1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. PhotoShop
• I used photoshop as I know how to use this piece of software very well therefore
when I wanted to edit photos, create my main products and other bits of editing I
used this.
• While using photoshop, I used various tools and settings to help me edit and
create my products. I used different shape tools, text, camera raw filter, crop tool
and others.
• The advantages of using this software is that there is plenty of options on offer
and easy to follow when doing basic editing and creation of pieces and being able
to save pieces as different files however the disadvantages would be getting use
to the layout of finding different tools and layers.
3. Blogger
• I used blogger as my main source for posting my work and main products.
• While using blogger I learnt how to post and use the different formats and
files to make sure certain posts where in the right format to be shown and
accessed on the blog.
• The advantage is to have all the work saved and posted online without
worrying about using storage on the computer however, relying on free
internet was a disadvantage as if there was no internet I wouldn’t be able
to post or save my work
4. • I used prezi to create and present my forms and conventions
evaluation piece.
• I learnt a lot of different things while creating this piece as this was my
first time using prezi, therefore everything that was there to use I
began to use this time, such as typing in text, order of arrangement
when presenting etc.
• An advantage is that my work could be saved online using this
technology however I had to rely on free internet.
5. Dafont
• I used dafont to search for different fonts which would suit the target
audience and the design for my main products.
• I learnt how to create and aim for certain styles that I know wold look
best whilst thinking about what my target audience would like
• The advantage was that I did not have to restrict myself to the
photoshop pre-sets and I also was able to download the fonts free
from the website however as I was relying on free internet, if I had no
internet that would be my disadvantage.
6. • I used survey monkey to create two of my questionnaires for my
preliminary task and main research for my own magazine.
• I learnt how to format and create my own questions by using the
different styles of answering
• This piece of technology allows you to finalise the results and charts
them in order as a more efficient way for the results to be processed
and evaluated however yet again this needs to be relied on the free
internet provided my the college.
7. • I used slideshare as a way to present certain pieces of my work in a
more professional format for my blog
• I have never used this type of technology before so using it was all
new to me. I learnt how to access it online and embed my work onto
the site to create a slide to share.
• The advantage is that it can be saved and presented online however
there is a need to have internet otherwise it cannot be used.
8. • I used this technology as a way of presenting certain pieces of my work on
my blog such as my various analysis pieces.
•This was my first time using this therefore everything I came across was a
new learning curve for me.
• The advantage was that it is free to use only when using basic settings. It
also can be accessed wherever you need it as long as you have an internet
connection. This technology also posts any work which is produced to the
public therefore anyone can see it
9. Microsoft Word
• I used the software a lot during coursework to type up different textual
pieces to go with pictures or other parts that needed reasons and how I did
something.
• I know this piece of technology software very well as I have used it many
times before therefore I didn’t learn anything new
• The advantages are they have auto correcting methods to help along the way
with grammar and spelling mistakes. They also have a range of formatting
options. The only disadvantage is that this can not be edited anywhere else
than where I saved it to
10. • I used a bridge camera (sony cyber shot HX200v) to take my primary images for the main
products. This allowed me to have high quality photos as well as using the studio with
lighting equipment provided by the college.
• I have previously learnt a lot about using this camera being my own piece of equipment
whilst learning over this years using the lighting equipment in the studio
• The advantage of using all this equipment together is to enable me to take pictures which
are professional and gives me a boost of quality reassurance when editing them in
photoshop. The disadvantage of choosing a studio was to only be restricted to one location
and lighting equipment available while also waiting for a slot to be able to take the pictures.
