1. Target Audience Target Audiences are set to focus on different groups: Adults, teens and children. It is essential to become familiar with your target market for example their habits, behaviors, likes, and dislikes. Markets differ in size, assortment, geographic scale, locality, types of communities, and in the different types of merchandise sold and because of the many variations included in a market it is essential, since you cannot accommodate everyone’s preferences, to know exactly who you are marketing to and the specific fondness of that market. (Source: Wikipedia ) Our target audience is teenagers because we are aiming to entertain and educate them about ‘city life’ and how it works. To achieve this we are making a 1 minute short film with the theme ‘city life’. The reasons we have chosen teenagers as our target audience is because more teenagers and children aged 13 and over are interested in horror films compared to adults and young children. The reason we have chosen horror because horror and city life are a good combination, in the city there’s tall massive buildings and some narrow quite places. The setting is really good for horror films. Teenagers and city life go together really well, this is because city life relates to them as most teenagers are out and about in the city. however other teenagers might not be into city life but they will get a feeling of how it is to be in a city.
2. The History Of Short Films The history of short films began in 1910’s in the United States of America. The custom in film making was to include a feature followed by a single or shorter subject. The short films could be animated or live action. The theme of the films in the earlier history of short films was usually comedy. Short films were usually in the structure of travelogues back then. However in the 1930’s short films began to die, but in the 1955 another competitor made a remarkable short film that was the rise of television. Charlie Chaplin started making short films then later began as a comic actor.
3. 3 successful short films LOVEFIELD by Mathieu Ratthe Love field combines elements of horror, suspense and drama A to create a story that takes the audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions. NIKE FOOTBALL This Nike short film is advertising their products, using young actors to get to their most important target audience which are teenagers and young adults. They use a lot of imagery and fast pictures to attractive any audience and give them a feel of how things are with them.

5. Conventions of a short film The conventions of making a good film is first of all making it short adding lots of animation and imagery also graphic designs. Making it new so it attracts a lot of publicity. Also because it so short there should be a strong message sent out for example “talk to frank”, where they try to send a good message across on how bad drugs are also another purpose of short films is that it can also advertise things like Nike trailers to advertise their product.
