Evaluation Question 7
1. EVALUATION
QUESTION 7
Comparing Preliminary project and Main film project
The difference between the two projects was to me for the
preliminary project I didn’t get a good understanding of anything
we did as the group I worked with did change a lot of our first idea
on the day we were filming and we didn’t have a lot of shots so it
looked very short. For the Main project I did join the same group
but this time as we got a better understanding of the course we got
a good understanding of planning everything we aimed to do for
our film even though we did change our idea at first. I thought it
came together well and looked good when actually filming
everything.
2. PRELIMINARY
PROJECT
I was excited to start the practical work in the media course, but I don’t think I was getting an understanding of how
hard it was going to be. When we did start filming we used shots such as a long shot, an over the shoulder shot
and a shot reverse shot.
I felt that my group and I hadn’t focused on what are script actually was because we decided to change a lot of it
on the day so a lot of it was improvised when filming which we shouldn’t have done. I thought it effected how the
film was done, it looked very short and not a lot of thought was put into it.
The good thing about this project was the editing, it was a quick job to do, at the time the short scene didn’t look as
short as it did when we watched it on a bigger screen. It was never as good as we thought it was. I hadn’t used the
macks before so I was happy that we got to use them to edit our scene so it made it look better than it could have
been.
In my opinion, the preliminary project was not as good as the main project because me and my group never had as
good an understanding of that as we did for the main project.
3. MAIN FILM
PROJECT
I definitely preferred doing the main project to the preliminary project as it looked like it could be more fun to do
and we could do a lot more with editing and filming. When filming we always knew what it was we were going to
film but it was all about finding the right time to do it as someone wasn’t in on the day we were supposed to film
so it made it a lot harder with all the rescheduling.
I felt that my group and I progressed massively from the preliminary project, we knew what to do and we got a
better understanding of the course. I felt that editing was the best part because it is the part I like doing the most
and this time on our film we could add sounds and effects which would definitely make our film really good.
We never had many problems when it came to filming as we knew what to do and we never wanted to change
anything, we knew our settings, we knew our script and then it was just about getting on the camera and then to
edit it and complete our film.
I enjoyed the main project more than the preliminary project as there was more to do and it was a longer task to
work on.
