This document summarizes a study that partially replaced perlite powder with cement in concrete at percentages of 5%, 10%, and 15% to analyze the effect on compressive strength. Perlite is a volcanic glass that expands when heated, making it light weight. The study found that replacing 10% of cement with perlite powder produced an optimum result. Compressive strength increased with curing time and as the percentage of perlite replacement decreased, with the highest strength of 56.35 MPa found at 28 days for the 5% replacement mix. In conclusion, partial replacement of cement with perlite powder in concrete was found to increase strength while maintaining a lighter weight.
