Mollie Goodnight did all that she could throughout her whole life from taking care of her siblings
right after both of her parents' deaths, to just teaching some of her husband's farm hands how to
read. Mollie tried to do her best even in the darkest of times, which is one of the reasons that she is

Charles Goodnight was one of the best known cattle ranchers in Texas history. His accomplishments

was published September 3, 1947 about two years after World War Two ended. After World War
Two many wives were widowed and many children were fatherless. The book Goodnight Moon was
labeled as Contemporary Realistic Fiction, meaning it was believable and set in the modern world.
Margaret Wise Brown constantly experimented with writing children 's literature. She tried new

Goodnight Mr Tom
In the historical fiction, Goodnight, Mr. Tom written by Michelle Magorian, Willie changes both
mentally and physically into a more open–minded, more socialized, and more outgoing character
with Mr Tom's help. Some events and actions that lead to Willie's changes are when Mr Tom helps
Willie make friends, Mr Tom helps Willie to stop bed–wetting, and when he helps Willie to find his
passion in art and talent in performing. Mr Tom is a great dad and companion to Willie and he
always encourage Willie to do things bravely, teaching him to become what he wants to be, he also
boosts Willie up when he's feeling down.

For instance, he participated in helping Willie discover his talent in art, passion in painting, and his
likes for plays as well. In addition, he encourages him to do races with Sammy the dog, and after he
loses he comforts him which seems pretty useful as Willie finds confidence :"Can't expect to be
good first time. Takes practice. Sam's had more'n you. Anyways, you beat me, didn't you?"
(Magorian 86). Eventually, after he discovers Willie's talent in art, he give him special birthday
presents, "I take it you like them," murmured Tom. "I chose them meself, like" (Magorian 109). This
evidence proves that when Willie receives the birthday presents from Mr Tom which he loves –
paint brushes and art equipments, Tom immediately encourage him to start his first drawing as he
discover his talent in art. Besides that, when Willie first participate in the play A Christmas Carol,
there's a disaster, the actor playing Scrooge is missing, so Willie need to have a try for the girl's part,
but he actually does an excellent job on it, imagining himself as the character. Furthermore, later as
he goes back home and tells Mr Tom who encourages him, make a joke, and is truly happy for him,
"Reckon we'll both be needin' that tea extra sweet tonight, eh, boy" (Magorian 109)? Above all the
physcial changes, the most significant one is that Willie is growing, "I'm growing"

Mirvish's Discount Store History
If you're from Toronto, chances are you're familiar with the flashing bright entrance and quirky
handwritten signs of Honest Ed's. The iconic establishment was initially opened up as a discount
store in 1948 by Ed Mirvish but has since become one of the cities most well known landmarks for
tourists and locals alike. Located on the corner of Bloor and Bathurst, the kitsch department stores
twenty–three thousand bulb sign isn't the only interesting thing about the place; the merchandise
inside ranges from tube socks to gold Elvis busts, each advertised with a unique hand painted sign.

The Mirvish family was left with the massive store that was losing its sales while the value of its
real estate rose, making it's sale almost inevitable.
The Vancouver based developer who purchased the site revealed their hopes of using the space to
build a 1000–unit rental project there, including parks, public squares and childcare facilities.
To commemorate its vibrant history, the TTC has give Bathurst station a makeover, replacing all the
signs with hand written ones, and covering the walls with cheeky statements that would make Ed
Mirvish proud such as "Been there Dundas."
The installation is said to last until the end of this year but there is some discussion as to making it
permanent. The idea was thought up by TTC manager of customer service, Chris Upfold who stated,
"The store was there before the subway. It was there when we were running streetcars on Bloor. We
helped customers and staff get to Honest Ed's then, and we'll continue to serve the residents of the
new development in the future,"

Margaret Wise Brown Goodnight Moon Analysis
I chose the book Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown because this was one of my favorite
books as a child. This book was very important to me as a child for multiple reasons. One being that
my mom and/or dad would read it to me every night before I went to sleep. I remember this clearly
because it would help me fall asleep at night. I think this book was very appealing to me because
after my mom or dad finished reading it to me, we would go around the room and say goodnight to
everything. This made me laugh every time! I remember reading this book and when it got to the
part that says "Goodnight mush," I would have to ask my parents what that meant. I never failed to

Theme Of Goodnight Mist Tom
Introduction
William Beech is the protagonist, the main character, in the plot of Michelle Magorian's Goodnight
Mister Tom. A plot is the course of action in a literary work. He is evacuated from London during
the merge of World War II to a little village, Little Weirwold, at the country side north of the city.
As he arrives he is just an unloved, shy, uncared for and abused 8 year old boy. But as time goes by
in Little Weirwold, William transforms into a self–confident, happy boy.
As community is an important theme of the book, one could trace that the two contrasting settings
influence Will's development. A theme is the underlying interpretation of the literary work.

The comradiere community of Little Weirwold enhances Will's development.
He is continuously involved in the community. In several passages throughout the book, it is stated
that Will is developing as he lives in Little Weirwold, mainly because of the camaraderie – the
mutual trust and friendship within the community.
The whole community is "taking one for the team" as many of the residents take in evacuees.
Everyone knows about everyone as it is a close and small community. Everyone tries to help
everyone, the citizens are supportive and assist Tom in helping William to settle down in Little
Weirwold. They are being welcoming to the evacuees.
When they were welcoming the evacuees into Little Weirwold, the children invited Will to a picnic.
"When everyone was reasonably settled, Mr. Peters stood in front of the congregation and clasped
his hands. "Good morning," he began. "Now I know we have several denominations gathered here
today, especially amongst our new visitors, who I hope will be happy and safe inside our homes. If
