Gregor Mendal Research Paper
Mendal Essay
Gregor Mendal grew up in a German–speaking family, and worked on his family's farm and took up beekeeping. He went to a gymnasium for
sometime but stopped to go to college. He later tried going to college for Physics, but he had a lot of debt.He tried being a monk because then he
wouldn't have to pay for his education. His sister later paid for it which he later paid her back.
After he went to college went into a philosophy institute. Which he did a study of plants He took sometime studying as a priest and the religious
institute gave him the name Gregor. He tried being a High School Teacher but failed one of the exams. He was then sent to have a more traditional
education. He succeeded one of the head monks, which forced him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His mentor gave him permission to use a garden to experiment. The first thing he studied was plant hybrids. He tested Twenty eight thousand pea
plants. He also experimented crossing tall and short plants. At the time gardeners could obtain true–bred hybrids from seed stores. You could be sure
that you could get large and little plants. Mendal used this to his advantage, he combined the big and small, collecting the seeds. However he
realized that the plants had dominant traits, meaning they were always Big instead of small. He realized that other traits were dominant too.
Therefore showing that one trait was more common than another when combined in certain combination. Gregor Mendel made some books
describing his experiments and showing their results. Some of the stuff he talked about was even posted in some newspapers. Although, many people
denied his work. Eventually his work was accepted as mostly being about hybrids instead of inheritance. was accepted as being about inheritance.
Now it is highly accepted today and made a huge impact on the way we view genetics. Though not until the 1900's was it rediscovered, it appears that
many of the scientists and monks that heard him speak didn't really have an interest. Once his work was rediscovered in the 1900's many read this and
spread this, biologists gathered for this amazing idea. Once biologists found this idea, genetics excelled. During his

Washington Center Life Changing Experience
The Washington Center is truly a life changing experience, because you are not only engage in an internship, but also you get to explore different
parts of your leadership style and learn how to be a professional in your respective field. I personally saw this experience as a way of finding more
about myself, and the many potentials I have to be a leader and a professional. The academic internship program helped me clarify my values,
challenge my skills, and helped me planned my future goals. My values were clarified more this summer, because I always had a different way of
seen values compared to the way I rediscovered them here at TWC. Values to me were only based on culture, and we all had different ones based on
the environment we were raised. One of the values I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Diversity" is another value I discovered in my internship site. My internship was at the ISC (International Student Conferences), and it was interesting
to work with people that were not American. The co–workers I worked with were from China, Korea, and Japan. My supervisor was from China, the
other intern was from Korea, and the previous Executive Director was from Japan. I found it fascinating how different it was to work with them and
learn from their culture, compared to what I learned in my textbooks and courses at FIU. Sometimes, answers are not always in books. The Executive
Director, before he left, was someone that was secluded in his office and did not bother to interact with myself compared to the rest of the members of
the office. Japanese bosses behave differently towards those from lower–level positions, and this was something I learned from one of my courses at
FIU. But, I never thought that the experience was going to be as big of a culture shock as I thought it was. Now I am more prepared to work with
people that may don't like to interact with others because

Is Shakespeare Reborn Or Forgotten
Reborn or Forgotten
Renaissance
What is the renaissance? Is it a long ago place were men would go to have a good time, or is it a famous journey only the bravest knights would go
on? Actually it's just a word that means rediscovery. And what the people or Shakespeare rediscovered was just some poems and stories told back
about 400 B.C, and they rediscovered it in about 1600 A.D so for 2000 years they was only one story told by the church and that the book of JOB

In European times also known as the "Middle Ages" there was a strong leaning for religious people to dislike human affairs and to learn about the
afterlife with God. As a response to this medieval learning, secularism showed itself in the growth of humanism. When people began to show more
interest in human cultural triumphs and the possibilities of their satisfaction in this world. "The movement toward secularism has been in evolution
during the entire course of modern history and has often been viewed as being anti–Christian," (Shakespeare). Secularism has played a big part in
government and religion too throughout the years. For instance, "If I were a dictator, religion and state would be separate. I swear by my religion. I
will die for it. But it is my personal affair. The state has nothing to do with it. The state would look after your secular welfare, health, communications,
foreign relations, currency and so on, but not your or my religion. That is everybody's personal concern!" (Gandhi). In our own democracy there is a
separation of church and state with Gandhi's belief system. The government should look out for mankind in all

Carrie Underwood See You Again Analysis
Hope For the Hopeless The huge sign reads "Welcome home daddy!" as the little girl runs and jumps into her father's arms at the airport. In Carrie
Underwood's song "See You Again" there are many clips of soldiers returning home in the music video. This song reminds today's society that they
will be reunited with their loved ones, whether in this life or the next. Underwood released this song just a few months ago, after the Sandy Hook
shootings and the Oklahoma tornadoes. It has become impossible not to notice that today's society has begun to lose hope in the world. "See You
Again" shows us the raw images and reasons that the society has begun to lose hope, but it reminds the population that we must find and maintain hope,
because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With such tension in these lyrics the song goes from giving the audience melancholy feelings, to leaving them with a sense of hope. In this lyric
Underwood reminds us that though people may be gone, (like the victims of the attack on the Twin Towers and Sandy Hook shooting), today's
society must carry their memories throughout life. The tension caused by the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Sandy Hook Shooting threw the
United States into a state of desperation. During the beginning of the music video Underwood sings, "Said goodbye, turned around and you were
gone, gone, gone, faded into the setting sun slipped away" (Underwood). In these lyrics, the sun is used to portray the death of a person whose life
was taken so abruptly, like the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting and the 9/11 attacks. When society experiences instances of this, hope is lost and
there is no feeling of safety in the community. In a recent article, "Hope," published in the spring of 2011, written by Gloria Rubio–Corte's, NCL's
president says, "Hope happens when people have a home" (CortГ©s 27). When such terrible events happen in our society, nobody feels at home, even
when surrounded by family and friends. In the article, CortГ©s continues to explain that the only way someone feels at home is when a person
believes the community they belong to is safe. After major events such as the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Sandy Hook shooting,

Green Tea: Nature's Rediscovered Ancient Medicine Essay
Green Tea: Nature's Rediscovered Ancient Medicine
According to legend, tea originated in China in 2737 B.C. with Emperor Shen Nung, who observed that those who boiled their water before drinking
it were bestowed with good health. One day he was boiling water when a gust of wind blew leaves from a tea tree into his pot. He was very pleased
with the drinks aroma and taste, and thought the drink to be sent from heaven. Shortly after tea was invented, it found its way to Japan and spread
throughout Asia (2). Tea did not make its way to the United States and Europe until about 1650, when it was brought over by the Dutch. At first, tea
was only available to the rich and royalty because it was so expensive. Tea leaves were brought to England ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Colonists protested "taxation without representation" and stopped the tea from being unloaded. They dressed up as American Indians in
December of 1773 and took over ships from the East India Company, throwing the tea overboard in what we now call the Boston Tea Party. This act
eventually led the way to the independence of America (1).
There are three categories of tea: black, oolong, and green. All tea comes from the leaves of the plant Camellia sinensis. The fermentation process of
the leaves after harvest is what makes these teas different. Black tea is fermented, oolong tea is only fermented partially, whereas green tea is
steamed and not fermented at all (1). Because green tea is the least processed and freshest of the teas, it has more health benefits than the others do.
Green tea also contains significantly less caffeine than black tea, but it has been found that decaffeinated green tea lacks the health benefits that the
leaves possess in their natural state. The benefits of the tea are also decreased when milk is added to the drink. When preparing green tea, you should
not steep in boiling water, but rather in hot water (approximately 160–200 degrees). If using loose tea leaves, one teaspoon tea should be added for a
little over one cup of water (2).
Each kind of tea has a slightly different effect on the body. Black tea is the strongest of the three types of teas, contains more caffeine (although still
half the caffeine of coffee), and is a

The Polynesians In The Americas
The debate over who rediscovered American as has been long lasting. Be it Leif Erikson of Christopher Columbus the mindset remained that a
European was responsible. However, as technology advances and Eurocentric mindsets start to fade, new theories have been established. Now there is
a theory that Polynesians rediscovered America long before Columbus sail the ocean blue or Erickson discovered Newfoundland.
Evidence of Polynesians in the Americas are found in the DNA of sweet potatoes. Polynesian sweet potatoes were a mystery since the Polynesians had
them before the Europeans made came to the Americas. (Nelson 2017). Scientists have traced the DNA and found that there is a distinct lineage
present in the Americas before European voyages. (Nelson 2017). Sweet potatoes made it out of America before European contact. This mean that
during the Polynesian expansion, c. 300 to c. 1450 CE, some of the Polynesians made it to the Americas and brought the sweet potatoes ... Show more

Researchers argue that the genes point to contact between Native Americans and Easter Islanders before 1500 C.E. (Lawler 2017). Native American
genetic patterns were about 8% of the genomes of the Rapa Nui islanders. (Lawler 2017). The genes appeared to be before islanders were enslaved
by Europeans to work in South America. (Lawler 2017). This means the Polynesian who settled Rapa Nui may have already traveled to the Americas.
There isn't only DNA evidence to support this theory. The Chumash and the Gabrielino of the Tongva ethnic group
–were the only North American
natives to build seagoing–plank canoes. (Wiener 2014). These groups are native to what is now California. According to Dr. Terry L. Jones, the plank
sewn boat is a significantly different technology than the vessels made by other surrounding natives. (Wiener 2014). These boats are like the
Polynesian style boats indicating the people groups had contact at one

Essay on Biography of Johann Elert Bode
Johann Elert Bode was born in Hamburg, Germany on January 19, 1747. His father was a merchant and his mother stayed at home with him and
his eight younger brothers and sisters. Bode never went to formal school, but his father was determined to teach him how to be a great merchant.
However, Bode didn't want to become a merchant. He was very interested in mathematics, geography, and astrology. He decided to go against what
his father was teaching him and pursue a career in Astrology instead. When Bode was a child he had a nasty eye infection that caused him to lose
most of his sight in his right eye. This didn't keep him from his studies or his astrological findings. When Bode was 18 his father died of a serious
illness. After this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Uranus was later found and its number is 19. Bode's law can not, however, accurately give the correct answer for Neptune and Pluto. While Bode's
name is in the name of the law he was not the person who created it. He was only the person who popularized it. Johann Daniel Titius was actually
the first person to first announce it. Bode had written about it in one of his studies but he had not credited Titius for his works, so people just
assumed that it was Bode's findings. Bode later gave Titius the credit he deserved, hence the second name of the law, Bode–Titius Law.
Bode has many other contributions to astronomy. He found, in total, four different celestial bodies and "rediscovered" three others. He discovered
M81, a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major; M82, an irregular galaxy also in Ursa Major; M53, a globular cluster in Coma Berenices; M92, another globular
cluster, in Hercules; M64, a spiral galaxy in Coma Berenices, this one was discovered by Edward Pigott then Bode rediscovered it 12 days later;
M48, an open cluster in Hydra, discovered by Charles Messier; and IC4665, an open open cluster in Ophiuchus, discovered by De Cheseaux. Also,
in 1776 Bode created his version of the theory of the solar constitution. Later in 1795, Sir William Herschel created his theory of the theory of the
solar constitution by tweaking Bode's version to fit his beliefs. Bode is the man whom came up with the planet name "Uranus" and it has been called
that ever since.

Machu Picchu: Why Is The Site In The World
Machu Picchu
Worlds heritage sites are man–made or natural areas or structures that are very important so are protected by UNESCO. Machu Picchu is one is one
of these sites. It is located 2430 m above sea level between the Peruvian Andes and the Amazon and spans 32500 ha. Historians believe it was built in
15th century at the height of the Incan Empire.
Why is the site in the World Heritage List?
Criterion i: Machu Picchu is the center of its surroundings. It is a beautiful piece of art, architecture, engineering and urbanization. As well as this, it is
integrated perfectly with its environment, which makes it look like an extension of nature.
Criterion III: Machu Picchu is testimony to the amazing Incan civilization. It was so well–planned that it provided everything what was needed
Criterion xii: The historical monuments are within a beautiful scenic background. It shows the possibility of a peaceful relationship between human
culture and nature.
Criterion ix: Machu Picchu's location between the Andes and amazon basin means that it shelters a lot of flora and fauna, micro–climates and habitats.
It is part of a bigger area of world importance for biodiversity conservation.

Italian Renaissance Art's Affect on Today's Culture Essay
Italian Renaissance Art's Affect on Today's Culture
World History
Many of us today have things in our culture that we appreciate without thinking about where they have come from. The things we enjoy so much could
be from another culture, and even another place in time. This document will explore the influence of Italian Renaissance art on today's civilization,
which has greatly changed the art of today. The Renaissance was a time period that began in the early 1300's and lasted into the 1600's. It was a time
when the philosophies of the ancient Greek and Romans were rediscovered, which took place after the Middle Ages. Many of the philosophies of the
Middle Ages were no longer accepted, and the Renaissance brought about a revamped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Renaissance, all that changed. Artists then included an emphasis on human beings and the environment, which shown that this is indication
of changes in their culture at the time. "Renaissance individualism and realism found their greatest and most lasting representation in the visual arts"
(Walker 77).
There were many great artists spread across the time of the Renaissance. Some of them were leading the way in new artistic techniques created
during the Renaissance, while others used inspiration from a past artisan to establish their own styles and methods. About a century before the art
caught on, a Florentine painter by the name of Giotto was the first to break away from the Middle Age style of painting. "Giotto was the towering
artistic genius of the 14th century, so far ahead of his time that no other painter approached his level of work for almost a hundred years" (Walker
78). Even though Giotto was ahead, he lacked the awareness of perspective, but he used space, light, and color to create a very strong sense of the
human form, along with a storyteller's ability to capture the central moment in a particular scene (Walker 78). One of the important pieces of the
revolution that Giotto started was that he established painting as a major art for the next six centuries, and he also founded the method of pictorial
experiment through observation (Gardener 568). After Giotto there was a architect that came along in the early

How Does Prospero Change Throughout The Tempest
It is the nature of meaningful discoveries, that they challenge and shift one's perceptions, while the outcomes of such discoveries are not necessarily
positive. William Shakespeare's Jacobean play, "The Tempest" (1600s) clearly showcases this notion through the depiction of a man's emotional
discovery, through the experience of betrayal and moral struggle of decision between forgiveness and vengeance. In contrast to Shakespeare's 17th
century play, but adhering to discovery's ability to transform, is Adrienne Rich's poem, "Diving into the Wreck" (1973), which depicts a diver's
physical and intellectual discovery of a wreck, as she sees the value of humanity within a sunken ship. Finally, Sam Mendes' Contemporary film,
"American Beauty" (1999)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is evident in Shakespeare's play Tempest where Prospero's rediscovery of his humanity occurs as a result of his intellectual discovery of his
limitations as a mortal. Prospero's initial desire to seek revenge is shown in "They now are in my power. And in these fits I leave them," where
truncated sentences are used to emphasise Prospero's cruelty and his initial belief in power being his most important asset as it allowed him
vengeance. However, Prospero's attitude dramatically changes due to his intellectual discovery of human mortality evident in "We are such stuff as
dreams are made on; and our little life is rounded with a sleep," where the euphemism of 'sleep' replacing death and the metaphor 'dream' suggests that
life is fragile and temporary. The alliteration employed in "such stuff ... little life" uses a derogatory tone to emphasise the insignificance of human life
and, with it, the insignificance of his art. As Prospero discovers the futility of his power in the face of mortality, he rediscovers his humanity and
comes to renewed understandings of the futility of vengeance. Prospero's forgiveness and granting of freedom in"My charms I'll break, their senses I'll
restore, and they shall be themselves.", directly juxtaposed to his initial cruelty, hence portraying his rediscovered humanity. Thus, the intensely
meaningful impact of discoveries is shown in Prospero's rediscovered humanity as a result of the intellectual discovery of

Women During The 1950 ' S
A lot was going on in the world in the 1950's. World War II had just ended, the Civil Rights Movement was just getting started, the "Baby Boom"
was under way, and women in sports play a very uneven role. In the 1950's men really preferred the masculine role, they wanted to be the man of the
house and with that, the best athlete. It was happening all around the world in the 1950's, men wanted to show the ladies who really was in charge, and
as a result woman in sports were not fairly treated. How are women treated in regard to sports and what stereotypes are shown and what role do these
women play in the 1950's? During the 1950's, magazines and newspapers degraded women athletes by not highlighting their talents necessarily, but

Women were able to expand their role as years after the war passed, however, they had to let the man be the one to showcase his talents. Women
took on a big role of being the lady of the house, cooking cleaning, but still not much of the time was involved with sports. When the women did play
sports, they were degraded and the men had to be in control. This is seen in an article written in Sports Illustrated, saying, "Like marriage, mixed
doubles is a give–and–take proposition. The smart team, as in the smart marriage, lets the man appear to be the boss. To be sure, the lady must carry
her fair share of the burden–and even more on those not infrequent occasions when she is actually a better player than her partner" (Talbert). This is
showing that in marriage when they were playing tennis, that even though she was really the better player that she had to "carry the burden".
Regardless of what talents she had, she still wasn't allowed to showcase them. This just goes to show that although she was able to actually play the
sport, she always had to let the man be the one to show off his talents. The opportunities for women in sports were slim to none, but those who were
fortunate enough to hold higher roles were highly demeaned. It was rather rare for a woman to hold a high role such as assistant coach or even
sometimes manager during the 1950's. Men always wanted to show off their masculinity,

Kruskal Algorithm Essay
Kruskal's Algorithm
Introduction:
In 1956, the minimum spanning tree algorithm was firstly described by Kruskal. In same paper where he rediscovered the Jarnik's algorithm. The
algorithm was rediscovered in 1957 by Loberman and Weinberger, but avoided to be renamed after them. The main idea of Kruskal's algorithms is as
follows:
Scan all the edges in the increase of weight order;
[If any edge is safe, keep it (i.e. add it to the set A)]
Kruskal's Algorithm is directly based on generic MST algorithm. It builds MST in the forest. On the initial level, each of the vertex is in its own tree
in the forest. Then the algorithm consider each of the edge in turn, order by the increase of weight. If any edge (u, v) connects two of the different ...

Billie Jo's Piano Playing In Out Of The Dust By Karen Hesse
In the book Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse, it shows how a girl and her family had been affected by the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl had destroyed

how Billie Jo's piano playing is tied to other good and bad things in hers and the families life. Her piano playing is positive in the beginning, separated
in the middle, and rediscovered in the end.

Christianity Rediscovered By Vincent J. Donovan
Christianity Rediscovered
Chapter One:
In the first chapter of "Christianity Rediscovered" by Vincent J. Donovan he is introducing us to the idea that missionaries now have a poor reputation
due to their history. He says "History has offered the opportunity to deflect and distort the meaning of missionary work in every age". For a long time a
missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have diminished many different beliefs, practices, cultures and
history. At the time it was thought to be the right thing, to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and acceptance. In today's
age a missionary is a lot of different things, in many cases it is more focused on the health and physical wellbeing of the people. Many people still
share the gospel through missionary work, but in other cases it is more of a material aid. Donovan introduces the book as a voyage of discovery he
wants us to put our normal beliefs aside to see his perspective of living a missionaries life and struggling with the fact of if you are helping or hurting.
Donovan speaks about the missionaries who came to East Africa after they were taken into slavery. The missionaries thought it would be a good idea
to come over and buy the people to save them from harsh lives, so they bought as many as they could. Doing this they also taught them all of their
customs and where forced into Christianity instead of their beliefs ways and cultures. This struck off a

Frank Hurley Rediscovery Analysis
Neither discovery nor rediscovery is more complex than the other, both have different influencing factors that make them complicated.
Rediscoveries are made complicated through having to assess their significance in the changed context over the time passed form the initial
discovery. However, initial discoveries are difficult as they can challenge the values of the discoverer. The documentary "Frank Hurley: The Man
Who Made History" explores this notion of rediscovery through inviting the audience to discover the story of one of the great imperial explorers
Frank Hurley. Karen Joy Fowlers novel "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves" supports this through the story of Rosemary Cooke who was
raised with a chimpanzee (Fern) as a sister, but separated from her at a young age, who makes discoveries about her confusing past. Contextual
changes make is complex to decide the significance of a rediscovery. A change in context can lead to renewed perception, thus a new significance in
the discoverers world. This complexity is demonstrated in 'Frank Hurley: The Man Who Made History', which portrays the complicated debate over the

In 79 CE, a disastrous eruption from Mt. Vesuvius occurred. This eruption affected many towns, but one famous town affected was one that was
located about five miles from the volcano. This ancient Roman area was known as Pompeii. After the eruption, it was abandoned for many years, until
explorers rediscovered Pompeii in 1748. Below the dust and debris, was a town that once lively; mostly everything remained intact. For a long time,
people thought that the Pompeiians had suffocated, but now many historians believe that those who perished in Pompeii died after being hit by an
explosion and hot debris. Evidence has been collected to prove this theory including body casts which captured villagers in their last living moments,
skeletons in nearby towns and facts about volcanic behaviour.

There are 1,510 active volcanoes in the world; Mt. Vesuvius and Mount St. Helens are two of these volcanoes. They are both stratovolcanoes, which
means they are conical–shaped. Pyroclastic flows can set apart stratovolcanoes from the rest. Pyroclastic flows have a big amount of extremely hot gas
and rock, which slide down the volcano. In 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted, sending pyroclastic flows – this was the first time they had witnessed a
pyroclastic flow; this helped further understand what happened in Pompeii. This piece of evidence shows that pyroclastic flows killed the Pompeiians.
Due to new evidence surfacing, it is believed that Pompeiians were engulfed in pyroclastic flows, which killed them. Body casts created from plaster,
in particular the body cast named 'The Muleteer'; Herculaneum's cracked skeletal remains; and factual information about volcanic behaviour ensures that
this theory is true. Mt. Vesuvius caused the deaths of many innocent lives by boiling hot gas, debris and rock that rushed down the side of the

Underneath a thick layer of dust and debris the city was mostly intact. The skeletons, buildings, and artifacts have allowed archeologists to discover a

I would definitely say that this is a great story of American life. It shows how people's lives change for the better with one little change. It is why

Trinidad American Culture
Trinidad
Every day we get in our vehicles, we drive on this thick black substance what we know to be asphalt. Yet do we know where it comes from? This
black tar like substance comes from underground and sometimes is mined. This resource comes from crude oil, or whatever is left from oil in the
refinery's. This can be found in many places but Trinidad is one of the leaders in crude oil production.
Trinidad, a small island off the coast of Venezuela, was rediscovered in 1498 byChristopher Columbus while he was on his third voyage to discover
the new world. Trinidad was inhabited by the Arawak's prior to being stumbled upon by Columbus. After Columbus rediscovered Trinidad, they
were put under control by the Spanish. This reign of power would eventually end in 1797 when the British took over. (2007, November 06) Britain
would also take control of another territory in 1814. Tobago would now be under British control and be a part of Trinidad in 1889. (2007, November

Trinidad has a hilly plain but also has a vast supply of water sources.
Like America, Trinidad also is diverse in religion. Most people are Christians, but you have the roman Catholics, Pentecostals, Anglicans, Hinduism and
Muslim. About 40% of the ethnicity of Trinidad is Indian, while the other makeup is African, mixed, European, Latin, and Chinese. (2007, November

The Grotte Chauvet-Pont D Arc
The Grotte Chauvet–Pont d'Arc (Cave of Chauvet–Pont d'Arc) is located in the ArdГЁche region in southern France. It contains the earliest–known and
best–preserved figurative drawings in the world, dating to the Aurignacian period, around 30,000–32,000 BC. A rock fall closed the cave approximately
20,000 years BC and was rediscovered in 1994 by a small team of cavers led by Jean–Marie Chauvet.
The paintings portray numerous dangerous animal species that researchers believe were difficult to observe at that time, such as mammoth, bear, cave
lion, rhino, bison and auroch, plus 4,000 inventoried remains of prehistoric wildlife and a variety of human footprints.
According to researchers, the Chauvet–Pont d'Arc represents a lot about the cultural

What Is The Importance Of Truths In The Book Sarah's Key
The book Sarah's Key, written by Tatiana de Rosnay, begins by introducing the fictional character of Sarah into the real life roundup of Jewish people
that occurred at the Vel' d'Hiv bicycle stadium in France. She then contrasts Sarah's story of surviving the Holocaust by introducing Julia, an aging
journalist. On assignment to commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the roundup, Julia discovers that the family she married into owns the house
were Sarah used to live. Through her investigative journalism skills, Julia is able to write on a personal level to reveal truths left behind in the past.
By feeling connected to Sarah on an emotional level instead of just reading words in a forgotten text book. The French committed a mass atrocity
against their own people and sent the members of Sarah's Jewish community (as well as other French Jews) off to their deaths at Auschwitz. Those

get easy headlines and attract the attention of readers, while everyday events are ignored only to be rediscovered by journalists who end up being
more credible than historians. In order to get to the bottom of what occurred during history's most crucial times, journalists are able to recognize the
importance of varying stories and find people who have lived through the event to bring the truth to life. Although, when history is on one of these
crucial times, the news tends to be overshadowed by huge headliner stories to record intelligence writing on what happened. Not emotional, tear jerking

Renaissance Vs Alexander The Great's Ruling
Why was the Renaissance more impactful on Modern Society than Alexander the Great's Ruling? The beginning of a new life arrived, and in the
1300's, the Renaissance began. The Renaissance was a time when art, education, science, and technology were rediscovered. The Renaissance has
brought many great ideas to the modern world, but the king of the Macedonian empire, Alexander the Great, is known for being the best leader of all
time. Alexander spread Greek culture and language throughout the world, allowing people to trade easier. TheRenaissance impacts modern society
more than Alexander the Great because the Renaissance introduced many technological advancements. Art is a main effect of the Renaissance.
Modern society lives off of art. Many people have jobs that use art such as architects, construction workers, painters, and plenty more. Architects draw,
construction workers read blueprints which are drawn, and painters paint. During the Renaissance, famous artist Donatello "rediscovered the technique
of perspective..." (Beck 419). Perspective is a known technique of painting and drawing all over the world. Many famous pieces of artwork have

As Julia recounts, "On the black marble, there was no mention that the French police alone had been responsible for running the camp, and for
what had happened behind the barbed wire." (de Rosnay 146). This is due to the fact that while the winners and the losers have a distinct spot in
the history books the people in the middle tend to be left out. In this case the middle man was the French government, the winner was the United
States and the loser was the Nazi party of Germany. In an interview with a real survivor of the roundup Tara Kelly found out that, "It wasn't until
1962 that the French government finally wrote to me and told me the truth: The entire Widerman family perished in Auschwitz. Prior to that, I'd only
received letters saying "Ils sont disparus", which means "They are lost". To this day I always feel guilty that I survived." (Kelly). Using the
investigative principals that come with journalism, Julia and Kelly were able to bring back the relevance of the Vel d'Hiv for the news story while
keeping to historical credibility. Tatiana de Rosnay used thecharacter of Julia to show the importance of journalism and just how easy it can take over
your life in trying to find all the stories within a single event in

Polyethylene Research Paper
Around 150 years ago, there was no such thing as plastic or any synthetic materials that were widely used. The invention of plastic gave us the ability
to produce materials that cannot be made from natural substances alone. At first the benefit of creating synthetic materials was greatly overlooked for
many years, but over time the benefits became more evident. Polyethylene's first discovery was actually made on accident. In 1899, Hans von
Pechmann discovered polyethylene at the bottom of a test tube in his laboratory (Sharp 18). He was convinced that this chemical was a waste product
that could be found after chemical reactions had taken place. Making this assumption, he disregarded the chemical for what seemed to be practical

In fact the 1950's and 1960's showed a time of great expansion for the uses of plastic materials. So much so that in 1976, "plastic surpassed steel in
becoming the most widely used material" (Greer A.25.). With the major technological advancements that occurred around this time in the 1970's,
many technological products today now contain polyethylene or other plastic materials. Some examples of current technological products that are
composed of polyethylene include DVDs, computer and video games and CDs (Bell 17). It has been proven that the use of polyethylene in these
products has also increased the audio and video capabilities of these products greatly (Bell 17). CDs made in the last several decades are made from an

Pompei History
The first settlers at Pompeii are Greeks, part of the spread of Greek colonies around the Mediterranean in the 6th century BC. By the 4th century the
town has been taken by Samnites, a Italian tribe from the inland hills. The site of Pompeii is located in western Italy in a region called Campania,
near the Bay of Naples. This location ensured the city's role as a center of commerce. Pompeii proper is enclosed by two miles of walls that encompass
23 acres, though the city itself extended beyond the walls with suburbs that melded into fertile farmlands known for their vineyards and olive orchards.
Within this beautiful countryside many wealthy Romans placed their summer homes. However, it was Pompeii's proximity to Mt. Vesuvius that
ensured the city's place in history. Pompeii grew from a settlement of Oscan speaking descendants of the Neolithic inhabitants of Campania. Pre–Roman
Pompeii, as a part of Campania, was a recipient of a complex set of cultural influences: Etruscans from the north, Greek colonists from the south, and
Samnites and other Italic peoples all around. Pompeii was settled by Greeks in the 6th century BC.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thousand people died, and the city was abandoned for almost as many years. When a group of explorers rediscovered the site in 1748, they were
surprised to find that underneath a thick layer of dust and debris–Pompeii was mostly intact. The buildings, artifacts and skeletons left behind in the

The Period Of The Renaissance Period
Renaissance literally means rebirth. It refers particularly to the rebirth of learning during this period. There was a tremendous revival of classical
literature and art, but in the end it was the joining of this with the intellect of the Italian people that lead to the change of the Western World. This
period was definitely more than just a rebirth though, it was also an age of new discoveries, both geographic and intellectual. Both of these resulted in
changes of tremendous importance for Western civilization.
In the economy, for example, there were many innovations that lead to a commercial revolution. There were innovations in banking, accounting,
company structure, insurance and commercial law and the invention of commercial capitalism. All of these things worked together to usher in a new
world that was very different from that of classical Antiquity but they also laid the foundation for what was to come during the Renaissance period.
When looking at the culture during this time there was great influence from the Humanist movement led by Petrarch. There has been some controversy
over time as to exactly what the humanist movement was all about. According to Burkhardt the time was a discovery of man, which was in direct
contrast to the current secular interests of the time. Modern humanists are defined as someone who has a set of human values, which are normally
secular in nature, that are based on a particular conception of many and his potential.

Writing Rediscovered
Most of us never think about the technology we use when writing, whether we are jotting down our "To Do" lists or pulling out a pencil for an exam,
we do it without much thought. Walter Ong tells us "Although we take writing so much for granted as to forget that it is a technology, writing is in a
way the most drastic of the three technologies of the word (321). I believe that many of us would agree that although we may not consider writing to
be a drastic technology, we would say that it is an important one.

Since the piece of wood I used had not fallen from the tree itself, it is obvious that someone had to use a saw to cut it. I did not use any tools

ones on a wild bush. I would like to believe that this bush grew there naturally, but I somehow cannot fully believe that there was no technology
involved in the placement of that bush. To produce the words that I needed to write I squeezed the red berry juice onto the log and wrote, "I love
my three kids Meagan, Maddy and Emma and Eddie too my name is Amy Lynn Johnson." It proved to be very difficult to write those eighteen
words for many reasons. First, it was difficult to write small enough to fit so many words onto my log because the juice from the berries would run.
I also found that the berries had to be extremely ripe in order to produce the dark red juice, for if they were not yet ready the juice inside ran clear.
Next, I found that without a sharp point it was difficult to even shape or form the letters themselves, and the rounded edges of the berries were not
strong enough to withstand the pressure that my hand was placing on them.
I found out, when it rained, that this writing material would not be permanent due to the fact that my berry ink was washed away. This invention has

What I found most interesting about the article was how different the Montsechia vidalii is from the flowers we know today. Although the plant does

This is sets it apart from today's plants, and also shows how 130 million years of evolution can both do a great amount, but at the same time a small
amount. Although the changes are somewhat large, such as the removal of, they are tiny in comparison to other evolutionary changes, which could

How much does the Montsechia vidalii resembler, the coontail, resemble the original flower?

Renaissance Art Research Paper
What is Rebirth? The Renaissance, a cultural and historical movement, began in the 15th and 16th Centuries. Throughout the Renaissance, the
influence of Ancient Rome was rediscovered after many advances in thought had been lost during the medieval dark ages. The center of this
ideological revolution based itself in Italy. Renowned artists involved in the revolution include Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Jan Van
Eyck. After hundreds of years, numerous pieces of work which these gentlemen crafted still stand. The Renaissance springboarded numerous, unique
styles of art and dramatically impacted modern day art.
Throughout the Renaissance, countless artists used individual and unique styles of painting to be able to convey their thoughts and emotions.
However, this self–expression would be impossible without advances in oil paints, instead of using the ancient eggshell paints. The benefits of using oil
paint entailed a longer period of time before the paint dried. This allowed artists to incorporate more detail into their works, without the paint drying.
Using mathematical principles, many artists styled the paintings to exact detail, causing them to be extremely similar ... Show more content on

The Renaissance was a time of rebirth and the reformation, when civilization came out of the dark ages and entered an era of scientific advancement.
Undoubtedly the Renaissance altered the course of human history, and the effects are still apparent in modern culture. The importance of the
Renaissance and it's affect on the modern era can be summarized by American Journalist and Writer P. J. O'Rourke, "Not much was really invented
during the Renaissance, if you don't count modern civilization." The Renaissance revolutionized society, bringing forward new ideas of Humanism,

During the middle ages the only use for art was to depict Bible scenes, however the Renaissance transformed this notion and artists and intellectuals
became respectable members of society. Families like the Medici's housed artists whose skill is still admired to this day, and scholars who

new techniques were invented and discovered which led to improved realism in artwork, and new styles of buildings. Many of these techniques are
still used in modern art. These methods include Brunelleschi's design for domes, showing perspective in paintings, using mathematics in art, and
frescos. During the Middle Ages nearly all of the art commissioned was for the church; the Renaissance gave birth to many new styles of art,

Landscapes were another new style, at this time landscapes were generally a backdrop to the focus of the painting, however the importance of the

The Renaissance Was A Creative Period
The Renaissance was a creative period. "First called the rinascimento, Italian for 'rebirth' the period came to be known by its French name, the
Renaissance." This period can also be defined as the rebirth of classical learning, literature, and art. During this Renaissance artists branched away from
the restraint of Byzantine Art. Early in the Renaissance, Florence was not part of the unified country of Italy. Italy was divided into different states
such as Florence, Milan, Venice, etc. Florence became the founder of the rebirth. One reason Florence was so prominent was because Florentines
praised their hometown. Extraordinary wealthy accumulated in Florence. Merchants and wealthy families controlled the political power in Florence.
Florence saw itself as the ideal government and city. They were extremely proud of the government. Freedom and choices of the individual was
guaranteed. Other's sought to destroy Florence, such as Duke of Milan and King of Naples. Fortunately for Florence, Duke of Milan suddenly died
of the plague and King of Naples died before ever conquering Florence. The Florentines saw these victories as signs of God's favor and protection over
the city.

How Humanism Affected Art in the Renaissance
Humanism affected the art of the Renaissance because of how Renaissance artists became increasingly interested with humanist concepts, and because
of how they tried to incorporate humanist beliefs into their art. Artists conveyed their humanist beliefs by using new techniques such as perspective,
and by painting more realistic figures. In addition, humanism encouraged artists to paint using new secular themes that were rediscovered along with
classical art and texts. The artists of the Italian Renaissance expressed the ideals of their time period by painting more secular scenes rather than
religious ones, and by using new techniques taken from the art and texts that were discovered during that period. One of the main ways that the art of
the Renaissance was affected by humanism was that many artists of the Renaissance began to turn away from religious themes, unlike their
predecessors from the Middle Ages. Humanism was embraced by artists of the Renaissance without hesitation. When humanism spread throughout Italy
and Northern Europe, there was an eager audience for the new findings of classical traditions and art. In the beginning of the Renaissance, artists used
themes that were taken from Renaissance humanist beliefs and philosophies. These themes were mostly secular, and sometimes involved a slight
religious aspect, but usually depicted a scene of an ordinary place. This is different from the Religious scenes that were widely used during the Middle
Ages because almost

she began experiencing severe migraines, aural hallucinations, seizures, and severe mood destabilization, I drove to as many of her appointments in
Seattle as I could and spent weekends with her where she lived with my mother in Centralia. Though we avoided discussing her condition, I couldn't
stop imagining the potential fatal outcome. Previously diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, they advised my sister to start an
aggressive treatment approach as her O.C.D. was possibly a result of a lesion and their growth would aggravate the disorder. The doctors expected
lesion growth and possible appearance of more lesions over time alongside a decline in her cognitive function. Neither my sister nor I handled this
news well. While her decline was sharp and her depression set in quickly, I struggled with making it to class and completing my assignments. Each day
I pushed myself to be present and

  • 1. Gregor Mendal Research Paper Mendal Essay Gregor Mendal grew up in a German–speaking family, and worked on his family's farm and took up beekeeping. He went to a gymnasium for sometime but stopped to go to college. He later tried going to college for Physics, but he had a lot of debt.He tried being a monk because then he wouldn't have to pay for his education. His sister later paid for it which he later paid her back. After he went to college went into a philosophy institute. Which he did a study of plants He took sometime studying as a priest and the religious institute gave him the name Gregor. He tried being a High School Teacher but failed one of the exams. He was then sent to have a more traditional education. He succeeded one of the head monks, which forced him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His mentor gave him permission to use a garden to experiment. The first thing he studied was plant hybrids. He tested Twenty eight thousand pea plants. He also experimented crossing tall and short plants. At the time gardeners could obtain true–bred hybrids from seed stores. You could be sure that you could get large and little plants. Mendal used this to his advantage, he combined the big and small, collecting the seeds. However he realized that the plants had dominant traits, meaning they were always Big instead of small. He realized that other traits were dominant too. Therefore showing that one trait was more common than another when combined in certain combination. Gregor Mendel made some books describing his experiments and showing their results. Some of the stuff he talked about was even posted in some newspapers. Although, many people denied his work. Eventually his work was accepted as mostly being about hybrids instead of inheritance. was accepted as being about inheritance. Now it is highly accepted today and made a huge impact on the way we view genetics. Though not until the 1900's was it rediscovered, it appears that many of the scientists and monks that heard him speak didn't really have an interest. Once his work was rediscovered in the 1900's many read this and spread this, biologists gathered for this amazing idea. Once biologists found this idea, genetics excelled. During his ... • 2. Washington Center Life Changing Experience The Washington Center is truly a life changing experience, because you are not only engage in an internship, but also you get to explore different parts of your leadership style and learn how to be a professional in your respective field. I personally saw this experience as a way of finding more about myself, and the many potentials I have to be a leader and a professional. The academic internship program helped me clarify my values, challenge my skills, and helped me planned my future goals. My values were clarified more this summer, because I always had a different way of seen values compared to the way I rediscovered them here at TWC. Values to me were only based on culture, and we all had different ones based on the environment we were raised. One of the values I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Diversity" is another value I discovered in my internship site. My internship was at the ISC (International Student Conferences), and it was interesting to work with people that were not American. The co–workers I worked with were from China, Korea, and Japan. My supervisor was from China, the other intern was from Korea, and the previous Executive Director was from Japan. I found it fascinating how different it was to work with them and learn from their culture, compared to what I learned in my textbooks and courses at FIU. Sometimes, answers are not always in books. The Executive Director, before he left, was someone that was secluded in his office and did not bother to interact with myself compared to the rest of the members of the office. Japanese bosses behave differently towards those from lower–level positions, and this was something I learned from one of my courses at FIU. But, I never thought that the experience was going to be as big of a culture shock as I thought it was. Now I am more prepared to work with people that may don't like to interact with others because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is it a long ago place were men would go to have a good time, or is it a famous journey only the bravest knights would go on? Actually it's just a word that means rediscovery. And what the people or Shakespeare rediscovered was just some poems and stories told back about 400 B.C, and they rediscovered it in about 1600 A.D so for 2000 years they was only one story told by the church and that the book of JOB like in the Bible. In European times also known as the "Middle Ages" there was a strong leaning for religious people to dislike human affairs and to learn about the afterlife with God. As a response to this medieval learning, secularism showed itself in the growth of humanism. When people began to show more interest in human cultural triumphs and the possibilities of their satisfaction in this world. "The movement toward secularism has been in evolution during the entire course of modern history and has often been viewed as being anti–Christian," (Shakespeare). Secularism has played a big part in government and religion too throughout the years. For instance, "If I were a dictator, religion and state would be separate. I swear by my religion. I will die for it. But it is my personal affair. The state has nothing to do with it. The state would look after your secular welfare, health, communications, foreign relations, currency and so on, but not your or my religion. That is everybody's personal concern!" (Gandhi). • 4. Carrie Underwood See You Again Analysis Hope For the Hopeless The huge sign reads "Welcome home daddy!" as the little girl runs and jumps into her father's arms at the airport. In Carrie Underwood's song "See You Again" there are many clips of soldiers returning home in the music video. This song reminds today's society that they will be reunited with their loved ones, whether in this life or the next. Underwood released this song just a few months ago, after the Sandy Hook shootings and the Oklahoma tornadoes. It has become impossible not to notice that today's society has begun to lose hope in the world. "See You Again" shows us the raw images and reasons that the society has begun to lose hope, but it reminds the population that we must find and maintain hope, because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With such tension in these lyrics the song goes from giving the audience melancholy feelings, to leaving them with a sense of hope. In this lyric Underwood reminds us that though people may be gone, (like the victims of the attack on the Twin Towers and Sandy Hook shooting), today's society must carry their memories throughout life. The tension caused by the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Sandy Hook Shooting threw the United States into a state of desperation. During the beginning of the music video Underwood sings, "Said goodbye, turned around and you were gone, gone, gone, faded into the setting sun slipped away" (Underwood). In these lyrics, the sun is used to portray the death of a person whose life was taken so abruptly, like the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting and the 9/11 attacks. When society experiences instances of this, hope is lost and there is no feeling of safety in the community. In a recent article, "Hope," published in the spring of 2011, written by Gloria Rubio–Corte's, NCL's president says, "Hope happens when people have a home" (CortГ©s 27). When such terrible events happen in our society, nobody feels at home, even when surrounded by family and friends. In the article, CortГ©s continues to explain that the only way someone feels at home is when a person believes the community they belong to is safe. • 5. Green Tea: Nature's Rediscovered Ancient Medicine Essay Green Tea: Nature's Rediscovered Ancient Medicine According to legend, tea originated in China in 2737 B.C. with Emperor Shen Nung, who observed that those who boiled their water before drinking it were bestowed with good health. One day he was boiling water when a gust of wind blew leaves from a tea tree into his pot. He was very pleased with the drinks aroma and taste, and thought the drink to be sent from heaven. Shortly after tea was invented, it found its way to Japan and spread throughout Asia (2). Tea did not make its way to the United States and Europe until about 1650, when it was brought over by the Dutch. At first, tea was only available to the rich and royalty because it was so expensive. Tea leaves were brought to England ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Colonists protested "taxation without representation" and stopped the tea from being unloaded. They dressed up as American Indians in December of 1773 and took over ships from the East India Company, throwing the tea overboard in what we now call the Boston Tea Party. This act eventually led the way to the independence of America (1). There are three categories of tea: black, oolong, and green. All tea comes from the leaves of the plant Camellia sinensis. The fermentation process of the leaves after harvest is what makes these teas different. Black tea is fermented, oolong tea is only fermented partially, whereas green tea is steamed and not fermented at all (1). Because green tea is the least processed and freshest of the teas, it has more health benefits than the others do. Green tea also contains significantly less caffeine than black tea, but it has been found that decaffeinated green tea lacks the health benefits that the leaves possess in their natural state. The benefits of the tea are also decreased when milk is added to the drink. When preparing green tea, you should not steep in boiling water, but rather in hot water (approximately 160–200 degrees). If using loose tea leaves, one teaspoon tea should be added for a little over one cup of water (2). Each kind of tea has a slightly different effect on the body. Black tea is the strongest of the three types of teas, contains more caffeine (although still half the caffeine of coffee), and is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Polynesians In The Americas The debate over who rediscovered American as has been long lasting. Be it Leif Erikson of Christopher Columbus the mindset remained that a European was responsible. However, as technology advances and Eurocentric mindsets start to fade, new theories have been established. Now there is a theory that Polynesians rediscovered America long before Columbus sail the ocean blue or Erickson discovered Newfoundland. Evidence of Polynesians in the Americas are found in the DNA of sweet potatoes. Polynesian sweet potatoes were a mystery since the Polynesians had them before the Europeans made came to the Americas. (Nelson 2017). Scientists have traced the DNA and found that there is a distinct lineage present in the Americas before European voyages. (Nelson 2017). Sweet potatoes made it out of America before European contact. This mean that during the Polynesian expansion, c. 300 to c. 1450 CE, some of the Polynesians made it to the Americas and brought the sweet potatoes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Researchers argue that the genes point to contact between Native Americans and Easter Islanders before 1500 C.E. (Lawler 2017). Native American genetic patterns were about 8% of the genomes of the Rapa Nui islanders. (Lawler 2017). The genes appeared to be before islanders were enslaved by Europeans to work in South America. (Lawler 2017). This means the Polynesian who settled Rapa Nui may have already traveled to the Americas. There isn't only DNA evidence to support this theory. The Chumash and the Gabrielino of the Tongva ethnic group –were the only North American natives to build seagoing–plank canoes. (Wiener 2014). These groups are native to what is now California. • 7. Essay on Biography of Johann Elert Bode Johann Elert Bode was born in Hamburg, Germany on January 19, 1747. His father was a merchant and his mother stayed at home with him and his eight younger brothers and sisters. Bode never went to formal school, but his father was determined to teach him how to be a great merchant. However, Bode didn't want to become a merchant. He was very interested in mathematics, geography, and astrology. He decided to go against what his father was teaching him and pursue a career in Astrology instead. Bode had written about it in one of his studies but he had not credited Titius for his works, so people just assumed that it was Bode's findings. Bode later gave Titius the credit he deserved, hence the second name of the law, Bode–Titius Law. Bode has many other contributions to astronomy. He found, in total, four different celestial bodies and "rediscovered" three others. He discovered M81, a spiral galaxy in Ursa Major; M82, an irregular galaxy also in Ursa Major; M53, a globular cluster in Coma Berenices; M92, another globular cluster, in Hercules; M64, a spiral galaxy in Coma Berenices, this one was discovered by Edward Pigott then Bode rediscovered it 12 days later; M48, an open cluster in Hydra, discovered by Charles Messier; and IC4665, an open open cluster in Ophiuchus, discovered by De Cheseaux. Also, in 1776 Bode created his version of the theory of the solar constitution. Later in 1795, Sir William Herschel created his theory of the theory of the solar constitution by tweaking Bode's version to fit his beliefs. Italian Renaissance Art's Affect on Today's Culture Essay Italian Renaissance Art's Affect on Today's Culture World History Many of us today have things in our culture that we appreciate without thinking about where they have come from. The things we enjoy so much could be from another culture, and even another place in time. This document will explore the influence of Italian Renaissance art on today's civilization, which has greatly changed the art of today. The Renaissance was a time period that began in the early 1300's and lasted into the 1600's. It was a time when the philosophies of the ancient Greek and Romans were rediscovered, which took place after the Middle Ages. During the Renaissance, all that changed. Artists then included an emphasis on human beings and the environment, which shown that this is indication of changes in their culture at the time. "Renaissance individualism and realism found their greatest and most lasting representation in the visual arts" (Walker 77). There were many great artists spread across the time of the Renaissance. Some of them were leading the way in new artistic techniques created during the Renaissance, while others used inspiration from a past artisan to establish their own styles and methods. About a century before the art caught on, a Florentine painter by the name of Giotto was the first to break away from the Middle Age style of painting. "Giotto was the towering artistic genius of the 14th century, so far ahead of his time that no other painter approached his level of work for almost a hundred years" (Walker 78). Even though Giotto was ahead, he lacked the awareness of perspective, but he used space, light, and color to create a very strong sense of the human form, along with a storyteller's ability to capture the central moment in a particular scene (Walker 78). One of the important pieces of the revolution that Giotto started was that he established painting as a major art for the next six centuries, and he also founded the method of pictorial experiment through observation (Gardener 568). • 10. How Does Prospero Change Throughout The Tempest It is the nature of meaningful discoveries, that they challenge and shift one's perceptions, while the outcomes of such discoveries are not necessarily positive. William Shakespeare's Jacobean play, "The Tempest" (1600s) clearly showcases this notion through the depiction of a man's emotional discovery, through the experience of betrayal and moral struggle of decision between forgiveness and vengeance. In contrast to Shakespeare's 17th century play, but adhering to discovery's ability to transform, is Adrienne Rich's poem, "Diving into the Wreck" (1973), which depicts a diver's physical and intellectual discovery of a wreck, as she sees the value of humanity within a sunken ship. And in these fits I leave them," where truncated sentences are used to emphasise Prospero's cruelty and his initial belief in power being his most important asset as it allowed him vengeance. However, Prospero's attitude dramatically changes due to his intellectual discovery of human mortality evident in "We are such stuff as dreams are made on; and our little life is rounded with a sleep," where the euphemism of 'sleep' replacing death and the metaphor 'dream' suggests that life is fragile and temporary. The alliteration employed in "such stuff ... little life" uses a derogatory tone to emphasise the insignificance of human life and, with it, the insignificance of his art. As Prospero discovers the futility of his power in the face of mortality, he rediscovers his humanity and comes to renewed understandings of the futility of vengeance. Prospero's forgiveness and granting of freedom in"My charms I'll break, their senses I'll restore, and they shall be themselves.", directly juxtaposed to his initial cruelty, hence portraying his rediscovered humanity. Thus, the intensely meaningful impact of discoveries is shown in Prospero's rediscovered humanity as a result of the intellectual discovery of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

World War II had just ended, the Civil Rights Movement was just getting started, the "Baby Boom" was under way, and women in sports play a very uneven role. In the 1950's men really preferred the masculine role, they wanted to be the man of the house and with that, the best athlete. It was happening all around the world in the 1950's, men wanted to show the ladies who really was in charge, and as a result woman in sports were not fairly treated. Women were able to expand their role as years after the war passed, however, they had to let the man be the one to showcase his talents. Women took on a big role of being the lady of the house, cooking cleaning, but still not much of the time was involved with sports. When the women did play sports, they were degraded and the men had to be in control. This is seen in an article written in Sports Illustrated, saying, "Like marriage, mixed doubles is a give–and–take proposition. The smart team, as in the smart marriage, lets the man appear to be the boss. To be sure, the lady must carry her fair share of the burden–and even more on those not infrequent occasions when she is actually a better player than her partner" (Talbert). This is showing that in marriage when they were playing tennis, that even though she was really the better player that she had to "carry the burden". Regardless of what talents she had, she still wasn't allowed to showcase them. This just goes to show that although she was able to actually play the sport, she always had to let the man be the one to show off his talents. The opportunities for women in sports were slim to none, but those who were fortunate enough to hold higher roles were highly demeaned. It was rather rare for a woman to hold a high role such as assistant coach or even sometimes manager during the 1950's. Men always wanted to show off their masculinity, ... In same paper where he rediscovered the Jarnik's algorithm. The algorithm was rediscovered in 1957 by Loberman and Weinberger, but avoided to be renamed after them. The main idea of Kruskal's algorithms is as follows: Scan all the edges in the increase of weight order; [If any edge is safe, keep it (i.e. add it to the set A)] Kruskal's Algorithm is directly based on generic MST algorithm. It builds MST in the forest. On the initial level, each of the vertex is in its own tree in the forest. Then the algorithm consider each of the edge in turn, order by the increase of weight. • 14. Christianity Rediscovered By Vincent J. Donovan Christianity Rediscovered Chapter One: In the first chapter of "Christianity Rediscovered" by Vincent J. Donovan he is introducing us to the idea that missionaries now have a poor reputation due to their history. He says "History has offered the opportunity to deflect and distort the meaning of missionary work in every age". For a long time a missionary was a person spreading the word of God and after years of doing so we have diminished many different beliefs, practices, cultures and history. At the time it was thought to be the right thing, to spread out and share the gospel to help people find meaning and acceptance. In today's age a missionary is a lot of different things, in many cases it is more focused on the health and physical wellbeing of the people. Many people still share the gospel through missionary work, but in other cases it is more of a material aid. Donovan introduces the book as a voyage of discovery he wants us to put our normal beliefs aside to see his perspective of living a missionaries life and struggling with the fact of if you are helping or hurting. Donovan speaks about the missionaries who came to East Africa after they were taken into slavery. The missionaries thought it would be a good idea to come over and buy the people to save them from harsh lives, so they bought as many as they could. Doing this they also taught them all of their customs and where forced into Christianity instead of their beliefs ways and cultures. This struck off a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rediscoveries are made complicated through having to assess their significance in the changed context over the time passed form the initial discovery. However, initial discoveries are difficult as they can challenge the values of the discoverer. The documentary "Frank Hurley: The Man Who Made History" explores this notion of rediscovery through inviting the audience to discover the story of one of the great imperial explorers Frank Hurley. Karen Joy Fowlers novel "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves" supports this through the story of Rosemary Cooke who was raised with a chimpanzee (Fern) as a sister, but separated from her at a young age, who makes discoveries about her confusing past. By the 4th century the town has been taken by Samnites, a Italian tribe from the inland hills. The site of Pompeii is located in western Italy in a region called Campania, near the Bay of Naples. This location ensured the city's role as a center of commerce. Pompeii proper is enclosed by two miles of walls that encompass 23 acres, though the city itself extended beyond the walls with suburbs that melded into fertile farmlands known for their vineyards and olive orchards. Within this beautiful countryside many wealthy Romans placed their summer homes. However, it was Pompeii's proximity to Mt. Vesuvius that ensured the city's place in history. There was a tremendous revival of classical literature and art, but in the end it was the joining of this with the intellect of the Italian people that lead to the change of the Western World. This period was definitely more than just a rebirth though, it was also an age of new discoveries, both geographic and intellectual. Both of these resulted in changes of tremendous importance for Western civilization. In the economy, for example, there were many innovations that lead to a commercial revolution. There were innovations in banking, accounting, company structure, insurance and commercial law and the invention of commercial capitalism. All of these things worked together to usher in a new world that was very different from that of classical Antiquity but they also laid the foundation for what was to come during the Renaissance period. When looking at the culture during this time there was great influence from the Humanist movement led by Petrarch. There has been some controversy over time as to exactly what the humanist movement was all about. According to Burkhardt the time was a discovery of man, which was in direct contrast to the current secular interests of the time. Modern humanists are defined as someone who has a set of human values, which are normally secular in nature, that are based on a particular conception of many and his potential. ... He states "Amazingly we don't even know how many distinct species have been named or recorded, for the major groups like the bird and mammals, the furies and the featheries, we really do know but for most groups they are on scattered records in different museums and not organised into one computer base." He states that we really don't know the full numbers of animals in the world. We would expect that with the scientific developments and our amazing world facilities, how can we not actually know how many species have been discovered? The planet holds hundreds to thousands of animals and species, human life is trying to contain and control the inhabitants of the earth but human life cannot control and manage something that they don't know exists or how do they know something hasn't gone extinct. • 32. Renaissance Art Research Paper What is Rebirth? The Renaissance, a cultural and historical movement, began in the 15th and 16th Centuries. Throughout the Renaissance, the influence of Ancient Rome was rediscovered after many advances in thought had been lost during the medieval dark ages. The center of this ideological revolution based itself in Italy. Renowned artists involved in the revolution include Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Jan Van Eyck. After hundreds of years, numerous pieces of work which these gentlemen crafted still stand. The Renaissance springboarded numerous, unique styles of art and dramatically impacted modern day art. Throughout the Renaissance, countless artists used individual and unique styles of painting to be able to convey their thoughts and emotions. However, this self–expression would be impossible without advances in oil paints, instead of using the ancient eggshell paints. The benefits of using oil paint entailed a longer period of time before the paint dried. This allowed artists to incorporate more detail into their works, without the paint drying. Using mathematical principles, many artists styled the paintings to exact detail, causing them to be extremely similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 33. Statement Of Purpose: John Tyler Community College I was born in the Philippines, but came here with my family when I was 2 years old. Currently, I am a student at Meadowbrook High School, and I want to go to a college that can accommodate my learning disabilities– but also give me training so that I can get a job after just two years. I like the reciprocal program that John Tyler has with other four year colleges and universities, but it is the extra attention and assistance in my training that interest me the most. The reason that I come to John Tyler Community College is to find my own interests with the basis of technology and art. In the past, art was a symbol of creativity and passion. After that, I discovered computing. And thus, my foreground of technology started to grow a little. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Undoubtedly the Renaissance altered the course of human history, and the effects are still apparent in modern culture. The importance of the Renaissance and it's affect on the modern era can be summarized by American Journalist and Writer P. J. O'Rourke, "Not much was really invented during the Renaissance, if you don't count modern civilization." Families like the Medici's housed artists whose skill is still admired to this day, and scholars who rediscovered lost technology from the Classical era. In the Middle Ages there was little change in Architecture and Art, but during the Renaissance new techniques were invented and discovered which led to improved realism in artwork, and new styles of buildings. "First called the rinascimento, Italian for 'rebirth' the period came to be known by its French name, the Renaissance." This period can also be defined as the rebirth of classical learning, literature, and art. During this Renaissance artists branched away from the restraint of Byzantine Art. • 36. Stimulus Personal Narrative Stimulus 3: "I'd rediscovered the secret to life" It was a raw, dull time of year, nearing the end of November, the kind of drizzly, self–pitying November day when every grain of sand stands out clearly. The frosty clamp of the Canadian winter was just about in full effect, but this day in particular blew its wet emotional gusts all around me. The abrasive flashes of sunlight poured through a blackened sky. I was back at Sentinel Secondary School for my brother; I found it looking strangely newer than when I attended there ten years before. It seemed more sedate than I remembered, more linear and straight–laced, with cramped windows and slick woodwork, as though a coat of polish had been put over everything for preservation. Ah Jason... his Life cracked with a burning passion, he was a monument to resilience. • 38. How Humanism Affected Art in the Renaissance Humanism affected the art of the Renaissance because of how Renaissance artists became increasingly interested with humanist concepts, and because of how they tried to incorporate humanist beliefs into their art. Artists conveyed their humanist beliefs by using new techniques such as perspective, and by painting more realistic figures. In addition, humanism encouraged artists to paint using new secular themes that were rediscovered along with classical art and texts. The artists of the Italian Renaissance expressed the ideals of their time period by painting more secular scenes rather than religious ones, and by using new techniques taken from the art and texts that were discovered during that period. One of the main ways that the art of the Renaissance was affected by humanism was that many artists of the Renaissance began to turn away from religious themes, unlike their predecessors from the Middle Ages. Humanism was embraced by artists of the Renaissance without hesitation. When humanism spread throughout Italy and Northern Europe, there was an eager audience for the new findings of classical traditions and art. In the beginning of the Renaissance, artists used themes that were taken from Renaissance humanist beliefs and philosophies. These themes were mostly secular, and sometimes involved a slight religious aspect, but usually depicted a scene of an ordinary place. • 39. A Study On Obsessive Compulsive Disorder The summer of 2010, my sister was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a walnut pressing on the frontal lobe of her brain. With a hopeful prognosis of slow growth and surgery scheduled in late fall, the outlook was promising. When she went in for surgery the doctors found a lesion instead of the tumor they had diagnosed her with. The seemingly positive news turned dark as they explained they'd need to biopsy the tissue to understand what had caused it. In the middle of my second fall semester at Edmonds Community College, my sister underwent endless scans and tests. When she began experiencing severe migraines, aural hallucinations, seizures, and severe mood destabilization, I drove to as many of her appointments in Seattle as I could and spent weekends with her where she lived with my mother in Centralia. Though we avoided discussing her condition, I couldn't stop imagining the potential fatal outcome. Previously diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, they advised my sister to start an aggressive treatment approach as her O.C.D. was possibly a result of a lesion and their growth would aggravate the disorder. The doctors expected lesion growth and possible appearance of more lesions over time alongside a decline in her cognitive function. Neither my sister nor I handled this news well. While her decline was sharp and her depression set in quickly, I struggled with making it to class and completing my assignments. Each day I pushed myself to be present and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
