Hammer Films would be well-suited to distribute the film because it is an independent horror film company that has distributed over 150 films worldwide, including well-known psychological horror titles. Hammer Films specializes in the horror genre and has a long history of distributing psychological thrillers. Distributing the film through Hammer Films would provide access to similar horror audiences and help expand the film's reach.
1. Question 3
What kind of media institute might
distribute your media product and
why?
2. Our film is a psychological horror and the features and style has been
influenced by some popular famous films, examples being ‘The Ward’ starring
Amber Heard. This particular film shows a young lady being sent to a mental
institute while trying to control her delusions, and we used this plot to help
and influence us on our starting point and were gradually able to develop it
into an individual piece.
Another film which has influences us is ‘The After Life’. This film is also a
psychological horror and has many similarities such as our characters profile
and her mental state.
Looking at our plot and genre, it would only suit to be distributed by a well
known Horror film company who would be able to expand an independent
film to similar audiences just as well as they have with other Horror films.
3. Hammer Films is an independent exclusive media company which
distributes all genres of horror world wide. They started in 1934 and have
since distributed over 150 feature films which have gone world wide. This
company is responsible for some of the greatest horror films, including ‘The
Women in Black’, ‘Let Me In’ and ‘Wake Wood’.
As Hammer is synonymous with Horror, and with a history psychological
thrillers being distributed centrally from this company, it would be an ideal
and well fitted decision to take upon this company and use it to distribute
our film.
5. Columbia Pictures
Columbia pictures is an American Film Production
and distribution studio based in America, which is
owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment which is
one of the leading film studios in the world. Columbia
pictures was founded in 1918 with the outlook of
having all genres of film being distributed to all ages.
With the success and reputation that Columbia has it would insure that our
film would be distributed to a wide amount of people throughout the world.
What does appeals to us about Columbia Pictures is that the most famous
comedies, romances and horrors are directly aimed at young adults, examples
being ‘Grown Ups’, ‘21 Jump Street’ and ‘Anonymous’, all aimed at young
adults.
