1. Intial plans analysis script
So today I will be going through the first part of my project. Intial
plans. Ever since our last FMP I have been planning this one really.
Seen as this is my final year. I knew that I wanted to create
something more personal and that will benefit through other options
too. For instance working on a project that’s a lot more personal to
me will mean that I will be putting more towards it when looking at
fetivals to screen it at.
Since May last year. Around the time of finishing my first year FMP. I
started drafting out my own book. This was something that had been
on the cards for a very long time. I had planned it down to it’s last
detail in book format and has been something that I have wanted to
do since I was younger. I always to be as creative as possible and this
is the avenue that I value the most. Creating a whole story which if
possible and then turning it into a script. Adapting it into a film.
Something so creative that it would really benefit me when it came
to looking at the specifics of how I put characters through
development or even an story. Then in terms of a film. Looking at
how scripts are layed out and structured. These were important
aspects that meant that it didn’t even matter if the story was bad in
the first draft. After getting around 16 chapters done through a first
draft in September. I decided then that this would be something
which I would be most passionate about. However I knew that I
would need an alternative option because I could run into the risk of
going into detail on plot points that don’t matter to the scenes of
clips that’s being shown. Background and story is needed because it’s
a clip taken from towards the end of the film but I knew I couldn’t
ramble about plot points that don’t show relation to the final
product I am making. Filmaking is my passion, it’s something I want
to do. So I knew I was going with that route. However I wanted to
experiment with different strategies. For instance a video game or a
magazine. Whilst I will be making a magazine for this project anyway.

2. This will be based around the film itself. Will only feature horror as
that’s the genre in which I specilise in.
The whole point of this project is marketing. Something which I
wanted to illustrate in this powerpoint. What ways I want to sell my
film if I ever do make one. This just gives it a whole different
dimension which helps me write the book in the process. I shall be
advertising my film through the uses of posters, trailers, original
music created, DVD cover and magazine which advertise the film.
This concept was just about going through the process of what I am
making. Creating the mind maps helped me structure out how i
would create these products through intial thoughts. Such as plot,
why it’s being made and character development/design. Having
picked the book as my final idea. I made a more in-depth mind map
that went through the ideas of colour and other elements that are
going to build up the scene or be used as promotion.
I really wanted to strip back the project that I had got ahead and
think further than any ideas that I might already have. Coming up
with keywords that link into existing ideas that I already have, to see
if I could produce anything new. In a simailar sense to my pre-
production I want to see the early stages of creating a product. For
this part of the project it’s the raw paperwork of creating the
product. Having those ideas implemented into my mind and finally
knowing what I am going to do with my project. Through uses of shot
lists and storyboards. Though in this case it’s just done through
notes. Bullet pointing or anything that will help me cover ideas to
develop. As well as looking at the pros and cons of what I have got
planned so far. I think it’s important to notice your weaknesses
earlier in the stages of what you are creating. Rather than create
those worries in production.

3. Whilst I didn’t want to go into too much detail about my influences
as I want to leave that for contexutal I though I would go over some
artwork that has inspired the imagery of each picture when viewing
each shot or scene. I also looked at other influences. Though I have
been watching less films during this period because I want to avoid
inspiration. TV and film implant thoughts that stay with you well
because its satisfaction. It’s entertainment and there’s more chance
of retaining it. So I break down some sections that inspired me not
from a narrative point of view but how I view the world and the
characters that surround it. I also took a look at magazine infleunces
but I was more deliberate with the researching for this because I
don’t buy a lot of magazines. So especially in terms of layout. I
needed to look how these products sell so well and what makes each
one different. I also wanted to create mood boards. However due to
this still being early development. Colours are something I want to
focus much later on because they are more technical aspects to the
story. So in order to get to grips of how it will look on scene. I wanted
to look at more stuff in terms of props, costume and the location
that it is set in. It’s all based upon reflection. How will this infleunce
my product and what do the themes or style of images have in
common? One film i did go into great deal though is ‘Harry Potter
and the prisoner of azkban’. The one film that is praised the most
throughout the series which is no surprise due to the the artisic
direction that Cuoran takes. It’s here where I talk about a lot of
camera shots and colours that inspire me. Every film needs one
specific inspiration and you need to know what that is. Whilst also
staying original and bringing in something new.
Overall I think that I have gone through the basics and planned out
the small minor details in which I am seeing through the early stages
of creating and developing my products.
