Essay On 2D Animation
Produce a design brief for this project
I'm going to create 2D animation because in this era that is dominated by 3D games and animation.
Many now consider the processes behind making beautiful 2D productions, forgetting how classy
and charming it is. I intend to make the most awesome 2D project that I can think of and I always
imagine other people's reaction when they look at something I've done. If it seems underwhelming,
I'll push it further or add more to it until I think it's good enough. Actually this works for any art, not
just pixels and I believe this proposed work offers an original and alternative solution to what
already exists because I will keep my audience in mind. Ensure that the video is designed to appeal

2D movies with twist ending. A good twist in a movie can leave you stunned and breathless,
desperate to watch it again. Aims and objectives
The aim of this 2D animation is reflected in the modern adaptation which differs from the stories
original source. The variation will be transformed to the screen; adaptions have followed the
conceptual ideas, materialize and develop along the story through to the final produced motion. I
realized this is an approach to media on the internet and makes people want to see more.
Research and document some key historical and current trends associated with 2D animation
♣ The trends that impacted animation in 2016
A return to Stop–Motion for non–plagiarized communication between brands and consumers
signaled a big return to stop–frame animation. The authentic taste look and feel of the animation
speaks exactly to this agenda. Even though people have been creating "mock motion" (CGI that
looks like stop–motion) for some years now, there seems to be a renewed desire for the real thing.
♣ 2D Motion design trends for 2017
Growth of Virtual Reality (VR) creates a new phase as the big tech companies try to develop the
best devices with enough content to grasp an audience share. Storytelling in VR development is
enough to keep people coming back once the novelty of the tech has worn off a bit? There are a few

Animation: Differences Between Eastern European And...
Difference between Eastern European and Western European Animation The definition for
animation as stated in Oxford Dictionary is "the technique of photographing successive drawings or
positions of puppets or models to create an illusion of movement when the film is shown as a
sequence". There are many types of animation besides 2D and 3D. Some of them are stop–motion
animation, puppet animation which we commonly known here at Malaysia as wayang kulit, clay
animation or claymation which uses clay, zoetrope animation where still images are drawn on a
drum and turned in a circular way thus creating an illusion of movement and one of the oldest, yet
still fascinating, the flip book animation. Animation is originated in the 19th century, where ... Show

It was certainly the place that holds the greatest dilemma of all. It was surprising when all of the
sudden, countries which had been almost nonexistent on the geographic of animation started moving
slowly into the technical and artistic dark and sometimes leapt into height. Czechoslovakia was the
first to done it, followed by Yugoslavia and Poland. It was always known that cinema adapt to the
same structure which a state–funded industry that depends on the political leadership and covers all
areas of production, rental, exhibitions and theatre management. Due to a philosophy of
disintegration, in the footsteps of the Soviet Union, production often included one or more teams of
animators, and these teams occasionally located in cities other than the capital. Animation was
usually limited to younger viewers because of its popularity among children. Almost instantly after
World War II, the productions of animated films trended to be systematic and conformist and as
time went by, facilities became more available and the influence of Stalinism over artistic ideology

Essay about Variations in Animation in Different Cultures
Animation in different cultures
Animation has a variety of differences between Japanese culture and the culture of the United
States. While animation is usually made for the sole purpose of entertainment for children in the
United States, Japanese animation, also known as anime as it is referred to both in Japan and in the
West, is a form of media that is enjoyed by people of all ages. Unlike the Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles and SpongeBob Square pants, both very popular American animations shows in their times,
anime focuses more on drama and other non childlike qualities. The differing cultures of the United
States and Japan can be considered the main factor to the huge differences in their own respected
animation styles.

Created by the Toei Doga Company, this film showed that full–length animated feature films were a
viable commercial product in the Japanese market (MacWilliams 50). Previously only animated
films from foreign nations reached Japanese theatres, mostly coming from the United States.
With the rapid spread of television in the 1960's, Japanese animators found a new way to sell their
products. One of the first Japanese anime to see great success was Tetsuwan Atom also known as
Astro Boy, seeing success in western countries such as the United States and Europe. Another
popular series from this time period was Tetsujin 28–go or Gigantor. Unlike the cartoons being
shown in the United States at this time period, such as Spiderman, The Flintstones, and The Jetsons,
Astro Boy and Gigantor focused on bigger, more mature issues. Cartoons in the United States aimed
more at entertaining children with superheros thwarting criminals, and both prehistoric and
futuristic comedy. These types of cartoons were never meant for anything other than entertainment
with a small side of morality lessons put in for good measure. While entertaining, very rarely did the
cartoons that were from the United States create critical thinking or questions about morality
amongst their young viewers.
In comparison, Astro Boy, while similar to

The Meaning Of The Animation In Moana, By Walt Disney
Millions of children's programming exists worldwide. Walt Disney has produced some of the best
and most well–known children's movies the English–speaking culture has known. Moana is a
fantastic children's movie that incorporates a perfect combination of impressive animation and a
delightful soundtrack to convey an inspirational message to the youth (especially young girls) all
over the world.
The animation in Moana is impressive as it portrays real people and not being the standard version
of a perfect princess. Moana is muscular and athletic and relies on her own abilities to accomplish
her goals. Disney's animation has produced yet another high quality animated film similar to the
styles of Frozen, the characters of Moana appear to have soft edges making the cartoon look more
realistic as opposed to other cartoons being outlined in black. Another example showing off the
animator's skills in this film is the ocean being personified. This must have difficult to do because
even though it didn't have any human form or face it is it has a personality. The ocean, when being
personified, moves in a fluid but unnatural manner and is a slightly lighter blue than when it is not
being personified. The small light blue wave serves as the oceans 'head' and is capable of nodding
yes and no. The soundtrack of Moana makes the movie a delight to watch, keeping kids and adults
alike interested and entertained by the movie. The song "How Far I'll Go" serves as Moana's

How Has Animation Changed Over Time
Plot subjects in animation and media often are reflective of how we as a society are constantly
changing. The content in which animation companies produces is often relevant to current and most
important events that are occurring. This has shown to be true throughout the many decades of
animation. Between the years of 1942 and 1945, the years of World War II, Walt Disney Studios
were found to have been producing mass propaganda for the U.S. Government for the purpose of
increased morale and support throughout the war. Disney Studios at the time was an extremely
popular animation studio which made them incredibly relevant to the public community. Through
their use of highly appealing characters and cartoons, Disney served as a perfect model to spread
information about the current war to the people. Through this, we see that animation is a strong
conveyer of relevant information and also serves to track how society's trends are ever changing.
Presently, this has also been shown in very recent animation. As trends change so does the subjects
in cartoons. For example, As the feminist movement has become an ever ... Show more content on

Through cartoons and animations, advertising products with the influence of charming visuals and
recognizable characters made viewers more likely to purchase said products. Before, entertainment
and advertisement were more conjoined rather than separate as it is today. In animations such as
Breakfast Pals (1939) and In My Merry Oldsmobile (1931), these animations attempt entertainment
and advertisement as a whole. The purpose was to entertain viewers through captivating visuals
while enticing them to purchase products through relatable characters and plots. In modern day,
most if not all animations focus completely on the aspect of plot arcs to keep the viewer entertained
through interesting story development while product advertisement is often done through another
medium such as live action or simple

The Impact Of Animation On American Culture
"Animation is the process of making the illusion of motion and the illusion of change by means of
the rapid display of a sequence of images the minimally differ from each other". (Wikipedia )
Animation has had a significant impact on the American culture as most people grow up watching
cartoon created through the art of animation. But some may wonder how this art from came to be.
How far Animation has come in America from 1606–present can be broken up into three groups
those being, animation before film, hand–drawn animation films, and computer animation films.
Early motion before the creation of film dating from 1600–1877 was done through several different
machines created to show motion in art work. Art has been an interest and somewhat

Recognizing the Advancements in Animation
GCC's animation department consists of about nine classes each term, which are taught by
experienced animators. Technology keeps advancing, and 3D is being widely used in the film
industry.
Yina Chang is one of the talented professors in the animation department. She teaches Art 233
(Character set–up) and Art 235 (character animation). In her class, before they animate on the
computer, they sketch it out on a story board to get their ideas flowing. Then, they begin their
animation process.
"I teach hands on skill that prepare my students for the animation industry" Chang said.
The main software they use is Maya, an animation program used internationally. The program
contains modeling, texture, and a lighting simulation, and there is a generator to process images.
"Maya is one of the best animation packages" Chang said.
Chang spent years working professionally in the animation industry. She has participated in several
big–budget productions throughout her successful career including "Apollo 13" (Gene Kranz 1995),
"Star Wars" (George Lucas 2002) and "Frozen" (Chirs buck 2013). She was the technical director
for most of the Yoda shots in "Star Wars Episode II". This was the first production to introduce
computer–generated images. Before CGI was used, yoda had limited movement. CGI gives the
animated characters the ability to fight and twist around while brandishing their light sabers.

Animation : Stop Motion Animation
Animation is the process of making the illusion of motion and change by rapidly displaying a
sequence of static images that have minor differences. Animators are artists that specialize in
creating animation. Stop motion is an animation technique that results in an object appearing to
move on its own, by physically manipulating that object. It is moved in tiny increments between
frames photographed individually. This creates the illusion of movement when the series of frames
is played as a continuous sequence. Claymation is one of many forms of stop motion animation.
With this form, each animated piece is made of a malleable substance. Everything from the
characters to sometimes the background is deformable, and usually made of Plasticine ... Show

starred as the only voice in the entire film, for Wallace. The film follows a plot outline from over
2,000 years ago. The same outline used for movies such as Star Wars, Thelma and Louise, and
Casablanca. At the beginning of the film, the hero is introduced as Gromit the silent dog. Then, the
hero has a weakness. In this film, Gromit does not like his birthday gift from Wallace. This gift was

penguin plays loud music at night. So in order to sleep, Gromit goes to the doghouse outside. After a
day of the penguin doing Gromit?s tasks around the house, Wallace takes a liking to the penguin and

Different Differences Between Western Animation And...
Difference between Western European Animation and Eastern European Animation
By: Nurfarain Binti Sabarudin
Animation has been part of the world for a very long time. Use of animation is becoming more
popular each day. Animation can be used for different purpose such as advertisement and education,
but it's mainly used for entertainment. Lot of short stories and film has been created using
animation. Most successful animation companies usually come from United State. For example
Pixar, which has produce some of the most box–office films which include WALL–E, Toy Story and
Inside Out. Animation companies from Japan also not left behind in producing high–quality
animation and becoming more popular nowadays.
Other than United Stated and Japan, Europe also produces several good quality animations. Because

By following Disney formula, animator reproducing animations focus on film for children, but fail
to imitate the method. The distribution of the television gives the opportunity to the animator to
show their work by making advertisment. Many advertising companies start to urge stable renewal
and some of them even fund their artist's creative work into the field of entertainment.
During World War II, the traditional method which is advertisement no longer supports British
Animation. But British animation still maintain in the industry because of wartime propaganda. In
the 1940s, Halas and Batchelor Animation Studios were founded by John Halas and Joy Batchelor,
who was an English animator and writer. The first British animated feature film; Animal Farm was

Animation : The Development Of Animation And The Silent Age
Have you ever wondered how animation started? Well believe it or not animation started way before
computers were even invented. Animation has been around from five different Era's like Silent Age,
Golden Age, Dark Age, Renaissance Age, and millennium Age. Most people don't know the history
of animation, and think that you need technology to make it and use it, but let's go back and see how
it was used.
To begin with, J. Stuart Blackton was the very first person to make an animated film in 1906. He
almost made the first animation back in the silent age which was 1900–1928. Back in the silent age,
technology was just barley taking off. Technology was getting big and they started inventing TVs
and other stuff, and also animation. Animation with the rise of technology it was a whole new
system during the silent age. Now, animation had existed for a while before the silent age but this is
when a large numbers of people actually started to notice of the medium and what it could do. The
animation that people were doing in the silent age were stop motions. That's about all people could
have done with animation, because technology wasn't as advance as it is today. Walt Disney started
using animation in the silent age, just when they were barley starting off. Naturally, the silent age
came to screeching halt with the rise of sound technology in the late 1920s. Disney and many other
studios quickly worked to take advantage of the new technology, while former stars like Felix the

The Art of Digital Animation
Norman McLaren said, "Animation is not the art of drawings that move but the art of movements
that are drawn." To be a digital animator, independence and social skills are needed. Strong design
skills and computer savvy will be key. (Clark 185) To be successful or to even get a job the animator
needs a proper foundation. Having social skills, years of experience, and even a degree (not often)
are needed to do so. The long hours can be fun or enjoyable in the beginning seeing as the animator
is doing what they love but eventually, they will be exhausted and with deadlines they can screw
their self over without being prepared. Being educated in the field is highly suggested, to
understanding of color, form, shape, dynamics, and so on is needed. However, the only way the
animator can truly learn is through experience, actual practice. Some people look to be apprentices
to other animator and learn through being in that type of environment. Being a digital animator has
it's pros, cons, is full of history, and has a simple method of getting into.
Digital animation is a vital piece in the entertainment industry today. Talented artists from all over
get into the field to create amazing works of art. An animator produces multiple images that are
referred to as frames. These frames when compiled in sequence create a moving picture known as
animation. "They draw by hand and use computers to create the large series of pictures that, when
transferred to film or tape, form the animated

This thesis for a dissertation would have set about to analyse the relationship between analogue and
digital filmmaking and the differences in these practices since the rise of the latter's popularity and
usability. The paper would have evaluated digital filmmaking practices and the new range of
techniques that modern technology has brought about, giving reference to the rise of importance in
editing since the development of red–one and the response to this of various filmmakers, Lars Von

Abstract
This study addresses the viability of auteurism in the contemporary moving image industries and the
significance of this in relation to whether or not an animator can be considered a genuine auteur
within the wider context of general artistic practice.
The purpose is to provide an up to date and comprehensive, analytical framing of auteur theory and
enhance the arguments laid down by critics, thinkers and theorists on both the psychoanalysis
concerned with the consideration of the 'original' self in a postmodern society and whether the
collaborative, creative nature of the animation industry lends itself to the term auteur. The
dissertation will provide a social, historical and theoretical study of a number of discourses
concerned with the animation industry, examining distinguishable personalities within the medium
and formulating a thesis on arguments limiting auteur theory to the status of "high art" whilst
questioning the genealogical construction of understanding surrounding the bourgeois construct of
authorship.
The paper sets about to provide an unbiased argument on the authentic nature of auteurism within
contemporary perceptions of animated cinema,

Redefining Animation Methods: From the Past to the Future
There is a huge industry dedicated to animation and creating entertainment like movies, cartoons,
video games, and educational software to deliver a message, tell a story, and/or educate the masses.
Animation is the process of creating a continuous motion and shape change illusion by means of the
rapid display of a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other. Anyone who as
ever turned on a television, gone to the movies, or seen a commercial has been exposed to an
animation style at some point. Some love animation and some are not so interested in it, but
regardless it is a booming business that started out simply and is evolving at a rapid pace.
Animation today is very advanced and it is amazing what technologies go into putting things into
action, especially when it comes to current animated features and video games. Creators have been
able to make fictional characters appear as if they are real and they have extraordinary detail, take
three–dimensional animation for example. With some 3–D animations it is hard to differentiate if it
is indeed an animation or a film with real actors. Scenery can be just as detailed as its real
counterparts and characters, although still cartoon–like, have very realistic detail from facial muscle
movement to pigment in their skin and eyes. There are some two dimensional works that are
exceptional as well. Many are created by drawing out each individual scene and combine in
sequence. One can see that 2–D

Stop Motion Animation
Stop motion animation: Stop motion animation is when you take a picture of something, move it
ever so slightly (depending on how smooth you want the sequence to be) then take another picture
and so on and so on. The sequence of pictures will create an illusion of a moving image. When
creating a stop motion animation it can either be done traditionally or a computer can be used to
generate the background sets. Examples of stop–motion animation on TV are commonly children's
shows such as Morph, Shaun the sheep, Bagpuss, The Clangers, Noddy and Wallace and Gromit's
World of Invention. The advantage of stop motion animation is that you can be creative because
there aren't many limitations on what you can do with an object like you do in real life. The
disadvantage is that it's very time consuming and extremely laborious and you have to make sure
the camera's still because one little slip up shows very clearly.
Clay animation: It is similar to stop motion animation however using clay. It works by capturing
each frame and then playing the recorded shots to see a live action. Clay animation films were
created in the 1908's, however it's in 1916 that it started to become popular overseas. Each clay
character is produced by using a wire and clay, the wire is called an armature. The disadvantage of
clay is that it's very fragile therefor when producing and shooting the characters and objects must
not be altered by any smudges, hair or dust

animation really been around? It has been around since the beginning of mankind and continues to
thrive in today's era of animation, The Millennium Age of Animation. People have been depicted
animation since mankind came into existence. It has been proven through many cave drawings and

does things like dance, lift her legs, eat whole trees and rocks, drink a whole lake, plays with an
elephant, and take McCay for a ride on her back. Pat Sullivan and Otto Messmer's Felix the cat, a

The Four Core Competencies Used In My Animation Process
Animations are an excellent way of bringing joy to a person while enhancing their experience.
However, for an animation to be successful, the animator should meet the audience–based
expectations. As I reflect on my animation project, I will focus on the four core competencies used
in the making of this project.
Critical Thinking – The first competency used in my project involved the process of critical
thinking. Before I came up with a story for my animation, I thought about numerous ideas that could
potentially assist me with exploring the basic fundamentals and skills of animation. The first step
was to identify the problem as well as the factors that could influence it. In this case, the type of
animation that would be well–suited for children ages two to ten. Once I had a clear picture of the
problem and the target audience, I began to dive deeper into the issue and its possible solutions.
Researching was my second step in the critical thinking process. When using research for this
project, I came up with ideas that were relevant and useful to the task at hand. Consequently, critical
thinking played a crucial role in deciding on new ideas, selecting the best ones and adjusting them if
necessary. This lead to a reasonable solution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

animation in this era from television series, films, and even in music video and animation also
comes with different types from 2D animation to 3D animation, stop–motion animation and also
Computer Generated Imagery (CGI). Animations have been put to use in various purposes like

The Eastern European animation studios usually work for the government and focusing more to the
children. Their animations usually have very strong moral value to teach children by using

independently and focus on the people behaviors during that time. This can be seen in the Aarman
Studio's works that have many hidden message on their works that based on people behavior or
even propaganda during that time. Next, their technique of animation use different style in Eastern
Animation use puppet scuplter to made a stop–motion animation but in Western Animation,
Aardman studio usually use plasticine for their stop–motion animation. In addition, Western
Animation also uses pixalization technique on their animations. Eastern Europe creates their work
with a high quality animation and is also a beneficiary of the global expansion in animation. But one
of the disadvantages of Eastern Europe is low labor costs, and it benefits from work subcontracted
from other territories. Lastly, there is a downfall to various Eastern European animation studios
during the revolution and transformation into capitalism. Suddenly, the vast studious likes Kratky

Impact of Technology on the Animation Industry Essay
Impact of Technology on the Animation Industry
In 1988, the live action and animation hybrid "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" introduced a whole new
way of making animation movies (Elkins, 2003). The three dimensional rendering and the
interaction between live actors, animated figures and environment was revolutionary at that time
(Elkins, 2003). Three years later, in 1991, "Beauty and the Beast" was an Oscar nominee for best
picture, which showed how popular this genre had become (Elkins, 2003). Since then, rapid
technological changes have improved the quality of animation movies. The use of computers sat a
new standard for animating, with the first computer animated feature released less than ten years
ago (DreamWorks, 2004). This essay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not possible to rush art, as they argue, and the process goes through several stages before the
movie is finished. After the art department has added colour and visual looks on figures and
surfaces, three–dimensional models are made on computers. This is done by either creating a
sculpture which is scanned or by direct modeling using computer software. Hinges are added to
move the figures, and a character like "Woody" in "Monster Inc." has as much as a hundred hinges
in his face. After the models are made, they are dressed, to make a proper visualization. When
making the shots, virtual cameras are used to record different scenes. Without the aid of the new
technology, it would be impossible to achieve the same results.
After the decision has been made on which virtual camera shot to use, the figures are animated to
create the scene (Pixar, 2004a). At Pixar, they do not paint or draw the figures in the final stage, but
use the ones already made. By using the hinges, the figures are controlled like puppeteers, creating
movement and different emotions. This provides the movie makers with options they would not
have without the new technology. Then, shadows and lighting are added, before the information is
put together to a film in a computer system. This process adds motion blur to the animation. Each
frame of 1/24 seconds screen time takes at least six hours of processing,

Who Said That Animation Is Just For Kids Essay

raised on cartoons, as most American animation is directed at children. If you were to ask the people
who said that they used to watch cartoons if they still watch animated shows today, they would
probably say that they grew out of watching cartoons a long time ago. However, this is not the case

This made animation much easier and soon became a trademark of American cartoons. As the years
went on cartoons did not diverge from the successful slapstick routine that was shown. But as the
years passed and local televisions were introduced, cartoons were no longer something you could
only see in theaters. Adults became less interested in the cartoons, and began considering cartoons
as something that only children should watch. As such animation companies began directing all of
their shows at young children. Merchandising was now the best way to make money off of these
cartoons now that the cartoons could be watched at home, with constant advertisement, companies
could sell all kinds of merchandise based off of cartoons, a great example of which is Disneyland.
Up into the 90s cartoons were still directed at children urging them to purchase the next cool toy
based off of the show. Today some animated shows are becoming more adult oriented with shows
like The Simpsons, or South Park which contain more mature content but still keep the crazy antics
that are prevalent in animation. Over the years American animation has almost always been very

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Animation
INTRODUCTION
Animation is a process of creating an illusion of motion or movement or any change of shape of any
object or body by means of rapid display of a sequence of images that were different from each
other. It is a process of displaying still images. In animation, processes done by frames and in 1 sec
24 frames were cut to make an image.
The meaning of animation is to convert REAL WORLD into VIRTUAL WORLD. To animate
everything (non–living thing) into virtual world. Basically to show everything real which would not
be possible in real world but it would in virtual world.
Animation starts by collecting various independent pictures and putting together to form the illusion
of continuous motion.

TECHNIQUES IN ANIMATION
1) TRADITIONAL ANIMATION:
Also known as Hand–Written animation. Traditional or cel animation is the most popular form of
animation that involves hand drawn images. It was followed in 20th century. The process started by
deciding a story. The frames which were drawn by hand are basically photographs of drawing, first
drawn on a paper to create an illusion of movement where each frame or drawing must be different
from one another. The digital scanning has replaced the cel animation but the look is still preserved
and the job of the character still remains the

Golden Age Of Animation
Animation plays an enormous role in the entertainment industry today. The Global Animation and
Gaming Market is estimated to be worth $242.92 billion (as of 2016), and animated films are the
most profitable of any film genre. This industry has widespread influence amongst all age groups,
and the films produced can span any genre. The industry has seen major changes with the recent
advances in computer–generated animation techniques. To fully understand animation, it's important
to see where it began. What is considered animation? That question is more loaded than many
believe, as the definition of animation is still debated today. This allows for some controversy as to
what is the first ever animation. Some believe that the cave painting ... Show more content on

During this time, many classic characters emerged, including Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse,
Superman, and countless others. Disney released many feature length films during this time,
including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, and Dumbo. Warner Bros cartoons was
founded in 1933, notably allowing their animators more freedom to develop different styles than
other studios at the time. As disney started to make the shift into primarily focusing on feature
length films, Warner Bros continued to focus on making shorts, such as the successful Looney
Tunes series. The Golden Age started to rely more on voice actors to help bring these characters to
life, and scores played by studio orchestras to complete the story. During this time, colored
televisions became available to more and more Americans changing the ways they can receive their
entertainment. In 1958 the Huckleberry Hound Show was the first half an hour television show to
feature only animation. This eventually led to popular cartoons such as The Flintstones, being
featured on primetime television. The golden age of animation came to an end when televised
cartoons started to gain large viewerships, and animated shorts lost their popularity in

How Has Pixar Animation Changed The World
Pixar Animation changed the game of animation, but how? Is it the beautiful quality, the picturesque
feel, or the new change that brought the animation industry to a new focus? Animation is so much
more than what we think or know about it. It is an art that challenges the way we look at the world.
It brings a new level of realism and imagination to our bleak, everyday lives. Animation changed
not only from Disney but also from the 3D beauty that lead the world to an understanding of what
can be dreamt up. 3D animation is a beauty that changed the world, the industry, and Disney
Animation Studios for animation and it is potential. The beautiful picture on the screen needs to be
created with quite a bit of detail but what exactly is animation? According to Merriam Dictionary,
animation is, "a way of making a movie by using a series of drawings, computer graphics, or
photographs of objects (such as puppets or models) that are slightly different from one another and
that when viewed quickly one after another create the appearance of movement" (Merriam). Frame
by frame, animation requires countless hours of attention to make seconds or even minutes of work
that can make up a full–length film. Animation, before 3D animation, was hand–drawn, silhouette,
stop motion, and countless other techniques that use to fill our lives. On July 29th, 1928, Walt
Disney made one of the biggest advances in animation by matching sound to animated picture. It

Character Animation Essay
Character animation is something I have wanted to do for ages and would like to do in the future. So
when this assignment came around I was rather looking foreword to it. I did not however see that
we had to model, rig and weight the character. I thought we were given a character and told to
animate it. I did not mind the idea of having to model a character. Rigging was a new area for me
never did it before so I was looking foreword to giving that ago.
The character was decided during 5–minute drawings, I rather liked this. Having a fixed time to
design a character was good. I came up with a skinny lawyer who is very posh and proper. He had a
bowler hat and a cane signifying that he was a gentleman. So after the 5–minute drawings I was
pretty happy with modelling a lawyer as my character.
I feel that the design work in this assignment was not as good as it has been in other assignments. I
decided to just do a basic body shape, each with different body types. Some of them were skinny
and slightly large chested. Some were large chested with small legs. The large chest designs were
sort of cocky lawyers who think they always win cases. The skinny design is meant to be a less
confident lawyer who usually doesn't win cases. I went with a character between the skinny and the
bulky character. His personality was a cocky lawyer who thought everything was going his way. His
design was top heavy with a sort of chiselled chin and fancy hairstyle. This was to help show that

Issues in Animation
The problem The first 2D animation was created in by Emile Cohl in 1908 called "Fantasmagorie".
The animated film was 70 seconds made with 700 images and 24 frames per second for making the
ending according to Kieran Kane's presentation "The History of Animation". In 1928, Walt Disney
used 2D animation to create the first Mickey Mouse cartoon " Steamboat Willie". The cartoon was
also the first animated film to have a soundtrack in the background according to " The History of
Animation". After this event, many companies like Walt Disney, Warner Bros, and Hanna–Barbera
started creating cartoons and commercials with paper 2D animation in 1930s to 1970s; these were
known as the "year of animation". Now, most animations have the problem of consuming time on

The audio is first important thing in an animation. It gives the story more interest to the audience;
it's also use to know what the character is saying according to bloop animation video "How to Make

going say (in agreement to bloop animation). The audio also comes with a script which helps when
creating what the characters are going to say. Once the audio is finished, the storyboard can begin in
process. The storyboard is like a rough draft to know what's going to occur in the film. It appears to
look like an comic according to bloopanimation. It helps useful for changing or fixing a scene in the
animated film. Then, the animatic begins, as per to bloop animation; animators use an editing

characteristics. Next, I will discuss the animation movements that Hubley uses during Rooty Toot

First, the animation movements were easily recognizable in the film because Hubley shows them

animation movements with each character and all of them are not realistic. A lot of these characters

As soon as an animator completes their work, the animator submits their work to the test camera
department to see how well it is in motion. Did you also know that an in–between that hardly flows
in the process of the test camera? When this incorrection is prominent, the entire frame is thrown
away and revise the entire frame. Unlike the methods of 2D animation, flash animation is less
stunning. Flash Animation is the predecessor of 2D
Animation; Flash Animation is quicker and inexpensive. Besides flash animation being quicker,
updated, and cheaper, the production of flash animation is often sloppy and inaccurate to what is
being shown on the screen. For example,
Teen Titans Go! , is a TV Program made from Flash Animation. Teen Titans Go! is a terrible show.
Besides its lack of continuity to the original show, Teen Titans,
The animation plays a key role why this show is terrible. The movement is robotic and cheap; the
character design for each character is bland. After receiving criticism based solely on the animation
practices of the show, the animators make a jab about their choppy animation. What is depicted in
the scene of the jab is the dislocation of body parts that float toward the other side of the screen,
away from that character's body.
Adding on, 2D animation is better than Flash Animation for its usage of materials. Materials play a
key role in art. Material can range mediums such as paint, pen, Technology, etc. 2D

Skills and Qualities The skills an animator possesses are integral to the work they do. Without their

company who is hiring them. Using the correct software is key because in a team must be able to

Animation: Stop Motion Animation
Stop Motion Animation
Stop motion is a technique which makes an inanimate object e.g a toy or clay model and makes it
seem to move on its own. This can be done by taking many photos and making minuscule
movements between each photo (each frame). When the photos are played together the illusion of
movement is apparent.
Elements of stop motion have been apparent since the early days of film usually to portray magic.
The origins of stop motion start with Peter Roget who wrote a paper on 'The persistence of vision
with regard to moving objects' in 1824,this was about the illusion of inanimate objects moving. This
was taken and adapted by Dr Joseph Antoine Plateau and Dr. Simon Rittrer in 1831. They took this
idea of illusion through movement and created the phenakistoscope which was essential a ... Show

Stop Motion Animation
Stop–motion animation requires the shooting of physically manipulated still objects to appear as
moving objects.
Some use dolls, props or clay (also known as called Claymation) to sequentially move an object in
between individually shot frames.
Depending on the preference of the director, stop–motion animation may also require either
traditional or computer animation to supplement the movie's other visual requirements such as the
backgrounds, sets, and props.
Examples of stop–motion animation on TV are commonly children's shows such as Morph, Shaun
the sheep, Bagpuss, The Clangers, Noddy and Wallace and Gromit's World of Invention.
The advantage of stop motion animation is that you can be creative because there aren't many
limitations on what you can do with an object like you do in real life.
The disadvantage is that it's very time consuming and extremely laborious and you have to make
sure the camera's still because one little slip up shows very clearly.
Clay animation:
It is similar to stop motion animation however using clay. It works by capturing each frame and then
playing the recorded shots to see a live action.
Clay animation films were created in the 1908's, however it's in 1916 that it started to become
popular overseas.
Each clay character is produced by using a wire and clay, the wire is called an armature.
The disadvantage of clay is that it's very fragile therefor when producing and shooting the characters

They both have their place in modern media, and they both have their own attributes. In order to
fully understand the magnitude of how much of a gap in popularity there is between these two
different techniques in animating there must be clear statistics that show proof how these movies
fair in the box offices. For instance, take a look at Disney's Princess and the Frog which was a
traditionally animated film. It had done well when it came to what movie critics had to say about it,
however, it failed in comparison to Pixar at the box office with a return of only $267million (Child
n.p). The newest adaption to Winnie the Pooh also received wonderful reviews from critics but was
only able to bring in $33million worldwide (Child n.p). Take these two movies and compare them to
Bolt (2009) and Tangled (2010) which grossed $310million and $590million individually (Child
n.p). That doesn't necessarily make Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh "bad" movies; critics
seemed to think they were just fine. However there is a clear gap between the money made by the
CGI films and the hand–drawn films. Furthermore, the matter of whether or not they were both
made by different companies is of the question seeing as how all four films were produced by
Disney. Traditional animation, using hand–drawn images, has been successful for many decades and

new technology takes animations to a whole new level, referring to their most recent film, Monsters

are dozens of new tools animators use in this time, there are still tools we use that were created
almost 20 years ago. As technology advances, work becomes a little faster but still takes the
patience trait needed. Takahashi asks Clark about having an army to create these films. Clark
responds that as films get richer and complex, such as with more characters, that it pretty much
takes an army to complete the film. Each person is hand animating something.

The Effects Of Animation On The Animation Industry, Men...
Average people that have little to no idea how animation is done still (hopefully) understand that it
takes creativity, unique ideas, and most of all passion to do your job successfully. So it is my guess
that one would be very surprised to find out that even in the animation industry, men are more
desired for jobs than women. How can animation be dominated by a single gender? Men and
women have great ideas, both can tell wonderful stories, and both can pull from their personal
experiences and incorporate them to their work – so what reason would there be to discriminate
against female artists? At this point the word "discriminate" may or may not be sudden of me to
suggest, especially from the point of view of those who have trouble imagining such a thing
happening in an industry such as this. My way of getting through to you would be to bring up facts
here and now, so that we can start off on the right track. A quick break down of the animation
workforce should help put this issue into perceptive. According to figures compiled for 2015 by the

Animation Of The Animation Industry
What is animation? Animation is a vivid, beautiful form of art that's used to display kinetic motion.
In history many animations have been produced for a variety of reasons: entertainment, education,
research, and even propaganda. The possibilities that come with animations are endless. The
animation industry has been introduced roughly a century ago, yet not until recently has it begun to
boom with reports in 2008 estimating the industry to be worth $68.4 billion dollars1. Throughout
history this art form has evolved not only through technology, but through the influences of society

Knowing this should change your perspective on animation and expand your mind to realize that
animation, in a way, participated in history even before technology. Now looking at a less abstract
definition of animation, we can now review the use of animation that could be recognized as
animation without as much explanation(however, this section still covers the use of animation
before film). In 1603, the "Magic Lantern" was invented by Dutch scientist, Christiaan Huygens(yes
it's Christian with two A's). This Magic Lantern was the first projector to be invented. This projector
has the capability of projecting moving parts: hence why it's considered an animation. In 1824, the
Thaumatrope was invented4. This was "a rotating mechanism mechanism with a different picture on
each side,"4 allowing for this to display motion using a combination of the pictures. In 1831, the
phenakistoscope was invented allowing motion to be displayed using several sets of mirrors around
a spinning disk4. In 1868, the flipbook, also known as a kineograph, became popular allowing the
user to flip several note–sized sheets of paper that was used as the different frames to simulate a
motion as the images quickly changed4. This can give you the idea of how animation evolved
through the use of technology. Here we enter the silent era that lasts from 1900–1930. In 1906,

constructed in an episodic way, where at the end of every episode characters are "reset" to their
default status." (Bakonyi 30) This is not the case in Avatar, however, where the overarching plot is
stated within the first couple episodes – Aang must master the four elements and defeat the Firelord
before the end of summer – and stays true to this mission all the way to the end. Although the group
occasionally gets off track, each episode propels them towards that final goal in one way or another.
Few, if any, children's cartoons have such a clearly stated, overarching plot that it remains true to
over the course of multiple seasons. More often cartoons are

2D Animation Essay: How Animation Has Changed Over Time

  • 1. Essay On 2D Animation Produce a design brief for this project I'm going to create 2D animation because in this era that is dominated by 3D games and animation. Many now consider the processes behind making beautiful 2D productions, forgetting how classy and charming it is. I intend to make the most awesome 2D project that I can think of and I always imagine other people's reaction when they look at something I've done. If it seems underwhelming, I'll push it further or add more to it until I think it's good enough. Actually this works for any art, not just pixels and I believe this proposed work offers an original and alternative solution to what already exists because I will keep my audience in mind. Ensure that the video is designed to appeal to the target ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2D movies with twist ending. A good twist in a movie can leave you stunned and breathless, desperate to watch it again. Aims and objectives The aim of this 2D animation is reflected in the modern adaptation which differs from the stories original source. The variation will be transformed to the screen; adaptions have followed the conceptual ideas, materialize and develop along the story through to the final produced motion. I realized this is an approach to media on the internet and makes people want to see more. Research and document some key historical and current trends associated with 2D animation ♣ The trends that impacted animation in 2016 A return to Stop–Motion for non–plagiarized communication between brands and consumers signaled a big return to stop–frame animation. The authentic taste look and feel of the animation speaks exactly to this agenda. Even though people have been creating "mock motion" (CGI that looks like stop–motion) for some years now, there seems to be a renewed desire for the real thing. ♣ 2D Motion design trends for 2017 Growth of Virtual Reality (VR) creates a new phase as the big tech companies try to develop the best devices with enough content to grasp an audience share. Storytelling in VR development is enough to keep people coming back once the novelty of the tech has worn off a bit? There are a few more good years to go before we ... • 2. Animation: Differences Between Eastern European And... Difference between Eastern European and Western European Animation The definition for animation as stated in Oxford Dictionary is "the technique of photographing successive drawings or positions of puppets or models to create an illusion of movement when the film is shown as a sequence". There are many types of animation besides 2D and 3D. Some of them are stop–motion animation, puppet animation which we commonly known here at Malaysia as wayang kulit, clay animation or claymation which uses clay, zoetrope animation where still images are drawn on a drum and turned in a circular way thus creating an illusion of movement and one of the oldest, yet still fascinating, the flip book animation. Animation is originated in the 19th century, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was certainly the place that holds the greatest dilemma of all. It was surprising when all of the sudden, countries which had been almost nonexistent on the geographic of animation started moving slowly into the technical and artistic dark and sometimes leapt into height. Czechoslovakia was the first to done it, followed by Yugoslavia and Poland. It was always known that cinema adapt to the same structure which a state–funded industry that depends on the political leadership and covers all areas of production, rental, exhibitions and theatre management. Due to a philosophy of disintegration, in the footsteps of the Soviet Union, production often included one or more teams of animators, and these teams occasionally located in cities other than the capital. Animation was usually limited to younger viewers because of its popularity among children. Almost instantly after World War II, the productions of animated films trended to be systematic and conformist and as time went by, facilities became more available and the influence of Stalinism over artistic ideology ... • 3. Essay about Variations in Animation in Different Cultures Animation in different cultures Animation has a variety of differences between Japanese culture and the culture of the United States. While animation is usually made for the sole purpose of entertainment for children in the United States, Japanese animation, also known as anime as it is referred to both in Japan and in the West, is a form of media that is enjoyed by people of all ages. Unlike the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob Square pants, both very popular American animations shows in their times, anime focuses more on drama and other non childlike qualities. The differing cultures of the United States and Japan can be considered the main factor to the huge differences in their own respected animation styles. Anime is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Created by the Toei Doga Company, this film showed that full–length animated feature films were a viable commercial product in the Japanese market (MacWilliams 50). Previously only animated films from foreign nations reached Japanese theatres, mostly coming from the United States. With the rapid spread of television in the 1960's, Japanese animators found a new way to sell their products. One of the first Japanese anime to see great success was Tetsuwan Atom also known as Astro Boy, seeing success in western countries such as the United States and Europe. Another popular series from this time period was Tetsujin 28–go or Gigantor. Unlike the cartoons being shown in the United States at this time period, such as Spiderman, The Flintstones, and The Jetsons, Astro Boy and Gigantor focused on bigger, more mature issues. Cartoons in the United States aimed more at entertaining children with superheros thwarting criminals, and both prehistoric and futuristic comedy. These types of cartoons were never meant for anything other than entertainment with a small side of morality lessons put in for good measure. While entertaining, very rarely did the cartoons that were from the United States create critical thinking or questions about morality amongst their young viewers. • 4. The Meaning Of The Animation In Moana, By Walt Disney Millions of children's programming exists worldwide. Walt Disney has produced some of the best and most well–known children's movies the English–speaking culture has known. Moana is a fantastic children's movie that incorporates a perfect combination of impressive animation and a delightful soundtrack to convey an inspirational message to the youth (especially young girls) all over the world. The animation in Moana is impressive as it portrays real people and not being the standard version of a perfect princess. Moana is muscular and athletic and relies on her own abilities to accomplish her goals. Disney's animation has produced yet another high quality animated film similar to the styles of Frozen, the characters of Moana appear to have soft edges making the cartoon look more realistic as opposed to other cartoons being outlined in black. Another example showing off the animator's skills in this film is the ocean being personified. This must have difficult to do because even though it didn't have any human form or face it is it has a personality. The ocean, when being personified, moves in a fluid but unnatural manner and is a slightly lighter blue than when it is not being personified. The small light blue wave serves as the oceans 'head' and is capable of nodding yes and no. The soundtrack of Moana makes the movie a delight to watch, keeping kids and adults alike interested and entertained by the movie. The song "How Far I'll Go" serves as Moana's ... The content in which animation companies produces is often relevant to current and most important events that are occurring. This has shown to be true throughout the many decades of animation. Between the years of 1942 and 1945, the years of World War II, Walt Disney Studios were found to have been producing mass propaganda for the U.S. Government for the purpose of increased morale and support throughout the war. Disney Studios at the time was an extremely popular animation studio which made them incredibly relevant to the public community. Through their use of highly appealing characters and cartoons, Disney served as a perfect model to spread information about the current war to the people. Through this, we see that animation is a strong conveyer of relevant information and also serves to track how society's trends are ever changing. Technology keeps advancing, and 3D is being widely used in the film industry. Yina Chang is one of the talented professors in the animation department. She teaches Art 233 (Character set–up) and Art 235 (character animation). In her class, before they animate on the computer, they sketch it out on a story board to get their ideas flowing. Then, they begin their animation process. "I teach hands on skill that prepare my students for the animation industry" Chang said. The main software they use is Maya, an animation program used internationally. The program contains modeling, texture, and a lighting simulation, and there is a generator to process images. "Maya is one of the best animation packages" Chang said. Chang spent years working professionally in the animation industry. She has participated in several big–budget productions throughout her successful career including "Apollo 13" (Gene Kranz 1995), "Star Wars" (George Lucas 2002) and "Frozen" (Chirs buck 2013). It is moved in tiny increments between frames photographed individually. This creates the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. Animation has been around from five different Era's like Silent Age, Golden Age, Dark Age, Renaissance Age, and millennium Age. Most people don't know the history of animation, and think that you need technology to make it and use it, but let's go back and see how it was used. To begin with, J. Stuart Blackton was the very first person to make an animated film in 1906. He almost made the first animation back in the silent age which was 1900–1928. Back in the silent age, technology was just barley taking off. Technology was getting big and they started inventing TVs and other stuff, and also animation. Animation with the rise of technology it was a whole new system during the silent age. Now, animation had existed for a while before the silent age but this is when a large numbers of people actually started to notice of the medium and what it could do. The animation that people were doing in the silent age were stop motions. That's about all people could have done with animation, because technology wasn't as advance as it is today. Walt Disney started using animation in the silent age, just when they were barley starting off. Naturally, the silent age came to screeching halt with the rise of sound technology in the late 1920s. Disney and many other studios quickly worked to take advantage of the new technology, while former stars like Felix the Cat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Art of Digital Animation Norman McLaren said, "Animation is not the art of drawings that move but the art of movements that are drawn." To be a digital animator, independence and social skills are needed. Strong design skills and computer savvy will be key. (Clark 185) To be successful or to even get a job the animator needs a proper foundation. Having social skills, years of experience, and even a degree (not often) are needed to do so. The long hours can be fun or enjoyable in the beginning seeing as the animator is doing what they love but eventually, they will be exhausted and with deadlines they can screw their self over without being prepared. Being educated in the field is highly suggested, to understanding of color, form, shape, dynamics, and so on is needed. However, the only way the animator can truly learn is through experience, actual practice. Some people look to be apprentices to other animator and learn through being in that type of environment. Being a digital animator has it's pros, cons, is full of history, and has a simple method of getting into. Digital animation is a vital piece in the entertainment industry today. Talented artists from all over get into the field to create amazing works of art. An animator produces multiple images that are referred to as frames. These frames when compiled in sequence create a moving picture known as animation. Word Count: 701 Abstract This study addresses the viability of auteurism in the contemporary moving image industries and the significance of this in relation to whether or not an animator can be considered a genuine auteur within the wider context of general artistic practice. The purpose is to provide an up to date and comprehensive, analytical framing of auteur theory and enhance the arguments laid down by critics, thinkers and theorists on both the psychoanalysis concerned with the consideration of the 'original' self in a postmodern society and whether the collaborative, creative nature of the animation industry lends itself to the term auteur. The dissertation will provide a social, historical and theoretical study of a number of discourses concerned with the animation industry, examining distinguishable personalities within the medium and formulating a thesis on arguments limiting auteur theory to the status of "high art" whilst questioning the genealogical construction of understanding surrounding the bourgeois construct of authorship. The paper sets about to provide an unbiased argument on the authentic nature of auteurism within contemporary perceptions of animated cinema,

  • 14. Redefining Animation Methods: From the Past to the Future There is a huge industry dedicated to animation and creating entertainment like movies, cartoons, video games, and educational software to deliver a message, tell a story, and/or educate the masses. Animation is the process of creating a continuous motion and shape change illusion by means of the rapid display of a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other. Anyone who as ever turned on a television, gone to the movies, or seen a commercial has been exposed to an animation style at some point. Some love animation and some are not so interested in it, but regardless it is a booming business that started out simply and is evolving at a rapid pace. Animation today is very advanced and it is amazing what technologies go into putting things into action, especially when it comes to current animated features and video games. Creators have been able to make fictional characters appear as if they are real and they have extraordinary detail, take three–dimensional animation for example. With some 3–D animations it is hard to differentiate if it is indeed an animation or a film with real actors. Scenery can be just as detailed as its real counterparts and characters, although still cartoon–like, have very realistic detail from facial muscle movement to pigment in their skin and eyes. There are some two dimensional works that are exceptional as well. Many are created by drawing out each individual scene and combine in sequence. One can see that 2–D ... • 15. Stop Motion Animation Stop motion animation: Stop motion animation is when you take a picture of something, move it ever so slightly (depending on how smooth you want the sequence to be) then take another picture and so on and so on. The sequence of pictures will create an illusion of a moving image. When creating a stop motion animation it can either be done traditionally or a computer can be used to generate the background sets. Examples of stop–motion animation on TV are commonly children's shows such as Morph, Shaun the sheep, Bagpuss, The Clangers, Noddy and Wallace and Gromit's World of Invention. The advantage of stop motion animation is that you can be creative because there aren't many limitations on what you can do with an object like you do in real life. The disadvantage is that it's very time consuming and extremely laborious and you have to make sure the camera's still because one little slip up shows very clearly. Clay animation: It is similar to stop motion animation however using clay. It works by capturing each frame and then playing the recorded shots to see a live action. Clay animation films were created in the 1908's, however it's in 1916 that it started to become popular overseas. Each clay character is produced by using a wire and clay, the wire is called an armature. The disadvantage of clay is that it's very fragile therefor when producing and shooting the characters and objects must not be altered by any smudges, hair or dust ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, for an animation to be successful, the animator should meet the audience–based expectations. As I reflect on my animation project, I will focus on the four core competencies used in the making of this project. Critical Thinking – The first competency used in my project involved the process of critical thinking. Before I came up with a story for my animation, I thought about numerous ideas that could potentially assist me with exploring the basic fundamentals and skills of animation. The first step was to identify the problem as well as the factors that could influence it. In this case, the type of animation that would be well–suited for children ages two to ten. Once I had a clear picture of the problem and the target audience, I began to dive deeper into the issue and its possible solutions. Researching was my second step in the critical thinking process. When using research for this project, I came up with ideas that were relevant and useful to the task at hand. Impact of Technology on the Animation Industry Essay Impact of Technology on the Animation Industry In 1988, the live action and animation hybrid "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" introduced a whole new way of making animation movies (Elkins, 2003). Three years later, in 1991, "Beauty and the Beast" was an Oscar nominee for best picture, which showed how popular this genre had become (Elkins, 2003). After the art department has added colour and visual looks on figures and surfaces, three–dimensional models are made on computers. This is done by either creating a sculpture which is scanned or by direct modeling using computer software. Hinges are added to move the figures, and a character like "Woody" in "Monster Inc." has as much as a hundred hinges in his face. After the models are made, they are dressed, to make a proper visualization. When making the shots, virtual cameras are used to record different scenes. Without the aid of the new technology, it would be impossible to achieve the same results. After the decision has been made on which virtual camera shot to use, the figures are animated to create the scene (Pixar, 2004a). At Pixar, they do not paint or draw the figures in the final stage, but use the ones already made. By using the hinges, the figures are controlled like puppeteers, creating movement and different emotions. This provides the movie makers with options they would not have without the new technology. The large chest designs were sort of cocky lawyers who think they always win cases. The skinny design is meant to be a less confident lawyer who usually doesn't win cases. Furthering themselves into their profession so they stand out. Secondly, he recommended working in depth in a single area of the field and excelling at that aspect. • 31. Animation: Stop Motion Animation Stop Motion Animation Stop motion is a technique which makes an inanimate object e.g a toy or clay model and makes it seem to move on its own. This can be done by taking many photos and making minuscule movements between each photo (each frame). When the photos are played together the illusion of movement is apparent. Elements of stop motion have been apparent since the early days of film usually to portray magic. The origins of stop motion start with Peter Roget who wrote a paper on 'The persistence of vision with regard to moving objects' in 1824,this was about the illusion of inanimate objects moving. This was taken and adapted by Dr Joseph Antoine Plateau and Dr. Simon Rittrer in 1831. They took this idea of illusion through movement and created the phenakistoscope which was essential a ... • 32. Stop Motion Animation Stop–motion animation requires the shooting of physically manipulated still objects to appear as moving objects. Some use dolls, props or clay (also known as called Claymation) to sequentially move an object in between individually shot frames. Depending on the preference of the director, stop–motion animation may also require either traditional or computer animation to supplement the movie's other visual requirements such as the backgrounds, sets, and props. The disadvantage of clay is that it's very fragile therefor when producing and shooting the characters and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My potential blog topic is about animation and my version on certain cartoon. I would like to redraw my favorite cartoon characters and will inform why I like the cartoonist's style. The cartoon art was one of the reasons I wanted to do try different artistic media such as drawing, painting, or graphic designing. I was thinking, I can ask other people about their favorite characters and in what style they would like to see in. For example, Snoopy from the Peanuts in a Tim Burton style or whatever they prefer. My blog is for anyone who likes cartoons or who wants to do a request. In this essay, I will explore the animation style, describe and inform the reason why I like art. The blog reflects on my own identity is by growing up watching animations such as: Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and even anime shows. I was interested in art by looking at the animator and cartoonist art style. In 2004, Foster's Home for the Imaginary Friends had first aired and it had inspired me to doodles creatures and people. The inspiration came based on the characters' design. The design of the main and background characters are different and unique. For example, one of the main characters is called Bloo and he looked like a blue ghost and yet he has body movements that seems like he has knees. No one in the cartoon looks like him since ... Advancement In Animation Essay Advances in Animation and Their Effects on Modern Cinema Animation has been a huge contributor to today's media when it comes to movies and televisions programing. For decades, using a series of images to create the illusion of movement, has evolved into billion dollar industries for entertainment. Animated movies are in a completely different league of their own and, no matter how simple they may seem, require a sufficient amount of technique as well as technology. Even live action movies use some form of animation in order to create worlds that could have never been possible without technology. This form of entertainment has shaped standards when it comes to what people expect to see in films in the 21st century. Animation, no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They both have their place in modern media, and they both have their own attributes. In order to fully understand the magnitude of how much of a gap in popularity there is between these two different techniques in animating there must be clear statistics that show proof how these movies fair in the box offices. For instance, take a look at Disney's Princess and the Frog which was a traditionally animated film. It had done well when it came to what movie critics had to say about it, however, it failed in comparison to Pixar at the box office with a return of only $267million (Child n.p). The newest adaption to Winnie the Pooh also received wonderful reviews from critics but was only able to bring in $33million worldwide (Child n.p). Take these two movies and compare them to Bolt (2009) and Tangled (2010) which grossed $310million and $590million individually (Child n.p). That doesn't necessarily make Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh "bad" movies; critics seemed to think they were just fine. However there is a clear gap between the money made by the CGI films and the hand–drawn films. Furthermore, the matter of whether or not they were both made by different companies is of the question seeing as how all four films were produced by Disney. Traditional animation, using hand–drawn images, has been successful for many decades and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the interview, Scott Clark discusses about how complex animation has become over time from how animation used to be completed fifteen or so years ago and how this new technology takes animations to a whole new level, referring to their most recent film, Monsters University. The tools of technology has become "a big fancy pencil" said Clark. Even though there are dozens of new tools animators use in this time, there are still tools we use that were created almost 20 years ago. As technology advances, work becomes a little faster but still takes the patience trait needed. Takahashi asks Clark about having an army to create these films. Clark responds that as films get richer and complex, such as with more characters, that it pretty much takes an army to complete the film. Each person is hand animating something. Chang, Soojin. • 38. The Effects Of Animation On The Animation Industry, Men... Average people that have little to no idea how animation is done still (hopefully) understand that it takes creativity, unique ideas, and most of all passion to do your job successfully. So it is my guess that one would be very surprised to find out that even in the animation industry, men are more desired for jobs than women. How can animation be dominated by a single gender? Men and women have great ideas, both can tell wonderful stories, and both can pull from their personal experiences and incorporate them to their work – so what reason would there be to discriminate against female artists? At this point the word "discriminate" may or may not be sudden of me to suggest, especially from the point of view of those who have trouble imagining such a thing happening in an industry such as this. My way of getting through to you would be to bring up facts here and now, so that we can start off on the right track. A quick break down of the animation workforce should help put this issue into perceptive. According to figures compiled for 2015 by the Animation Guild for WIA (Women in Animation), only 20% of the animation workforce is made up of women, which is questionable when it is known that 60% of students attending animation schools are women. A significant gap. To go into further statistics, it has been recorded that women make up 10% of all producing/directing positions, 17% of all writers , 21% of all art/designers and 23% of all animators. • 39. Animation Of The Animation Industry What is animation? Animation is a vivid, beautiful form of art that's used to display kinetic motion. In history many animations have been produced for a variety of reasons: entertainment, education, research, and even propaganda. The possibilities that come with animations are endless. The animation industry has been introduced roughly a century ago, yet not until recently has it begun to boom with reports in 2008 estimating the industry to be worth $68.4 billion dollars1. Throughout history this art form has evolved not only through technology, but through the influences of society as well; and with the influences of animation society has been impacted. The reason I specify the definition of animation is because the origin of animation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowing this should change your perspective on animation and expand your mind to realize that animation, in a way, participated in history even before technology. Now looking at a less abstract definition of animation, we can now review the use of animation that could be recognized as animation without as much explanation(however, this section still covers the use of animation before film). In 1603, the "Magic Lantern" was invented by Dutch scientist, Christiaan Huygens(yes it's Christian with two A's). This Magic Lantern was the first projector to be invented. This projector has the capability of projecting moving parts: hence why it's considered an animation. In 1824, the Thaumatrope was invented4. This was "a rotating mechanism mechanism with a different picture on each side,"4 allowing for this to display motion using a combination of the pictures. In 1831, the phenakistoscope was invented allowing motion to be displayed using several sets of mirrors around a spinning disk4. In 1868, the flipbook, also known as a kineograph, became popular allowing the user to flip several note–sized sheets of paper that was used as the different frames to simulate a motion as the images quickly changed4. This can give you the idea of how animation evolved through the use of technology. Here we enter the silent era that lasts from 1900–1930. In 1906, "Humorous Phases of Funny Faces,"the first ... The Peabody Awards have a long history of finding and rewarding shows that exhibit excellence in television programming, and Avatar: The Last Airbender is no exception. The show was incredibly successful during its run and even though it ended almost a decade ago, still has a large fan base of all different ages and genders. The show has also inspired several graphic novels and print books as well as a spinoff series, Avatar: The Legend of Korra. Avatar is an excellent example of how mixing styles and genres can enhance a show's potential. Running for 61 episodes over three seasons, Avatar features an unusually deep plot for a children's cartoon. In her article "The Influence of Japanese Animation on Avatar: The Last Airbender", Katalin Bakonyi mentions that this is significant because, "American TV animation tends to be constructed in an episodic way, where at the end of every episode characters are "reset" to their default status." (Bakonyi 30) This is not the case in Avatar, however, where the overarching plot is stated within the first couple episodes – Aang must master the four elements and defeat the Firelord before the end of summer – and stays true to this mission all the way to the end. Although the group occasionally gets off track, each episode propels them towards that final goal in one way or another. Few, if any, children's cartoons have such a clearly stated, overarching plot that it remains true to over the course of multiple seasons. More often cartoons are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
