Question 7
1. QUESTION 7: LOOKING BACK AT
YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT
DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT
IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO
THE FULL PRODUCT?
Connor Newbury
2. Skills I had before I started the course
• Before I started the course, I had no knowledge of how to
use Adobe Premier Pro. I had seen some friends use it in
year 11, however I had never touched it myself. It had
always looked really complicated.
3. Skills I had before I started the course
• Before I started the course I had only used a camera to
take pictures. If I used it to record something, the
recorded item would not have been very good.
4. How I improved my skills
• Before I started my coursework, I completed a preliminary
task which allowed me to practice my camera skills, and it
allowed me to practice my editing skills.
• Before I did a preliminary task, I completed a practice film,
I had to team up with 3 other people in order to create a
short sequence of shots. We had to film this and edit it in
the space of 3 lessons. This allowed me to get to grips
with Adobe Premier Pro.
5. Improvements I’ve made
• Comparing my film opening to my preliminary task, I can
see a lot of improvements. For example I use a lot of
different camera angles/shots.
• Also while filming I was a lot more aware of the 180
degree rule.
• I also took a lot more time to film this piece, and if
something wasn’t basically perfect in a scene, I would re-
shoot it.
• I was also aware of continuity, and everything had to flow
together.
6. Skills I would like to develop
• In the future, I would like to learn how to use Adobe After
Effects, this is because I would like to be able to add
certain effects, such as rising smoke, to my titles.
• I would also like to learn more about Premier Pro because
I currently only know how to use the basic tools and
functions on it.
