Question 5 form evaluation

  1. 1. HOW DID WEATTRACT/ADDRESS OUR By Jamie Gibbins AUDIENCE?
  2. 2. HOW DID WE CREATE TENSION?Music- this was a key part of our main task so we knew weneeded to find a piece that had a gradual build up and itneeded to be subtle but at the same time outstanding. Wefound a piece of music that fitted perfectly into our thriller sowe emailed the creator straight away to ask for permission touse it in our task. The music we used was Mattia Cupelli - TheWar For Earth, it is very mysterious and it has an extremelygood build up to the ending.Props- When planning our main task we decided that it wouldbe very good and realistic if we had guns, these made ourthriller seem much more professional and organised. The use ofa gun means that people will automatically feel on edge andthey will feel very tense.
  3. 3. HOW DID WE CREATE TENSION?Costumes- This was a key part of our thriller and so we decidedthat we should make both sets of henchmen match in some sortof way. One set were both in chinos and a shirt, this looked verysmart and organised whilst the other pair were in black t -shirtsand camo trousers, this . This would create tension because it ’sa deal between opposites, also the use of the matchingcostumes would mean that it would seem very organised andprofessionally done.
  4. 4. HOW DID WE ADDRESS AND ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE?We built the tension very well and it had a slow build up yet therewas still quite a lot happening In the scenes. How we engaged the audience and built the tension?-The music starts of as very mysterious and engages the audiencestraight away.- After this the phone call makes the audience think abut the plotand whats going on, It will mean that they are waiting inanticipation of whats going to happen.-The use of the exaggerated sound of the ticking watch shows howtime is running out and that there could be a life at risk.-There is then a close up of an assault rifle and this means thatthe audience will know that things could get violent any second sothey will be engaged throughout. When the car pulls in the gatesthe mise en scene of the caution signs shows that there could bedanger ahead and that anything could happen.
  5. 5. HOW DID WE ADDRESS AND ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE?-We didnt’t hold the camera completely steady because wewanted the audience to feel like they were seeing thesurroundings through the detectives view. This makes theaudience feel more tense because he was so close to them andcould get spotted any minute.-When the man gets dragged out of the car it answers a lot ofquestions for the audience about what they are doing there andwhy everything seems so secretive.- And finally the build up of music means that it goes fromsubtle to exciting and loud as we get closer to the end and goesout with a bang.
