This document provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress made through the first 7 units, what is now known, and how this has influenced the choice of final project. The student plans to create a magazine/fanzine focused on the works of Edgar Wright, as the fanzine projects were most successful. The films of Edgar Wright are personally loved and the student wants to explore them in more depth. Influences include similar fanzines that focus on a single product in detail. The goal is for audiences to look more closely at the themes across Wright's films. The tone of the fanzine will try to match the mix of serious and comedic tone of Hot Fuzz, which will be a primary focus.

your progress and achievements through the first 7 units of the qualification and what you
plan to create in your final project. Think about what you know now, and what it means to
Tell me in no more than20 words, what is your
FMP idea?
My FMP is going tobe a magazine/fanzinebased
aroundthe worksof Edgar Wright.
Why have youdecided to makeit? I havedecided tomake this as the
fanzine/magazine projects were the onesthat I
felt went more successful for me personally and
they were bothprojects I enjoyedand the subject
being Edgar Wright is somethingthatI personally
love andwould love to look into a lot more in
depth.
What aboutyourproject makesit importantto
you?
I think thatthe thingthatmakes thisproject
importanttome is the fact thatthe moviesthat I
am goingto be lookingat are films thatI
personally love to watch andI would like tolook
at more in-depthat the films and all of the hidden
nuancesthe Edgar Wright hides in the films and
the way thathe films and directs him films.
Outline someof the initial influences onyour
idea/work and somepotential research targets
(remember, research isn’t justa paperbased
activity)?
Someof the initial influences for my fanzine were
some of the fanzines thatI had seen onIssuuthat
liked to focus onone specific productand they
look at everythingaboutthe productin lots of
detail and these fanzines can thenlink to the
productnext in line.
What effect do youwant to haveon your
audience when they see yourproject?
I want the audience to startto look more at the
films that I will be talking about as well as the
other films that they might watch themselvesand
see if there are themes thatmake themselvesinto
other films.
Describe the tone/mood/styleofyourproject
[which productiontechniques/characteristicsare
youemploying?
I think thatbecause I’mgoing to be focusing on
Hot Fuzzfor the primary part of my fanzine I think
thatI will try to set the tone of the fanzine similar
to the toneof the film with it being a mix of
seriousand then somemore light hearted
comedy.
Why have youdecided to makeyour project in
this style?
I havedecided todo my project in this styleas the
main thingI want to dowith my fanzine is make it
a paper representationof the film with my
magazine hopefully havinga bit more insight.
