1. Question 4 – 'How did you use
media technologies in the
construction and research, planning
and evaluation stages?'
2. Research - INTERNET-
● YouTube – I watched different music videos to
gain an understanding of what most music
videos include.
● Google – Once myself and my media partner
decided on the song 'Hero' by Enrique which is
a ballad song, we used Google to research
background information etc about Enrique and
ballad songs in general. This meant that it
provided us both with a better understanding of
the artist whom we were influenced by and
therefore outlined to us what we therefore
needed to include in our own music video and
ancillary texts.
3. Planning -
● Storyboard – We created a storyboard online
which allowed us to create visuals of how we
wanted our music video to look and to be
presented.
4. Construction – Filming.
● Camera – This was our main device that we
used in order to film our music video.
● Lighting & Tripod – Lighting was sometimes
needed for scenes were lighting was an issue.
Similiarly, we also used a tripod for some
scenes which were still shots. These elements
helped with the construction as it was made
evident that just a camera on its own wouldn't
have been ample as other factors needed to be
taken into consideration.
5. ● Mobile Phones – We used mobile phones for 2
main reasons
1) – To contact each other to either arrange
when to meet to film or discuss our plans for
our music video.
2) – Being able to take pictures.
6. Post Production – Editing etc.
● Final Cut Pro – We used final cut pro to edit our
music video. Personally, I found it simple to use
as I have previously used this software before.
Whilst one of us were editing, the other would
be assisting telling each other what to edit, and
where to move the clips to etc. This meant that
both of us were involved.
7. ● Idesign – We used this software to create our
digipak.
Firstly, we researched digipak templates on
Google, downloaded the template we both
agreed on and then started to edit it on iDesign.
I haven't used iDesign before so I decided to
watch some YouTube videos showing how to
work this particular media technology.
Overall, after watching the tutorials on how to
use iDesign, I feel a lot more confident using it
and I believe our digipak is proof of this.
8. - Photoshop
● Similarly to iDesign, I haven't really used
photoshop previously so I therefore watched
some tutorials online.
Both me and my partner are overall very hppy
with our magazine advert but I personally
believe that if I had more experience using it, it
would have been less time consuming to create
our ancillary text.
9. Evaluation -
● When doing my evaluation I wanted to show
that I was able to use a variety of different
media technologies.
I therefore used:
Windows movie maker,
Slideshare
Final Cut Pro & Live Type
10. ● Windows movie maker was used to answer
question 1.
I chose to use this software as I previously
hadn't used it and therefore thought that it
would be a good idea to use it.
It is extremely easy to use and I am very
pleased with how question 1has been
presented.
In order for me to convert this to a video to
upload on to my blog, I used Vimeo which is
simple to use and uploaded it to share in
minutes.
11. - Slideshare
● This website has been used a few times, it's
simple and easy to use. I believe it presents my
answers to the evaluation questions clearly and
also allows me to include pictures with the text.
12. - Final cut pro & Live Type was used for
question 3 regarding audience feedback.
● I used both final cut pro and live type in
conjunction with each other as final cut pro was
needed to edit the audience feedback and live
type was needed to add the questions which
appeared on the screen.
● I decided to use final cut pro as I believe that
recording the audience feedback is a better and
more effective way of seeing what they actually
thought, through their expressions and body
language.
13. In conclusion, throughout this project I have
used a wide variety of different media
technologies which have all evidently been
shown through my planning, research,
construction/editing, and evaluation.
