Existing Product
This product is based on only one game, it uses the
song light em up to accompany the clips, each clip is
no longer than 6 seconds, this is done so that it can
mix well with the music as the music is fast pace. No
effects or text are used in the product. Also the image
used to advertise the product shows all the assassins,
which is letting the audience know what's in the
product
Assassin’s creed Light em up

Fallout 4 tribute ad victoriam
This montage is more based on the story of the game, the
music used is called sharks don’t sleep, what's different
this song is that there's no dialog so that the characters in
the game can be hired. The music is also very dramatic
which can make the audience feel mixed emotions, non of
them bad. The image used to advertise the product is dark
and only shows the characters that are in the montage,
the dark tone of the image shows that they are quite and
evil group.
Existing Product
Skyrim My demon's
This product is based on one game. Its mainly just a montage
killings within the game. There's no story to it, and there has been
no added effects. The type of music used in the product is dramatic,
which is appropriate for the clips as having pop music behind
people being killed would look out of place. The poster shown to
advertise only shows the main character overlooking the land, this
lets the audience know that the montage is based on something big
which will attract people to watch the montage
Existing Product
A kind of magic was made in the 80s by a band
called queen, it is similar to my product because
it’s a video with music backing it up, accept with
this product the main focus is with the music
not the clips, so its more like the clips back up
the music. The advertisement poster lets the
audience that this is quite a wacky and fun song,
because of its weird style and colour.
A kind of magic
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
– The clips used for the montages are mostly violent. It shows people
getting shot, stabbed and beaten, which creates a dramatic feel to
the montage, it also appeals to a certain target audience, and this
is seen in most of the products.
– There's no real story to any of them, its just random clips paced to
fit with the music. This will keep the audience watching as they
don’t know what's coming next, This is the case with all the
products that I researched.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
– Each clip I use will be no longer than 6 seconds to make the
montage more dramatic. I want to make the montage dramatic
because that’s usually what most montages do because it’s the
most interesting genre for montages.
– The type of music I will use will be dramatic. To help create a
dramatic feel to the montage. Also dramatic music usually have a
better beat than pop music making them easier to mix with clips
when editing.

Salvador (Borderlands) because of his charisma and talent in combat.
• What type of music should be used in a gaming montage?
Rock, because it will have a heavy beat to it.
• Would you like text within the montage?
No, I think that would ruin the atmosphere of the montage.
• Would you like dialog to be in the montage?
No, like the text I believe that would ruin the montage.
• Would you like the main theme of the montage to be violent?
Yes, violence in my opinion is the most entertaining theme because it
would be boring if people where just talking.
Interview 1
• Observation: The person I interviewed wanted to see
violence backed up by rock music, but with no text and no
dialog.
• What this says about my audience: This tells me that my
audience likes to see violence in montages, and only wants
to see the core footage of the montage, meaning no dialog
or text.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: In my
montage the main theme of it will be violence. And I won’t
add text to the montage but I will be add dialog as I believe
it makes the makes the montage more dramatic to watch,
with the write type of dialog.

Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
15-20 • To appeal to this audience I will use
memorable and favourite video game
characters from there time.
Gender
Male • I will make the montage mostly violent to
appeal to this audience.
Psychographic
Needs Driven • It will appeal to this audience because the
montage will be dramatic and intense.
Social Status
Middle class • Most of the games I’m using don’t talk
about how people are better if there in a
higher class
Research Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss
the strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• This was helpful as it lets me see what type of effects other editor do, it also lets me see
other editing techniques such as how long each clip is, and how to blend clips together to
make it look like there one whole clip. The research was quite difficult to do, as there are
not many video montages out there.
– Questionnaires
• The questionnaires help me see what the audience wants to see within my product, it also
lets me know what they don’t want to see. I can also see what kind of people would want
to watch my montage, this is good to know as I can edit the montage to there style, for
instance if they where a violent person I would make the montage violent.
– Interviews
• The interviews where very similar to the questionnaires, so I couldn’t really get any more
information about my audience. But the interviews did let me know some of my
audiences favourite characters, so that I could add them to the montage.
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
The response on my survey was good, and helpful. It let me see
what kind of people would like to watch my montage, and the
people I know who took the survey said it was a good way to get
ideas.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a
disadvantage
I distributed the survey by posting it on Facebook, I felt this was
the best way to do it because you get quick responses from
friends and family.
