Path Toward Success
Assignment Title: Path Toward Success Word Count: 2,039 The era of the 21st century brings many
changes in the lifestyle. Immense range of new and innovative ways of living take part in everyday
operations, which lead to increased expectations and experiences from the people, especially in
hospitality sector. It is important for the companies to adopt the modernizations in order to stay
ahead in the business. Today people seek for luxury, high value and comfort. If these needs are not
met, the consumers will loose the interest in spending time and money for the organization and opt
for an alternative, thus the service of a competitor. As people travel more not only for the business,
but also for vacation purposes, for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Li–Jen & Lockwood (2006) suggest that listening and recognizing of employees' preferences
and wants is an important practice for the employee retention. In addition, attention directed towards
developing the skills and knowledge, as well as adding more and different tasks, contribute to the
expectations of the people in workplace. Baruch (2004) advocates that for an individual having the
element of multi–options at the disposal, promotes a successful career path. The discussed essentials
were mainly autonomy, independence, and a healthy balance between life and work. In addition,
HayGroup (2001, as cited in Bharwani & Butt, 2012) state that tangible rewards largely
contribute towards the employee engagement. If the employer is able to offer recognition in terms of
salary or bonuses, people are more likely to be attracted to stay. It is further suggested that
leadership and the way in which it is presented to the employee, plays an important role in
maintaining the employee's loyalty. Professional development and continuous learning is an element
that contributes to the employee satisfaction. Littlejohn & Watson (2004) explain that the
scheme of training and development maintain and broaden the knowledge of the individual upon
which, the qualities of professional performance will keep on flourishing. By implementing the

Boyne also wrote about the benefits of the process of hypnosis with what he termed "Phenomena of
Trance". He identified six strategies for psychological healing which may occur through the
hypnotic process with much more speed and efficiency than some traditional psychotherapies. They
are as follows: 1. The development and expression of deductive processing of though and imagery.
2. The ability to stimulate memory recall and simultaneously revive attached feeling content. 3. An
enhanced capacity to quickly develop an emotionalized relationship (rapport) with the helping

Analysis Of In The Shadow Of The Banyan
1.5 to 3 million cambodians died in the Cambodian Genocide. These tragic events are shown in In
the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Ratner. In this novel the reader is in the perspective of a
seven–year–old princess, Raami, as she lived through the genocide. As the Khmer Rouge a heartless
group destroyed Cambodia. The group Dehumanized people, took everything from it's citizens, and
split up families. As the Khmer Rouge began their surge to make a "single–class society", they
chose to strip the citizens of every item they owned and all personal property they had. This is
shown when the family is at their country house called Mango Corner. "three Khmer Rouge soldiers
burst into the house, waving their guns, shooting, and shouting , GET OUT! GET OUT!"(Ratner
51). Kicking the family out for no specific reason but to disrupt the family. Not even making it clear
where they really could go. They were lost like a stranded dog without a home. This is seen once
more moments later, "Then his eyes caught the glint of Big Uncles watch flashing in the sunlight.
An omega Constellation...Off! The boy shouted. Big Uncle made no move. TAKE IT OFF! The boy
thundered. Finally Big Uncle lowered his arms, took the watch off his wrist, and handed it to him."
(Ratner 52). The soldier had no reason for taking the watch from Big Uncle besides the fact that he
could. This was shown again when Raami was at Ksach, Kratie Province when the new leaders
came in, "We could no longer cook and eat at home. If

Public Health Systems around the World
Peoples health is very different in other sides of the world. The health problems are different and the
health care systems are various. People living in separate countries are in quite different position
depending on where they live: in rich or in poor country, in developed or developing country. In this
task I will write a presentation of heath care systems in the three different countries: Finland, United
Kingdom and Ethiopia. United Kingdom represents a developed country and a Ethiopia is
developing country. Finland is a country in northern Europe. The population in Finland was 5,4

In The Shadow Of The Banyan Character Analysis
"To keep you is no gain, to kill you is no loss." In the novel In the Shadow of the Banyan, written by
Vaddey Ratner, 7–year–old Raami's world begins to collapse when the Khmer Rouge take order in
her home of Cambodia. Over the course of the story Raami's maturity grows, she becomes selfless
given the events and circumstances she encounters, and learns to comprehend the consequences of
her actions. First of all, the main character, Raami, changes from a mischievous, jealous 7–year–old
to a mature adolescent who had to grow up fast given the cruel reality she faced when the Khmer
Rouge took power. For example, in the very beginning of the novel we learn that Raami has polio, a
crippling and potentially deadly disease, and has to wear a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By the time Raami, Mama, and Radana made it to Stung Kae where they will life like peasants,
Rammi comes to realization that Radana isn't at fault for being just like Mama and Raami should
love her because she is her one and only sister who needs to be protected from the harsh reality of
the revolution, "Still, I thought I had the antidote for it – I'd love my sister more than I had ever
loved her. I would no longer allow myself to be jealous that she was perfect and I was marred by
polio. I would love her completely, selflessly." (Ratner, 204). This quote shows how Raami is able to
overcome her jealousy over Radana's resemblance to their mother and Raami has learned that right
now, under the command of the revolution, the family needs to protect one another in order to
survive. Furthermore, certain events and circumstances affect how Raami grows as a person
throughout the novel. While Raami, Radana and Mama were staying in the town of Stung Kae,
Radana becomes ill with malaria. The night of Radana's death all Radana wanted was some of the
food that Raami had, "...she was my little sister; who now, though still immune to despair and
lacking any real sense of herself, seemed driven by the same physical need as mine– to feed her
hunger, to stay alive." (Ratner, 209). This quote shows how Raami realizes that no matter how
young someone is during this revolutionary time, everyone is fighting for their lives and the need to
live. A little

Analysis Of Shadow Of The Banyan
In the book Shadow of the Banyan, it follows the main characters of the story through the revolution
in cambodia that takes place after the Vietnam war. During the revolution, soldiers force Cambodian
people from their homes and out of their towns and tells them to leave because Americans are going
to bomb. In the book this happens to the main character Rammi and her family. As you read Shadow
of the bayan the characters grow and adapt to what their lives have become. Rammi is seven in the
beginning of the book and is the main character and also the narrator you see the story through
Rammis eyes. In the first chapter of the story Rammi is living a pretty normal sheltered life in her

"Among them was the old man who had thrown himself to the ground weeping, and as he shuffled
past, moving along with the throng toward the school buildings, I noticed a bamboo flute tucked in
the kroma around his waist. When he caught sight of the stupa and the surroundings cheddys, he let
out another despairing sob. Poor man mr. virlak said, shaking his head. His wife suffered an asthma
attack and died on the journey."(P.G 89,90).More and more death is entering Rammis life and she
cannot escape it as it slowly becomes a permanent fear of death and loss of loved ones. This
develops her as a character because she witnessed others and their losses quite frequently. For
example it says in chapter 12 (P.G 123) "It happened in half a breath. One moment he was alive and
the next still, his silhouette faint on the straw mat, more like an incomplete thought a tracery, than an
actual person. It seemed no one expected him to die. It was just fever, everyone said. He should've
gotten over it. But i'd known since that day Mr. virak arrived at the temple and I first laid eyes on the
delicate form beneath the folds of his wife's kroma, like a partially unwrapped parcel their baby was
more spirit than flesh." .Rammi starts thinking about how the baby was not ready for death and that
it was too soon. This shows the character development from the beginning of the story by making
Rammi less sensitive to death . As they book continues Rammi, Mama and Radana are all

Comparing Hinduism And Buddhism In Siddhartha By Hermann...
In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, many similarities and differences are displayed between
Hinduism and Buddhism. Siddhartha, a Buddhist, seeks to find find complete peace within himself,
also known as enlightenment. Siddhartha's father who is a Brahmin, is opposed to his son leaving
the family and finding his own path to the ultimate goal of Nirvana. Throughout the novel,
Hinduism and Buddhism are the same because both religions seek complete peace, called
enlightenment, and they both have an emphasis on meditation, however, Hinduism believes in the
caste system while Buddhism does not. A fundamental practice in Buddhism and Hinduism is to find
enlightenment, or complete peace. Though Hinduism does not believe you can accomplish this in
one lifetime, it is the same concept. Siddhartha looks to find this by blazing his own path and
independently practice Buddhism to achieve this goal. In the quote, "It has come to you in the
course of your own search, on your own path, through thoughts, through meditation, through
realizations, through enlightenment.", it is shown that Siddhartha believes in order to achieve this
ultimate state, you have to do it on your own, which is why he does not follow the Buddha as
Gotama did (Hesse #). In Hinduism, there is something called, "The 14 Guṇasthānas", which are the
14 phases the soul goes through in order to reach the final destination of moksha. The three main
stages of this philosophy are: Belief, minor vows, and right conduct,

Summary: In The Shadow Of The Banyan
In the novel, In the Shadow of the Banyan, Raami and other children were forced to take on
responsibilities when their parents had no other choice. The combination of a child's capability and a
profound sense of strength, influences children. There were several times in the novel where Raami
was given responsibility. One such instance was when her mother told her to watch her sister while
she went to get food for them "Let your sister sleep when she's finished eating. Keep an eye on her.
Don't let her out of your sight" (Ratner, p.194). Raami, being a child, didn't think of what would
happen by leaving her sister to alone. The net was left open and mosquitoes bit her sister giving her
malaria, ultimately killing her. In many of the situations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One means of approaching this phenomenon is the concept of resilience" (Edmond, p.64). The death
of her father, sister and separation from her uncle are many traumatic experiences that teach Raami
how to build the resilience needed to survive. Another passage in the book when Raami was told to
look after her ill grandmother, "I settled into my role as caretaker, doing my best to look after
Grandmother Queen, striving always to do more than I could but achieving only just enough to get
by, to keep us going for another day. Still, I had my routine and tasks, which ironically enough, gave
me a sense of purpose, gave some measure of structure to an existence that was otherwise hanging
by a thread" (Ratner, p.263). Raami is experiencing many different emotions that she feels it is
difficult to express. From crisis to crisis Rami perseveres. As the article mentions it isn't only in the
child where the resilience lies but the environment that the child lives (p.64). The environment
Rammi experienced was catastrophic. Having learned from the past she understood that it is
necessary to become accustomed to the way of

Immigration Admission Of Japan And Singapore
Poli 328 Paper HUI TING LI 44785146 Apr.09.2015 Immigration admission of Japan and
Singapore Concerning Singapore and Japan, both countries are developed. But their immigration
admissions are different, which may result in different perceptions and impacts. According to a
report from The Economist Intelligence Unit, regarding of democracy countries ranking list in 2012,
Japan had a high score 8.08, in the 20th position of 167 countries. Singapore ranked at number 75.

Singapore's GDP was $78,762 per capita, and Japan had $36,208 per capita.(World Economic
Outlook Database, 2014, ) Both countries obtain high democracy and economy level, but their net
migration rates are totally different. The World Factbook found out that Singapore permits around

Travel Market
1. The Travel Market can be segmented into 3 segments: Luxury travellers, Adventurers and Budget
travellers. These segments are identified by demographics like age and income, psychological
factors like personality, and benefits sought like needs and product features.
Luxury travellers are usually older or middle–aged consumers who are already financially
prosperous and look for relaxation and rejuvenation from their stressful positions. They can also be
retirees. Luxury travellers will be willing to pay more for value, quality and service, and they look
for quality relaxation and experience when looking for a place to reside while travelling. Luxury

For example the Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel in Luang Prabang would offer visitors a cultural
and scenic experience of the Mekong River and hills of Laos, an experience that will not be found in
any other hotels. The luxury hotels offer different scenic views and quality service, hence these
hotels compete via product differentiation. There are less firms and hence more competition, but it
also means that there will be a chance of getting a large market share should Banyan tree decide to
invest in it.
In terms of cost, marketing Banyan Tree's products too all three different segments of consumers
will take roughly the same costs. These will include advertising costs on websites, newspapers and
tie–ups with travelling agencies.
In terms of compatibility, reaching out to the budget travellers will be most costly as brand new
budget hotels will have to be built, which requires a large amount of capital. Marketing Banyan Tree
Holding's hotels and services to the budget travellers will also not be effective as the product
features of Banyan tree's products are incompatible with the features these consumers are looking
for. Reaching out to luxury travellers and adventurers will be easier as they will already be receptive
to the products offered by Banyan Tree.
In conclusion, Banyan Tree Holdings should focus on the Luxury Travellers market segment as they

Vrin Analysis of Banyan Tree
After applying the VRIN criteria to the resources given in the case, 3 key intangible resources have
been identified in helping Banyan Tree (BT) achieve strategic competitiveness and above–average
returns. The analysis is summarized in the below table. Resources | Valuable? | Rare? | Inimitable? |
Non–substitutable? | 1. Brand | Yes – BT has successfully tapped into its target market segment
because of its strategic brand positioning and image. | Yes – The only resort targeting the luxury
premium market then, its differentiating "Banyan Tree experience" leads consumers to choose BT

Strategic brand management was crucial to associate BT with the appropriate qualities that its target
market would respond positively to. Steps undertaken by its founders included careful choosing of
the name "Banyan Tree", a tree with its origins rooted in Asia and whose name evoked a calming
sense of nature, as well as the tagline "Sanctuary for the Senses", which implied that the resort was a
safe haven away from the stresses of modern life.
Management then built the brand around public relations and direct marketing programmes to
connect with consumers emotionally rather than just spend advertising dollars on getting their name
out. BT gained exposure through editorial coverage and photo shoots to showcase the "holistic
Banyan Tree experience". The photographs and collateral materials published in target publications
were always evocative, refined and low–key, reaching out to couples attracted to the qualities of
romance, privacy and rejuvenation conveyed. The BT logo would be prominently displayed to
associate those qualities with the BT brand. Its rate of expansion was also limited to make existing
resorts seem more exclusive and private, since consumers had to be turned away given the resorts'
high occupancy rates. Management then applied for and won a series of prestigious awards and
accolades given by the travel industry and various

Human Condition Research Paper
Condition "The Self cannot be pierced or burned, made wet or dry. It is everlasting and infinite,
standing on the motionless foundations of eternity. The Self is unmanifested, beyond all thought,
beyond all change. Knowing this, you should not grieve" (Gita 2:24–25). The human condition is
described as ignorance of identity in that humans do not understand their divine nature. An example
was given in terms of the seeds of the banyan tree. The seeds of the tree can be seen but within the
seeds nothing can be seen yet the banyan tree comes from this nothingness. It is the same in terms of
people. People cannot perceive the divinity within themselves yet it is from this divinity that
everything exists. This is known as Maya. It is stated that "one believes he is the slayer, another
believes he is the slain. Both are ignorant; there is neither slayer nor slain. You were never born; you
will never die. You have never changed; you can never change. Unborn, eternal, immutable,
immemorial, you do not die when the body dies. Realizing that which is indestructible, eternal,
unborn, and unchanging, how can you slay or cause another to slay" (Gita 2:19–20). Essentially,
people align themselves with worldly identities instead of realizing they are the universe and the
universe is them. Instead of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

She is forced to leave her childhood behind with the regime of the Khmer Rouge. As a Cambodian

Slave Culture And The Slave Trade
Fashion, cotton, tourism, and textiles have all become so ingrained in Western culture that it is
difficult to imagine these commodities coming from anywhere else. Sugar production and the
distribution of it in European countries, however, came out of the slave trade. As a means to create a
common culture among a people ethnically different, African slaves in the United States re–engaged
in traditional musical styles and created some of their own in the process. In Europe, fashion was
not something to be concerned with in the middle class and below, but the rise in the demand of
Indian cotton textiles made the wearing of cottons like chintz to be accessible to the less wealthy.
Because the demand for coal grew and the ability to ship required the development of the steamship,
passenger lines, and what one would now call tourism, became another form of commodity chain.
Commodity chains have inspired and fostered the development of cultural production in both the
West and East. The slave trade is one such commodity chain that fostered the rise of a common
culture for the African slaves in the American South. However, before this could occur, the slave
trade had to have an effect on the architecture of ships in Europe in order for the slave trade to
function at all. The demand for people as a commodity required a vessel that would be optimized for
the task of transporting hundreds of bodies, plus the weight of the crew of this vessel, while also
having to account that these

The Influence Of Chicken Katsu In Hawaiian Culture
Food is a enormous aspect of hawaiian culture. Due to the influences of incoming voyagers bringing
new and more agricultural diversity Hawaiian foods shifted and changed. Resulting in the increasing
agriculture there was a higher demand from plantation workers. Plate lunch then became an
important aspect of hawaiian culture providing a quick easy lunch for plantation workers and many
others. Plate lunch is still a very well known and loved dish today in Hawaii and is slowly making
its way to the mainland. More specifically chicken katsu is usually a favorable option on a common
plate lunch. Chicken katsu which originated in Japan has changed and influenced plate lunch and
hawaiian culture. Chicken katsu is a delicious Japanese dish invented in 1899. Katsu is short for
katsuretsu the Japanese transliteration for cutlet. It consists of breaded, deep fried, chicken cutlet a
couple centimeters thick. In Japan it is served with a tonkatsu sauce, shredded cabbage, rice and/or
miso soup. It is also commonly served with rice and a silky curry. In a typical Hawaiian plate lunch
chicken katsu is served with a scoop of macaroni salad and rice. ... Show more content on

Describe The Relationship Between The Empire And The...
How are religion and culture connected? Religion and culture are super important in any society and
have major influences on one another. Religions have a huge impact on all cultures and even
societies. It is basically an "outline" of how we should behave in a society and culture. These
"guidelines" are how you should be living your day to day lives. The Maurya and Gupta empire, at
one time had a very honored leader, Asoka. Have you ever even thought about how much Asoka
actually did for the Indian empire? He grew and united his empire through pacifism. The empire
stopped their expansion, Mauryan people were very strong, but stopped conquering others for area.
They focused on staying peaceful and uniting together.
Asoka had a completely different plan on how he ran his empire. He was the most honored emperor
Maurya ever had. He went from a warrior to a worshipper of Buddhism, this changed everything
this empire had ever known. He rejected all violence, and then ruled my "moral example". He
respected all life, even animals. He stopped eating meat and even limited the sacrifices of animals.

Basic Issues Of Philosophy : Ethics
Basic Issues In Philosophy: Ethics As rational beings we have power to choose whether to act on
our desires. Will (desire) leads to choice. Choice leads to action. Action repeated becomes habit.
Sartre believed that "existence precedes essence(Sartre 500)". Basically meaning we exist first and
then we do things that define ourselves and our lives in whatever way we choose and this
determines our essence, and what it means to be a human being. If existence really does precede
essence, man is responsible for what he is. Aristotle believes as rational beings we have power to
choose whether to act on our desires. Similar to Aristotle 's beliefs, Kant believes that one should act
rationally will for your action to become a universal mind, keeping in mind, "What is everyone did
it?" Mill believes "To do as one would be done by and to love one 's neighbor as oneself, constitute
the idea perfection of utilitarian morality(Mill)." Knowing what I know from these philosophers
allows me to analyze my beliefs in comparison to theirs. One of my first ethical values is that you
must treat others the way you want to be treated. I believe this is important regardless of the
circumstances because it creates a general sense of doing good and a lot of times these traits are
passed on to other people. Because everyone has their own view on what they would want done to
them, you must look at the general consensus of what is right and what is wrong. Mill believes,

Banyan Tree’S Success Has Been A Great Case For Entrepreneurs
Banyan Tree's success has been a great case for entrepreneurs in the hospitality industry to study.
With the genius ideas that had been put successfully into practices by Banyan Tree CEO Ho Kwon

Another crucial strategy that the Banyan Tree adopted were to set up differentiations. In hospitality,

the Haitian–American community, however, Voodoo exists side by side with Christian faiths.
Jacobson goes on to explain that "many Haitians see no contradiction in calling themselves

religious practices combine the ancient rituals of African–based cultures with Western–based faith

Queen Kapiolani In Hawaii
Queen Kapiolani was a gentle queen whose main concern was the people of Hawaii. She was
determined to make sure the people of Hawaii were taken care of and that they will one day get their
homes and justice back. She took every opportunity she could take to ensure the security of her
people. She did everything she could in her power to make a better future for her people. Her and
her husband were determined to not give the Hawaiian Kingdom to the United States. Kapiolani was
born on December 31, 1834 in Hilo on Hawaiʻi Island to High Chief Kuhio Kalanianaʻole of Hilo
and High Chiefess Kinoiki Kekaulike of Kauaʻi, the daughter of King Kaumualiʻi, the last King of
an independent Kauaʻi before its amicable cession to Kamehameha the Great. Queen ... Show more

While she was Queen of Hawaii she often traveled throughout the islands to make sure her people
were receiving everything they needed. She and her husband both believed that the Hawaiian
government should consist of Hawaiian people not white people. Queen Kapiolani had her
coronation on February 12, 1883 at the 'Iolani Palace. Kalakaua hoped that once day in the future
the foreign people leave and the Hawaiian people will be left in peace. Kapiolani did everything she
could in her power to help her people. She established the, now called, Kapiolani Medical Center for
Women and Children. This hospital was dedicated to help the Hawaiian mothers and babies. She
dedicated her time and energy into this hospital. She even became the first Queen to visit the White
House, hooping to bring attention to Hawaii. Queen Kapiolani was so determined that she decided
she would never speak English and only speak Hawaiian. Princess Liliuokalani became her
interpreter. King Kalakaua loved Queen Kapiolani very much. To show his love for her, he named a
500 acre park after her. Now, the park consists Diamond Head and Honolulu Zoo. The park is also
home to many very old banyan trees, and the Kapiolani

The Banyan Tree: Branding the Intangible
The Banyan Tree: branding the intangible
Jochen Wirtz
Jochen Wirtz is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Academic Director of the UCLA – NUS
Executive MBA Program at the National University of Singapore, Singapore.
Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts had become a leading player in the luxury resort and spa market in
Asia. As part of its growth strategy, Banyan Tree had launched new brands and brand extensions that
included resorts, spas, residences, destination club memberships, retail outlets, and even museum
shops. Now, the company was preparing to aggressively grow its global footprint in the Americas,
Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East while preserving its distinctive Asian identity and strong
brand image of Banyan Tree. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The closing of a factory in Thailand one year after its opening – because it lost out to other low–cost
producers in Indonesia – was the last straw for Ho, who then realized that a low–cost strategy was
not only difficult to follow but would also lead nowhere. Determined to craft out something
proprietary that would allow the company to become a price maker rather than a price taker, Ho
decided that building a strong brand was the only way for him to maintain a sustainable competitive
advantage. The idea of entering the luxury resorts market was inspired by the gap in the hotel
industry that giant chains such as the Hilton and Shangri–La could not fill. There existed a market
segment that wanted private and intimate accommodation without the expectation of glitzy chain
hotels. This was fueled by the sharp price gap between the luxurious Aman Resorts and other resorts
in the luxury resorts market. For example, the Amanpuri in Thailand, one of Aman's resorts, charged
in 2004 a rack rate for its villas ranging from US$650 to over US$7,000 a night, whereas the prices
of other luxury resorts, such as the Shangri–La Hotel and Phuket Arcadia Beach Resort by Hilton in
Thailand were priced below US$350. Noticing the big difference in prices between Aman Resorts
and the other resorts in the luxury resorts market, Ho saw potential for offering an innovative niche
product that could also bridge the price gap in this market.

  • 11. Analysis Of In The Shadow Of The Banyan 1.5 to 3 million cambodians died in the Cambodian Genocide. These tragic events are shown in In the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Ratner. In this novel the reader is in the perspective of a seven–year–old princess, Raami, as she lived through the genocide. As the Khmer Rouge a heartless group destroyed Cambodia. The group Dehumanized people, took everything from it's citizens, and split up families. As the Khmer Rouge began their surge to make a "single–class society", they chose to strip the citizens of every item they owned and all personal property they had. This is shown when the family is at their country house called Mango Corner. "three Khmer Rouge soldiers burst into the house, waving their guns, shooting, and shouting , GET OUT! GET OUT!"(Ratner 51). Kicking the family out for no specific reason but to disrupt the family. Not even making it clear where they really could go. They were lost like a stranded dog without a home. This is seen once more moments later, "Then his eyes caught the glint of Big Uncles watch flashing in the sunlight. An omega Constellation...Off! The boy shouted. Big Uncle made no move. TAKE IT OFF! The boy thundered. Finally Big Uncle lowered his arms, took the watch off his wrist, and handed it to him." (Ratner 52). The soldier had no reason for taking the watch from Big Uncle besides the fact that he could. This was shown again when Raami was at Ksach, Kratie Province when the new leaders came in, "We could no longer cook and eat at home. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People living in separate countries are in quite different position depending on where they live: in rich or in poor country, in developed or developing country. In this task I will write a presentation of heath care systems in the three different countries: Finland, United Kingdom and Ethiopia. United Kingdom represents a developed country and a Ethiopia is developing country. Finland is a country in northern Europe. Organizations have played an important role in health promotion and supporting citizens own role to promote their health. (Sosiaali– ja terveysministeriö 2013.) All permanent residents in Finland have public helth insurance. People in Finland can choose to use private medical centres, doctors or other nursing professional services. Public health insurance replaces some patients' self–purchased health care costs, but the deductibles are quite high, and everybody aren't able to use them. (Sitra reports 2009). In the novel In the Shadow of the Banyan, written by Vaddey Ratner, 7–year–old Raami's world begins to collapse when the Khmer Rouge take order in her home of Cambodia. Over the course of the story Raami's maturity grows, she becomes selfless given the events and circumstances she encounters, and learns to comprehend the consequences of her actions. First of all, the main character, Raami, changes from a mischievous, jealous 7–year–old to a mature adolescent who had to grow up fast given the cruel reality she faced when the Khmer Rouge took power. For example, in the very beginning of the novel we learn that Raami has polio, a crippling and potentially deadly disease, and has to wear a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would no longer allow myself to be jealous that she was perfect and I was marred by polio. I would love her completely, selflessly." (Ratner, 204). This quote shows how Raami is able to overcome her jealousy over Radana's resemblance to their mother and Raami has learned that right now, under the command of the revolution, the family needs to protect one another in order to survive. Furthermore, certain events and circumstances affect how Raami grows as a person throughout the novel. While Raami, Radana and Mama were staying in the town of Stung Kae, Radana becomes ill with malaria. The night of Radana's death all Radana wanted was some of the food that Raami had, "...she was my little sister; who now, though still immune to despair and lacking any real sense of herself, seemed driven by the same physical need as mine– to feed her hunger, to stay alive." (Ratner, 209). This quote shows how Raami realizes that no matter how young someone is during this revolutionary time, everyone is fighting for their lives and the need to live. A little ... His wife suffered an asthma attack and died on the journey."(P.G 89,90).More and more death is entering Rammis life and she cannot escape it as it slowly becomes a permanent fear of death and loss of loved ones. This develops her as a character because she witnessed others and their losses quite frequently. For example it says in chapter 12 (P.G 123) "It happened in half a breath. One moment he was alive and the next still, his silhouette faint on the straw mat, more like an incomplete thought a tracery, than an actual person. It seemed no one expected him to die. It was just fever, everyone said. He should've gotten over it. But i'd known since that day Mr. virak arrived at the temple and I first laid eyes on the delicate form beneath the folds of his wife's kroma, like a partially unwrapped parcel their baby was more spirit than flesh." .Rammi starts thinking about how the baby was not ready for death and that it was too soon. • 19. Comparing Hinduism And Buddhism In Siddhartha By Hermann... In the book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse, many similarities and differences are displayed between Hinduism and Buddhism. Siddhartha, a Buddhist, seeks to find find complete peace within himself, also known as enlightenment. Siddhartha's father who is a Brahmin, is opposed to his son leaving the family and finding his own path to the ultimate goal of Nirvana. Throughout the novel, Hinduism and Buddhism are the same because both religions seek complete peace, called enlightenment, and they both have an emphasis on meditation, however, Hinduism believes in the caste system while Buddhism does not. A fundamental practice in Buddhism and Hinduism is to find enlightenment, or complete peace. Though Hinduism does not believe you can accomplish this in one lifetime, it is the same concept. Siddhartha looks to find this by blazing his own path and independently practice Buddhism to achieve this goal. In the quote, "It has come to you in the course of your own search, on your own path, through thoughts, through meditation, through realizations, through enlightenment.", it is shown that Siddhartha believes in order to achieve this ultimate state, you have to do it on your own, which is why he does not follow the Buddha as Gotama did (Hesse #). In Hinduism, there is something called, "The 14 Guṇasthānas", which are the 14 phases the soul goes through in order to reach the final destination of moksha. The three main stages of this philosophy are: Belief, minor vows, and right conduct, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Still, I had my routine and tasks, which ironically enough, gave me a sense of purpose, gave some measure of structure to an existence that was otherwise hanging by a thread" (Ratner, p.263). Raami is experiencing many different emotions that she feels it is difficult to express. From crisis to crisis Rami perseveres. There are less firms and hence more competition, but it also means that there will be a chance of getting a large market share should Banyan tree decide to invest in it. In terms of cost, marketing Banyan Tree's products too all three different segments of consumers will take roughly the same costs. These will include advertising costs on websites, newspapers and tie–ups with travelling agencies. In terms of compatibility, reaching out to the budget travellers will be most costly as brand new budget hotels will have to be built, which requires a large amount of capital. Marketing Banyan Tree Holding's hotels and services to the budget travellers will also not be effective as the product features of Banyan tree's products are incompatible with the features these consumers are looking for. Steps undertaken by its founders included careful choosing of the name "Banyan Tree", a tree with its origins rooted in Asia and whose name evoked a calming sense of nature, as well as the tagline "Sanctuary for the Senses", which implied that the resort was a safe haven away from the stresses of modern life. Management then built the brand around public relations and direct marketing programmes to connect with consumers emotionally rather than just spend advertising dollars on getting their name out. BT gained exposure through editorial coverage and photo shoots to showcase the "holistic Banyan Tree experience". The photographs and collateral materials published in target publications were always evocative, refined and low–key, reaching out to couples attracted to the qualities of romance, privacy and rejuvenation conveyed. The BT logo would be prominently displayed to associate those qualities with the BT brand. The Self is unmanifested, beyond all thought, beyond all change. Knowing this, you should not grieve" (Gita 2:24–25). The human condition is described as ignorance of identity in that humans do not understand their divine nature. An example was given in terms of the seeds of the banyan tree. The seeds of the tree can be seen but within the seeds nothing can be seen yet the banyan tree comes from this nothingness. It is the same in terms of people. People cannot perceive the divinity within themselves yet it is from this divinity that everything exists. This is known as Maya. It is stated that "one believes he is the slayer, another believes he is the slain. Both are ignorant; there is neither slayer nor slain. You were never born; you will never die. You have never changed; you can never change. Unborn, eternal, immutable, immemorial, you do not die when the body dies. • 46. Slave Culture And The Slave Trade Fashion, cotton, tourism, and textiles have all become so ingrained in Western culture that it is difficult to imagine these commodities coming from anywhere else. Sugar production and the distribution of it in European countries, however, came out of the slave trade. As a means to create a common culture among a people ethnically different, African slaves in the United States re–engaged in traditional musical styles and created some of their own in the process. In Europe, fashion was not something to be concerned with in the middle class and below, but the rise in the demand of Indian cotton textiles made the wearing of cottons like chintz to be accessible to the less wealthy. Because the demand for coal grew and the ability to ship required the development of the steamship, passenger lines, and what one would now call tourism, became another form of commodity chain. Commodity chains have inspired and fostered the development of cultural production in both the West and East. The slave trade is one such commodity chain that fostered the rise of a common culture for the African slaves in the American South. However, before this could occur, the slave trade had to have an effect on the architecture of ships in Europe in order for the slave trade to function at all. The demand for people as a commodity required a vessel that would be optimized for the task of transporting hundreds of bodies, plus the weight of the crew of this vessel, while also having to account that these ... Such pro–environmental business practices also generated a lot of positive publicity and won the company several awards, and these not only helped increase the brand awareness of Banyan Tree but also generated much interest among potential customers. At the same time, the company got the support of various public interest groups, such as environmentalists, and this saved the company from having to deal with any potential trouble that might have arisen from their development of the natural habitats of various flora and fauna for business purposes. 2. • 65. Basic Issues Of Philosophy : Ethics Basic Issues In Philosophy: Ethics As rational beings we have power to choose whether to act on our desires. Will (desire) leads to choice. Choice leads to action. Action repeated becomes habit. Sartre believed that "existence precedes essence(Sartre 500)". Basically meaning we exist first and then we do things that define ourselves and our lives in whatever way we choose and this determines our essence, and what it means to be a human being. If existence really does precede essence, man is responsible for what he is. Aristotle believes as rational beings we have power to choose whether to act on our desires. Similar to Aristotle 's beliefs, Kant believes that one should act rationally will for your action to become a universal mind, keeping in mind, "What is everyone did it?" Mill believes "To do as one would be done by and to love one 's neighbor as oneself, constitute the idea perfection of utilitarian morality(Mill)." Knowing what I know from these philosophers allows me to analyze my beliefs in comparison to theirs. One of my first ethical values is that you must treat others the way you want to be treated. I believe this is important regardless of the circumstances because it creates a general sense of doing good and a lot of times these traits are passed on to other people. Because everyone has their own view on what they would want done to them, you must look at the general consensus of what is right and what is wrong. Mill believes, "Utility" or the "greatest ... The closing of a factory in Thailand one year after its opening – because it lost out to other low–cost producers in Indonesia – was the last straw for Ho, who then realized that a low–cost strategy was not only difficult to follow but would also lead nowhere. Determined to craft out something proprietary that would allow the company to become a price maker rather than a price taker, Ho decided that building a strong brand was the only way for him to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage. The idea of entering the luxury resorts market was inspired by the gap in the hotel industry that giant chains such as the Hilton and Shangri–La could not fill. There existed a market segment that wanted private and intimate accommodation without the expectation of glitzy chain hotels. This was fueled by the sharp price gap between the luxurious Aman Resorts and other resorts in the luxury resorts market. For example, the Amanpuri in Thailand, one of Aman's resorts, charged in 2004 a rack rate for its villas ranging from US$650 to over US$7,000 a night, whereas the prices of other luxury resorts, such as the Shangri–La Hotel and Phuket Arcadia Beach Resort by Hilton in Thailand were priced below US$350. Noticing the big difference in prices between Aman Resorts and the other resorts in the luxury resorts market, Ho saw potential for offering an innovative niche product that could also bridge the price gap in this market. ...
