This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
This publication [communication] reflects the views only of the author, and the Commission cannot
be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
WHO IS ORHAN PAMUK

 Orhan Pamuk is a famous
          Turkish novelist, best
          known for works that
          probe Turkish identity
          and history.
         He is also teaching
          comparative
          literature and writing
          at Columbia University.
HOW HAS HE BECOME A UNIVERSAL
           FIGURE?

 His brilliance in writing fiction paved the way
for his worldwide recognition. The White
Castle is the fırst novel that was translated
and that made Pamuk known universally.
 Orhan Pamuk’s books have been translated
   into 46 languages, including
   Georgian, Malayan, Czech, Danish, Japanese,
Catalan, as well as English, German and
French. In 2005, Pamuk has been awarded
The Peace Prize, which is considered as the
most prestigious award in Germany in the
   field of culture.
PAMUK’S LIFE
     Pamuk was born in
      Istanbul, Turkey, on June
      7, 1952
 His father was a civil
      engineer and also a
      lecturer at university.
      Pamuk grew up in an
      affluent, secular
      household.
 He attended the prestigious
  American Robert College in
  Istanbul and later went on
  to get education at the
  University of Istanbul, where
  he got his B.A. in
  journalism.
 Until the age of thirty,
  Pamuk lived with his parents
  who allowed him to
  concentrate first on his
  paintings then writings by
  supporting him financially.
HIS LEARNIG INTERESTS
 When he was a
  child, he liked painting
  so much and wanted to
  be a painter. His family
  always supported him
  for his paintings. After
  many years he started
  writing and in this field
  he received a number
  of awards.
HIS LEARNING STYLE IN SCHOOL
 He was a visual learner at
  school which can explain his
  great interest in painting. He
can be thought as a right-
brained person in the light of
  this information.
 At the same time he was a
  great dreamer. He always
  dreamed about everything.
  He was very different from
  other students in this
  respect.
 These features of him made
  him a genious writer.
Pamuk’s drawing-writing notebook
exhibits that he liked to combine
his literary and artistic skills.
He was a different child.when
others took notes about their
life, pamuk was pictured his
dreams and told his dreams…
His Key to Succes

 Something is of vital importance
  in Pamuk’s journey to success:
  dreams! He always followed his
  dreams and believed that his
dreams would come true a day.
  He was patient and determined.
What he mainly did was to use
hıs skills in the right way.
