the 19th and 20th
centuries. Canadian economic development has flourished, and been stunted, as a ... Show more

He did so without directly consulting the Canadian public. It seems that the economic recessions
witnessed in the mid 70's and early 80's, and the subsequent Macdonald Commission, signalled an
ideological shift in Canada from Keynesian principles of social responsibility, and government
economic intervention, to more austere, free market values associated with economists like Milton
Friedman. This is evident when we analyze the political ascension of 'New Right' figures Margaret
Thatcher in Britain, and Ronald Reagan in the US. Thatcher, noted for her self–described "war on
labour" and Reagan for his "trickle down" economic scheme were both revered by our own Brian
Mulroney, who emulated their efforts, facilitating enhanced corporate sovereignty in Canada. This
admiration that Mulroney had for Reagan may also have been conducive to the timeliness of the
FTA. A parallel can be drawn between theirs, and the relationship that had existed between William
Lyon Mckenzie King and Franklin Delano Roosevelt beginning in 1933, which saw great movement
towards Canada–US economic harmonization. However, it must be noted that Mulroney was
perceived to be "more corporatist than laissez faire". Nonetheless, the rise of the Mulroney
Conservatives provides a microcosm for the neo–liberal political consensus that spawned in this
period. Neo–liberal policies are diametrically opposed to mixed economy approaches, instead

1988 Presidential election Essay
Bush vs Dukakis The 1988 Presidential Election
On November 8, 1988, Republican Presidential candidate Vice President George H. W. Bush was
elected as the forty–first President of the United States of America. Bush defeated Democratic
challenger Governor Michael Dukakis by a ratio of a bout six–to–five. 49 million people voted for
Bush, netting him 426 electoral votes while 42 million voted for Dukakis getting him 112 electoral
votes. Strangely, a man not even running for President received an electoral vote; Lloyd Bentsen
(Democratic Vice President Nominee) received one electoral vote from the state of West Virginia.

Hart pulled out of the race, but only briefly. Hart reentered the race in late December 1987, but he
never recovered in the polls. Congressman Richard Gephardt started the primary season strong, with
a decisive victory in Iowa. However, Gephardt ran into money because he spent the bulk of his
funds in Iowa. He soon dropped out of the race. Senator Al Gore can attribute his lose to a weak
start in the campaign. Gore lost many early primaries, but he rebounded somewhat when he won six
states on Super Tuesday. Nevertheless, Gore lost because he failed to have a national base. The final
blow to Gore's presidential aspirations came when he lost the New York Primary.
When Gore dropped out, two strong candidates were left, Jesse Jackson and Governor Dukakis.
Jackson ran a strong campaign throughout the primary season. Jackson did not receive the
Democratic bid for President because he lacked a sufficient number of delegates to be nominated.
Many Democrats agreed with Jackson's views, but most did not consider him electable. Dukakis
won the Democratic nomination because of his strong national base and solid funding. He was now
able to tackle Vice President George Bush in the presidential election.
At the Republican National Convention, George Bush selected Senator Dan Quayle (R–IN) as his
running mate. The selection of Quayle as a running mate undoubtedly hurt Bush because many
people considered Quayle ill equipped for the job of Vice President. Governor

Separation Exists Between Society And The Penal System
Separation exists between society and the penal system, and due to this, there is a grave lack of
knowledge of what is happening behind bars and how we can improve the situation we have
currently in regards to the prison system. There are major flaws that exist within the penal system,
and Angela Davis highlighted the main one of secrecy. We know based off of research that our
prison population commonly consists of individuals who struggle academically (Petersilia, 2003, pg
32). Because of this lack of a strong education, they may not possess basic skills like reading, with
about 20 % performing at an illiterate level within state facilities (Petersilia, 2003, pg 32), which
prisons are not going around glorifying. Another sort of hidden and degrading factor that Davis does
not directly mention is the use of solitary confinement. We learned from Maggie's presentation the
harmful mental health effects on those whom are placed in solitary confinement (December 1,
presentations). While in solitary confinement, inmates are hidden away in "a place of punishment
within a place of punishment" (Conover, 2001, pg 126), while being degraded with neither little to
no time outside, nor any human interaction (Conover, 2001, pg 127). It's disturbing that it was not
intended as a form of punishment, yet is used as one now (October 22, film). During the History of
Prisons film we watched, they explained the use of solitary confinement for reflection purposes
(October 22, film).

Research Paper On Seoul 1988
Seoul 1988
For more than a decade before the Seoul 1988 Summer Olympics, politics has been the major
player. Boycotts due to political reasons have been on the rise, and efforts needed to be done to stop
it or at least slow down, as much as possible, the interference of politics in sports. The United States
of America and the USSR have not competed against each other in summer Olympic games since
1976, and another upset or boycott could end the continuation of the modern Olympic games
forever.
The city of Seoul was granted the honor of hosting the 24th (XXIV) Olympic games during the IOC
meeting in West Germany 1981. A few months before, South Korean president Chun Doo Hwan had
seized power through a military coup. He changed the countries constitution and gave himself a
seven–year term of office, which had ended on the 2nd of March 1988 (6 months prior to the 1988
games). Back to politics, if president Hwan, who was pro United States of America, wanted
international recognition and a world wide approved legitimacy to his rule and government, he
needed to guarantee a successful hosting of the games with no major boycotts. Immediately after the
end of the 1984 Los Angeles games, North Korea warned the IOC that all the communist countries
are planning to boycott the 1988 Olympic games in their support. Fortunately, the North Korean
demands were just to co–host the games with South Korea. Those demands were discussed between
both countries and IOC president, Juan Antonio Samaranch, in 1985. An agreement was reached and
a proposal signed between both countries and IOC on the 3rd of July 1986. This proposal gave

Stressors : My List Of Ten Stressors
Stressors: My list of ten stressors I would say my list of stressors include school, my two jobs, my
anxiety, homework, time, our house, my car, church, and exercise. I would say these are stressors
because at times especially when I 'm in school I want to rip my hair out I 'm so stressed and even
tend to become very emotional. I simmered down on classes this semester at Cypress so I 'm taking
three this time, due to stress. I work two jobs one at a retail clothing store in Buena Park, and the
other at Disneyland as a specialty sales clerk. I also am very religious so I find it hard to find time to
read my bible and go to church so I stress on no going, so I try to go every Thursday however I then
stress because I have so much time to do homework, and I feel I have so little time to finish it and
study. I also have really bad anxiety, that I'v had my whole life so I always worry about every little
thing you can think of and by the end of my day after stressing and worrying my brain literally
hurts. My first stressor I would like to talk about is school, I go to school every Monday and
Wednesday which isn 't a bad schedule, most semesters I go everyday of the week taking 12–15
units. I simmered down this semester due to the stress of it. I am taking philosophy, english 104, and
this class. I feel philosophy is definitely my biggest stressor it's just a lot of studying, work, and
concentration. After class I rush home to do homework due to my anxiety I worry I will run

positive feedback from my Senior Colleagues and Manger Paul Wilkinson with regards to my

On the day of my interview, I was anxious because of the contact I made with UNISON to re–

The Educational System Of 1988 Essay
Education is everything
Was our educational system created on a deeply mistaken theory? According to E.D. Hirsch the
educational system in 1988 was based on the teachings of a 50 year old theory from Jean Jacques
Rousseau. Hirsch, talks about John Dewey, "the writer who has most deeply affected modern
educational theory and practice"(Hirsch 1988). Dewey has based his theories on the old teachings of
Rousseau. "Only by piling up specific, communally shared information can children learn to
participate in complex cooperative activities with other members of their community"(Hirsch 1988)
is what Hirsch said, which completely contradicts what John Dewey was teaching. Hirsch goes on
to prove Dewey made assumptions and that he had been too reckless to reject certain teachings. The
educational system of 1988 was deeply flawed, according to Hirsch, the purpose of the article was
to show just that, his audience is anybody who will listen to his purpose, and his stance passionate
and concerning.
Throughout Hirsch 's article his purpose is quite clear, and it was to show that the educational
system of 1988 was deeply flawed by exhibiting a correlation of poverty and illiteracy. He
demonstrated the system was flawed by first quoting John Dewey's theory and then in the next
sentence he displayed an opposite belief. "Dewey assumed that...education need not to be tied to
specific content.[However, in doing so he] placed too much faith in children 's ability to learn

Color Guard Speeches
What is color guard? Color guard is a true test to physical strength and ability and it's where I spend
every waking hour trying to improve each toss, turn, and count. Color guard is where two, almost
three dozen girls spend most of our free time practicing something that will not get us a job. It won't
pay us in anything but joy. And as cliché as that sounds, it's true. Color guard will probably never
give us more than thousands upon millions of life lessons. Yet, we all still do it because we love it.
Color guard is striving to be the best you can be. It's socializing with some people you can't stand
half the time because somehow they became like family and mean more than the world to you. It's
sacrificing so many Fridays to do what you love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"You are the cause of all this pain." Sometimes there is a friend in your life that is more important to
you then you are to them, and that's perfectly normal, that's life. There are one or two friends like
that in my life. And I admit, once I realized that, or once they started ditching our plans for other
people, it stung for a little while, but I got over it. "You are the cause of all this love." The reason the
sting only hurt for a little is because I remembered how these people are still always there for me
when I need them to be. I remembered how much fun we have when we do hang out. I remember
how these people go out of their way to make one of my bad days good. I remember that they think
to do something as simple as asking me if I ate that day because we have practice. I remember that
at the end of the day if I REALLY need someone, they will be there no matter what. "You are the
thing I can't forget." There are some people you meet, some friendships you make, that are just
irreplaceable. Sometimes you connect with someone so strongly, so remarkably fast that nobody
believes it. Sometimes you connect with someone that you hated for years over something so small
that even you have a hard time believing it. Another connection I made with this piece is also with
color guard. Color guard is the cause of all my muscle aches, back aches, the reason I had to wear a
knee brace for a week, the cause of half my frustration most of the time, and also the reason I have
bruises on possibly every single part of my body, but it's all worth it because guard is something that
I love with every ounce in my body. No matter how rough times get, I know that I'm still going to be

It is imperative that the architect convince the client that he or she has the necessary experience and

although the design need not be done locally. Architects get business in a number of ways. "Walk–

processes: client gives a referral. A juried design competition is announced client publishes a "Call

potential client invites a limited number of architectural firms to submit their qualifications as the

reason being it could be a means of achieving control of the curriculum and the assessment,
enabling them to progress and monitor their spending control, as well as the rise in the standards of

This is due to children from different social background have different access to resources and have
different experiences of education. This means that lower class children are still more likely to have

for all the pupils through education the system, it still leaves a barrier which is not equal. This lack
of equality could also reflect from the parents as the amount of knowledge parents have about
schooling and the educational market would be different. Parents that have more of a cultural, social
and economical capital have more choice on where to send their child. Money can help if the best
school is far away of if the child needs their own textbooks for further study. Parents or guardians
who have a good understanding and knowledge of how schooling works are in better position to
influence their child to choose a certain path. This therefore puts the middle class and above in an

Londoners Club Milestones
This week D.Y.J. faced F.C. Arsenal, dressed in their lucky yellow and blue kit. As a relatively new
team in the league, North Londoners presented a puzzle for us, although it was clear that we were
about to face a young and fit team. There was not much to worry about, after managing to survive
against a top notch team like Maxela, and paying revenge to our rivaling Reboceros, and utilizing
just eleven players in both previous games, there was a strong feeling that we were going to be all

Our main idea and the ultimate goal for D.Y.J. from the very beginning was to establish a club

can support several teams of a relatively equal strength, but of a different age, or playing a different

another, if a player's level of fitness, injuries, amount of available time, desired level of competition

club unsuitable. Building a club like this (especially when your coach and top club officer are not
sixty years old and do not have any financial interest in the project) is not easy. In fact, I have to say

My Experience In High School
Junior High I would like to pretend that the bridge between elementary school and high school did
not exist for me–that junior high just did not happen. I was a seemingly thoughtless kid, determined
to make it out of school entirely and live in my own world where nobody could tell me what to do. I
was awkward, irrational, and rebellious, three qualities I cannot thank my parents enough for
dealing with. But the experiences and people I encountered in my junior high years almost made
that whole chapter of my life worth reliving. I went through a lot in junior high, and have many
memories of ridiculous instances that make it easy to make fun of myself. I did a lot of things in
junior high that I discontinued in high school, in terms of activities and hobbies. I played saxophone
in the band, played football, and ran track–all things I enjoyed to a degree, but decided to sacrifice
to make time for other things. Of these things, band was the most difficult for me to give up. I loved
going to football games, both home and away, to play for the Eagles, and felt the first sense of pride
in my community as a member of the band. Band gave me something to strive to get better at, and
gave me a group of friends I could always agree with on something, thanks to our shared
experiences. I learned to always play the songs with great care, because if one person is off, the
whole band is. This taught me that if a group depended on me to do something, doing it right

The course of action eliminates any potential setbacks that may have occurred due to budget cuts.
This COA also follows President Trumps wish to continue with growing our military and increase
defense spending considering it is a $2.4 billion increase from last fiscal year. Disadvantages: The
Department of Defense will fail to fulfill the presidential memorandum and continue to use the
current amount of funds. Programs and positions that are redundant or unneeded will continue
spending government funds that would otherwise not be spent. Alternative Two: Branch Cuts Scope:
Implement a 15% cut to each branch of the military. This will be an aggressive yet necessary cut in
order to meet the requirements of our presidential memorandum. The cuts include: reduce Army
budget from $148 billion to $125.8 billion, reduce Navy budget from $164.9 billion to $140.165
billion, reduce Air Force budget from $166.9 billion to $141.865 billion, and reduce the defense–
wide budget from $102.9 billion to $87.465 billion. This will result in the $87.404 billion cut
needed to achieve our budget goals. Cost: By evoking these measures, the Department of Defense
will save 87.404 billion dollars which is slightly more than the necessary 87.4 billion in cuts that the
presidential memorandum calls for.

Essay On The Moment Of Happiness In 1988
The year 1988 was filled with a variety mixed emotions. There were moments when people fell into
depression from losing their loved ones, but also moments of happiness because of large
achievements that have been reached. Airplane, train, and helicopter crashes played a major role in
the depressing portion of the year, but the death of many famous people and the tropical storms that
took place in Rio De Janeiro was also included. Some of the happier moments from 1988 were
when Barry Sander's won the Heisman Trophy during his junior in college, and when scientist found
a fossil that dated back 390 million years ago.
An airplane crashed in southwestern China, killing all 108 passengers on January 18th. The airplane
was reported to of crashed at 10:15 P.M. Monday night. The passenger plane was leaving from
Beijing, heading for Chongqing. Until the crash happened about five miles from the airport in
Sichuan. The plane was reported to be carrying 10 crew members and 98 passengers. Four of the
people that were in the crash were foreigners, three Japanese and a british man. The three Japanese

Informative Essay On Colorguard
Color guard is an activity you participate in the marching band and spinning flags, rifles, and sabers
while dancing as well. The activity color guard has been around for many years, but still is not very
common to most people. If you went around asking a survey of who knew what color guard truly
was, the numbers would most likely be pretty low. I first auditioned for color guard my freshman
year of high school with roughly thirty girls. They were only taking twenty–two, out of the thirty
girls. The returning members took up eighteen out of the thirty girls so there were truly only four
spots available and twelve girls wanted their spots. I auditioned and gave it my all, and they pulled
my number and I was officially a part of the Moon Area Color Guard. ... Show more content on

captain. I was very close with the band director, but I wanted him to choose who deserved captain

color guard captain auditions were I signed up immediately. I first had to sign a few papers to
guarantee I wanted to try out and I wasn't going to back out. Secondly, I had to send surveys out to
my teachers and there were a series of questions and they had to rate me on a scale 1–5 on how
much I fit the criteria and then send them back to my band

The Multiculturalism Act ( 1988 )

  • 1. The Multiculturalism Act ( 1988 ) Canada has always been recognized as a multicultural country with a diversity of ethnic groups. According to the 2006 census (Statistics Canada, 2006), there was a total of 1,109,980 new immigrants arriving Canada from various countries between 2001 and 2006. The Multiculturalism Act (1988) is adopted to encourage ethnic groups to preserve their own languages and cultural heritages while integrating into the Canadian culture (Minster of Justice, 1984). Despite that, constant barriers remain in immigrants' experiences of acculturation. Newcomers who failed to acculturate into the host country may experience social exclusion, which could result in a reduction in their health statuses. Although recent immigrants are often healthier than the general Canadian population, their health status tend to converge to the Canadian–born population with increased length of residence; for instance, statistics revealed worsening immigrant health in chronic conditions like diabetes and tuberculosis (Statistics Canada, 2002). This is referred as the "healthy immigrant effect". Immigrants' initial healthy status is explained by self–selection reasons, and screenings that are regulated by the Immigration Act (Statistics Canada, 2002). However, it is more crucial to understand the reasons for their deterioration in health over time. In this paper, we will explore a framework that explains the pathway between social exclusion, an important social determinant of health, and the deterioration in the ... • 2. Are Energy Drinks Safe? Question/Topic #1: Are energy drinks safe? Answer: Energy drink manufacturers advertise energy drinks as booting your energy levels, sleeplessness, and to help you become more aware. However, the larger amounts of caffeine and other supplements are sometimes not properly reported. In a study of over 3, 600 adults, the excessive amount of caffeine predisposed the participants to anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and many more. Resources: 1. McGraw, M. M. (January 01, 2013). Are energy drinks safe?. Nursing, 43, 3.) 2. Rath, M. (February 01, 2012). Energy drinks: What is all the hype? The dangers of energy drink consumption. Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, 24, 2, 70–76. Question/Topic #2: What is the most effective ACL reconstruction technique? Answer: Correct anatomic tunnel positioning is a key part of ACL reconstruction. In one of a few studies that have been tested, results showed that the variability or standard deviations were on the high side with standard deviations of 3.2mm between the intra and inter observers. So even though this technique is tactful, future observations need to be conducted to reduce this variability. Resources: 1. Shafizadeh, S., Balke, M., Kelz, S., Hoeher, J., & Banerjee, M. (April 01, 2014). Low inter– and intraobserver variability allows for reliable tunnel measurement in ACL reconstruction using the quadrant method. • 5. Gibbs Model Of Reflection 1988 INTRODUCTION Reflection brings back past experiences to help an individual develop their knowledge. It is usually linked to having a better understanding of what has occurred and why. Reflection gives an individual the opportunity to reflect on how previous experiences might be improved, and get feedback from an objective and a subjective point of view (Liobe et al 2016:7). With the new system of Revalidation, the NMC (2015) states that reflection and reflective practice are sued to improve personal and professional development by helping nurses to reflect on feedback received from patients, colleagues and others. This is very important for nurses as it identifies areas of improvement. The model of reflection I chose to use in my essay is the Gibbs Model of reflection 1988. The reason for this is because this model allows me to describe, analyse and evaluate clearly and precisely my experiences. In addition to this, it also helps me to reflect and put into practice the learning I gained at university. Most importantly, it gives me the opportunity to create an action plan, which enables me to look at my practice and see what I would change and improve in the future (Benbow W et al 2016) DESCRIPTION In ... The Olympic Olympics At The 1988 Seoul Olympics Essay The 100m final during the 1988 Seoul Olympics, went from being called the greatest race in history to the dirtiest race in history over a time period of 24 hours. Ben Johnson Bronze medalist at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, Gold Medal at the Rome World championships in 1987 and a former record holder for the 100m sprints and now a permanent dent in the history of Canadian and Olympic history after he tested positive for the anabolic steroid Stanozol, at the 1988 Seoul Olympic games. The event everyone had been waiting for at the Seoul Olympics was that of the 100 meter final where spectators and fans would be able to who the fastest man alive was. The Rivalry between Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson had been built up after many years of close competition most notably since the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where Carl Lewis winning gold for America and Ben Johnson winning bronze for Canada. When Ben Johnson won the 100 meter final at the world championship in Rome he had beaten Carl Lewis five times before and gained a world record. This caused him to become very popular with the media and in Canada with people seeing him as a new hope for Canadian sports after their embarrassment at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 with Canada being the first country to hold the Games and not win a single gold medal. After Rome Carl and Ben both set their sights on The Zurich track and field meet on August the 17, which was only a month out from the Seoul Olympics. Before this meet, however, ... Conservative Movement Thesis Carter's thesis is: Although the Conservative Movement gained followers through careful advertisement and presentation of candidates in the 20th century, their agenda was mainly aided by racist social opinions, anti–welfare economic movements, and commercial displaying of candidates. George Wallace (Democrat) led a social movement so angry and powerful that he forced Richard Nixon (Republican) to learn the art of fully exploiting white voter's racial fears without running openly racist campaigns or governing in a racist way. Since then, people with presidential aspirations and the presidents themselves have evolved and refined these tricks into racially coded political advertisements, slogans, and symbolically charged events. George Wallace came into power by leading a social movement that was based on exploiting white voter's racial fears. At the beginning, the Democrat's positions were openly racist. Wallace started exploiting white voter's racial fears when he stated "Segregation now! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!" Hostility quickly ensued however after two deaths from ecstasy in June and October followed by a police drugs raid on a boat party in November. By September 1988 "the ritualised sequence of moral panic – exaggerated press reports, misleading headlines, self appointed moral spokesmen demanding action and weekend on weekend of police raids – was unfolding" (Collin 1997:90). A Daily Mail editorial (26th June 1989) claimed that "Acid House is a façade for dealing in drugs of the worst sort on a massive scale" and a "cynical attempt to trap young people into drug dependency under the guise of friendly pop music events". In intangibility there are two different aspects that could be looked into which is the search quality and experience. The search quality is when they observe the product without experiencing it at first hand. In reality they would know what they would want to rent like for example kayaks, canoes or a motorboat by only looking at it but have not experienced it yet. The experience is when the customer has rented the tangible product and has had an experience using it while being able to assess whether it is satisfactory or not. Once the service rented is satisfactory, the customers would tend to return to the same place as they would have confidence on the service obtained. Services are harder to market to potential customers compared to goods as there is no physical evidence to showcase. This is where the advertisements, brochures and customers word of mouth play a big role. The advertisements and brochures has to be crystal clear and direct to capture the attention of potential customers, giving them an idea of the services that might be purchased, which in this case is rental of various boats. 3.2 Inseparability Inseparability means the ... So, it is perfectly rational to call smoking an "addiction" in my policy above. The main topic of 1988 US Surgeon General's Report was if tobacco was addictive. It stated three main conclusions. First, it said that cigarettes and other forms of tobacco are addictive. Second, it stated that the reason they are addictive is because of the nicotine found in them. Thirdly, it stated that this addictiveness is much like heroin or cocaine. Prior to this report and since then there have been other studies and experiments stating the addictiveness of tobacco and the effects of nicotine on the body. It is known that nicotine increases the levels of dopamine in the brain and causes a burst of adrenaline. This burst of adrenaline is pleasurable and is what is known as the "rush" or "kick" from smoking. DeNoble and Mele figured out that rats would rather have nicotine than food and water once they were addicted. Phillip Morris stopped them from publishing their findings in 1983. In 1995, Stoleman and Jarvis did a study on nicotine's addictiveness and found that there are many different withdrawal symptoms people go through when they are deprived of nicotine. They also found that this withdrawal is only relieved by a nicotine and not a smoking placebo. This again furthers the fact that smoking is addictive. The 1988 Free Trade Agreement To ask why Canada entered the 1988 free trade agreement with the United States of America is to ask a complicated question that is likely to garner a different answer from each respondent. The best that one can do when analyzing the multitude of components that led to this agreement is to eliminate any pre–conceived notions that they may hold about liberalized trade, and attempt to objectively assess the issues that this country faced in the years leading up to 1988. Free trade between Canada and the US is likely one of the most contentious issues that our country has ever faced. This becomes apparent when studying Canadian history throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Canadian economic development has flourished, and been stunted, as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He did so without directly consulting the Canadian public. It seems that the economic recessions witnessed in the mid 70's and early 80's, and the subsequent Macdonald Commission, signalled an ideological shift in Canada from Keynesian principles of social responsibility, and government economic intervention, to more austere, free market values associated with economists like Milton Friedman. This is evident when we analyze the political ascension of 'New Right' figures Margaret Thatcher in Britain, and Ronald Reagan in the US. Thatcher, noted for her self–described "war on labour" and Reagan for his "trickle down" economic scheme were both revered by our own Brian Mulroney, who emulated their efforts, facilitating enhanced corporate sovereignty in Canada. This admiration that Mulroney had for Reagan may also have been conducive to the timeliness of the FTA. A parallel can be drawn between theirs, and the relationship that had existed between William Lyon Mckenzie King and Franklin Delano Roosevelt beginning in 1933, which saw great movement towards Canada–US economic harmonization. However, it must be noted that Mulroney was perceived to be "more corporatist than laissez faire". Nonetheless, the rise of the Mulroney Conservatives provides a microcosm for the neo–liberal political consensus that spawned in this period. Neo–liberal policies are diametrically opposed to mixed economy approaches, instead favouring free market ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bush was elected as the forty–first President of the United States of America. Bush defeated Democratic challenger Governor Michael Dukakis by a ratio of a bout six–to–five. 49 million people voted for Bush, netting him 426 electoral votes while 42 million voted for Dukakis getting him 112 electoral votes. He soon dropped out of the race. Senator Al Gore can attribute his lose to a weak start in the campaign. Gore lost many early primaries, but he rebounded somewhat when he won six states on Super Tuesday. Nevertheless, Gore lost because he failed to have a national base. The final blow to Gore's presidential aspirations came when he lost the New York Primary. When Gore dropped out, two strong candidates were left, Jesse Jackson and Governor Dukakis. Jackson ran a strong campaign throughout the primary season. Jackson did not receive the Democratic bid for President because he lacked a sufficient number of delegates to be nominated. Many Democrats agreed with Jackson's views, but most did not consider him electable. Dukakis won the Democratic nomination because of his strong national base and solid funding. He was now able to tackle Vice President George Bush in the presidential election. At the Republican National Convention, George Bush selected Senator Dan Quayle (R–IN) as his running mate. • 25. Separation Exists Between Society And The Penal System Separation exists between society and the penal system, and due to this, there is a grave lack of knowledge of what is happening behind bars and how we can improve the situation we have currently in regards to the prison system. There are major flaws that exist within the penal system, and Angela Davis highlighted the main one of secrecy. We know based off of research that our prison population commonly consists of individuals who struggle academically (Petersilia, 2003, pg 32). Because of this lack of a strong education, they may not possess basic skills like reading, with about 20 % performing at an illiterate level within state facilities (Petersilia, 2003, pg 32), which prisons are not going around glorifying. Another sort of hidden and degrading factor that Davis does not directly mention is the use of solitary confinement. We learned from Maggie's presentation the harmful mental health effects on those whom are placed in solitary confinement (December 1, presentations). While in solitary confinement, inmates are hidden away in "a place of punishment within a place of punishment" (Conover, 2001, pg 126), while being degraded with neither little to no time outside, nor any human interaction (Conover, 2001, pg 127). It's disturbing that it was not intended as a form of punishment, yet is used as one now (October 22, film). During the History of Prisons film we watched, they explained the use of solitary confinement for reflection purposes (October 22, film). There has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Research Paper On Seoul 1988 Seoul 1988 For more than a decade before the Seoul 1988 Summer Olympics, politics has been the major player. Boycotts due to political reasons have been on the rise, and efforts needed to be done to stop it or at least slow down, as much as possible, the interference of politics in sports. The United States of America and the USSR have not competed against each other in summer Olympic games since 1976, and another upset or boycott could end the continuation of the modern Olympic games forever. The city of Seoul was granted the honor of hosting the 24th (XXIV) Olympic games during the IOC meeting in West Germany 1981. A few months before, South Korean president Chun Doo Hwan had seized power through a military coup. He changed the countries constitution and gave himself a seven–year term of office, which had ended on the 2nd of March 1988 (6 months prior to the 1988 games). Back to politics, if president Hwan, who was pro United States of America, wanted international recognition and a world wide approved legitimacy to his rule and government, he needed to guarantee a successful hosting of the games with no major boycotts. Immediately after the end of the 1984 Los Angeles games, North Korea warned the IOC that all the communist countries are planning to boycott the 1988 Olympic games in their support. Fortunately, the North Korean demands were just to co–host the games with South Korea. Those demands were discussed between both countries and IOC president, Juan Antonio Samaranch, in 1985. An agreement was reached and a proposal signed between both countries and IOC on the 3rd of July 1986. This proposal gave North ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stressors : My List Of Ten Stressors Stressors: My list of ten stressors I would say my list of stressors include school, my two jobs, my anxiety, homework, time, our house, my car, church, and exercise. I would say these are stressors because at times especially when I 'm in school I want to rip my hair out I 'm so stressed and even tend to become very emotional. I simmered down on classes this semester at Cypress so I 'm taking three this time, due to stress. I work two jobs one at a retail clothing store in Buena Park, and the other at Disneyland as a specialty sales clerk. I also am very religious so I find it hard to find time to read my bible and go to church so I stress on no going, so I try to go every Thursday however I then stress because I have so much time to do homework, and I feel I have so little time to finish it and study. I also have really bad anxiety, that I'v had my whole life so I always worry about every little thing you can think of and by the end of my day after stressing and worrying my brain literally hurts. My first stressor I would like to talk about is school, I go to school every Monday and Wednesday which isn 't a bad schedule, most semesters I go everyday of the week taking 12–15 units. I simmered down this semester due to the stress of it. I am taking philosophy, english 104, and this class. • 30. The Educational System Of 1988 Essay Education is everything Was our educational system created on a deeply mistaken theory? According to E.D. Hirsch the educational system in 1988 was based on the teachings of a 50 year old theory from Jean Jacques Rousseau. Hirsch, talks about John Dewey, "the writer who has most deeply affected modern educational theory and practice"(Hirsch 1988). Dewey has based his theories on the old teachings of Rousseau. "Only by piling up specific, communally shared information can children learn to participate in complex cooperative activities with other members of their community"(Hirsch 1988) is what Hirsch said, which completely contradicts what John Dewey was teaching. Hirsch goes on to prove Dewey made assumptions and that he had been too reckless to reject certain teachings. The educational system of 1988 was deeply flawed, according to Hirsch, the purpose of the article was to show just that, his audience is anybody who will listen to his purpose, and his stance passionate and concerning. Throughout Hirsch 's article his purpose is quite clear, and it was to show that the educational system of 1988 was deeply flawed by exhibiting a correlation of poverty and illiteracy. He demonstrated the system was flawed by first quoting John Dewey's theory and then in the next sentence he displayed an opposite belief. "Dewey assumed that...education need not to be tied to specific content.[However, in doing so he] placed too much faith in children 's ability to learn general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Color guard is where two, almost three dozen girls spend most of our free time practicing something that will not get us a job. It won't pay us in anything but joy. And as cliché as that sounds, it's true. Color guard will probably never give us more than thousands upon millions of life lessons. Yet, we all still do it because we love it. And I admit, once I realized that, or once they started ditching our plans for other people, it stung for a little while, but I got over it. "You are the cause of all this love." The reason the sting only hurt for a little is because I remembered how these people are still always there for me when I need them to be. I remembered how much fun we have when we do hang out. I remember how these people go out of their way to make one of my bad days good. I remember that they think to do something as simple as asking me if I ate that day because we have practice. This means that lower class children are still more likely to have a lesser education than those pupils who are more privileged (). This lack of equality could also reflect from the parents as the amount of knowledge parents have about schooling and the educational market would be different. Parents that have more of a cultural, social and economical capital have more choice on where to send their child. Money can help if the best school is far away of if the child needs their own textbooks for further study. Parents or guardians who have a good understanding and knowledge of how schooling works are in better position to influence their child to choose a certain path. I was a seemingly thoughtless kid, determined to make it out of school entirely and live in my own world where nobody could tell me what to do. I was awkward, irrational, and rebellious, three qualities I cannot thank my parents enough for dealing with. But the experiences and people I encountered in my junior high years almost made that whole chapter of my life worth reliving. I went through a lot in junior high, and have many memories of ridiculous instances that make it easy to make fun of myself. I did a lot of things in junior high that I discontinued in high school, in terms of activities and hobbies. I played saxophone in the band, played football, and ran track–all things I enjoyed to a degree, but decided to sacrifice to make time for other things.
