1. 7)Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Before we made the final product we done a preliminary task, in this task we had to make a 30 seconds video of a person walking and entering a room and starts a conversation with another person. By doing this preliminary task we found out that it wasn’t easy to make a scene which only last 30 seconds , different angles and shots had to be used for one small scene.
The location was a room in college and props wasn’t taken into consideration. When editing the video. I learnt how to cross fade to clips and how to cut the shots. The overall video didn’t come out very well as the sound wasn’t clear and the editing wasn’t good enough as I wasn’t quiet ready to use the software.
When we made the main opening to a thriller we done a lot of research and planning to produce a good thriller.
We done a specific questionnaire about our thriller to get more information and to get positive and negative feedbacks, one of the questions was ‘ what do you except in an action thriller ? ‘ The answer for this question helped us with the production of the thriller.
We researched into other action thriller movies and analyzed the opening so we can get ideas and have an idea of how an action thriller should be.
I believe the preliminary task really helped us with the main product, as when editing the main thriller opening I knew what I was doing and I knew how to do the basic edits. The research also made it easier to make the video.
Compared to the premlimiry tast the main product was much better in many ways, we had more camera angles such as low angle shots tracking shots and a variety of them. We also had sound effects and non diagetic sound which was the soundtrack, whereas in the preliminary task we only had the diagetic dialogues. In the final product we had the chance to explore more into editing and we used slow motion effects and many more but in the preliminary we didn’t have many different editing’s.
I believe the organization wasn’t good enough as some of the shooting days didn’t go to plan and as a group we had some disagreements with some of the scenes. However overall our work rate was good as we finished and posted the final video before the deadline.
Finally as a group we feel very succeful with our final product as a lot of the shots and editing seemed like a professional movie, and we were happy with what we produced, I believe if we used a more professional camera and better equipments for tracking the video could look more professional.
