1. Question 6: What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Strengths I Gained
One of the new skills I gained through my coursework period would be filming. I have used
cameras for photography, but never properly for filmed. From the prelim task to our 2 min
film intro I feel my camera work improved. This is because whilst filming the 2 min intro I
had learnt my lesson on the mistakes I had made with prelim task, such as breaking the 180
degree rule which cost me originally. I was also more aware of what the lighting would be
like at times to film at, my first shoot for Hostage (my two min intro) was too dark, so re-
shot earlier in the evening. The only downside of this was I was more rushed than I would
like to have been. That is something else I have really learnt from this first year, every
element from filming to finding the right soundtrack for the film takes much longer than I
planned.
The main skill I gained was how to edit on Adobe Premier. At first I found it very tricky to
use and was often asking for help and struggling to remember information I was being
taught as I found some of the technical expressions tricky to understand fully. After practise
such as editing a clip for Romeo and Juliet and the prelim task I felt much more confident
whilst editing Hostage. I managed to add elements that I had not done before such as a
title, music and how to increase and decrease the volume of music and certain times so it
did not over power the actors speech.
3. Photoshop
I had used Photoshop a
number of times before
needing to use it for my
Evaluation. So cropping
screen-prints to use to discuss
my camera shots was not a
problem.
4. Prezi
I hadn’t even heard of Prezi
until about 5 minutes
before I decided to use it to
answer the question on
who my target market was
for Hostage. It was straight
forward to use and it tells
you how to do everything
as you do it. It worked well
for the question .
5. Adobe Premiere Pro
I knew of Premiere, but had
never used it. I found it
tricky at first but became
more confident with practise
as the year went on. I still
know there is room for me
to improve in my A2 year.
6. Other Technologies Used
I used Outlook.com to communicate with my
teachers. Microsoft word to type and take notes.
As well as YouTube to watch extracts or trailers I
felt would benefit me. All three of these I knew of
and had no problems using.
7. Other Technologies Used
I used google chrome to
conduct research and get
pictures that I needed.
I used Powerpoint to
answer ‘Who is likely
distributor for your media
product’ and this
question.
