2. Do you like this cover?
The first question was do you like this cover?
The feedback from this great as everyone who
answered the question said they liked it. The
front cover is usually the main selling point and
a good cover will get a lot more sales than a
poor cover design. With the target market all
saying they like the cover is great and means
more people will buy it if the group that
answered the magazine reflects the whole of
my target market.

The second question on the questionnaire was
there for the target market to fill out and write
what they liked. There was various different
answers in the responses but some appeared
quite a lot. One was that the use of photos was
liked as it appeared seven times which is more
that half the responses. This is good and the
main pictures or even sub images are often a
main reason why they customer buys the
magazine as they may see a artist they like or
the stance, mise en scene and props could also
draw attention to the magazine and get it sold. A
lot of people also said that they liked the colour
scheme and this is great as the house style
reflects the genre and meaning of the
magazine. If a lot of people like the colour
scheme then they are more likely to buy it and
read it. Finally there was also a lot of like for
circle with the competition. People always like
winning things and this is a great way to get it
sold as they might buy it as they want the

The next questionnaire was trying to see the
bad points of the cover so I can improve them at
another date. As some on the previous question
liked the main image some also don’t like. The
main image is very important and even thought
a lot like it some don’t and I will need to get a
main image that everyone or as many as
possible like to improve sales. There is also a
number of people that answered the
questionnaire saying that they don’t like the
colour scheme as it is too bright or just not the
right choice. The two main answers that were
disliked features were also liked by others so it
shows that people have different opinions and
they you have to get a balance to try and please
as any customers as possible.
5. This question asked what genre the target audience thought the genre was about. This question was
important as it is important to know what genre a magazine is quickly and easily so you know if you want to
buy it or not. I tried to make it clear what genre it was and 57% found that they thought it was pop which is
good that a lot over half know what it is about. Also about 20% thought is it RnB which isn’t that bad as it is
quite similar and it does include some RnB as well as mainly pop artists.
What music genre do you think this Magazine targets?
6. Do you think the colour scheme is
effective for the cover?
Colour scheme is very important on the cover of
a magazine as it reflects the mood and genre of
the magazine. Black, grey and red would look
good on a rock magazine but would not be
expected on my pop magazine. However 93%
of people that answered my questionnaire said
it looked good an this was great. If the target
market didn’t like the house style then they are
a lot less likely to buy the magazine as it reflects
the magazine and gives an important first
impression. Thankfully most liked the colour
scheme I chose and this would help sell a lot
more if on the shelves.
7. Would you buy the music magazine
based on the cover?
The cover is a massive part in the magazine
and one of the major factors of getting the issue
sold. This question showed me that 64% would
buy the magazine based on the layout, style,
colours and the look of the cover. This figure is
good as music magazines are becoming
increasingly unpopular with technologic
advances but I would like this figure to be higher
by maybe 10% or so. The reason say this is
with less and less people buying music
magazine you want as many as possible to like
the cover giving your self more chance of selling
more. This shows to me that some of the
comments in the earlier question about changes
you would like to see should be seriously looked
at and considered.
8. What age do you think the magazine is
aimed at?
The seventh question about the magazine was
an important one as the age group is important
and needs to be targeted properly. It good that
the answers 31-40, 41-50 or 50+ wasn’t choose
as they are completely wrong and weren’t
meant to be aimed at in any way. The two most
popular answers were 11-20 and 21-30 and
these could both apply to the magazine. The 1120 age group is what it is mainly aimed at and
the majority agreed with this with 86% feeling
that it was aimed at this age group. There was a
small amounts that voted for the next group but
this isn’t too bad some buyers and readers
might be of this age.
9. Do you think the main image is good?
The main image will always be important on a
music magazine as it shows the big star that is
featured in the issue and really draws many
customers in sometimes not regulars as they
just want to see what there favourite artists had
to say. The results from this question are great
as it shows that nearly all of the answers say
the main image is good which can really help
sell the issue and as over 90% like the picture
this is a lot of potential customers more
interested in buying it.
10. Do you think the music magazine looks
professional?
The idea of making this magazine is to make a
professional looking magazine as a magazine
which looks badly thrown together wont get
brought by many and the poor cover will be
seen and then represent the whole magazine as
people will think the whole magazine is poor
too. However the target group liked the main
image and this means they will be more likely to
buy it as it stands out and looks good. I could
have added a question asking what you like or
dislike about the cover.
11. What would you like to see on the
cover which isn't there?

Improved top strip
The final question was asking what the target
audience would like to see on the cover. There
was a variety of answers such and one that
appeared a coupe of times was improved top
strip. I agree with what they are saying as it is a
bit bland and boing as it only has one piece of
information and text on. This could be improved
by adding more information and text that draws
in the reader. Another feature that was
requested a lot was some more images. I feel
that one more picture could be added but it isn’t
essential. A lot of people like see faces with
recognisable people to know there inside rather
than text and I agree it easier and better to
make the cover more visual than filled with text.
One reply said add a price but that is on there
so maybe this means I have to make it bigger
and easier to see as it is important.
