1. Question 6
What have you leant about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Blogger
• When I first starting using blogger I was very
unfamiliar with it and was terrible a writing up
what I needed to write
• I learnt the skills to make it look interesting,
embed videos, upload videos and actually it
wasn’t hard to pick up how to use it once
starting
• Although I would have preferred to learn how
to use it earlier on as we had to use it ALOT
3. Filming
• Considering I had done no media properly before this,
I learnt a lot about filming. I learnt about the different
shots, how medium shots aren't very effective, and
the effectiveness of the long and short shots.
• I learnt about using the tripod and the difference
between handheld and tripod shots and how
important it is
• We used the school cameras so there wasn’t too
much technology to learn although it was difficult to
coordinate having to sign it out of school!
• what I would do differently is be more organised with
the equipment make sure the camera is charged,
everything works before we set out to film
4. Filming continued
• We didn’t have much trouble with lighting as we
used normal daylight
• If I did it again though I would want to
experiment with more lighting techniques as I
think it looks better and more effective
• The location we filmed at was difficult as we kept
getting kicked out so next time we would need to
get a popper letter so that we didn’t get kicked
out as much and wouldn’t be as rushed trying to
film
5. Editing
• Before this year the only video editing I had done was on windows
movie make which is not a very advanced program
• We used premiere pro at school which was a massive jump and I
learnt loads about how to edit the video
• Essentially I learnt the whole basics about editing a video and it
really opened up the creative opportunities of what we could do to
our film
• The only problem was the difficulties with the computers at school,
one room has MAC’s and one room had PC’s which were not
compatible with each other so things crashed a lot as we started
working on the MAC’s and couldn’t convert to PC’s
• What I would do differently would be to start work on the PC’s and
keep a backup file at all time so that we done loose everything
when something crashes
• My advice would be to learn about premiere pro as early on as
possible so that you are not behind when trying to edit
6. Garage Band
• Garage band was new to me and I loved it, I didn’t
know that you could make tracks without using the
premade loops, and that was amazing as we actually
made our own loops
• We recorded sounds and us speaking and using garage
band technology we altered our voices to sound like
males and different people and made it sound like we
were actually on the radio
• What I would do differently would be to not spend as
long on creating the music/or do the music after the
film as it did cut us down a lot with the time to film
• My advice would be to explore and use as much of
garage band as you can so that you don’t use the
premade loops as its I a lot better and looks much
more professional
7. Other Media
• With media AS we are encouraged to use other types
of media to show our work for example powtoons,
glogster, YouTube annotating, prezi and many more
• This seems like a lot of effort as first but it is very worth
it as you get things done in a much professional way so
my advice would be to take advantage and learn
• I wish that I had learnt more about these different
types of media and taken more advantage of what
there was to use as it is a lot better an easier that
writing essays
• I felt like I got a lot more what I wanted to say across
than if I had written essays , so it opened up creative
oppotunity
8. More Advice
• Make sure you try hard to find a good location as it
pays off and filming at school can look a bit effortless
• Start filming, writing up, doing course work early and
don’t leave it to the last minute
• Write up posts on the blog as often as possible as you
will get a better grade
• Explore and take advantage of what you can do it the
media department and all the programs and
technologies you might not have at home or anywhere
else, it can help build skills and is great expiriance!
