1. Location Analysis
For my magazine, I have taken a considerable amount of images of people I
consider appealing to my target audience. I used those images for my front
cover, contents page and double page spread. All of them have been taken on a
plain white background. I have chosen a plain white background because it
gives me the possibility to photoshop a different background that is more
appropriate for Pop magazines. I used photoshop for most of my photos in order
to make them look more appealing and related to pop music. It is easier to add a
background to a picture than take pictures in different locations and it can be
easily changed or removed. It is also more appealing as it can be modified in
order to look better. The images are clearer and stand out more, the audience
will focus on the artist rather than the background. I have decided to use a white
screen as this is used by the majority of existing pop magazines, as it allows the
background to be changed and also lets the reader focus on the artist featured
rather than the background.
2. While some magazines choose to leave the background white, I decided
to Photoshop it and make it a baby pink colour. I believe this colour is
appropriate for the target audience and blends in well with the font I
have used. It also doesn’t stand out too much and allows the focus to be
on the artist.
