Social Differences Between Democratic And Republican...
The difference between two political parties of the Democratic and Republican are having major
issues. This two parties dominated Americans political area, but there are some differences in their
ideas of social issues.
There is many social difference between the two political parties, but the main difference of this
three social issues are making this two political parties oppose. First, let's see that the most
republican heat that "gay marriage". As a Republican Party badly follow traditional life believe that
the institution of marriage is the foundation of civil society. The union of one man and one woman
must be upheld as the national standard. Also they agree about that it has been proven by both
experience and endless social science studies which traditional marriage is best for children and
society. On the other side, Democratic Party support gay marriage equality and sport the movement
to secure equal treatment under low for same–sex couples who seek the same respect and
responsibilities as other marriage couple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abortion is the most unsupported issue in many religious and society. As we know Democrats give
freedom of most social issues, that's why they give women's right to make decision regarding her
pregnancy including a safe and legal abortion. In sum up, they believe women have right to control
her reproductive choice and can access to affordable family planning. In Republican view, they
agree with the 14 amendment protection apply to unborn children. ''They asset the sanctity of human
life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be

Republicans And Democrats: Differences Between Political...
There are many differences between Republicans and Democrats. This paper is to discuss the
differences between the two political parties. From sensitive topics such as abortion all the way to
cheaper college education and what both parties believe. Me personally I am more on the
democratic side but I also disagree with some stuff, but that is a story for another time.
First we are going to talk about their different beliefs, let us start with abortion. Personally I don't
agree with it and neither do republicans but democrats believe the mother has the right to make the
decision. Also they have very different views on policies on taxes, Democrats believe that taxes
should be higher for the rich population and Republicans believe that there should be equal taxes for
every person no matter what wealth class you're in. They also have very different stand on gay
marriage. Democrats are for gay marriage and their right to adopt while Republicans are completely
against it and do not believe they should also not be able to adopt. Also another major difference is
the topic of health care. Democrats believe that everyone is has the right to health care no matter if
they can or cannot pay it. Republicans believe if you want it pay for ... Show more content on

They put their differences aside on certain topics. Both parties had an equal vote for national
organizations such as the Department of Defense and The National Air and Space Association with
both parties having at least a 70% rate for the organizations. Statistics show that about 90% of the
U.S. population say they are middle class which would explain why no matter the political party
both parties are really interested in middle class issues and solutions. Studies also show that no

Political Differences Between North And South
Differences between the North and South
The motives of the war between the Northern and Southern States had a different meaning to the
civilians and government of these regions. The reasons of the governments were fighting for change
as a whole, and the soldiers motives were more home base. The Southern States wanted to nullify
themselves from the United States Union, whereas the Northern government wanted to weaken the
Southern States to gain control and keep the Union.
To begin with, the states of the north wanted to continue the goals of the Whig Party to gain
economic control over the Southern States. However, the government in the North would not be able
to obtain economic power if the Southern States wanted to separate themselves from

Differences Between Political Parties And Interest Groups
Chomsky, Noam of Media Control expounded two alternative characters of democracy under
similar concept: liberty and authority. Whether a democracy is direct or indirect, an abundance of
factors will always be included in a large population. Such as the United States, political parties and
interest groups are the main factors responsible for many rulings of past governments. Without these
two important elements, American democracy would never have maintained an open government
ruled by the people. PAC and super PAC cannot be missed when speaks of democracy. Political
action committees are "organized for the purpose of raising and spending money to elect and defeat
candidates" (OpenSecrets.org 1). PAC supports certain political parties during ... Show more content

Gender Differences In Political Parties
Should women have the right to an abortion? How should the government combat the issue of
immigration? How should America attempt to solve its criminal justice system? The Democratic
Party and the Republican Party have each provided a variety of methods to address these three
issues. The major political parties are known for having their dissenting opinions on issues. Their
media presents the perspectives of major parties to citizens through the media. The media tends to
have a bias, which leads to citizens receiving only part of the argument from an opposing party. This
predicament forces citizens to research each party's platform to get the full story. Some may even
argue that having the two major political parties with conflicting

Exploring the Differences Between Liberal Democratic, Authoritarian and Totalitarian Political
Systems
Defining political systems is a difficult thing to do as no single system is completely static, they
often change dependant on things like war and trends in regimes, such as the recent insurgence in
'liberal democracies' means that the classifications of systems changes over time. The British
Westminster system is considered to be a 'liberal democracy' however in the Second World War
there were several powers exercised by the government which do not fit with this type of system for
example control was exercised over the media and labour and elections were put off. These powers
were only used as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The citizens elect a representative who will act on their behalf. There is a constitution that regulates
government, within the constitution the rights of the individual are defined, these rights are very
important; as a result liberal democracies allow organised, voluntary groups, such as trade unions
and pressure groups which can operate independent of government. There is at least a degree of
seperation of powers as a method of keeping the system in check with the constitution. Though
liberal democracy is an attempt to allow the masses the opportunity to be decide on collective
issues, by electing a representative to speak for them the emphasise placed on civil liberties makes
this impractical: 'the scope of democracy is limited by constitutional protection of individual rights,
including freedom of assembly, property, religion and speech.' Hague (2004: 35)
The current system in the UK is a liberal democracy.
Authoritarianism is the traditional system of most societies and still exists in many today.
Authoritarian states are non–democratic; they either have a single ruler or a single political party in
power. They work on a system of power 'from above'; public opinion is not taken into consideration.
Individual liberty is considered to be less important than the authority of the ruler. The public are not

Political Differences Between Britain And The United States
The biggest difference between Britain and the United States is the political structure. While the
similarities between the British and American government are uncountable, there are various
differences that are present. Perhaps the most obvious difference between these two country's
political structure is the fact that Britain is a constitutional monarchy while the United States is a
federal republic. This difference sets the foundation for several less apparent differences. In order to
gather an understanding of these differences between the British and American politics, one most
explore each country's unique constitution, branches of government, and political parties. Possibly
the most noticeable difference between the British and American political systems is their
constitutions. A constitution is a body of written and/or unwritten rules, which constitutes the
fundamental law of the country. Unlike in the United States where there is only one written
constitution, Britain has no single written document that could be easily classified as its constitution.
Instead Britain has what are known as constitutional provisions which are various laws created by

to the fact that Britain's constitution is not codified, it is far more flexible when in comparison to the
United States Constitution. This is not to say that Britain is able to effortlessly make changes, as

Differences Between Political Parties And Interest Groups
Both political parties and interest groups play vital roles in the American political process; however,
recent history has shown the growing dominance of interest groups. Political parties seek power by
getting their candidates in office, while interest groups seek power by getting support for their
position on an issue. Although their initial goals are different, both political parties and interest
groups use similar means to influence the political process, such as fundraising and providing
knowledge about issues or candidates. Despite the need for both interest groups and political parties
in the American political system, interest groups have recently become more powerful because of
the weakening of the political parties, the growing need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This decline can be seen in the parties' lack of control in the nominations and campaigns. Due to the
nature of the primary elections, candidates only need to appeal to the voters not the political parties;
consequently, the campaigns have become more candidate–centered. In addition, the significant role
of the media in elections lends to candidates seeking the approval of voters over the parties (Burke).
Moreover, voters today are more apt to split their ballots rather than voting straight along party lines
(Mead). Other evidence of the weakening of political parties was demonstrated by the Tea Party
successes in the Republican primaries for senators during the 2008 campaign season. The victories
of a section of the Republican Party over Republicans who were not backed by the Tea Party faction
shows the weakness in the Republican Party (Mead). Because the strength of political parties has
declined and the need to appeal to the voters is costly, candidates have turned to interest groups for
monetary support in their elections (Bissell); therefore, interest groups now have the power to
influence candidates to support the interest group's

Political Differences : Conservatism And Liberalism In Canada
Canada has been an independent nation for over 150 years, so it makes sense that there has been
numerous changes in the government, since the government has to reflect its society, and as time
changes so does its government. However, some ideologies do not believe it should change in order
to keep up with its time. Oxford Dictionary states that the definition of an ideology is "A system of
ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy."
There are various forms of political ideologies; conservatism and liberalism are being brought up for
discussion about what makes conservatives and liberals so different in Canada. Throughout the
years, the Canadian government has rotated between liberalism and conservatism, these ideologies
share some similarities; however, it can be argued that the significant differences are their political,
social, and economic views. The government determines how well the state will function, the
analogy of the car and driver helps simplify how the government and state correlate. The car
represents the state and the driver represents the government, so depending how well the driver
treats the car determines how well the car will function; for instance, if the driver is not good then
switching drivers will change how the car will work (Brodie, 2014). Through a political lens, it is
evident to see the distinct difference between conservatism and liberalism in Canada. Conservatives

different types of governments concerning majority and minority rule and the elections that are held

In the US the executive and the legislator are independent bodies voted for by the electorate. The
President has a fixed term of 4 years which cannot be dissolved by Congress as you were voted in
by the electorate. However in the UK, the executive can be replaced as it was appointed by the
legislator due to this some argue the Parliamentary system in the UK is less accountable than the US
Presidential system, as accountability is taken by the collective decisions of the cabinet in the UK
opposed to the US where the President is held accountable as an individual, so it is easier to criticise
as you are electing an individual not a party as seen in the UK. This in turn makes it much easier in
the US to hold the executive accountable and oust them from office at the end of their 4 year term as
they had won a popular vote obtaining a majority of 50% or more (Harris and Reiley,1998). In a
SemiPresidentialism nation, accountability is a priority which is why two executives are appointed
in form of the President and the Prime Minister. The President must cooperate and compromise with
the legislature as they are held accountable, which is highly advantageous in a divided liberal nation
such as France, as all matters must be taken into account.
The key difference between Presidentialism, Parliamentarism and SemiPresidentialism is the
separation of power between the executive body and the legislator. The executive, legislator and

Cultural, Political, And Cultural Differences And...
America is a country that allows people freedom and equality. In the Declaration of Independence, it
states that "all men are created equal" and most people agreed with that. However, there were a few
people who thought that slaves were not part of the equality factor. Those people, who were mostly
slave owners, saw the African Americans as property and did not see them as equals. Since there
was such a big difference in views, it created many tensions between the people. Some people
wanted to get rid of slavery and give them freedom and equality, some wanted to get rid of slavery
but not make slaves equal to other people, and others wanted to keep slavery as it is. Mostly, there
was a disagreement between the South and the North and since there is a difference in other factors
such as political and economic, these things began to create tensions and drive them farther apart.
During 1783–1859, there were numerous cultural, political, and religious tensions and differences
between the United States North and South which led to the unforgettable American Civil War. For

One of the tensions and differences between the North and South was the cultural tension. The
cultural difference between the North and the South was very large. George Washington say in his

Gender Differences Of Political Speech
Assignment one: Gender differences in political speech
In the last decades, there is a growing body of research that investigates how men and women use
the language differently. The significance of such research stems from the fact that language is an
essential social tool so that the study of the language would represent a distinctive social perspective
on the study of gender differences (Coates & Johnson, 2001). In other words, the study of gender
differences in language use will shed lights on factors such as situational demands, power access,
and social roles that influence the gendered identity. This paper intends to analyze gender–related
differences in the acceptance speeches delivered by Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. Particularly,
it explores strategies both candidates used not only to discuss their different plans as prospect US
presidents but also reflect their gendered identity.
Coming from different political parties, it is obvious that each candidate would have an entirely
different way of discussing her/his plans for the USA. For instance, at the Democratic National
Convention, Hilary Clinton emphasized, "Our country needs your ideas, energy, and passion. That is
the only way we can turn our progressive platform into real change for America. We wrote it
together – now let 's go out and make it happen together" . Meanwhile, in his speech at the

Hence a situation where everyman is the enemy of every other endeavoring to destroy or subdue
him by force or fraud or both. But such a state is even less in conformity with human desires than
what most of us know .It is Hobbes famous words a state where the life of man is solitary poor,
nasty ,brutish and short. The fear of such a state of things calls into action as a servant of the most
fundamental of all the passions, that of self–preservation, at least a modicum of reason which finds a
solution of the difficulty in social contract. By its terms men agreed to give up their natural liberty to
sovereign authority which in turn gurantees them security, that is immunity from aggression by the
force or fraud of others. It is only through authority of this sovereign that the war of all against all is
held in check and order and security is maintained. (Talcott persons: 91).
In modern times, Tomas Hobbes defined right to life as natural rights which even the sovereign of
the state could not jeopardize. But the name of John Locke is important who treated three rights
(relating to life, liberty and property) as natural rights. Effective protection of the natural rights is
the responsibility of the state .In case the sovereign authority is capable of fulfilling the trust of the
people, the contract may be chosen instead for securing effective protection of natural rights.

Economic And Political Differences Between The Patricians...
Introduction
In the fight for Rome's transfer from a monarchy to a republic, the Roman populace united in its
entirety to achieve one goal, to get rid of the kings. The Roman population consisted of two classes:
The Patricians and The Plebians, in which their unity was crucial in the long struggle of ending the
unjust monarchy. While the plebians were less privileged in the aspects of economics and politics
under the former monarchy, the early Roman Republic witnessed an absolute domination from the
patricians to the economic and political life in Rome. The patricians' oppression put the plebians in
even greater distress than they already suffered under the rule of the kings, which led to an
inevitable revolt, known as the first secession. This paper discusses the economic and political
differences between the patrician and the plebeian classes that ultimately led to the first plebeian
revolt.
Economic and Political Differences Between the Patricians and the Plebians
According to the Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica (1998), "Patricians were members of a group
of citizen families who, in contrast with the Plebeian class, formed a privileged class in early
Rome". With the Roman Republic entering a new era after eradicating the monarchy, the patricians
practiced total control over the Roman affairs and claimed all the economic and political spoils.

Difference Between Interest Groups And Political Parties
According to ushistory.org, there are four types of linkage institutions. Interest groups and political
parties are said to be 'linkage institutions'. In this essay, I will be addressing why it is exactly that
interest groups and political parties fall under the category of linkage institutions, the similarities
and differences between interest groups and political parties, the differences in the roles that interest
groups and political parties play, and which of the two linkage institutions is most important to the
democratic processes. These topics are significant because interest groups and political parties keep
the people involved with government policy by giving people a chance to influence policy in our
country. The main purpose for this essay is to inform the reader of the differences between interest
groups and political parties and how the people can get more involved; more than just simply
casting a vote in elections.
Linkage institutions are defined by Wikipedia as, "The structures that connect the people to the
government." According to chapter eight of the book, a political party is defined as, "An ongoing
coalition of interests joined together in an effort to get its candidates for public office elected under a
common label." In more simple terms, a political party is a group of like–minded individuals that try
to get their candidates, which support their ideas, to get elected. The words 'individuals' and 'try to

No matter how often either house votes against the president's measures, he or she stays. In contrast
a Parliamentary–cabinet government, like in Canada, is both responsible and responsive. If the
House of Commons votes against the current cabinet, that cabinet must step down for a new
government formed by an opposition party or by the peoples vote (Kilcullen, 2000). Another
difference between the American system of government and the Canadian system of government is
hat custom and convention have a far larger part in the Canadian Constitution than the American
Constitution. The American President and his or her job requirements and prerequisites, how to elect
him or her and how to get rid of him or her is written into the constitution which makes it
unchangeable except by a formal constitutional amendment. The type of federalism that the
Canadian system and the American system embody is yet another key difference between the two.
The American system was very much decentralised at the start. The congress was given a list by the
Fathers of Confederation of explicit controls and everything not mentioned I that list belonged to the
states or the people. The states' rights were fundamental as the Fathers realised that the states' rights
caused the civil war and responded accordingly (Kilcullen, 2000). One thing that Canada and The
USA have in common is that the detailed meaning of the written Constitution was and is settled by
the courts. The courts in Canada have interpreted the constitution to narrow federal power and to
widen provincial power. In The USA, however, the courts have interpreted the constitution to widen
federal power and narrow state power. The result of this is that Canada has become more
decentralised and the USA has become more centralised (Forsey,

Difference Between Politics And Political Culture
1.The differences between political opinion and political culture begin with the public. Political
opinion is what and how the public feel about certain policies and issues dealing with political
leaders and generally how the country is running. Political culture on the other hand deals with the
public's norms and values in society. The main difference between political opinion and political
culture are how political culture deals with the religion, history and economy of a nation while
political opinion is the way the people of nation view their nation. A major difference between the
two and probably the largest distinction between them is political opinion is constantly changing
with the ebb and flow of the nation's political climate while political culture tend be stagnant and
rooted in the communities that first started them, being passed down generation to generation
usually dealing with a foqaue or a custom or ritual that is common throughout a specific political
culture. Political culture and opinion also have some similarities, political opinions tie directly into
what political culture you belong too and both deal with the people's view on the politics of
government.
2. Political socialization is the process in which a person gains their political beliefs or values.
Political socialization can be found almost anywhere you look but is most prevalent in the family
home. Most children adopt the political beliefs of their parents even if those beliefs go directly

Political Differences In The Great Gatsby
The regions of America always had a division due to different attitudes and perspectives of people in
said regions–especially in the 1920s. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, the author
emphasizes the contrast between the mindset of people from the Midwest region and people of the
East Coast region. The tension between Midwest and East Coast illustrates the difference of values
in American society and perspective. Fitzgerald depicts displays of wealth as more significant to
people of the East Coast than in the Midwest. In the exposition, Nick Carraway expresses that his
father told him,"'whenever [he] feels like criticizing someone...just remember that all the people in
this world haven't had the advantages [he] had'"(Fitzgerald 1). The author characterizes Nick's
father, a native to the Midwest, as someone who understands that money should not be the defining
factor to judge people, because not everyone has grown up with wealth like Nick and his family. In
contrast, Fitzgerald describes the East Coast population as people who need to show off their money
in order to exhibit their worthiness of attention to others. After Tom "left Chicago", he goes "East in
a fashion that rather took your breath away; for instance, he'd brought down a string of polo ponies
from Lake Forest"(Fitzgerald 6). Fitzgerald exaggerates the extent of Tom's need to show off his
money by declaring that it would make others lose their breaths if they saw the amount of luxurious
items, such as

Political Differences Between Football And Football
"Politics doesn't belong in football" is what I heard my Dad say as a Jeremy Corbyn banner was
raised in the kop. "I watch football to get away from Politics" is a comment I saw in /r/soccer and
that got me thinking, isn't football the worst place to come to get away from politics.
I want to start with my overall point. Politics and Football are intricately intertwined. Politics often
manifests itself through Football, whilst Football has also been used for political propaganda. One of
the ways this is achieved is through local and national identities becoming associated and
represented by Football clubs. This brings us to the first example of politics being intertwined with
Football with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The club not only has become enriched with a political background, but in fact their biggest rivalry
and possibly the biggest rivalry in the world has its political roots. El Clasico is a rivalry defined by
distance, the distance between what the two clubs stand for and represent. With Madrid representing
Spanish nationalism and Barcelona representing Catalan nationalism.
During the Franco regime Catalans saw Madrid as a tool Franco would use to humiliate the city in
another domain. The example most cited in the book Barça was the 1943 Copa Del Rey. Barça held
a 3–0 lead going into the second leg, with a few controversial decisions. The home fans who would
boo the officials would be labeled in the media as 'enemies of the Spanish stat'. Rumoured in this

The Differences Of Alexander Hamilton And Thomas...
In a country founded on the principle of one's right to express their opinion, there have been few
with as polarizing opinions as Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. These founding fathers
each had viewpoints that have remained ingrained in our political system to this day. Hamilton's
desire to increase governmental power, and Jefferson's to keep power in the hands of the populace. It
was these beliefs that led to them forming the United States first two political parties, the Federalists
and the Democratic–Republican party. Despite their difference of opinions both wanted one thing,
the success of the United States. The first major event that highlighted Hamilton and Jefferson's
differences was the Constitutional Convention. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, they would be more capable of looking after the wellbeing of the nation. Hamilton also
argued that there was not a need for two bodies of legislature because having two bodies within the
legislative branch had not been successful in New York, and that the checks between the branches of
government would be sufficient (p. 21). Ultimately, Hamilton would have preferred a more powerful
national government than that finalized by the constitutional convention, yet he still supported the
final document and was a key component of its ratification (p. 22). Jefferson, although not present at
the convention, agreed with the organization of government in the document they had drafted.
However, he had two major concerns with the proposed constitution, the omission of a Bill of
Rights and "the necessity of rotation in office" (p. 23). Jefferson believed that a Bill of Rights was
essential to clearly detail securities that a government should be obligated to provide fairness to its
citizens. Jefferson also viewed "rotation in office" as a necessity. He argued that based upon past
experiences the first elected official would continue to be reelected once in office (p. 23). He saw it
as a problem because if it became common for officials to stay in office it would provide incentive
for foreign powers to interfere with U.S. affairs. Both objections support Jefferson's principle that,

Political Differences Between North And South
The North and South had several contrasting social, economical, and political differences. Some of
the opposing views of the upper states included social differences; which involved women, slavery,
and views of whether slavery should be allowed. Economics were a major deal for each destination,
but they had different focuses. Although the North and South are governed the same way, each had
their own view on politics and beliefs. The differences between the two states ultimately led to a
new revolution in the United States.
Society was extremely different on both sides, which had to do with womens' rights and thoughts on
slavery. During this time, women had little to no rights so, they organized a group called the Woman
Suffrage movement. A Southerner woman, Angelina Grimke, and a Northerner woman, Susan B. ...

The reliance of cotton was a huge deal to the South since it was mainly a single cash crop economy.
Without slaves to process the cotton, it would make a loss of money to the landowners.
"...slaveholders viewed slaves as property, not as people. (book 387) Because of this, the slaves were
not looked at with sympathy, but just as another way to earn money. The North did not rely on slave
labor, but had skilled workers who earned money– unlike slaves who had to work without pay. The
North relied on manufacturing, with this they could produce more products. "Southern industry
faced stiff competition from the North and from England, both of which could produce many goods
more cheaply.".(Book 381). Transportation was another major advancement for economy, for both
North and South. "The industrial Revolution was an increase production brought up by the use of
machines and characterized by the use of new energy sources." (crash course 32) With this new
invention it increased production with industries and farmers by being able to transport

Political Differences Between England And Russia
Previously, during the Early Middle Ages (500–1350), Western Europe went through a time of
Feudalism and Manorialism, and many political, economic, social, and several other, changes were
made. Then, during the Late Middle Ages (1300–1600), Western Europe was truly starting to form
and become its own territory. At the same time, Eastern European Russia was just beginning to
form, and it soon became one of the top civilizations. These two European territories were similar
and different. First, England and Russia had their similarities and differences politically. Next, the
two parts of Europe were extremely similar economically, albeit they had their differences as well.

In England, there were guilds and leagues, while on the contrary, Russia did not. A guild was a
medieval association of people of the same occupation that worked together to control wages and
prices. A league was a medieval group of people formed to promote and protect trade. Leagues also
made sure that people would buy products within the country. To do that, leagues would raise prices
on all imported goods, and they established a common measurement and weight system. Guilds and
leagues were used to help monitor the economy and keep everything inside England. Russia did not
have guilds nor leagues; their economy was based on estates. However, in the same fashion, both
Russian and English economies were agrarian. If something is agrarian, it means that it is
agriculturally based. The difference between the two economies, however, is that the West was
commercial, while the East was communal. Commercial is buying and selling, while communal is
for the community. Russia was based on the community, and was therefore self–sufficient. With
commercial agriculture, England depended on others to buy their crops, and so they were not self–
sufficient. The English use of guilds and leagues and being commercially based while Russia being
almost the complete opposite, made each of the economies distinct. The only true resemblance
between English and Russian economies was that they were both

Reflective Essay: Differences Between Political Parties...
Do people really need to belong to a political party or participate in an interest group to be defined?
What if you personally had a differing opinion on a topic than the political party you belonged to but
had to abide by party rules therefore going against your own beliefs? For these reasons I do not side
with a political party or participate within interest groups. I like to hold my own ideals and beliefs
by gathering information, internalizing it, and making the best educated/moral choices given a
certain circumstance. Therefore I do not belong to any one group because I like to govern what I

"There is broad agreement that a person's identification with a political party is caused by
upbringing, ethnicity, race, geographic location, and socioeconomic status. A person also identifies
with a party because of ideology or positions on important issues. "(Lenz and Holman, 2013) As I
alluded to my upbringing never forced me to identify with one political group over another. I was
exposed to them through family, school, media, etc., but was allowed to think freely. Jumping to

Assess The Difference Between The US Political System
Similarities & Differences Between the U.K. & U.S. Political Systems
Introduction
The political system in the USA is claimed to be inspired by the British system. Albeit similar in
some ways it differs in many important aspects.
The British operate with a democratic parliamentary government, headed by a prime minister and
monarch. The U.S. is governed by a federal constitutional republic having three branches of
government, i.e. the executive, legislative, and judicial all sharing powers.
Notwithstanding these differences, both have a lot in common, such dual house legislatures and
prominent political parties.

economic issues whilst in UK politics Conservative can be viewed as mainstream right–wing,
especially on economic issues.
The term Liberal in the US is often viewed as generally being Left Wing and in the UK as centrist
In the US it is perceived that all those running for office must emphasise their patriotism while in
the UK it is assumed that anyone who wants to run for national office cares for their country.
In the US the national flag holds a special place in the political heart of the nation being revered
with many seeking criminalisation of those that burn or defame it, while in the UK the UK national
flag of the four constituent nations forming the UK is seldom prominent at political events and is not
held with the same regard or reverence as to that of the US.
US politicians often wear pin badges of the national flag, especially since 9/11 while in the UK
politicians would seldom if ever wear a pin badge portraying the national UK flag as a result of the
wide church of nationalism within the four constituent nations of the UK. The US is one country
containing lots of separate states the UK is four individual countries with varying ideals, aspirations

Political Conflicts And Differences Between Hinduism And...
INTRODUCTION: Religious differences have plagued South Asian countries for centuries. "Inter–
religious violence result from horizontal inequalities and overlapping religious and ethnic group
boundaries that, in the context of tense political transformation, consequently breed inter–religious
grievances and violence" (Basedau, 2013). In simpler terms, inter–religious violence is an act of
violence committed by one group of religious followers against another group of religious followers
or institutions. It is an ongoing issue among Hindus and Muslims especially in India. India is home
to roughly 80% Hindus, and about 14% Muslims, which leads to a lot of religious tensions between
the two groups (Abernethy, 2002). Despite having a constitution that allows for freedom of speech
and religion, the battle for wanting to be the superior religion has always been prevalent. Religion is
an important aspect of South Asian society and many want to confide to traditions and religion
whether it is to make a personal choice or a political choice. This paper will focus on the differences
and similarities between Hindus and Muslims and how to create a balance between these religions to
have open lines of communication.
DIFFERENCES:
Hinduism and Islam are two of the most popular and common religions in the world. Despite their
popularity, they have their differences in regard to place of worship, and their history. A majority of
these differences go back to the medieval times, when the

Differences Of Political Parties In The United States
If you go ask any registered voter what party they're in they will most likely tell you Republican or
Democrat and sometimes they'll also give you an extensive list of reasons why you should be too.
But if you went back and asked our first president, George Washington, what political party he
belongs to he would tell you that he isn't in one. Before Washington stepped down from office, he
left us with two words of advice and they are: do not get involved with foreign affairs and do not
create political parties. The first we listened to Washington's advice and created the Monroe
Doctrine, but the second Washington stepped down Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson had
different things in mind than what Washington had intended for the country. ... Show more content

Political parties have split America into three groups: Democrats, Republicans, and other. America
has always had a two–party system which is when there are two major parties that stand out from
the rest. It's made America resort to a type of sectionalism where you see all the Democrats in urban
areas, Republicans in rural areas, and the others spread out throughout the country. Political parties
also make the country almost bias in a way. From the start you can only see things the way your
party tells you too, or that's the way it seems. The parties make you believe radically were if you
agree with one party, but identify with another you are seen as indecisive. There are so many topics
in politics how can someone just agree with everything one group says? The country is split on all
topics and it needs to stop. A nation is a group of people who come together to live alongside of one
another. We need to find a way to unite the country again. I believe we need to either find a good
balance between the parties or get rid of them. Political parties aren't necessarily a bad thing, but
there needs to be a limit to how far these parties influence the American

them to do that because they thought that the constitution wouldn't protect the individual rights the
people have that it would just take them away. Also the Federalist wanted a strong central

government. To Benjamin Franklin, and Alexander Hamilton they said that they wanted the power

Political Differences Between North And South
In the 1800s, the United States was still growing with improvements of technology and
transportations in different regions. The regions, such as the North and the South, had different
techniques and routines in their daily lives yet they shared some similarities such as reactions to
minority groups. Because of this, conflicts grew over the years as northerners and southerners were
migrating to the West. The North and the South had many differences relating to work and life
styles. Although the North and the South relied on farms, the North turned to factories since
industrialization started to grow. These factories produced wealth by manufacturing goods, and they
were also employed mostly by immigrants from Europe. However, the South relied on plantations

What Is The Difference Between Political Patronage And Merit
In looking at how political patronage and merit system and how they differ the answer is simple.
However, there is much controversy in both. According to The Craft of Public Administration,
written by George Berkley and John Rouse states that, "The selection of civil servants by merit and
by political patronage are not mutually exclusives". What this is basically saying is that while the
two may have the same relation to each other political patronage and the merit system limits control
and can exclude others from participation. In this paper I will discuss the history of political
patronage and merit system, attempt to explain how they differ, and why both are of relative
importance to the other. Political appointment began early on with the 2nd president feeling
obligated to hand his daughter husband a job. Thus beginning the loss of confidence held by the

election involving Hillary Clinton. However, it must be understood that the type of political
patronage that she was involved in was done on a more globalized scale and involved a foundation

two power houses. For instance the way that these cities were governed and their political
procedures and functions were quite different from each other. One major difference between the
two cities was the way in which their king or leaders were chosen. The process in which Athens
elected their leader is referred to as limited democracy. It was limited democracy because not all the

Sparta was ruled by a king or at some point two kings. These two kings were from two separate
families of royalty and neither of them had absolute power. The king or kings had to be consulted by
the Ephors. The Ephors had a lot of power and authority in the Spartan government. They were a
group of five elders, men over the age of 30 who would serve in this position for a year. They had
the power to bring up charges against anyone in Sparta, including the king. Unlike Athens who was
set on trying to establish a peaceful democratic atmosphere; Sparta was a lot more militaristic and
strict. One of the Spartan government's main priorities was the strength of the Spartan army. They
believed that strength, endurance and numbers were a key part in a successful and powerful army.
Therefore every Spartan boy at the age of seven would be taken away from their mothers and put
into training for the next 13 years. Spartan elders and kings were also very serious about the
preservation of the Spartan's history, culture and way of life. This is why they did not encourage
foreigners to visit Sparta or anything that may corrupt their way of life. Sparta did not leave behind
much art, literature or historic artifacts; but they considered their everyday life or the way that they
lived to be a masterpiece all its own. Despite their many political and other

The only issue that I can state regarding political perspective differences is the idea of free–tuition

Philosophical Differences Between Political Parties
In the United States we are divided by the left and right side on the political spectrum; even further
divided into political parties such as Republicans, on the right, and Democrats, on the left side.
These two political parties show philosophical differences through their viewpoints on major topics
such as the economy, separation of church and state, abortion, and gun control. Concerning the
debate on our economy, republicans generally believe strongly in the power of a free market system,
reduced income tax rate, more spending from the people, and less spending from the government.

Democrats are pushing for this because in the 90's when taxes were set up like this, the economy
was very strong, but, "in the seven years since, Republicans have produced $3.8 trillion in new debt

to create equality in the economy with taxes. Along with progressive taxation, democrats are more
favorable towards government spending, especially for things such as social security and entitlement
programs that help the masses. The Democratic Party would like a more regulated economy where
the federal government steps in to create balance and equality. The next topic that is debated
between the Republican and Democratic parties is the separation of church and state. This is defined
by the detachment of the government when dealing with religion. The Establishment Clause and the
Free Exercise Clause both enforce the idea that the people have the right to explore and live out their
religion of choice while have neutrality in the federal government.
Contradictory to these clauses, the Republican Party wants to eliminate the separation that has been
created between the government and the church because Republicans tend to

  • 3. Republicans And Democrats: Differences Between Political... There are many differences between Republicans and Democrats. This paper is to discuss the differences between the two political parties. From sensitive topics such as abortion all the way to cheaper college education and what both parties believe. Me personally I am more on the democratic side but I also disagree with some stuff, but that is a story for another time. First we are going to talk about their different beliefs, let us start with abortion. Personally I don't agree with it and neither do republicans but democrats believe the mother has the right to make the decision. Also they have very different views on policies on taxes, Democrats believe that taxes should be higher for the rich population and Republicans believe that there should be equal taxes for every person no matter what wealth class you're in. They also have very different stand on gay marriage. Democrats are for gay marriage and their right to adopt while Republicans are completely against it and do not believe they should also not be able to adopt. Also another major difference is the topic of health care. Democrats believe that everyone is has the right to health care no matter if they can or cannot pay it. Republicans believe if you want it pay for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They put their differences aside on certain topics. Both parties had an equal vote for national organizations such as the Department of Defense and The National Air and Space Association with both parties having at least a 70% rate for the organizations. Statistics show that about 90% of the U.S. population say they are middle class which would explain why no matter the political party both parties are really interested in middle class issues and solutions. Studies also show that no matter the political beliefs of a person both parties show a lack of interest in issues other countries and believe we should not spend so much to help people in countries other than the ... Political Differences Between North And South Differences between the North and South The motives of the war between the Northern and Southern States had a different meaning to the civilians and government of these regions. The reasons of the governments were fighting for change as a whole, and the soldiers motives were more home base. The Southern States wanted to nullify themselves from the United States Union, whereas the Northern government wanted to weaken the Southern States to gain control and keep the Union. To begin with, the states of the north wanted to continue the goals of the Whig Party to gain economic control over the Southern States. • 9. Differences Between Political Parties And Interest Groups Chomsky, Noam of Media Control expounded two alternative characters of democracy under similar concept: liberty and authority. Whether a democracy is direct or indirect, an abundance of factors will always be included in a large population. Such as the United States, political parties and interest groups are the main factors responsible for many rulings of past governments. Without these two important elements, American democracy would never have maintained an open government ruled by the people. PAC and super PAC cannot be missed when speaks of democracy. • 11. Gender Differences In Political Parties Should women have the right to an abortion? How should the government combat the issue of immigration? How should America attempt to solve its criminal justice system? The Democratic Party and the Republican Party have each provided a variety of methods to address these three issues. The major political parties are known for having their dissenting opinions on issues. Their media presents the perspectives of major parties to citizens through the media. The media tends to have a bias, which leads to citizens receiving only part of the argument from an opposing party. This predicament forces citizens to research each party's platform to get the full story. Some may even argue that having the two major political parties with conflicting ... Exploring the Differences Between Liberal Democratic, Authoritarian and Totalitarian Political Systems Defining political systems is a difficult thing to do as no single system is completely static, they often change dependant on things like war and trends in regimes, such as the recent insurgence in 'liberal democracies' means that the classifications of systems changes over time. The British Westminster system is considered to be a 'liberal democracy' however in the Second World War there were several powers exercised by the government which do not fit with this type of system for example control was exercised over the media and labour and elections were put off. These powers were only used as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The citizens elect a representative who will act on their behalf. There is a constitution that regulates government, within the constitution the rights of the individual are defined, these rights are very important; as a result liberal democracies allow organised, voluntary groups, such as trade unions and pressure groups which can operate independent of government. There is at least a degree of seperation of powers as a method of keeping the system in check with the constitution. Though liberal democracy is an attempt to allow the masses the opportunity to be decide on collective issues, by electing a representative to speak for them the emphasise placed on civil liberties makes this impractical: 'the scope of democracy is limited by constitutional protection of individual rights, including freedom of assembly, property, religion and speech.' Hague (2004: 35) The current system in the UK is a liberal democracy. Authoritarianism is the traditional system of most societies and still exists in many today. Authoritarian states are non–democratic; they either have a single ruler or a single political party in power. • 17. Political Differences Between Britain And The United States The biggest difference between Britain and the United States is the political structure. While the similarities between the British and American government are uncountable, there are various differences that are present. Perhaps the most obvious difference between these two country's political structure is the fact that Britain is a constitutional monarchy while the United States is a federal republic. This difference sets the foundation for several less apparent differences. In order to gather an understanding of these differences between the British and American politics, one most explore each country's unique constitution, branches of government, and political parties. Possibly the most noticeable difference between the British and American political systems is their constitutions. A constitution is a body of written and/or unwritten rules, which constitutes the fundamental law of the country. Unlike in the United States where there is only one written constitution, Britain has no single written document that could be easily classified as its constitution. • 19. Differences Between Political Parties And Interest Groups Both political parties and interest groups play vital roles in the American political process; however, recent history has shown the growing dominance of interest groups. Political parties seek power by getting their candidates in office, while interest groups seek power by getting support for their position on an issue. Although their initial goals are different, both political parties and interest groups use similar means to influence the political process, such as fundraising and providing knowledge about issues or candidates. Despite the need for both interest groups and political parties in the American political system, interest groups have recently become more powerful because of the weakening of the political parties, the growing need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This decline can be seen in the parties' lack of control in the nominations and campaigns. Due to the nature of the primary elections, candidates only need to appeal to the voters not the political parties; consequently, the campaigns have become more candidate–centered. In addition, the significant role of the media in elections lends to candidates seeking the approval of voters over the parties (Burke). Moreover, voters today are more apt to split their ballots rather than voting straight along party lines (Mead). Other evidence of the weakening of political parties was demonstrated by the Tea Party successes in the Republican primaries for senators during the 2008 campaign season. The victories of a section of the Republican Party over Republicans who were not backed by the Tea Party faction shows the weakness in the Republican Party (Mead). Because the strength of political parties has declined and the need to appeal to the voters is costly, candidates have turned to interest groups for monetary support in their elections (Bissell); therefore, interest groups now have the power to influence candidates to support the interest group's ... • 21. Political Differences : Conservatism And Liberalism In Canada Canada has been an independent nation for over 150 years, so it makes sense that there has been numerous changes in the government, since the government has to reflect its society, and as time changes so does its government. However, some ideologies do not believe it should change in order to keep up with its time. Oxford Dictionary states that the definition of an ideology is "A system of ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy." There are various forms of political ideologies; conservatism and liberalism are being brought up for discussion about what makes conservatives and liberals so different in Canada. Throughout the years, the Canadian government has rotated between liberalism and conservatism, these ideologies share some similarities; however, it can be argued that the significant differences are their political, social, and economic views. The government determines how well the state will function, the analogy of the car and driver helps simplify how the government and state correlate. The car represents the state and the driver represents the government, so depending how well the driver treats the car determines how well the car will function; for instance, if the driver is not good then switching drivers will change how the car will work (Brodie, 2014). Through a political lens, it is evident to see the distinct difference between conservatism and liberalism in Canada. Conservatives are right wing on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. What Are the Most Important Differences Between... What are the most important differences between Parliamentarism, Presidentialism and Semi–Presidentialism and what political implications follow from these differences? In this essay, I will be identifying the underlying differences between the political systems of Parliamentarism, Presidentialism and Semi–Presidentialism. This will include identifying the different types of governments concerning majority and minority rule and the elections that are held in the three democratic systems above, accountability of the executive and legislator, and finally the separation of power between the executive and the legislator of a state. Moreover I will be examining the political implications these all hold for each of the three democratic states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the US the executive and the legislator are independent bodies voted for by the electorate. The President has a fixed term of 4 years which cannot be dissolved by Congress as you were voted in by the electorate. However in the UK, the executive can be replaced as it was appointed by the legislator due to this some argue the Parliamentary system in the UK is less accountable than the US Presidential system, as accountability is taken by the collective decisions of the cabinet in the UK opposed to the US where the President is held accountable as an individual, so it is easier to criticise as you are electing an individual not a party as seen in the UK. This in turn makes it much easier in the US to hold the executive accountable and oust them from office at the end of their 4 year term as they had won a popular vote obtaining a majority of 50% or more (Harris and Reiley,1998). In a SemiPresidentialism nation, accountability is a priority which is why two executives are appointed in form of the President and the Prime Minister. The President must cooperate and compromise with the legislature as they are held accountable, which is highly advantageous in a divided liberal nation such as France, as all matters must be taken into account. The key difference between Presidentialism, Parliamentarism and SemiPresidentialism is the separation of power between the executive body and the legislator. The executive, legislator and ... • 25. Cultural, Political, And Cultural Differences And... America is a country that allows people freedom and equality. In the Declaration of Independence, it states that "all men are created equal" and most people agreed with that. However, there were a few people who thought that slaves were not part of the equality factor. Those people, who were mostly slave owners, saw the African Americans as property and did not see them as equals. Since there was such a big difference in views, it created many tensions between the people. Some people wanted to get rid of slavery and give them freedom and equality, some wanted to get rid of slavery but not make slaves equal to other people, and others wanted to keep slavery as it is. Mostly, there was a disagreement between the South and the North and since there is a difference in other factors such as political and economic, these things began to create tensions and drive them farther apart. During 1783–1859, there were numerous cultural, political, and religious tensions and differences between the United States North and South which led to the unforgettable American Civil War. For this essay, I will be using six sources to support my thesis. One of the tensions and differences between the North and South was the cultural tension. The cultural difference between the North and the South was very large. I have also included veteran discharge statistics for the years between 2011 and 2015. I believe that this number is important to be included in the employment and diversity comparisons by county and nationwide. While Lucas and Summit are similar across the board it is evident that Meigs County is more typical of the Appalachian rural Ohio resident. The 2018 race is rematch for Brown and Mandel. Mandel lost to Brown by 6 full points 50.7% to 44.7%. The question will be if the same voting patterns that led Senator Portman into office Senator Portman has been in office since 2011 and Senator Brown since 2007, the question will be can Josh Mandel who lost by 6 points 6 years ago use his knowledge gained from his time in the State office, pull the same demographic and President Trump and keep the momentum that Senator Portman gained for the Republican Party? According to the recent polls yes. Josh Mandel is making headway. The change in support for Mandel is statewide in the areas where Trump did well. Is this going to a pattern for the 2018 cycle overall? I would say it depends on the candidate. With endorsements from organizations such as the highly conservative Citizens United PAC President David Bossie who called "Mandel a 'conservative leader' and 'principled outsider' who will fight for President Trump's agenda if he defeats Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in 2018". Predicting who is going to win a political election has been referred to with slang from everything of a horse race to a crap shoot. • 29. Gender Differences Of Political Speech Assignment one: Gender differences in political speech In the last decades, there is a growing body of research that investigates how men and women use the language differently. The significance of such research stems from the fact that language is an essential social tool so that the study of the language would represent a distinctive social perspective on the study of gender differences (Coates & Johnson, 2001). In other words, the study of gender differences in language use will shed lights on factors such as situational demands, power access, and social roles that influence the gendered identity. This paper intends to analyze gender–related differences in the acceptance speeches delivered by Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. Particularly, it explores strategies both candidates used not only to discuss their different plans as prospect US presidents but also reflect their gendered identity. Coming from different political parties, it is obvious that each candidate would have an entirely different way of discussing her/his plans for the USA. For instance, at the Democratic National Convention, Hilary Clinton emphasized, "Our country needs your ideas, energy, and passion. That is the only way we can turn our progressive platform into real change for America. We wrote it together – now let 's go out and make it happen together" . Meanwhile, in his speech at the Republican Nation Convention, Donald Trump indicated, "Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fear of such a state of things calls into action as a servant of the most fundamental of all the passions, that of self–preservation, at least a modicum of reason which finds a solution of the difficulty in social contract. It is only through authority of this sovereign that the war of all against all is held in check and order and security is maintained. (Talcott persons: 91). In modern times, Tomas Hobbes defined right to life as natural rights which even the sovereign of the state could not jeopardize. But the name of John Locke is important who treated three rights (relating to life, liberty and property) as natural rights. Effective protection of the natural rights is the responsibility of the state .In case the sovereign authority is capable of fulfilling the trust of the people, the contract may be chosen instead for securing effective protection of natural rights. • 35. Economic And Political Differences Between The Patricians... Introduction In the fight for Rome's transfer from a monarchy to a republic, the Roman populace united in its entirety to achieve one goal, to get rid of the kings. The Roman population consisted of two classes: The Patricians and The Plebians, in which their unity was crucial in the long struggle of ending the unjust monarchy. While the plebians were less privileged in the aspects of economics and politics under the former monarchy, the early Roman Republic witnessed an absolute domination from the patricians to the economic and political life in Rome. The patricians' oppression put the plebians in even greater distress than they already suffered under the rule of the kings, which led to an inevitable revolt, known as the first secession. This paper discusses the economic and political differences between the patrician and the plebeian classes that ultimately led to the first plebeian revolt. Economic and Political Differences Between the Patricians and the Plebians According to the Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica (1998), "Patricians were members of a group of citizen families who, in contrast with the Plebeian class, formed a privileged class in early Rome". With the Roman Republic entering a new era after eradicating the monarchy, the patricians practiced total control over the Roman affairs and claimed all the economic and political spoils. • 37. Difference Between Interest Groups And Political Parties According to ushistory.org, there are four types of linkage institutions. Interest groups and political parties are said to be 'linkage institutions'. In this essay, I will be addressing why it is exactly that interest groups and political parties fall under the category of linkage institutions, the similarities and differences between interest groups and political parties, the differences in the roles that interest groups and political parties play, and which of the two linkage institutions is most important to the democratic processes. These topics are significant because interest groups and political parties keep the people involved with government policy by giving people a chance to influence policy in our country. The main purpose for this essay is to inform the reader of the differences between interest groups and political parties and how the people can get more involved; more than just simply casting a vote in elections. Linkage institutions are defined by Wikipedia as, "The structures that connect the people to the government." According to chapter eight of the book, a political party is defined as, "An ongoing coalition of interests joined together in an effort to get its candidates for public office elected under a common label." In more simple terms, a political party is a group of like–minded individuals that try to get their candidates, which support their ideas, to get elected. The USA and Canada not only share similar quality lifestyles but also cultures and values that are the result of a common colonial history. And yet if one looks at the political systems in each country which serves to maintain this quality of lifestyle great difference would be seen between each one. To understand these differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter how often either house votes against the president's measures, he or she stays. In contrast a Parliamentary–cabinet government, like in Canada, is both responsible and responsive. If the House of Commons votes against the current cabinet, that cabinet must step down for a new government formed by an opposition party or by the peoples vote (Kilcullen, 2000). Another difference between the American system of government and the Canadian system of government is hat custom and convention have a far larger part in the Canadian Constitution than the American Constitution. The American President and his or her job requirements and prerequisites, how to elect him or her and how to get rid of him or her is written into the constitution which makes it unchangeable except by a formal constitutional amendment. The type of federalism that the Canadian system and the American system embody is yet another key difference between the two. The American system was very much decentralised at the start. The congress was given a list by the Fathers of Confederation of explicit controls and everything not mentioned I that list belonged to the states or the people. The states' rights were fundamental as the Fathers realised that the states' rights caused the civil war and responded accordingly (Kilcullen, 2000). One thing that Canada and The USA have in common is that the detailed meaning of the written Constitution was and is settled by the courts. The courts in Canada have interpreted the constitution to narrow federal power and to widen provincial power. In The USA, however, the courts have interpreted the constitution to widen federal power and narrow state power. The result of this is that Canada has become more decentralised and the USA has become more centralised (Forsey, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Difference Between Politics And Political Culture 1.The differences between political opinion and political culture begin with the public. Political opinion is what and how the public feel about certain policies and issues dealing with political leaders and generally how the country is running. Political culture on the other hand deals with the public's norms and values in society. The main difference between political opinion and political culture are how political culture deals with the religion, history and economy of a nation while political opinion is the way the people of nation view their nation. A major difference between the two and probably the largest distinction between them is political opinion is constantly changing with the ebb and flow of the nation's political climate while political culture tend be stagnant and rooted in the communities that first started them, being passed down generation to generation usually dealing with a foqaue or a custom or ritual that is common throughout a specific political culture. Political culture and opinion also have some similarities, political opinions tie directly into what political culture you belong too and both deal with the people's view on the politics of government. 2. • 45. Political Differences In The Great Gatsby The regions of America always had a division due to different attitudes and perspectives of people in said regions–especially in the 1920s. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, the author emphasizes the contrast between the mindset of people from the Midwest region and people of the East Coast region. The tension between Midwest and East Coast illustrates the difference of values in American society and perspective. Fitzgerald depicts displays of wealth as more significant to people of the East Coast than in the Midwest. In the exposition, Nick Carraway expresses that his father told him,"'whenever [he] feels like criticizing someone...just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages [he] had'"(Fitzgerald 1). The author characterizes Nick's father, a native to the Midwest, as someone who understands that money should not be the defining factor to judge people, because not everyone has grown up with wealth like Nick and his family. In contrast, Fitzgerald describes the East Coast population as people who need to show off their money in order to exhibit their worthiness of attention to others. After Tom "left Chicago", he goes "East in a fashion that rather took your breath away; for instance, he'd brought down a string of polo ponies from Lake Forest"(Fitzgerald 6). "I watch football to get away from Politics" is a comment I saw in /r/soccer and that got me thinking, isn't football the worst place to come to get away from politics. I want to start with my overall point. Politics and Football are intricately intertwined. Politics often manifests itself through Football, whilst Football has also been used for political propaganda. One of the ways this is achieved is through local and national identities becoming associated and represented by Football clubs. This brings us to the first example of politics being intertwined with Football with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. The club not only has become enriched with a political background, but in fact their biggest rivalry and possibly the biggest rivalry in the world has its political roots. El Clasico is a rivalry defined by distance, the distance between what the two clubs stand for and represent. With Madrid representing Spanish nationalism and Barcelona representing Catalan nationalism. During the Franco regime Catalans saw Madrid as a tool Franco would use to humiliate the city in another domain. The example most cited in the book Barça was the 1943 Copa Del Rey. Barça held a 3–0 lead going into the second leg, with a few controversial decisions. The home fans who would boo the officials would be labeled in the media as 'enemies of the Spanish stat'. In a country founded on the principle of one's right to express their opinion, there have been few with as polarizing opinions as Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. These founding fathers each had viewpoints that have remained ingrained in our political system to this day. Hamilton's desire to increase governmental power, and Jefferson's to keep power in the hands of the populace. It was these beliefs that led to them forming the United States first two political parties, the Federalists and the Democratic–Republican party. Therefore, they would be more capable of looking after the wellbeing of the nation. Hamilton also argued that there was not a need for two bodies of legislature because having two bodies within the legislative branch had not been successful in New York, and that the checks between the branches of government would be sufficient (p. 21). Ultimately, Hamilton would have preferred a more powerful national government than that finalized by the constitutional convention, yet he still supported the final document and was a key component of its ratification (p. 22). Jefferson, although not present at the convention, agreed with the organization of government in the document they had drafted. However, he had two major concerns with the proposed constitution, the omission of a Bill of Rights and "the necessity of rotation in office" (p. 23). Jefferson believed that a Bill of Rights was essential to clearly detail securities that a government should be obligated to provide fairness to its citizens. Jefferson also viewed "rotation in office" as a necessity. He argued that based upon past experiences the first elected official would continue to be reelected once in office (p. 23). "Inter– religious violence result from horizontal inequalities and overlapping religious and ethnic group boundaries that, in the context of tense political transformation, consequently breed inter–religious grievances and violence" (Basedau, 2013). In simpler terms, inter–religious violence is an act of violence committed by one group of religious followers against another group of religious followers or institutions. It is an ongoing issue among Hindus and Muslims especially in India. India is home to roughly 80% Hindus, and about 14% Muslims, which leads to a lot of religious tensions between the two groups (Abernethy, 2002). Despite having a constitution that allows for freedom of speech and religion, the battle for wanting to be the superior religion has always been prevalent. However, there is much controversy in both. According to The Craft of Public Administration, written by George Berkley and John Rouse states that, "The selection of civil servants by merit and by political patronage are not mutually exclusives". What this is basically saying is that while the two may have the same relation to each other political patronage and the merit system limits control and can exclude others from participation. In this paper I will discuss the history of political patronage and merit system, attempt to explain how they differ, and why both are of relative importance to the other. Political appointment began early on with the 2nd president feeling obligated to hand his daughter husband a job. Thus beginning the loss of confidence held by the public in the political arena. It was not until after the assassination of James Garfield that changes would take place beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to know the just what political patronage is. Simply put it is the privilege of special treatment, recompenses such as public jobs, contracts, subsidies, benefits by a person in office or someone who is trying to gain an office. In America this example of patronage was seen in this last election involving Hillary Clinton. However, it must be understood that the type of political patronage that she was involved in was done on a more globalized scale and involved a foundation created by Hillary and her husband, former president, Bill Clinton. Leaked e–mail are proving that everything thing is for sale in the White House, even the seat next to President Barak Obama at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Political Differences Of SPARTAAnd Athenian POLITICAL DIFFERENCES OF SPARTAAND ATHENS Athens and Sparta were two of the most powerful and well known cities among all the Greek nations. Most would find it easier to find more similarities among these two groups of mighty people. But there are some differences between these two power houses. For instance the way that these cities were governed and their political procedures and functions were quite different from each other. One major difference between the two cities was the way in which their king or leaders were chosen. The process in which Athens elected their leader is referred to as limited democracy. It was limited democracy because not all the people in the city state were allowed to participate in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sparta was ruled by a king or at some point two kings. These two kings were from two separate families of royalty and neither of them had absolute power. The king or kings had to be consulted by the Ephors. The Ephors had a lot of power and authority in the Spartan government. They were a group of five elders, men over the age of 30 who would serve in this position for a year. They had the power to bring up charges against anyone in Sparta, including the king. Unlike Athens who was set on trying to establish a peaceful democratic atmosphere; Sparta was a lot more militaristic and strict. One of the Spartan government's main priorities was the strength of the Spartan army. They believed that strength, endurance and numbers were a key part in a successful and powerful army. Therefore every Spartan boy at the age of seven would be taken away from their mothers and put into training for the next 13 years. Spartan elders and kings were also very serious about the preservation of the Spartan's history, culture and way of life. This is why they did not encourage foreigners to visit Sparta or anything that may corrupt their way of life. Sparta did not leave behind much art, literature or historic artifacts; but they considered their everyday life or the way that they lived to be a masterpiece all its own. Despite their many political and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Political Perspective Differences c. Where do you see the greatest differences between you and your district? How might these differences produce contrasting political perspectives (If it's helpful, feel free to use example issues like taxation, immigration, abortion, voter ID laws, etc.)? (3 pts) Between my personal background and the ideology of my district, there is not much of an enormous difference that I can fully address. The only issue that I can state regarding political perspective differences is the idea of free–tuition for students. In this case, I believe that giving free–tuition for all students would just drive up competition for a higher career much harder if everyone holds a bachelors or higher. Since District 30 holds a very high standing for an ideology that involves liberalism, you can compare the ideology with very liberal cities such as San Francisco that push for free tuition for students who do attend ... For example, she is a strong advocate for science and the environment, which are issues that are closely secured in a democratic agenda I strongly agree with. In addition, her gender is also female and is a shared attribute I have with Eddie Bernice Johnson such as our personal background. The only thing that both I and the congresswoman are different regarding our personal background is our ethnicity. However, both Hispanics and African Americans are considered the minority, which gives another comparing background between Eddie Bernice Johnson and me. Thus, A lot of what she stands for and her personal background that closely relates to mine shows me that she is a very strong descriptive representative for me. Moreover, her values of a better environment and economic equality illustrate a clear message that she values the people she represents such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Philosophical Differences Between Political Parties In the United States we are divided by the left and right side on the political spectrum; even further divided into political parties such as Republicans, on the right, and Democrats, on the left side. These two political parties show philosophical differences through their viewpoints on major topics such as the economy, separation of church and state, abortion, and gun control. Concerning the debate on our economy, republicans generally believe strongly in the power of a free market system, reduced income tax rate, more spending from the people, and less spending from the government. The Republican Party wants the tax rate to not be affected regardless of how much wealth a person has, and wants the tax rate to be reduced in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Democrats are pushing for this because in the 90's when taxes were set up like this, the economy was very strong, but, "in the seven years since, Republicans have produced $3.8 trillion in new debt and made China our national banker," (Skiba). Pushing to reduce the national debt, democrats want to create equality in the economy with taxes. Along with progressive taxation, democrats are more favorable towards government spending, especially for things such as social security and entitlement programs that help the masses. The Democratic Party would like a more regulated economy where the federal government steps in to create balance and equality. The next topic that is debated between the Republican and Democratic parties is the separation of church and state. This is defined by the detachment of the government when dealing with religion. The Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause both enforce the idea that the people have the right to explore and live out their religion of choice while have neutrality in the federal government. Contradictory to these clauses, the Republican Party wants to eliminate the separation that has been created between the government and the church because Republicans tend to ...
