financial troubles, and would not be back until June 20th, and offered to meet with her then. Facing an
impending moving date of June 10th, Beatrix stated that she could not wait that long, and needed the
sword sooner in order to give it to her daughter before they left for Florida. Subsequently, she
proffered to buy the sword using PayPal as a means of transferring the funds, and using a private
courier to pick up the blade in New York and then deliver it to her in Arkansas, costing her an
additional $1,000. She requested an address and a date that would work for Budd to which he replied
with the appropriate address and a date of May 29th. On May 28th, Beatrix forwarded the $50,000 to

The Income Tax Credit ( Eitc ) Is A Better Policy For...

Econ 206
Dr. Schneider
March.24th, 2015
Policy brief 1
Personally, I believe that an increase in the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a better policy for
lifting households out of poverty than an increase in the current minimum wage.
The EITC, Earned Income Tax Credit, is a benefit for working people who have low to moderate
income. A tax credit means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of taxes you owe and
may also give you a refund ( EITC, Earned Income Tax Credit, Questions and Answers. ). In other
words, the purpose of the EITC is to lift households which are low income out of poverty, especially
for those families with children. The EITC is a combination of both reducing income tax and
subsidizing salaries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will support my opinion through the aspects of increasing households income, changes in the labor
market, and influences of the poverty rate.
Earned Income and adjusted gross income (AGI) must each be less than: Married filing jointly income
less than: Maximum credit
Households with no qualifying children $14,820 $20,330 $503
Households with one qualifying children $39,131 $44,651 $3,359
Households with two qualifying children $44,454 $49,974 $5,548
Households with three or more qualifying children $47,747 $53,267 $6,242
Investment income must be $3,400 or less for the year.
Figure 1: 2015 EITC Income Limits, Maximum Credit Amounts and Tax Law Updates
First of all, I want to address the increase in household income by comparing the increase in EITC
with the increase in minimum wage. Athreya, Reilly, and Simpson (2010) divided the EITC into three
phases: phase in, which is the period that the more workers earned, the more credit they receive;
plateau, which is the period that workers can only receive credits up to the maximum and phase out,
which is the period in which workers will stop receiving the credits. Therefore, the labor supply curve
will be viewed as:
Figure 2 Panel A
Figure 2 Panel B
From Figure 2 Panel A, I realized that for the same household, without the EITC, when wages
increase, the equilibrium points on the labor leisure model will shift to the right. This means that the
quantity of leisure

Psychoanalytic Theory Of Human Development
Psychoanalytic Theory
Psychoanalytic Theory is a theory of human development that holds that irrational, unconscious drives
and motives, often originating in childhood, underlie human behavior. It is thought to influence every
aspect of thinking and behavior, from the smallest details of life to the crucial choices of a lifetime.
Sigmund Freud is an Austrian physician who believed the stages of human development were
characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body.
Oral Stage (Birth to 1 year) In infancy, everything the child gets a hold of goes to their mouth. The
lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. They love to suck on
their fingers or pacifier majority of the time, even in their sleep.
Anal Stage (1 3 years)
The anal is the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. During this time children are
beginning toilet training. They are now able to interpret when they need to use the restroom and able
to communicate to the parents when they need to go.
Phallic Stage (3 6 years)
During this stage, the penis is the most important body part, and pleasure is derived from genital
stimulation. This is the time when they begin to discover their genitals, girls may ask questions while
on the other hand, boys may feel a sense of pride.
Latency (6 11 years)
During this age of development sexual needs quieten down and children begin to focus on social
activities with friends.

Core Econ Textbook
The Core Econ textbook provides a very clear overview of the microeconomics concepts. Some ideas
that were introduced by the textbook are very interesting and somewhat relevant to real world, but do
not completely explain real life phenomenons. On the other hand, it also introduced many ideas that
allowed me to perceive certain topics in a different light. One very interesting idea that the textbook
brought up is the idea of altruism . The textbook treated this idea as purely a social preference. The
book defined it as: someone is willing to bear a cost to benefit somebody else. Though I agree that this
is true in many cases, there are also many cases in which some people are willing to bear a cost
because there are negative externalities, which is something that was not talked about in Chapter 4.
For example, nations join together to reach agreement on reducing ... Show more content on

The chapter on inequality discussed some important ideas that were not frequently talked about in the
classroom. When Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz came to Stuy to talk about economics a few terms ago,
he brought up inequalities in different countries. He mainly focused on how to eliminate income gap
in different countries, and, in the data he showed, many Northern European countries were extremely
effective in keeping the income gap low. After reading the textbook, I realized something that was not
mentioned in his lecture, which was the effect of income gap on GDP. As the book stated, income gap
motivates people to work harder in order for them to ascend through social classes. I think this
partially explains why though those Northern European countries are able to reduce income gap, their
ranking in worldwide annual GDP ranks are usually not extremely high. Because those societies are
fairly equal and social benefits are great and readily available to most people, residents in those
countries become less motivated to work extremely

One must also remember the many acts that were set up to require companies to let the Secretary of
Treasury know their financial condition, such as The Budget and Accounting Procedures Act of 1950.
The Chief Financial Officers Act of 1990 made companies prepare annual audited financial statements
for certain funds (The Chief Financial Officers Council and The Council of the Inspectors General on

It is pretty simple why companies do choose to go public. Companies go public usually to have access
to more money (Martin, 2017). Companies have two ways they can increase funding. They can sell
bonds or sell shares. Although when it comes to selling bonds a company has to remember that they
still have to pay interest on the money they have borrowed and pay it all back (Martin, 2017). This is
why the majority of companies chose to raise the money by selling shares instead. Companies want
more money for new investments, new innovations, and to be able to build up their savings too. Plus,
companies need more money for when they start new projects. When a company goes public it is not
always positive. One disadvantage of going public is the owner or owners of a company cannot
manage the company like it is his or her private company anymore. The business must make sure and
acknowledge that they are responsible to shareholders and will need to make sure that they have
quarterly calls and explain their business actions and why they made the choices they did. A company
making this transition and going through this process can longer just do what they want and get away
with it. They have to take the responsibility and remember to respect shareholders in order to have a
successful company and continue to grow. Another disadvantage carrying from the last issue is that all

Rebirth Is A Sci Fi Thriller
REBIRTH is a sci fi thriller that offers a visionary and cautionary new world. The script nicely poses
the question about the advancement of technology and medicine. The hero questions the morality of
living life with out defects or the need to procreate. It s a compelling question to examine.
The idea of searching for a new planet has merit. The idea of finding an abandoned spacecraft and
trying to put the pieces together of what happened to the ship also is engaging. There s a ticking clock
tension to get home or to get to the new planet.
The script is driven by the theme of second chances. It also examines the man vs. machine premise.
Ironically, due to social engineering, the humans have become more robot like, suppressing their
emotions, while the android featured in the script, is almost more human than the real humans. It s a
clever contradiction.
While the script has definite strengths, the overall script would benefit from more development to
build upon those strengths.
One area that would benefit from more development is the structure and pace. It s crucial to
immediately engage and grab the audience, especially in the first ten pages. The current first ten pages
of the script feels slow. It introduces the characters, but nothing exciting happens to immediately draw
the audience into the plot. It s not until around pages 16 or 17 that they find the planet and this perks
our interest.
The fire is the major inciting event that traps the crew in a strong dilemma.

Centervale Police Patrol
All police departments grapple with the challenge of allocating their limited resources to meet to meet
law enforcement needs of the communities they serve. Crucial to alleviating the cost pressures the
departments face is patrol force allocation. Most of the budgets go to salaries and expenses, such as
fringe benefits, which mean that increases in personnel utilization efficiencies would result in dollar
savings. As such, it is the duty of police chiefs to determine what the patrols will look like regarding
when and where the patrols will take place. This paper, thus, seeks to outline how the Centervale
Police Department should allocate patrol resources to best serve the needs of Centervale.
Patrols are meant to eliminate criminal opportunities by creating an impression of presence in the
community. However, patrols do not decrease an individual s desire to break the law but by
diminishing the opportunities to commit crime, they promote a sense of safety to residents. As the
assistant chief in the Centervale Police Department, CPD, one would develop a strategy that caters for
both sides of the railroad tracks with fairness although with an emphasis on the crime prone north.

Random preventive patrol strategies aim to increase visibility in the community to deter crime and
reduce the general public s fear of crime. However, this method of patrols is ineffective at
apprehending offenders. Directed patrols in Centervale would use hot spot policing approach by
increasing the presence of uniforms in the northern side of the railroad tracks, where crime is most
prevalent at night. However, that would come at price to the south side since the residents of the south
of railroad tracks contribute more to the town s taxes. The assistant chief would have to use the money
coming from the south side for crime deterrence in the north to prevent migration of criminals to the

Barrio Rising Book Report
Barrio Rising is a book about urban popular politics and the making of modern Venezuela. It portrays
the democracy and violence in Venezuela between the 1950s and the Bolivarian Revolution of 1998.
People who lived during these times protested about the unfair treatment they received from the
government. They acted out in violence, guerilla warfares, and protesting. Their main goal, in these
communities, was to have their voices heard and their demands met to their standards.
In the 1950s, Marcos Pérez Jiménez, the president, modernized Venezuela by building dozens of
superblocks in the capital, Caracas. These buildings housed several thousands of poor people without
jobs, health care, utilities, etc. With the unfinished business of dictator Marcos Perez Jimenez, who

Social Causes Of Youth Homelessness
On this essay, I am going to write about youth homelessness the causes of this phenomenon in this
country, and why it remains an issue very complex to resolve. There are a number of causes for youth
homelessness but we can divide them into two big groups: Causes derived from social policies such as
lack of funding or cuts to housing benefit; and causes derived from personal circumstances, for
example, a family breakdown.
Both renting and owing a home are challenging options for young people for many reasons including
lack of skills and money; that in some occasions translate not having somewhere to stay. On the social
causes for homelessness we find that one of the biggest issues is the shortage of housing, the
parliament estimates the need for additional housing in England at between 232,000 to 300,000 new
units per year, a level not reached since the late 1970s and two to three times current supply. Even
though this does not only affect young people in my opinion young people are one of the most
disadvantaged because the lack of supply makes housing very expensive and under 25 s get paid less
minimum wage so they can t afford to pay a house deposit. Another important social policy cause is
that since April 2017 young people aged 16 21(with some exemptions) will not be entitled to apply for
housing benefit a move made by the government to prevent young people slipping into a life of
benefits (HM treasury 2015). However, this new policy in my point of view just makes the

In his teen years, Elvis absorbed the cultural aspects and musical style of Country, Gospel, and
Rhythm Blues. He lived in the South, where Country music was most prevalent, it was sort of a given
for him for him to adopt the country music style. His parents were devout churchgoers, and Elvis
frequently attended the all night revivals, where he enjoyed jumping around and singing the gospel. It
is also known that Elvis spent quite a bit of time on Memphis s Beale Street, known for its Rhythm
Blues clubs. When Elvis did unoriginal songs that had been sung previously by other artists, he added
his own flavor that was made up of his mixed Gospel, Country, and R B background. His style drew
diverse crowds, and songs such as Hound Dog and Don t Be Cruel went to #1 in the Country, R B and
Pop charts. None of this justifies the deification of Elvis. After a brief stint in the US Army, Elvis
started concentrating more on movies. He made a wide variety of movies, GI Blues, Blue Hawaii,
Viva Las Vegas, and Fun in Acapulco to name a few. Although the movies were basically glorified
music videos, as they contained no real plot and a lot of singing, these movies and their songs made
millions. I honestly think that if the Elvis myth that is discussed in Griel Marcus s essay, Presliad, had
not already been put in place by Elvis s fans, the movies would not have grossed half the money,

The Basics Of Synchronous And Asynchronous Circuits
ABSTRACT The aim of the presented report is to understand the basics of synchronous and
asynchronous circuits. The term paper is about synchronous and asynchronous circuits and their
differences. The advantages and disadvantages of both synchronous and asynchronous circuits are
discussed further. Digital circuits and sequential circuits are also described in brief at the beginning of
the report. The clock gating, self clock gating and clock signals are explained. Further, the sequential
machines moore and mealy are discussed along with their differences and variations. In the end, the
differences between the two types of circuits are highlighted. Also, the term paper is summed with a
conclusion in the end. What are digital circuits? Those circuits wherever the signal should be one in
every of 2 distinct levels is referred to as digital circuit. Every level is taken into account jointly of 2
completely different states. Example on/off, 0/1, true/false etc. In comparison to analog circuits,
digital circuits are less susceptible to noise or degradation in quality, additionally the errors are
detected and corrected simply with the assistance of digital signals. EDA ELECTRONIC style

New Zealanders Should Never Dream Of Being Cruel
New Zealanders would never dream of being cruel to an animal. After all animals are sentient beings.
Therefore they are capable of being aware of sensations and emotions of feeling pain and suffering. In
today s world, factory farming has become popular as they are cheaper ways to produce more output
efficiently. The industry strives to maximize output and revenue while minimising cost at the expense
of animals. The giant companies that run most of the factory farming have developed caging systems
which allow for greater animals to be living in small crammed space for greater profit and

Explain What Autonomy Is In Respect To Human Dignity
1. Explain what autonomy is in respect to human dignity.
Autonomy in respect to human dignity is the right to self determination and it was used to be in
medicine to document all the decisions for the patients but that is not the case anymore. The patients
now have the right to make choices based on their own beliefs, their own values, and their own needs.
As a respiratory therapist, we have to be careful that we should not try to substitute our religious or
cultural beliefs for someone who don t believe in something; we have to remember the patients are in
control. For instance, do not resuscitate orders in some culture would be considered unacceptable;
therefore, we have to do everything to prevent death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The ethical dilemma in case 1 is autonomy and non maleficence. The physician writes an order for

case. I think I would carry out the order because it was both the patient s and family s own decision.

Cause And Effects Of Tsunami In Japan
In March of 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake hit Japan, releasing a dangerous tsunami. Japan was not
expecting the magnitude of the earthquake and tsunami, and endured much hardship after the disaster.
The effects of the tsunami can still be seen in Japan today through its residents, economy, and through
actions that have been taken to further protect residents from future disasters. Though the Japan 2011
tsunami is one of the most destructive tsunamis ever recorded, dangerous tsunamis continue to take
place across the globe. The Japan 2011 tsunami not only affected the inhabitants of Japan, but also
affected people around the world. After disasters such as this, each area must endure the aftermath of
the disaster and recover from the effects.
A tsunami is a series of huge waves occurring when there is a major disturbance on the ocean floor.
Tsunamis often occur due to earthquakes, volcanoes, or landslides (Park 16). Underwater earthquakes
may produce waves that travel in all different directions. Some tsunamis lose power and die out under
water, others may produce large waves as they approach land. Tsunamis may look like an onrushing
tidal wave as they approach land, but do not occur because of tides (Park 6). Their walls of water can
move across the open ocean at speeds of up to 560 miles per hour. When the waves hit the coast, they
can reach up to 100 feet (Park 5). The tsunami in Japan is believed to have occurred after two of Earth

Essay about The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements
The Four Agreements
After reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz I realized I ve been living dreams of other
people in my life and not my own. It was decided early on what I should do, what s possible and what
s not. Starting at birth we are told what to think by our parents, schools, and church. Subconsciously,
we have made agreements with them to live our life according to their rules. Don Miguel believes that
these agreements are self limiting and shares four agreements that if we adapt into our lives we will
reach true peace and happiness. The book made so much sense to me, but the hard part is to actually
commit to living out the four agreements. In short, the four agreements are listed below: ... Show more

I finally realized that people will talk about you whether you re doing good or bad.
Don t Make Assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.
Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstanding, sadness and drama. With
just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
We make assumptions because we need explanations (to our questions) to address what s going on in
our own minds. The mind is a powerful thing and our minds have different voices and personality that
can create a lot of confusion. When I make assumptions there is always conflict that follows. I know
now that through communication we can arrive to resolution. This agreement rings true for me and has
caused disappointment and sadness in my life to be at a point in my life that I can ask for what I want.
Always Do Your Best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when
you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best and you will avoid
self judgment, self abuse and regret.
I don t always feel as if I did my best I never have, too. In this agreement I know it mentions that your

On Going Home By Joan Didion
In her essay On Going Home, author Joan Didion speaks to new parents about how the experience of
going home after starting a new family can trigger feelings of disconnection between families, old and
new. Written from Didion s own experience returning to her childhood home for her daughter s first
birthday, the essay describes her nostalgia for her previous home and how she regrets being unable to,
as a mother, provide the same familial experiences she had as a child. Using relatable invention,
imagery inducing arrangement, and syntax that inspires more deliberate reading by the audience,
Didion effectively convinces her readers of the familial fragmentation that occurs with the creation of
a nuclear family.
Didion s use of the first canon of rhetoric, invention, exemplifies her command of the emotional side
of rhetoric. An example is the line, I have another cup of coffee with my mother. We get along very
well, veterans of a guerilla war we never understood (Didion par. 3). This line expertly conveys the
combative nature of the relationship a mother has with her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Instead of filling the space between thoughts with conjunctions and connectors, she fills them with
silence. A paragraph continuing the description of her time at home that begins Days pass. I see no one

effective use of similar syntax is the lines Marriage is the classic betrayal. Or perhaps it is not any
more (par. 1 2). When Didion makes observations like these but doesn t immediately offer more
explanation, the audience must read with the intent of finding out what is meant, rather than simply
being handed a justification. These short, direct thoughts unembellished by accompanying
explanations create more engaging writing, resulting in a more affected audience that is more likely to

Black Texans Essay
When one thinks of African American history in the United States, images of slavery and the
antebellum south are what invariably come to mind. While these images are indeed apt and applicable
to understanding black history in the United States, as Alwyn Barr demonstrates in his text Black
Texans: A History of African Americans in Texas, 1528 1995, the history of African Americans in the
U.S. date farther back than slavery and encompasses regions other than what has become known as
the deep south.
Evaluating the book overall, it is evident that Barr s central purpose for writing the book was to make
clear how the black community and culture developed in Texas. While this is not implicitly stated, the
chronological context of the books ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because little historical discourse on blacks in Texas has been published, Barr must rely on primary
sources as his main focus for research. Although some secondary material is used, especially for
analysis of modern black communities in Texas, Barr widely utilizes primary information. Seeking to
assess the effectiveness of this method, it is evident that while some of the information presented in
the text is somewhat dry, primary source material was best suited to meet the author s objectives
overall. Because primary sources are the central focus of the work, the integrity of what Barr writes
cannot be refuted.
Examining how the book enhances the reader s understanding of Texas history, it could be asserted
that Barr s exposition provides a considerable amount of insight into the development not only of the
black community but also the development of the state in general. Barr shows that blacks played an
integral role in the development of Texas: a fact that is often overlooked by many historians. Even
though the book provides a considerable amount of insight, however, it is overall quite dry. As such,
the book would probably be useful for history students, graduate students and instructors looking to
discover more about Texas or black history.
Even though the text is dense at times, the author does a compelling job of presenting the

Analysis Of The Planets By Gustav Theodore Holst
Gustav Theodore Holst was born on September 21st, 1874 and died on May 25th, 1934 he was an
English composer and teacher. He was best known for The Planets suite, this composition became
famous internationally after World War One. The Planets was composed from 1914 to 1916, it had
seven movements, each of the movements had the Astrological traits of the planets but had no
connections to mythology. The first movement of the suite is Mars Bringer of War which refers to the
God of War. This movement includes various instruments such as tubas, trumpets, trombones, horns,
timpani, flutes, clarinets, violins, cellos, and snare drums. The movement was characterized by five
beats and a minor scale which indicates the opposite of happy. There is no harmonic purpose in the
Bringer of War piece, I would classify it as an inhuman piece of work because war is horrific,
insensible at all costs. The music was suspenseful and tormenting since the beginning, it had a fast
tempo throughout the whole movement. Many dynamics were used all the way through, when the
movement was finishing up many rests kept showing as if war came to an end or was coming to an
end. Mars, Bringer of War gave me an utterly angry, threatening vibe, the combination of the rhythms,
the vibrato of the string instruments and the beats of the drum gave the whole movement a military
essence. Although I believe that the rhythm, in the beginning, was not the same in the end it somehow
slightly changed. Gustav creates

The Impact Of Technological Change On The British...
Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th
and early 19th century. A series of significant inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and
water frame had precipitated British economy s evolution from pre modern to sustained economic
growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in
literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks outlined that the real reason for the predominance of
labour saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of production is
itself a spur to innovation and to inventions (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right
combination of useful knowledge generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited by a
supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the correct incentives for
entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155 156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and institutions on
technological change in Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important than the latter.
Britain s peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological change
over industrial revolution. The abundance of coal s supply made energy very cheap (Allen, 2009,
p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging from the mid
17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171 172). Due to the factor price structure of British

The Technology of Cash Flows Essay
In today s economy, cash is often considered to be king. This rings true for consumers and companies
alike. The flows of a company s cash are summarized on a company s statement of cash flows
(Gibson, 2011). The cash flow statement provides information regarding the effectiveness of company
management in operating the business, how the company s money is derived, and the way funds are
being spent (Megan, Hategan, Caciuc, Cotlet, 2009). A company s management uses the statement of
cash flows to assist with budgeting as it can predict cash flows in the future (Megan et al., 2009).
Additionally, investors use it to assess the financial health of a company (Gibson, 2011; Megan et al.,
2009). Technology companies have experienced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significant competition requires continued efforts in innovation and investments in new
technologies, products and services (Google, 2014). To keep up with the rapid growth, it maintains a
large staff of more than 47,000 (as of the end of 2013) with 39% of its employees in research and
development and 32.1% in sales and marketing (Google, 2014).
Ultimately, companies are in the business to make money. To do this, they trade goods or services for
cash, credit, or other goods and/or services of comparable value (bartering). Although some businesses
rely more heavily on cash transactions, businesses would be unable to remain a going concern without
long run cash inflows exceeding outflows (Megan et al., 2009). Essentially, the statement of cash
flows bridges the gap between accruals and cash flows and allows for the quality of earnings to be
evaluated (Ohlson Aier, 2009). It accomplishes this task by making adjustments to the net income
figure from the income statement to add back non cash related transactions (Gibson, 2011; Megan et
al., 2009). As noted by Ohlson and Aier (2009), cash in a literal sense must have been exchanged for it
to have an effect on the statement of cash flows (p. 1093). Therefore, expenses such as depreciation
and amortization that do not involve the use of cash are added

Unanimous Verdict vs. Majority Rules Verdicts
The use of a jury is the traditional method within the common law for deciding the facts in any dispute
between parties. The role of a jury is to determine question of fact. The jury is in a powerful method
because ultimately, it determines whether a person is guilty or innocent. In civil cases, the main
function of the jury is to find the facts having regard to the evidence, and assess damages. The number
of jurors used in a civil trial is less than that used in a criminal trial. Another important difference is
that the verdict does not have to be unanimous, meaning that a judge will accept a majority decision of
a civil jury.

The Stages Of Bereavement
Introduction
Understanding that the stages of bereavement varies from person to person is important, so one does
not feel they are grieving inappropriately. It is also important to have a general idea of what one can
expect when experiencing a loss. It seems that often people think that everyone should only grieve for
certain amount of times, or something is wrong with them, when in fact, no matter the length of time,
or degree, it is normal. In 1969, Elisabeth Kubler Ross created the stage perspective, which discusses
the five stages of bereavement and what each stage could entail. This is so important in understanding
the process of bereavement and the reason people act the way they do when losing a loved one.

Aldosterone and Hormone Replacement Therapy and Renal...
Aldosterone and Hormone Replacement Therapy
Aldosterone falls in the class of hormone called mineralocorticoids, produces by the adrenal glands
and is found near the kidneys. It sustains blood pressure, water and salt balance within the body. This
procedure is assisting the kidneys to preserve sodium and excrete potassium in order to maintain a
balance. If Aldosterone production falls, there isn t enough regulation of salt and water balance (as
aldosterone is being lost through urination) triggering blood pressure and blood volume to decline as a
result of the kidneys not functioning properly. If body is in need of salt, water is not retained and
adrenals release more Aldosterone and salt is reabsorbed from the tubule.

The prognosis for people with Addison s disease can be uncertain. If untreated, it will be fatal, if

Buy Nothing Day Thesis Statement
Americans and others around the world are often struck with what is deemed shopaholic syndrome.
The symptoms of this prevalent matter are spending preposterous amounts of time and money
shopping. To treat this, a Buy Nothing Day was conceived and established in some countries. As the
name implies, it is day when people choose to buy nothing to fight against and raise awareness of
overconsumption and growing consumerism in our world. There are a myriad of flaws in the logic of
the Buy Nothing Day; therefore, the Buy Nothing Day is not the transcendent solution to this problem.
(Claim) This day could be required for the citizens to follow, or it can be through optional
participation. If this day is optional, those who don t over consume will participate, while those who
over consume will choose to engage in a nice day of shopping. An exemplification of this is

awareness is raised for an issue doesn t mean it will be a step toward solving a real problem. Several
may argue that this day would be a positive if it were required since it would reach all America. Even
so, this would further cause a routine and not bring about change. Also, forcing people not to buy
anything for a day doesn t connote a change of heart in their opinions on consumerism. Consumerism
will still occur equally as much as it did in the past, even if one day out of the year of buying nothing
is forced upon the American people. The arguments for a Buy Nothing Day may mean well, but they

Roman Civilization Dbq
The greek and roman civilizations were very influential to our modern day civilization, for example
our government, sporting events, and medicine first became widely spread in their culture. In
document 6, the text explains the branches of government during ancient rome. Their government had
a significant influence in our government today. For example it split up the power between the
branches and we use similar branches today such as the judicial branch. The Romans created a system
of government which influenced many other cultures. America even developed it own form of this
government. Though it is not exactly the same there are many similarities. For instance the Roman
republic separated the power of the branches. This is so no one branch

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP)
Abstract
This paper is going to take a detailed look at Bombardier Recreational Products, also known as BRP.
The examination of BRP will begin with the inception of the company, and the product started it all,
the tracked vehicle for transportation on snow. Its evolution took it from a car like vehicle to what is
known today as the snowmobile and while it has evolved with modern technology it is the heartbeat
that has helped BRP grow into a global leader. BRP just does not make snowmobiles; they
manufacture a wide range of recreational products to be used all year round. Vehicles that enhance the
human experience across land and sea. As much fun and success as BRP has with the products they
produce, the success of BRP lies in the company s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
BRP, like many companies, offer replacement parts for all the products they manufacture because they
want to keep people outside enjoying their products. They also make accessories and clothing to help
an owner customize their vehicle to their liking and keep them comfortable while doo ing it
(publications.brp.com).
Today BRP s success is not possible without the management team that has driven the brand forward
since Bombardier left it in his family s hands in 1964. Like Bombardier, the company continues to be
a leader in innovation and technology. The focus of the company s vision to excel with the mission of
excellence has maintained the values of Bombardier in a global presence that would make him

Michael Newdow s Pledge Of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it
stands, one nation, under Congress, the Supreme Court, the Declaration of Independence, our
founding fathers, and the President, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Francis Bellamy wrote the Pledge of Allegiance in 1892 (Baer). He did this in the memory of the
400th anniversary of Columbus discovering America ( The Pledge ). In 1954, Congress added the
words, under God to the pledge; this was done for the differentiation of the United States from the
Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Recently, there has been great controversy about the words under God existing in the nations Pledge
of Allegiance. Michael Newdow, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Placing God in the pledge was thought of as a term that could be applied to all religions and creeds;
thus, the word God would be describing something more than just material existence.
Building the basis of the United States was the founding fathers of the nation. They were not all
necessarily under a Christian belief; nonetheless, they did wish for the people of the United States to
have morals and values (Williams).
On the contrary, some people do not feel that the nation should follow what the founding fathers
thought and did. Gewertz states, We decide to keep these sayings or traditions in play just because
they were the values of our founding fathers. I have to say that not all the values of our founding
fathers are values I want to embody.
Despite the fact that the founding fathers assumed the existence of an almighty power, they also
protected the right of the people to believe or not. Gewertz does not agree with all ideas of the
founding fathers, but he also says, the phrase under God is in keeping with the intentions of the
Founding Fathers. They anchored their thinking in the idea of a higher law in order to ensure that all
power does not reside in the state. Agreeing with Gewertz, Cameron thinks that the founding fathers
would not be too happy with the way things are going now.
Furthermore, in recognition of the words under God being added to the Pledge of Allegiance,
President Eisenhower told of how thankful he was

Top Ten Reasons Students Cannot Cite Or Rely On Wikipedia
Buddha once said, Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have
said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. Thousands of years later
this is still relevant and gives an important to today s youth: don t believe everything you hear. Today,
many adolescents use websites like Google and Wikipedia to help them research for any projects.
They see it as a quick way to answer any question because all they have to do is type in the question
and write down what the screen tell them. Little do they know, they could be writing down false
evidence simply because they trusted the internet. Wikipedia is not appropriate for academic research
because it can be edited and posted by anyone and false information can stay on the site for months
before being corrected. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the article, Top Ten Reasons Students Cannot Cite or Rely on Wikipedia written by Mark
E. Moran, an Irish student by the name of Shane Fitzgerald posted a fake quotation on a Wikipedia
article about a deceased French composer named Maurice Jarre. Later, Fitzgerald was startled to learn
that several major newspapers picked up the quote and published it in obituaries, confirming his
suspicions of the questionable ways in which journalists use websites, and Wikipedia, as a reliable
source. This proves that, while the person behind the screen publishing this article may know it is
false, it can appear just as trustworthy as any other fact in the article. It also says in the article
Warming Up to the Culture of Wikipedia by Noam Cohen, ...many curators are suspicious of a site
where anyone can create and edit an article, and where the assertions of expertise are greeted with
skepticism or, at best, a shrug. This shows that it is not only some schools that may fear inaccurate

The, No Bread For Thanksgiving

Sorry, No Bread for Thanksgiving
A few centuries ago, doctors were observing a strange phenomenon: well fed children, no matter how
much they were eating, were malnourished. The only known cure at this time was an all banana diet
[later revised to an all fruit diet] (Gut). It wasn t until World War II that a cause was attributed to Gee
Herter s disease the name of this unusual disorder. A shortage of grain led a Dutch pediatrician,
Willem Karel Dicke, to draw the conclusion that wheat was the culprit (Gut). He made this connection
when the death rate of children with this disease went from about 35% to 0% during the grain shortage
(Sanghavi). Today, Gee Herter s disease, more commonly known as coeliac or celiac disease, is better
understood. Advanced methods in molecular biology have allowed scientists to increase their
knowledge of how coeliac disease works.
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the body s immune system is responsible for
the ill symptoms by attacking the body s cells. This is different from an allergy, in that basophils and
eosinophil are specifically responsible for allergic responses (Celiac Disease Foundation). When an
individual with coeliac disease consumes wheat, barley, or rye [which contain the protein gluten]; it
triggers the immune system to attack the body. The small intestine is usually a main target;
specifically the villi, which are finger like projections that line the small

Conch Symbolism
Throughout the book the conch develops as motif and it keeps reoccuring because it has symbolic
meaning to it. The conch symbolizes order, civilization and voice. Piggy and Ralph found the conch at
the beach and they use it to bring all the boys together after the plane crash. The conch symbolizes
order and rules because of the meaning the boys give it, the conch is just a random shell but they value
it which makes it important. The conch is extremely important to Piggy because it makes him feel like
they ll have rules!..Lots of rules and when anyone breaks em wacco! (Golding 33). It gives him power
and respect he also feels as if the boys can be organized instead of being chaotic. It represents
civilization because the boys work together

The Effects Of Pathological Anxiety
With as many problems as there are today, including the stresses from family, jobs, school or socially,
psychological disorders are very common. The stress of life, at one time or another, causes people to
sometimes have a horrible feeling of anxiety. Anxiety disorder is an alarm signal, heralding an
imminent danger, allowing people to use all necessary measures to cope with the threat
(Yduoctinhhoa). People who have pathological anxiety usually experience excessive or
disproportionate symptoms to the persistent threat. This affects their activities, and is possibly
accompanied by thoughts or actions which seem excessive, repeated or prolonged, which influences

Yifan Gao Econ 206 Dr. Schneider March.24th, 2015 Policy brief 1 Personally, I believe that an increase in the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a better policy for lifting households out of poverty than an increase in the current minimum wage. The EITC, Earned Income Tax Credit, is a benefit for working people who have low to moderate income. A tax credit means more money in your pocket. It reduces the amount of taxes you owe and may also give you a refund ( EITC, Earned Income Tax Credit, Questions and Answers. ). In other words, the purpose of the EITC is to lift households which are low income out of poverty, especially for those families with children. The EITC is a combination of both reducing income tax and subsidizing salaries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 1: 2015 EITC Income Limits, Maximum Credit Amounts and Tax Law Updates First of all, I want to address the increase in household income by comparing the increase in EITC with the increase in minimum wage. Athreya, Reilly, and Simpson (2010) divided the EITC into three phases: phase in, which is the period that the more workers earned, the more credit they receive; plateau, which is the period that workers can only receive credits up to the maximum and phase out, which is the period in which workers will stop receiving the credits. Therefore, the labor supply curve will be viewed as: Figure 2 Panel A Figure 2 Panel B From Figure 2 Panel A, I realized that for the same household, without the EITC, when wages

Sigmund Freud is an Austrian physician who believed the stages of human development were characterized by sexual pleasure centered on a particular part of the body. Oral Stage (Birth to 1 year) In infancy, everything the child gets a hold of goes to their mouth. The lips, tongue, and gums are the focus of pleasurable sensations in the baby s body. Some ideas that were introduced by the textbook are very interesting and somewhat relevant to real world, but do not completely explain real life phenomenons. On the other hand, it also introduced many ideas that allowed me to perceive certain topics in a different light. One very interesting idea that the textbook brought up is the idea of altruism . The textbook treated this idea as purely a social preference. The book defined it as: someone is willing to bear a cost to benefit somebody else. Though I agree that this is true in many cases, there are also many cases in which some people are willing to bear a cost because there are negative externalities, which is something that was not talked about in Chapter 4. For example, nations join together to reach agreement on reducing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chapter on inequality discussed some important ideas that were not frequently talked about in the classroom. When Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz came to Stuy to talk about economics a few terms ago, he brought up inequalities in different countries. He mainly focused on how to eliminate income gap in different countries, and, in the data he showed, many Northern European countries were extremely effective in keeping the income gap low. After reading the textbook, I realized something that was not mentioned in his lecture, which was the effect of income gap on GDP. As the book stated, income gap motivates people to work harder in order for them to ascend through social classes. I think this partially explains why though those Northern European countries are able to reduce income gap, their ranking in worldwide annual GDP ranks are usually not extremely high. Because those societies are fairly equal and social benefits are great and readily available to most people, residents in those countries become less motivated to work extremely ... It is pretty simple why companies do choose to go public. Companies go public usually to have access to more money (Martin, 2017). Companies have two ways they can increase funding. They can sell bonds or sell shares. Although when it comes to selling bonds a company has to remember that they still have to pay interest on the money they have borrowed and pay it all back (Martin, 2017). This is why the majority of companies chose to raise the money by selling shares instead. Companies want more money for new investments, new innovations, and to be able to build up their savings too. Plus, companies need more money for when they start new projects. When a company goes public it is not always positive. One disadvantage of going public is the owner or owners of a company cannot manage the company like it is his or her private company anymore. The business must make sure and acknowledge that they are responsible to shareholders and will need to make sure that they have quarterly calls and explain their business actions and why they made the choices they did. A company making this transition and going through this process can longer just do what they want and get away with it. They have to take the responsibility and remember to respect shareholders in order to have a successful company and continue to grow. Another disadvantage carrying from the last issue is that all ... The script nicely poses the question about the advancement of technology and medicine. The hero questions the morality of living life with out defects or the need to procreate. The idea of finding an abandoned spacecraft and trying to put the pieces together of what happened to the ship also is engaging. It s a clever contradiction. While the script has definite strengths, the overall script would benefit from more development to build upon those strengths. One area that would benefit from more development is the structure and pace. It s crucial to immediately engage and grab the audience, especially in the first ten pages. The current first ten pages of the script feels slow. It introduces the characters, but nothing exciting happens to immediately draw the audience into the plot. Crucial to alleviating the cost pressures the departments face is patrol force allocation. • 18. Social Causes Of Youth Homelessness On this essay, I am going to write about youth homelessness the causes of this phenomenon in this country, and why it remains an issue very complex to resolve. There are a number of causes for youth homelessness but we can divide them into two big groups: Causes derived from social policies such as lack of funding or cuts to housing benefit; and causes derived from personal circumstances, for example, a family breakdown. Both renting and owing a home are challenging options for young people for many reasons including lack of skills and money; that in some occasions translate not having somewhere to stay. On the social causes for homelessness we find that one of the biggest issues is the shortage of housing, the parliament estimates the need for additional housing in England at between 232,000 to 300,000 new units per year, a level not reached since the late 1970s and two to three times current supply. Even though this does not only affect young people in my opinion young people are one of the most disadvantaged because the lack of supply makes housing very expensive and under 25 s get paid less minimum wage so they can t afford to pay a house deposit. Another important social policy cause is that since April 2017 young people aged 16 21(with some exemptions) will not be entitled to apply for housing benefit a move made by the government to prevent young people slipping into a life of benefits (HM treasury 2015). On Going Home By Joan Didion In her essay On Going Home, author Joan Didion speaks to new parents about how the experience of going home after starting a new family can trigger feelings of disconnection between families, old and new. Written from Didion s own experience returning to her childhood home for her daughter s first birthday, the essay describes her nostalgia for her previous home and how she regrets being unable to, as a mother, provide the same familial experiences she had as a child. Using relatable invention, imagery inducing arrangement, and syntax that inspires more deliberate reading by the audience, Didion effectively convinces her readers of the familial fragmentation that occurs with the creation of a nuclear family. Didion s use of the first canon of rhetoric, invention, exemplifies her command of the emotional side of rhetoric. An example is the line, I have another cup of coffee with my mother. Examining how the book enhances the reader s understanding of Texas history, it could be asserted that Barr s exposition provides a considerable amount of insight into the development not only of the black community but also the development of the state in general. Barr shows that blacks played an integral role in the development of Texas: a fact that is often overlooked by many historians. Even though the book provides a considerable amount of insight, however, it is overall quite dry. As such, the book would probably be useful for history students, graduate students and instructors looking to discover more about Texas or black history. He was best known for The Planets suite, this composition became famous internationally after World War One. The Planets was composed from 1914 to 1916, it had seven movements, each of the movements had the Astrological traits of the planets but had no connections to mythology. The first movement of the suite is Mars Bringer of War which refers to the God of War. This movement includes various instruments such as tubas, trumpets, trombones, horns, timpani, flutes, clarinets, violins, cellos, and snare drums. The movement was characterized by five beats and a minor scale which indicates the opposite of happy. There is no harmonic purpose in the Bringer of War piece, I would classify it as an inhuman piece of work because war is horrific, insensible at all costs. The music was suspenseful and tormenting since the beginning, it had a fast tempo throughout the whole movement. Many dynamics were used all the way through, when the movement was finishing up many rests kept showing as if war came to an end or was coming to an end. Mars, Bringer of War gave me an utterly angry, threatening vibe, the combination of the rhythms, the vibrato of the string instruments and the beats of the drum gave the whole movement a military essence. Although I believe that the rhythm, in the beginning, was not the same in the end it somehow slightly changed. Gustav creates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Impact Of Technological Change On The British... Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th and early 19th century. A series of significant inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and water frame had precipitated British economy s evolution from pre modern to sustained economic growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks outlined that the real reason for the predominance of labour saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of production is itself a spur to innovation and to inventions (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right combination of useful knowledge generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited by a supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the correct incentives for entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155 156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and institutions on technological change in Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important than the latter. Britain s peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological change over industrial revolution. The abundance of coal s supply made energy very cheap (Allen, 2009, p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging from the mid 17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171 172). Due to the factor price structure of British ... The flows of a company s cash are summarized on a company s statement of cash flows (Gibson, 2011). The cash flow statement provides information regarding the effectiveness of company management in operating the business, how the company s money is derived, and the way funds are being spent (Megan, Hategan, Caciuc, Cotlet, 2009). A company s management uses the statement of cash flows to assist with budgeting as it can predict cash flows in the future (Megan et al., 2009). Ultimately, companies are in the business to make money. To do this, they trade goods or services for cash, credit, or other goods and/or services of comparable value (bartering). Although some businesses rely more heavily on cash transactions, businesses would be unable to remain a going concern without long run cash inflows exceeding outflows (Megan et al., 2009). Essentially, the statement of cash flows bridges the gap between accruals and cash flows and allows for the quality of earnings to be evaluated (Ohlson Aier, 2009). It accomplishes this task by making adjustments to the net income figure from the income statement to add back non cash related transactions (Gibson, 2011; Megan et al., 2009). As noted by Ohlson and Aier (2009), cash in a literal sense must have been exchanged for it to have an effect on the statement of cash flows (p. 1093). The, No Bread For Thanksgiving Joseph Nguyen MMBio 240 O Neil Sorry, No Bread for Thanksgiving A few centuries ago, doctors were observing a strange phenomenon: well fed children, no matter how much they were eating, were malnourished. The only known cure at this time was an all banana diet [later revised to an all fruit diet] (Gut). It wasn t until World War II that a cause was attributed to Gee Herter s disease the name of this unusual disorder. A shortage of grain led a Dutch pediatrician, Willem Karel Dicke, to draw the conclusion that wheat was the culprit (Gut). He made this connection when the death rate of children with this disease went from about 35% to 0% during the grain shortage (Sanghavi). Today, Gee Herter s disease, more commonly known as coeliac or celiac disease, is better understood. Advanced methods in molecular biology have allowed scientists to increase their knowledge of how coeliac disease works. Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease, meaning that the body s immune system is responsible for the ill symptoms by attacking the body s cells. This is different from an allergy, in that basophils and eosinophil are specifically responsible for allergic responses (Celiac Disease Foundation).
