total worth to touch $300 billion
Tesla Co-founder and CEO Elon Musk has emerged as the richest
person in the world and the first person headed towards a net worth of
$300 billion. He added $36 billion to his fortune on October 25, 2021,
following an announcement that said Hertz Global Holdings Inc is
ordering 100,000 electric vehicles from Tesla.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index reported it as the largest single-day
gain in its Index history so far.
At $287 billion net worth, Elon Musk is now almost $100 billion richer
than Jeff Bezos who as of now is $196 billion worth. Musk is also $184
billion ahead of Warren Buffet who is currently the 10th richest person in
the world. Musk is also $150 billion ahead of Bill Gates who is the
4th richest.
The net worth of Musk has surpassed the market cap of the world’s
2nd largest automaker Toyota which is valued at $283 billion.

3. Mukhya Mantri Teerth Yatra Yojna: Delhi
government's free pilgrimage scheme to be
resumed
The 'Mukhya Mantri Teerath Yatra Yojana' was launched by the
Delhi government in July 2018 to enable the senior citizens in the
state to undertake a pilgrimage to several religious places across
the country completely free of cost.
The scheme aims to benefit a total number of 1,100 Senior Citizens
from every legislative assembly constituency. There are a total
number of 70 legislative assembly constituencies in the state.
The travel period under the pilgrimage is 3 days and 2 nights. The
selected citizens are provided with insurance worth Rs 1 lakh. The
applicants are selected on the basis of a lottery draw.
Over 35000 senior citizens have undertaken religious pilgrimage
under the scheme.

4. Advanced sewage treatment plant
inaugurated in Varanasi
Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Uttar Pradesh on October
25, 2021, inaugurated a new state-of-the-art sewage treatment
plant of 10 MLD capacity in Varanasi. The plant aims to conserve
and rejuvenate the river Ganga.
As per the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the National Mission for Clean
Ganga (NMCG) has been ensuring that a wide network of sewage
treatment plants is set up to tap the flow of dirty water into the
Ganga River, so as to ensure the nirmalta (cleanliness) and aviralta
(easy flow) of the holy river.
The foundation stone of the sewage treatment plant in Varanasi
was laid by Prime Minister Modi on November 12, 2018.

5. Pegasus spyware case: SC constitutes a 3-
member expert committee to probe Pegasus
snooping allegations
The Supreme Court on October 27, 2021 ordered the
constitution of a three-member expert committee to
probe targeted surveillance of journalists, politicians using
Pegasus spyware.
The apex court said that there has been no specific denial
by Centre in the issue, thus it has no option but to accept
the submissions of petitioner prima facie and appoint the
independent expert committee.
The court has asked the expert committee to examine
the allegations thoroughly and place the report before
the court. The matter will be listed for hearing after 8
weeks.

7. Indian-Origin Anita Anand becomes
Canada’s new Defence Minister; Who is she?
Anita Anand, Indian-Origin Canadian politician, on October 26, 2021, was
announced to be the new Defence Minister of Canada.
The decision was taken in a cabinet reshuffle by Prime Minister Justin
Trudeau, a month after his liberal party returned to power in snap polls and

The 54-year old Anita Anand will replace a long time Defence Minister of

11. DA hike news: Dearness Allowance for
central govt employees hiked to 31 percent,
effective from July 2021
The dearness allowance for central government employees has been hiked
from 28 percent to 31 percent of the basic pay.
The 3 percent DA hike will be effective from July 1, 2021, informed the
Finance Ministry.
The Department of Expenditure clarified that the term 'basic pay' means the
pay drawn as per the 7th pay commission matrix.
The basic pay component does not include any other type of pay like
special pay.
The Department of Expenditure had released an office memorandum on
October 25, 2021, which stated, "Dearness Allowance payable to central
government employees shall be enhanced from the existing rate of 28
percent to 31 percent of the basic pay with effect from July 1, 2021."

12. Marriage permissible only between biological man
& woman: Centre to Delhi HC
The Centre in a submission to the Delhi High Court on October 25,
2021 stated that marriage is only permissible between "a biological
man and a biological woman" under the current law.
The Solicitor General Tushar Mehta in his submission argued that
‘spouse’ means either husband or wife and ‘marriage’ is a term
associated with heterosexual couples.
Mehta further said that there is a misconception regarding
the landmark Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India case, saying that
it merely decriminalises a consensual homosexual act and does not
talk about marriage.
A Delhi HC bench comprising Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice
Jyoti Singh was hearing the arguments on a batch of three petitions.
The bench has listed the matter for final hearing on November 30,
2021.

13. Men's Hockey Junior World Cup 2021 to take

The FIH Men's Hockey Junior World Cup 2021 is scheduled to
begin on November 24, 2021 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha without
any spectators.
Hockey India and FIH have decided to hold the tournament
without any spectators as a precaution against COVID-19.

14. Government notifies national framework for
traffic management of drones
As per the official statement on October 26, 2021, the Government
of India has put in place a traffic management system for the
Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
The step has been taken as the number of drones being used here

15. China successfully launches Shijian-21
satellite to test space debris
China successfully launched a new satellite named Shijian-21 on October
23, 2021, to test and verify space debris mitigation technologies.
The satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in
southwest China’s Sichuan Province. Launched aboard the Long March-3B
carrier rocket, satellite Shijian-21 is now successfully situated in the
Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.
Though there were no prior announcements, the launch of the Shijian-21
satellite was confirmed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology
Corporation (CASC) within an hour of the launch.
The Shijian-21 satellite will test and verify space debris mitigation
technologies. Except for the Y83 serial number of the satellite, other details
such as weight, final orbit, in-depth details on its functions are unknown
yet.

16. Rahul Dravid applies for post of Team India
head coach, VVS Laxman likely to be new
NCA head
Former India skipper Rahul Dravid applied for the position of head coach of
Team India on October 26, 2021. He is currently serving as the head of the
National Cricket Academy.
As per sources Dravid has applied for the position of Team India coach and
former Indian batsman VVS Laxman is the frontrunner in the race to takeover
as the head of the National Cricket Academy and talks are on for the same.

held talks with the former India captain on the sidelines of IPL 2021 final on
October 15, 2021. Dravid was reportedly always BCCI's preferred choice for

Ravi Shastri was in England for their test series. India had won the ODI series
