1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?

2. At first we wanted to do an independent thriller opening but based on our
audience research we changed our mind and made a mainstream product
instead. Our film is mainstream as we have a simple narrative of the film,
and stick to the stereotypes of conventional thrillers such as: the antagonist
being a man and protagonist a girl. Psychological thrillers focus on mental
illnesses (mind) death, reality and perception and we have all the themes in
our thriller, we present mental illness and the mind are the focus of the
whole thriller, as all the things are happing in her head, reality and
perception is presented with her hearing voices and seeing things that are
not there. Both identity and death is presented by the stalker, as both the
audience and the main character don't know who he is, he killed Lucy's
parents and want to kill her as well.

Universal pictures would be a good distributor for our film as they have a
lot of thriller films. Universal pictures is also vertically disintegrated
meaning that they have connection with other companies that can help
us with our movie such as Universal Music Group.
I think they would like our film as they have released ‘Lucy’ which was a
massive success with a budget of $40 million and box office of $463.4
million. Our film and the film ‘Lucy’ are both psychological thrillers,
although the story line differs , there are so similarities of both of the
films, giving it a bigger chance of success.

Although Walt Disney is know around the world and as evident from my research do have
thriller films, and their own music group, I don’t think that it would be a good distributor
for our film as they are mainly associated with animation and children films.

As Warner Bros produce their own film, TV and music means we get a wide range of equipment and
resources for disposition, and getting our film across to a wider range of audience, and onto
different platforms such as a TV programme as we already have the distributor and are working
with them.

20th Century Fox would be a good distributor of our film as they have a number of thriller movies
already, and because they have subsidiary companies means that there is a wide range of
institutions so we can collaborate with them.

of the Japanese conglomerate Sony.

Columbia is not my top choice for the distributor of our film, as their main
focus is on comedy films.

As paramount have a big range of thrillers available they are a good distributor for our film, Vertigo and
Psycho are psychological thrillers, also they are both a production and distributor.

19. Out of the ‘Big Six’ distributors I have chosen Universal Pictures.
The reasons are as follows:
• Universal has a wide range of thriller films already out and some of them are the
biggest blockbusters out there including Jurassic World with a budget of 150
million USD and a box office of 1.67 billion USD.
• Universal Pictures have released ‘Lucy’, a psychological thriller that was also very
successful, because our thriller and ‘Lucy’ are similar in some ways, but do have a
different plot line, I think that our thriller would succeed if it gets distributed by
Universal Pictures.
• Universal Pictures are vertically disintegrated giving us the chance to collaborate
with other companies.
