2. Before beginning this project, I had very little use of a professional, top
quality camera. I had basic knowledge of how to use them, however
through this project I have learnt about using natural light, using
different compositions and formats and using the focus on a camera
effectively.
3. I already had a higher than average grasp of how to use Photoshop, as I also
study Graphics, and use Photoshop personally at home; however I did
learn some new concepts. I learnt how to use the Quick Selection Tool, to
easily and quickly select certain areas of an image; I learnt how to refine
the edges of an image after using Quick Select, to make sure things such
as hair are copied correctly. I also learnt how to add effects such as drop
shadows to an image, and also how to install fonts from the internet, to be
used in Photoshop.
4. I had never used Quark before, so everything I learnt was new. I learnt how
to set up columns on my page, and use the column guidelines to layout
my text boxes, producing a professional looking magazine layout. I also
learnt how to use the Picture Tool in Quark to import a picture, and
again, use the guidelines provided to arrange the pictures layout
effectively. I also learnt how to use Runaround on an image; using this
meant that if an image was placed say, in the middle of some text, the text
would “run around” the image, and displace itself so the image did not
obstruct the text.
5. I didn’t learn anything new in terms of mobile phones and mobile phone
cameras, however, I did use my mobile to record a video, and then
upload it straight onto YouTube; something which I had never done
before.
