Discuss the Advantages and Disadvantages, to the...
With the lowest integrated level in regional economic integration, Free Trade Arrangement (FTA) is
applied most frequently, accounting for almost 90% of regional integration. (Hill 2007)
Theoretically, all trade barriers both tariffs and non–tariff ones are eliminated in an ideal FTA.
However, each member countries are free to determine independent trade policies against
nonmember countries. (Hill 2007) Currently, the number of free trade arrangements is proliferating.
FTA spread almost all over the world with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations
(ASEAN) are the most famous trade blocs. Additionally, in the Northeast Asia, China, Japan and ...

The most essential disadvantage of FTA is the potential cost from trade diversion. It occurs when
low–cost external suppliers are replaced in favor of suppliers in FTA partner countries. (Hill 2007)
Such trade actually does negative effect on the economy's overall efficiency. In the traditional trade
theories view, costs arise form non–optimal allocation of resources. For importing countries, loss
exists partially because government impose tariff and the overall wealth fear would be larger when
import goods from external low–cost producers. In addition, when establish a free trade area, certain
groups may lose and they are easier to be identified than gainers. (Hill 2007) In the natural course of
event, increase in unemployment in some industries is a typical phenomenon. For example, foreign
trade in terms of both imports and exports has impacted US employment seriously. Estimated by the
Economic Policy Institute, NAFTA resulted in a loss of 879,280 jobs between 1993 and 2002. (Scott
2003) Furthermore, unfair treatment to member countries might exist due to different development
level. Taking Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) as an example, developing countries in
this FTA would access to an open market lagged ten years than their developed partners. (APEC
2005) In political, FTA is a double–edged sword. In opposite with its benefits, member countries
would concern their national

Circle B Bar Reserve Case Study
Circle B Bar Reserve was purchased to help maintain the Banana Creek marsh area in the 1900's.
The reserve was named after the ranch that they had bought it from. In the 1994, a referendum was
passed that allowed the reserve to be funded by a management program. This program is called the
Environmental Lands Program, which purpose "is to acquire, preserve, protect, manage, and restore
endangered and environmentally sensitive lands, water resources and important wildlife habitat."
Over the years, the reserve has restored the ranch to its natural habitat and has protected the land and
animals that it is home to. To help improve the county through an economic standpoint, the reserve
has restored the marsh which helps flood control. Since Florida ... Show more content on

One day in the fourth grade, my teacher asked the class if they wanted to either go outside or stay
working on math problems if we behaved badly. Believe it or not, I chose to stay and work on math
problems even though I was always well behaved. This action (even though it was many years ago)
reflects who I am today. When given the chance, I dont always go out to hang out with friends and
have fun. I mostly stay home trying to get as much homework done as I can. Now homework isn't
the only thing I do with my life. The subjects that I excel most in are Mathematics and English. My
grades in those classes are always above average. I believe that math come very easy to me, and I
grasp an understanding fairly quickly. I am naturally a hard worker, so when I'm working on a math
problem I will usually continue working on it until I get the right answer. Math is also something
that I enjoy doing, which can contribute to how much effort and time I put into it. I believe that I
have excelled in English because I have a way with words. I may not be able to express my feelings
and thoughts as well verbally, but writing makes up for it. My style of writing is very candid, and I
strike people with the reality of things. I surprise myself on the subjects I write about that usually
bypass my thoughts. Writing explores and exercises my thoughts which show me what I'm truly

West Broadway, Or `` D Street ``
West Broadway, or "D Street", is a state–sponsored housing development in South Boston,
Massachusetts, whose history is plagued by delinquency, violence, and death. Constructed in 1949,
on a newly acquired 25–acre plot in Southie's "Lower End", West Broadway Housing Development
was to serve as temporary housing for veterans of the World Wars. By the early 1970s, however, the
development would be 972 apartments for low–income families, and would be known as the "worst
type of lower–class welfare housing." Built on South Boston's solid, naturally formed land, as
opposed to the neighborhood's man made areas, coupled with its proximity to the downtown district,
D Street is home to prime location in the community and the City of Boston. ... Show more content

As Michael Patrick McDonald contends, South Bostonians think of Southie as the "best place in the
world", and there is a silence that consumes the residents when it comes to discussing the woes of
the past. And in such a physically and culturally secluded area of the City of Boston, it is unlikely
that anything the citizens are not willing to discuss would be otherwise recorded. In speaking of lost
history, it is important to question the history far beyond the past 60 years. It is widely known that
Native Americans inhabited the Boston dating back 6,000 years. Nonetheless, many of their artifacts
have been lost over the years. However, over the past two years, Native American artifacts have
been discovered in the Andrew Square section of South Boston, not far from D Street. While it is
likely that most artifacts are lost forever because of the disregard for the area during development in
the 1950s, further exploration may be able to call attention to a distant history. Andrew Square too
went through radical development throughout the 20th century with no mention of Native American
presence, and I have not personally come across any literature concerning Indian history in relation
to South Boston or immediate areas, such as the Polish

Stteric Acid Purcules In A Monolayer
Purpose In this experiment, the different lengths of a steric acid molecules in a monolayer were
measured to determine Avogadro's number. The number of drops of stearic acid were calculated to
see how much it will take to make a monolayer on the surface of water on the dish. (Goldwhite and
Tikkanen)
Theory
The stearic acid is obtained from animal fats. The molecular formula is C17H35COOH and its
composed of a hydrophilic acid group, COOH, and a hydrocarbon chain C17H35. The long
hydrocarbon chain is like lubrication oil, because it does not have any affinity for water. In other
words, when the stearic acid becomes in contact with water it doesn't mix in water. The hydrophobic
chain floats upwards in a vertical position in the solution. (ChemSkills) When the stearic acid was
dropped to the water it spreads across the surface until it creates a monolayer, a one molecule thick
layer. The volume of stearic acid was calculated by determining the number of drops used to create
the monolayer on the dish by using the following equation:
V=(number of drops in monolayer ×(1 mL)/(drops per mL)×(concentration of stearic acid)/(1
mL))/(density of stearic acid)
We calculated the surface area of the dish to determine the length of one molecule by using the
following equations:
〖Surface Area〗_dish=π(d/2)^2
Length_(stearic acid)=V_monolayer/〖Surface Area〗_dish
The hydrocarbon chain is the part of the stearic acid molecules to form the monolayer of thickness

America 's Trade Area Of The Americas
History
Latin America is composed of seventeen countries which was colonized by Spain's and Portugal.
They are large in diverse population with four hundred and ninety million people in total. The
percentage of the Indian and African that lives in Latin America is basically seventy–five percent
just in the cities. The industrial and development grew since the 1960's; also the free Trade Area of
the Americas (FTAA) proposes to integrate economies of Latin America, North America and the
Caribbean (except Cuba). Prisons for quite a long time have been a gateway to try to save society.
However, the only thing that it's doing is hurting the social order. This happens because it creates
more problems that are not being treated from the beginning. Crime has become a big problem
during these hard times with the poor economy, but it has especially affected Latin America very
deeply because of all the problems that overcrowded prisons have brought forward. In Latin
America Brazil and Mexico are the two largest and strongest countries that have been affected with
having the highest percentage of crimes, inmates in prisons, and concerns with overcrowded prisons.
And these increase with the high crime rates in Latin America that are rising due to drug trafficking
wars in Brazil and Mexico. Brazil and Argentina are again the two of Latin America's strongest and
largest countries because they make up most of the common market where other nations come to
trade, buy goods and buy cash

Regional Economic Integration : International Trade Area
Regional economic integration has allowed countries to concentrate on issues that pertain to their
respective stages of development, in addition to encouraging trade between neighbors. There are
five main stages of economic integration: Free trade area, customs union, common market,
economic union and political union. Free trade areas exist as the most basic type of economic
cooperation. Here, member countries remove all trade barriers but remain free to determine their
own trade policies with nonmember nations. An example of this is the North American Free Trade
Agreement (NAFTA). Customs unions are similar to free trade zones in that they provide economic
cooperation, along with the elimination of trade barriers among member countries. The primary
difference from the free trade area is that trade with nonmember countries are treated in a similar
fashion as trade with member countries. An example of this is The Gulf Cooperation Council
(GCC). Common markets exist to create economically integrated markets between member
countries. Trade barriers are removed, in addition to any restrictions on the capital and labor
movement between member countries. Similar to customs unions, there is a common trade policy
with nonmember nations. The primary advantage to workers is that a visa or work permit is not
required for employment in another member country of a common market. An example is the
Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). Economic union is created when

Sealcoat Case Study
4 Problems That Can Happen With An Asphalt Sealcoat For A Parking Lot The first impression you
make on your customers is when they pull up to your business and park in your parking lot. You
want to make sure that the parking lot appears to be well maintained, and one way you can do that is
by applying a sealcoat to the asphalt. The thin layer of sealant is designed to protect the asphalt and
extend its life, but it does not come without its own set of problems. An asphalt sealcoat can have
any of these 4 problems that you will need to address. Tiny Cracks and Spider Lines A sign that your
asphalt sealcoat is wearing thin is when you start noticing small hairline cracks on the surface. This
happens naturally over time due to the asphalt sealant breaking down. You may notice it more in the
actual parking spots, because leaking fluids from cars can speed up the deterioration ... Show more

Apply a new sealant at the early stages of cracking. Chipping It is common to see chipping if you
are located in a dry climate, and it will be more noticeable around edges of the parking lot that are
prone to becoming damaged. A little bit of chipping is normal, but major chipping is a red flag that
you need to reseal your parking lot. Chipping can occur due to the original sealant being installed
improperly, usually because the sealant did not have a high amount of adhesive content to perform
an optimal seal. This can easily happen if you try doing the job yourself and make a mistake in the
application process. Sticky Surfaces Since asphalt sealers use tar, you may notice that surface of
your parking lot is sticky when the temperature outside is very hot. You should be concerned if you
have a long length of extremely high temperatures, because the sealcoat can breakdown faster than
normal. It may require resealing earlier than you intended.

Advantages And Cons Of AFTA Or Asean Free Trade Area
In ASEAN we used AFTA or Asean Free Trade Area. It is a trade bloc agreement by Association of
Southeast Asia Nation. Under AFTA, there are six countries of Association of Southeast Asian
Nation (ASEAN) including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Brunei, and Thailand are
no tariffs on approximately 8,000 product. Another four developed ASEAN nations will have further
period to phase in tariff cuts. In Asean we trade everything not only goods and services, but the
citizen also can go around these countries without visa and people can find job more easily. Because
when the country had opened for all members in ASEAN people can work in the proper ways not
work illegal in other ASEAN countries.
As a free trade area, members of ASEAN countries expect it to be more comfortable in the flow of
goods and services between ASEAN countries. Thailand had significant benefits from AFTA,
because in Thailand there are many manufacturing, and it is benefit from reduced the production.
However, the reduced tariffs have negatively impacted Thailand's agricultural sector due to a greater
number of imported agricultural goods. Before Thailand was the largest exporter of agricultural

Socially, proposal two would be beneficial, as it would allow for the development of higher–quality
architectural styles of new apartments and potentially new shops with 'modern looks', which would
be attractive for some people. In addition, it would allow for an increase in other new developments
to facilitate for the increased amount of residents and therefore new recreational areas and shops for
clothing, food and eating out would be established to account for the new populations able to live in
Nundah as a result of the residential developments. The residential developments would
accommodate for the growing population that increases by 3% per year. However, negatively
proposal two is not beneficial, as the development only accounts for a wealthy businessperson
demographic therefore limiting the diversity of people living in the area. The increased amount of
residents in Nundah would increase traffic and congestion as a result of not having anywhere to
park. Nundah would become overcrowded as a result and the cultural heritage of Nundah's previous
typical Queenslander type homes would be knocked down to make space for future development
sites. In addition, the elderly populations living in Nundah may not approve of the rapid increases in
populations and do not have the option or ability to live in unit style homes and will therefore be
forced out of the area. Economically allowing high–rise development is beneficial as it boosts the
local economy, as new businesses would be established and surrounding already established
businesses would gain more foot traffic due to increased population densities, which would
therefore increase the amount of profit being made. In addition, more employment opportunities
would become available, as new businesses would open. The price of properties will rise as a result

The Free Trade Area Of The Americas
The Free Trade Area of the Americas
Introduction
The Free Trade Area of the Americas agreement (FTAA), was first introduced in 1994 with
intentions of finalizing the deal by 2005. However, the agreement failed to pass due to the backlash
of some of the Latin American countries involved, especially Venezuela and its President of the
time, Hugo Chavez, who held a strong vocal opposition of the free trade agreement (The Defeat of
the FTAA). In this paper I will discuss the history of the FTAA, about how it started, why it did not
happen, and if it will be possible in the future. I will give my opinion on whether the FTAA will ever
come back and if the current free trade deals will help or hurt a possible resurgence of the FTAA.

2010 with the aim of gradually eradicating barriers to trade and investment in the region. The final
characteristics of the FTAA will be determined through negotiations by government officials from
the thirty–four participating countries. The trade issues that are presently under discussion are:
market access; investment; services; government procurement; dispute settlement; agriculture;
intellectual property; antidumping, subsidies and countervailing duties; and competition policy.
Guiding principles for these negotiations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The objectives and principles also mandate special consideration be given to the smaller, less
developed countries of the hemisphere. These provisions reflect both the unique challenges facing
the smaller, poorer countries and their influence in a process in which each country, regardless of
size, in effect has veto power.
With the FTAA negotiations still at an early stage, it would be useful to remember that the important
decisions in multilateral trade talks usually do not get made until the very end, frequently when it
appears as though the talks will fail to produce a significant agreement. This pattern is built into the
FTAA process as the negotiations are conducted as a single undertaking, and there is no agreement
until everything is decided.
The biggest slow down of the negotiations was the continued failure of the U.S. Congress to renew
the President Clinton's fast–track authority, his ability to negotiate trade agreements and submit
them to up–or–down votes. The 1994 Miami Summit ended with assurances from President Clinton
that he would secure fast–track authority and use it to gain Chile's admission to NAFTA. Without it,
not only has Chile's admission to NAFTA fallen by the wayside, but there are growing questions
about U.S. approval of the final FTAA agreement. Doubts concerning Washington's resolve and
leadership have clouded the negotiations and provided an opening for countries not enthusiastic

Atrium Fire Rate
Yi, Huo, Li and Feng & Chow [13] study the relationship between the time when flooding flow of
smoke occurs and the aspect ratio of atrium under different heat release rate (HRR) of fire,32
simulations were carried out using a "field" model, FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator, Version 3). The
size of the atrium and HRR of steady fire are listed in Table (2–4). In all the simulations, the size of
the fire room was set at 3 m × 3 m × 3 m, the fire was located at the center of the floor of the fire
room, the height of atrium was 27 m. The vents in the fire floor were both 2 m × 1.5 m with sill at 1
m above the floor. The ambient temperature is 20 oC.
Fig. (2–8) shows the situation of early stage when a fire occurs in an adjacent floor to an atrium. The
fire floor has two vertical vents (WA and WB) open to outside and the atrium respectively. The
ceiling of the atrium is open, and it is supposed that the isolation between the atrium and the other
floors is ideal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The velocity profile at the vents is simply shown in Fig. 1. At the top of the vents, because the
smoke in the fire floor is lighter than the air in the atrium and outside, pressure difference between
the fire floor and outside (atrium as the same) is larger than at the lower place of the vents. At the
bottom of the vents, the pressure difference gets negative to that at the top. So there should be a
zero–pressure–difference or zero–velocity plane α and β at the two vents

Fitness Plus
Students should begin by analyzing the capacity of the facility; however, the analysis is not as
straightforward as it first may seem. There is an issue of how capacity should be measured. Students
should quickly recognize that an overall measure of capacity for the facility isn't much help in
determining if Fitness Plus is capacity constrained. If the service delivery process for each member
were homogeneous, such as a cafeteria or airline flight, then an overall measure of capacity, such as
the number of members serviced over a given period of time, would be an appropriate measure of
capacity. However, the service delivery process at Fitness Plus is a menu–driven process where each
member chooses from a range of services the club ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With these issues in mind, the students can develop capacity estimates similar to the following:
1. Aerobics
* Assumption: Aerobics classes begin on the hour and last for 50 minutes.
* Capacity: 1 class per hour for 35 members
2. Cardiovascular
* Assumption: During peak demand times, each piece of equipment is limited to 30 minutes per
member.
* Capacity: With 29 pieces of C–V equipment, 58 members per hour peak capacity
3. Nautilus
* Assumptions: Each member takes 1 minute to complete each exercise. The machines are set up so
members flow through in a sequential manner.
* Capacity: Maximum capacity at a steady state; cycle time 1 minute. 60 members per hour
Over the three–hour peak demand period, the Nautilus area may only process 156 members because
it will take 24 minutes for the first member to complete the entire 24–machine cycle.
These three areas of the club are the major areas of concern due to customer complaints, and they
are where students should concentrate their analysis. The tennis and racquetball areas can service the
following number of members per hour:
Tennis: 12 members/hour for singles 24 members/hour for doubles
Racquetball: 16 members/hour for singles 32 members/hour for doubles
There were no details given in the case to determine the capacity of the free–weight area. So, if we
aggregate the individual capacities into an overall measure, the club can accommodate a peak
capacity of 181 to 209

The dots indicate the locations of demographic samples. Red colored dots fall within the 5–mile
radius. Note that samples located across the river would be included in the 5–mile demographic

trade area based on its attractiveness relative to other trade areas. These models provide an
approximation of store trade area by putting the distribution of all locations (including competitors)
into a geographical context and evaluating each location's relative attractiveness. Typically, a
distance decay curve is used to model the spatial interaction of individual locations. Often size of
the store, or store sales if available, is used to drive the attractiveness parameter. Gravity models are
more sophisticated than simple radial approximations, but they still do not account for logistical
barriers and they are limited by the availability and accuracy of competitor data. Moreover, gravity
models basically are sophisticated algorithms, which may not be appropriate for non–technical
analysts. Figure 2a. Gravity based patronage probability model showing the theoretical store trade

Verdica Essay
The Great Stupa at Sanchi was originally built with large bricks, but underwent an expansion, which
brought it to its current state. It is a hemispherical mound of rubble and earth covered with
sandstones. The Great Stupa stands at about fifty–four feet high and has a diameter of 120 feet. On
top of the stupa is a flat area that holds a chatra, similar to a three–tiered umbrella, surrounded by a
harmica, or square railing. One third of the way up the hemispherical mound there is a terrace
enclosed with a fence that was used for rituals. Underneath the upper terrace there is a path on the
ground enclosed by a verdica, or a fence. There are two paths because the upper terrace is used by
high priests during rituals, while the lower path is used by pilgrims. The verdica that surrounds the
lower path, determines the path for circumambulation during rituals, and encloses the stupa. It is
built in stone but uses construction methods of wooden fences. The verdica uses this wooden
method by having vertical octagonal posts and round rails connecting the posts. The verdica was left
plain without any carvings. Within the verdica there are four toranas that correspond to the cardinal
directions. The toranas are entrance gates into the circulation path from outside of ... Show more

The Creation Of A Utopian Civilization Essay
In an imperfect world such as ours, the idea of a utopia capable of satisfying all needs and desires
has been attempted to be made reality time and time again. However, few have succeeded because it
is difficult––if not impossible––to accommodate a large population of people with varying interests.
The key to maintaining a utopian civilization is ensuring that all basic needs are met in order to
avoid the overthrow of the established government regulation activity. The creation of 'Bentopia' is
centered around the goal to make the most efficient society possible while still allowing citizens the
freedom to choose. As the architectural committee, we strived to develop both public and personal
spaces that optimize the use of space in a non–wasteful manner, while also keeping in mind the
climate, geographical location of our city, and environmental impact our structures have. The way
we have organized houses, shopping malls, governmental and corporate buildings within our utopia
is meant to maximize resources we have on hand through the division of the city into three districts.
The most important considerations when creating a layout fit for a utopia fifty years into the future
is offering a comfortable, sustainable lifestyle while still retaining core values of free will and
equality. The practical distribution of material goods should not jeopardize basic rights that are
standard within an ideal society. When first approaching the dilemma on how to allot land, the urban

Pilgrim Case Essay
TO: Professor Simon FROM: DATE: May 19th, 2014 OBJECT: Equity Contribution for Pilgrim
Assurance Building On behalf of David Bailey, there have been individuals looking into the
property located at 795 Atlantic Avenue. As an investor, Bailey is interested in making an offer on
the property however he is trying to make his offer look more attractive than the competitors. With
thorough research, he has found ways that would improve the building and in turn generate a larger
yearly cash flow while still being able to improve the building. Bailey was also considering
converting the current office space building into condominium units but that was strictly dependent
on the revenue that could be generated from doing so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
III. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS If Bailey were to outbid the competitors and successfully purchase the
building there are a variety of options that Bailey could engage in in order to improve the building.
The first option would be to keep Pilgrim as a tenant in the building. By doing this he would secure
100,000 square feet of space at $26 /sq. ft generating about $2,600,000 in rental income just from
Pilgrim. Also with keeping the space as office space, Bailey found that he would be able to fill in
two out of the four floors of the atrium adding an additional 10,000 in rentable square footage. This
was something that none of the other competitors had noticed. Bailey also noticed that he would be
able to renovate all 20 bathrooms within the building but that his renovation would be about 15,000
cheaper than his competitors. Continuing with the renovations, Bailey saw that the atrium would
need to be upgraded and instead of it costing him around $200,000, which would be the cost to his
competitors, he had the ability to save $50,000 by reusing the marble in the bathrooms as the floor
and walls of the atrium. Taking into consideration all of the upgrades and renovations, as well as the
fact that Bailey would be able to manage the building at 0.50/ sq ft compared to his competitors
which were managing at $1.25/ sq ft, the value at which Bailey would place on keeping the building
an office space would be $3,433,649.13 (see

Differences Between Mass And Projected Area And Mass Of...
The last nine experiments listed in Table 1 have reported the projected area and mass of the
firebrands. Fig. 3 depicts the PDF and contour plots for OWB7. Figs. 3a and b, represent the PDF
for the firebrands at 4 meter and 18 meters from the fire front respectively. Considering Fig. 3c, we
can realize that the correlation between mass and projected area of firebrand is stronger than
projected area and the traveling distance of the brands. This fact is more obvious at closer distances.
Moreover, the analysis of results of this experiment shows that larger brands can fly further away
from the fire which sometimes is not in agreement with other experiments. The available data at 4
meter and 18 meter from the fire has been compared in Fig. 3d. We can observe that heavier brands
could travel further with the wind. In addition, it is understandable that the mean and standard
deviation values for mass and area of the firebrands at further distances are larger which means that
we have more variety of sizes there.
The PDF and contour plots for IWB1 are plotted in Fig. 4 and Fig.4a shows the PDF for both dry
and wet trays. Since we did not have access to individual brand information, using the presented
table in their paper, Table 7 here, we assume the average value of area for each category and for
S>4, we assumed the brand area is 5 cm2. The number of the brands in the wet tray is greater than
that of the dry tray since many brands have blown away from the dry tray and burned out

Tennis Balloon Research Paper
Currently, all tennis balls are packaged in cylinders which hold four balls. Although this is an
innovative idea, there is a lot of wasted space in the cylinders and in the square box that it is
packaged in. In this investigation, another idea for a container will be shown with a list of
advantages and disadvantages. The aim is to create a new container for tennis balls that has a
comparable surface area and wasted space to that of the cylinder containers currently used. Another
container that could be used instead of a cylinder is a rectangular prism as shown below. This
investigation will use measurement to calculate the surface area and volume of 3D objects,

This assumption was proven to be incorrect as the wasted space was calculated to be much over
4000cm3. Another assumption made was that the square box with rectangular prisms inside would
have a considerably smaller amount of wasted space compared to the cylinder, but a small amount
of wasted space would exist. As shown in the previous working out, there was no wasted space in
the square box with the rectangular prisms. A final assumption made in part A was the dimensions of
the cylindrical container. In part B, it was presumed that the points would be scattered loosely
around the line of best fit. After creating the scatter plot, it was understood that the points were
closely scattered around the line of best fit and a realisation that there could be a formula to
calculate the results quicker was brought into consideration. Also, another assumption was that the
amount of wasted space would not be a significant amount. After calculating, it was notable that the

A Free Market Area Allows The Free Trade
A free market area allows the free trade between members of the partnership. Moreover, within a
free trade area members of the partnership do not impose any subsides, discriminatory tariffs, or
administrative impediments that would prevent the free trade between the members of the
agreement. "Free trade agreements are the most popular form of regional economic integration,
accounting for almost 90 percent of regional agreements" (Hill, 2015 pg. 257).
The purpose of a free trade is to promote the trade of goods between the countries within the
agreement. Member of a free trade area do not have trade tariffs imposed on the goods that are
traded between the countries. Additionally, members of a free trade agreement are able to create a
comparative advantage by being able to produce products more efficiently specializing in
developing the products that they are more effective at producing. By doing so, each country is able
to increase their profitability due to their comparative advantages. "Comparative advantage suggests
that trade is a positive–sum game in which all countries that participate realize economic gains. As
such, this theory provides a strong rationale for encourages free trade" (Hill, 2015 pg. 168).
In order to establish a free trade area, each country must agree on the rules in which each country
must follow while operating in the trade of their products. In addition, each country must agree on
the custom procedures that must be adhered to by each member of the

ANOVA was made with Microsoft Excel® software. Scott–Knott was conducted with Sisvar®
software to compare means (treatments statistically different). Both tests were made with a 95%
confidence limit.
2.5.3 Air permeability
Air permeability of the mortars was evaluated according to Thenoz method (Pereira and Camarini,
2011). Cylindrical specimens (50 mm diameter and 100 mm height) were prepared and cured at
room temperature for 28 days (average temperature of 25 °C ± 2 °C and relative humidity of 60%).
Before testing, the specimens were cut into three parts and the central part (50 mm height) was used
in the test. The slices were oven–dried at 50 °C ± 2 °C for 48 h and after cooling they had their
lateral surfaces sealed to guarantee the flow was uniaxial and perpendicular to the cross–sectional
area. The test was made in a varying charge apparatus. The average values of three specimens of
each mortar composition were reported. Air permeability was calculated by the Equation 1, which is
based on Darcy's law (Camarini et al., 2008).
k = (μ/ρ.g).(s/S).ln(h0/h1).1/t Equation 1

Peter Figueroa's Framework
Sociologist Peter Figueroa created a framework in order to analyse racism within society, and
particularly to determine the equitable and accessibility within a physical activity (Hede, Russell and
Weatherby, 2010). Figueroa's Framework is an exceptionally useful and educational tool that is
utilised in order to understand the socio–cultural factors that impact sports participation as an
individual or in a team. Consisting of a five layer structure, Figueroa's Framework includes the
cultural, structural, institutional, interpersonal and individual levels which all umbrella their own

  • 1. Discuss the Advantages and Disadvantages, to the... With the lowest integrated level in regional economic integration, Free Trade Arrangement (FTA) is applied most frequently, accounting for almost 90% of regional integration. (Hill 2007) Theoretically, all trade barriers both tariffs and non–tariff ones are eliminated in an ideal FTA. However, each member countries are free to determine independent trade policies against nonmember countries. (Hill 2007) Currently, the number of free trade arrangements is proliferating. FTA spread almost all over the world with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are the most famous trade blocs. Additionally, in the Northeast Asia, China, Japan and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most essential disadvantage of FTA is the potential cost from trade diversion. It occurs when low–cost external suppliers are replaced in favor of suppliers in FTA partner countries. (Hill 2007) Such trade actually does negative effect on the economy's overall efficiency. In the traditional trade theories view, costs arise form non–optimal allocation of resources. For importing countries, loss exists partially because government impose tariff and the overall wealth fear would be larger when import goods from external low–cost producers. In addition, when establish a free trade area, certain groups may lose and they are easier to be identified than gainers. (Hill 2007) In the natural course of event, increase in unemployment in some industries is a typical phenomenon. For example, foreign trade in terms of both imports and exports has impacted US employment seriously. Taking Asia–Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) as an example, developing countries in this FTA would access to an open market lagged ten years than their developed partners. • 3. Circle B Bar Reserve Case Study Circle B Bar Reserve was purchased to help maintain the Banana Creek marsh area in the 1900's. The reserve was named after the ranch that they had bought it from. In the 1994, a referendum was passed that allowed the reserve to be funded by a management program. This program is called the Environmental Lands Program, which purpose "is to acquire, preserve, protect, manage, and restore endangered and environmentally sensitive lands, water resources and important wildlife habitat." Over the years, the reserve has restored the ranch to its natural habitat and has protected the land and animals that it is home to. To help improve the county through an economic standpoint, the reserve has restored the marsh which helps flood control. Since Florida ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One day in the fourth grade, my teacher asked the class if they wanted to either go outside or stay working on math problems if we behaved badly. Believe it or not, I chose to stay and work on math problems even though I was always well behaved. This action (even though it was many years ago) reflects who I am today. When given the chance, I dont always go out to hang out with friends and have fun. I mostly stay home trying to get as much homework done as I can. Now homework isn't the only thing I do with my life. The subjects that I excel most in are Mathematics and English. My grades in those classes are always above average. I believe that math come very easy to me, and I grasp an understanding fairly quickly. I am naturally a hard worker, so when I'm working on a math problem I will usually continue working on it until I get the right answer. Math is also something that I enjoy doing, which can contribute to how much effort and time I put into it. I believe that I have excelled in English because I have a way with words. West Broadway, Or `` D Street `` West Broadway, or "D Street", is a state–sponsored housing development in South Boston, Massachusetts, whose history is plagued by delinquency, violence, and death. Constructed in 1949, on a newly acquired 25–acre plot in Southie's "Lower End", West Broadway Housing Development was to serve as temporary housing for veterans of the World Wars. By the early 1970s, however, the development would be 972 apartments for low–income families, and would be known as the "worst type of lower–class welfare housing." Built on South Boston's solid, naturally formed land, as opposed to the neighborhood's man made areas, coupled with its proximity to the downtown district, D Street is home to prime location in the community and the City of Boston. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Michael Patrick McDonald contends, South Bostonians think of Southie as the "best place in the world", and there is a silence that consumes the residents when it comes to discussing the woes of the past. And in such a physically and culturally secluded area of the City of Boston, it is unlikely that anything the citizens are not willing to discuss would be otherwise recorded. In speaking of lost history, it is important to question the history far beyond the past 60 years. It is widely known that Native Americans inhabited the Boston dating back 6,000 years. Nonetheless, many of their artifacts have been lost over the years. However, over the past two years, Native American artifacts have been discovered in the Andrew Square section of South Boston, not far from D Street. While it is likely that most artifacts are lost forever because of the disregard for the area during development in the 1950s, further exploration may be able to call attention to a distant history. Andrew Square too went through radical development throughout the 20th century with no mention of Native American presence, and I have not personally come across any literature concerning Indian history in relation to South Boston or immediate areas, such as the Polish ... • 10. Stteric Acid Purcules In A Monolayer Purpose In this experiment, the different lengths of a steric acid molecules in a monolayer were measured to determine Avogadro's number. The number of drops of stearic acid were calculated to see how much it will take to make a monolayer on the surface of water on the dish. (Goldwhite and Tikkanen) Theory The stearic acid is obtained from animal fats. The molecular formula is C17H35COOH and its composed of a hydrophilic acid group, COOH, and a hydrocarbon chain C17H35. The long hydrocarbon chain is like lubrication oil, because it does not have any affinity for water. In other words, when the stearic acid becomes in contact with water it doesn't mix in water. The hydrophobic chain floats upwards in a vertical position in the solution. (ChemSkills) When the stearic acid was dropped to the water it spreads across the surface until it creates a monolayer, a one molecule thick layer. The volume of stearic acid was calculated by determining the number of drops used to create the monolayer on the dish by using the following equation: V=(number of drops in monolayer ×(1 mL)/(drops per mL)×(concentration of stearic acid)/(1 mL))/(density of stearic acid) We calculated the surface area of the dish to determine the length of one molecule by using the following equations: 〖Surface Area〗_dish=π(d/2)^2 Length_(stearic acid)=V_monolayer/〖Surface Area〗_dish The hydrocarbon chain is the part of the stearic acid molecules to form the monolayer of thickness L. They are large in diverse population with four hundred and ninety million people in total. The percentage of the Indian and African that lives in Latin America is basically seventy–five percent just in the cities. The industrial and development grew since the 1960's; also the free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) proposes to integrate economies of Latin America, North America and the Caribbean (except Cuba). Prisons for quite a long time have been a gateway to try to save society. However, the only thing that it's doing is hurting the social order. This happens because it creates more problems that are not being treated from the beginning. Crime has become a big problem during these hard times with the poor economy, but it has especially affected Latin America very deeply because of all the problems that overcrowded prisons have brought forward. In Latin America Brazil and Mexico are the two largest and strongest countries that have been affected with having the highest percentage of crimes, inmates in prisons, and concerns with overcrowded prisons. And these increase with the high crime rates in Latin America that are rising due to drug trafficking wars in Brazil and Mexico. • 14. Regional Economic Integration : International Trade Area Regional economic integration has allowed countries to concentrate on issues that pertain to their respective stages of development, in addition to encouraging trade between neighbors. There are five main stages of economic integration: Free trade area, customs union, common market, economic union and political union. Free trade areas exist as the most basic type of economic cooperation. Here, member countries remove all trade barriers but remain free to determine their own trade policies with nonmember nations. An example of this is the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Customs unions are similar to free trade zones in that they provide economic cooperation, along with the elimination of trade barriers among member countries. The primary difference from the free trade area is that trade with nonmember countries are treated in a similar fashion as trade with member countries. An example of this is The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Common markets exist to create economically integrated markets between member countries. Trade barriers are removed, in addition to any restrictions on the capital and labor movement between member countries. Similar to customs unions, there is a common trade policy with nonmember nations. The primary advantage to workers is that a visa or work permit is not required for employment in another member country of a common market. An example is the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). Economic union is created when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sealcoat Case Study 4 Problems That Can Happen With An Asphalt Sealcoat For A Parking Lot The first impression you make on your customers is when they pull up to your business and park in your parking lot. You want to make sure that the parking lot appears to be well maintained, and one way you can do that is by applying a sealcoat to the asphalt. The thin layer of sealant is designed to protect the asphalt and extend its life, but it does not come without its own set of problems. An asphalt sealcoat can have any of these 4 problems that you will need to address. Tiny Cracks and Spider Lines A sign that your asphalt sealcoat is wearing thin is when you start noticing small hairline cracks on the surface. This happens naturally over time due to the asphalt sealant breaking down. You may notice it more in the actual parking spots, because leaking fluids from cars can speed up the deterioration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apply a new sealant at the early stages of cracking. Chipping It is common to see chipping if you are located in a dry climate, and it will be more noticeable around edges of the parking lot that are prone to becoming damaged. A little bit of chipping is normal, but major chipping is a red flag that you need to reseal your parking lot. Chipping can occur due to the original sealant being installed improperly, usually because the sealant did not have a high amount of adhesive content to perform an optimal seal. This can easily happen if you try doing the job yourself and make a mistake in the application process. Sticky Surfaces Since asphalt sealers use tar, you may notice that surface of your parking lot is sticky when the temperature outside is very hot. You should be concerned if you have a long length of extremely high temperatures, because the sealcoat can breakdown faster than normal. It may require resealing earlier than you intended. ... However, the agreement failed to pass due to the backlash of some of the Latin American countries involved, especially Venezuela and its President of the time, Hugo Chavez, who held a strong vocal opposition of the free trade agreement (The Defeat of the FTAA). In this paper I will discuss the history of the FTAA, about how it started, why it did not happen, and if it will be possible in the future. The FTAA will be established by 2010 with the aim of gradually eradicating barriers to trade and investment in the region. The final characteristics of the FTAA will be determined through negotiations by government officials from the thirty–four participating countries. With the FTAA negotiations still at an early stage, it would be useful to remember that the important decisions in multilateral trade talks usually do not get made until the very end, frequently when it appears as though the talks will fail to produce a significant agreement. This pattern is built into the FTAA process as the negotiations are conducted as a single undertaking, and there is no agreement until everything is decided. The biggest slow down of the negotiations was the continued failure of the U.S. Congress to renew the President Clinton's fast–track authority, his ability to negotiate trade agreements and submit them to up–or–down votes. The 1994 Miami Summit ended with assurances from President Clinton that he would secure fast–track authority and use it to gain Chile's admission to NAFTA. Gravity Models: Gravity models, or spatial interaction models, define a trade area based on its attractiveness relative to other trade areas. These models provide an approximation of store trade area by putting the distribution of all locations (including competitors) into a geographical context and evaluating each location's relative attractiveness. Typically, a distance decay curve is used to model the spatial interaction of individual locations. Often size of the store, or store sales if available, is used to drive the attractiveness parameter. Gravity models are more sophisticated than simple radial approximations, but they still do not account for logistical barriers and they are limited by the availability and accuracy of competitor data. Moreover, gravity models basically are sophisticated algorithms, which may not be appropriate for non–technical analysts. Figure 2a. • 47. Verdica Essay The Great Stupa at Sanchi was originally built with large bricks, but underwent an expansion, which brought it to its current state. It is a hemispherical mound of rubble and earth covered with sandstones. The Great Stupa stands at about fifty–four feet high and has a diameter of 120 feet. On top of the stupa is a flat area that holds a chatra, similar to a three–tiered umbrella, surrounded by a harmica, or square railing. One third of the way up the hemispherical mound there is a terrace enclosed with a fence that was used for rituals. Underneath the upper terrace there is a path on the ground enclosed by a verdica, or a fence. There are two paths because the upper terrace is used by high priests during rituals, while the lower path is used by pilgrims. The verdica that surrounds the lower path, determines the path for circumambulation during rituals, and encloses the stupa. It is built in stone but uses construction methods of wooden fences. The verdica uses this wooden method by having vertical octagonal posts and round rails connecting the posts. The verdica was left plain without any carvings. Within the verdica there are four toranas that correspond to the cardinal directions. The toranas are entrance gates into the circulation path from outside of ... • 49. The Creation Of A Utopian Civilization Essay In an imperfect world such as ours, the idea of a utopia capable of satisfying all needs and desires has been attempted to be made reality time and time again. However, few have succeeded because it is difficult––if not impossible––to accommodate a large population of people with varying interests. The key to maintaining a utopian civilization is ensuring that all basic needs are met in order to avoid the overthrow of the established government regulation activity. The creation of 'Bentopia' is centered around the goal to make the most efficient society possible while still allowing citizens the freedom to choose. As the architectural committee, we strived to develop both public and personal spaces that optimize the use of space in a non–wasteful manner, while also keeping in mind the climate, geographical location of our city, and environmental impact our structures have. The way we have organized houses, shopping malls, governmental and corporate buildings within our utopia is meant to maximize resources we have on hand through the division of the city into three districts. The most important considerations when creating a layout fit for a utopia fifty years into the future is offering a comfortable, sustainable lifestyle while still retaining core values of free will and equality. The practical distribution of material goods should not jeopardize basic rights that are standard within an ideal society. When first approaching the dilemma on how to allot land, the urban ... Pilgrim Case Essay TO: Professor Simon FROM: DATE: May 19th, 2014 OBJECT: Equity Contribution for Pilgrim Assurance Building On behalf of David Bailey, there have been individuals looking into the property located at 795 Atlantic Avenue. As an investor, Bailey is interested in making an offer on the property however he is trying to make his offer look more attractive than the competitors. With thorough research, he has found ways that would improve the building and in turn generate a larger yearly cash flow while still being able to improve the building. Bailey was also considering converting the current office space building into condominium units but that was strictly dependent on the revenue that could be generated from doing so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... III. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS If Bailey were to outbid the competitors and successfully purchase the building there are a variety of options that Bailey could engage in in order to improve the building. The first option would be to keep Pilgrim as a tenant in the building. By doing this he would secure 100,000 square feet of space at $26 /sq. ft generating about $2,600,000 in rental income just from Pilgrim. Also with keeping the space as office space, Bailey found that he would be able to fill in two out of the four floors of the atrium adding an additional 10,000 in rentable square footage. This was something that none of the other competitors had noticed. Bailey also noticed that he would be able to renovate all 20 bathrooms within the building but that his renovation would be about 15,000 cheaper than his competitors. Continuing with the renovations, Bailey saw that the atrium would need to be upgraded and instead of it costing him around $200,000, which would be the cost to his competitors, he had the ability to save $50,000 by reusing the marble in the bathrooms as the floor and walls of the atrium. Taking into consideration all of the upgrades and renovations, as well as the fact that Bailey would be able to manage the building at 0.50/ sq ft compared to his competitors which were managing at $1.25/ sq ft, the value at which Bailey would place on keeping the building an office space would be $3,433,649.13 (see ... Fig. 3 depicts the PDF and contour plots for OWB7. Figs. 3a and b, represent the PDF for the firebrands at 4 meter and 18 meters from the fire front respectively. Considering Fig. 3c, we can realize that the correlation between mass and projected area of firebrand is stronger than projected area and the traveling distance of the brands. This fact is more obvious at closer distances. Moreover, the analysis of results of this experiment shows that larger brands can fly further away from the fire which sometimes is not in agreement with other experiments. The available data at 4 meter and 18 meter from the fire has been compared in Fig. 3d. We can observe that heavier brands could travel further with the wind. In addition, it is understandable that the mean and standard deviation values for mass and area of the firebrands at further distances are larger which means that we have more variety of sizes there. The PDF and contour plots for IWB1 are plotted in Fig. 4 and Fig.4a shows the PDF for both dry and wet trays. Since we did not have access to individual brand information, using the presented table in their paper, Table 7 here, we assume the average value of area for each category and for S>4, we assumed the brand area is 5 cm2. The number of the brands in the wet tray is greater than that of the dry tray since many brands have blown away from the dry tray and burned out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The aim is to create a new container for tennis balls that has a comparable surface area and wasted space to that of the cylinder containers currently used. As shown in the previous working out, there was no wasted space in the square box with the rectangular prisms. A final assumption made in part A was the dimensions of the cylindrical container. In part B, it was presumed that the points would be scattered loosely around the line of best fit. After creating the scatter plot, it was understood that the points were closely scattered around the line of best fit and a realisation that there could be a formula to calculate the results quicker was brought into consideration. Moreover, within a free trade area members of the partnership do not impose any subsides, discriminatory tariffs, or administrative impediments that would prevent the free trade between the members of the agreement. "Free trade agreements are the most popular form of regional economic integration, accounting for almost 90 percent of regional agreements" (Hill, 2015 pg. 257). The purpose of a free trade is to promote the trade of goods between the countries within the agreement. Member of a free trade area do not have trade tariffs imposed on the goods that are traded between the countries.
