How Preliminary Task Learning Improved Main Product
1. Looking back at your Preliminary task,
what do you feel you have learnt and
improved on from the progression from
it to the full product?

2. Time management
We spent a lot longer planning our task than we did on the
preliminary and we set up two whatsapp groups, one with all
the actors and one with just me Aydin and Pete so that we
could organise things related to the task like the filming,
editing and planning. By creating things like this our time
management was a lot better and we were a lot calmer and
more relaxed about the task than we were in the preliminary.
3. Script
In our preliminary there was a lot more dialogue and the
speaking was one of the main parts of it, we thought that the
main task should be more concentrated on the variety of
shots and how they tell the story so we only had a short clip
with two people talking on the phone. We feel although this
makes the audience concentrate more on what's going on
rather than just trying to hear them speak. They will notice
much more and feel part of the scene if it is all visual.
4. Research
When making our preliminary we didn't really do any
research on similar thrillers and how we could make it really
good. However we learnt from this and did a fair bit for the
main task, we researched the thrillers ‘Donnie Brasco’ and
‘Taxi Driver’. We used these as guides for our opening
credits and they helped us discover that we could make the
titles blend in and interact with the environment.

6. Experience
We used the experience that we gained from the preliminary
task to enhance our performance in our main task, we used
the skills that we had gained and learnt from our mistakes to
make it as good as possible. We decided to re-record all of
the sounds in our main task because some of them weren't
as clear as they could be and this made them stand out.
