Facts
 Signals in the brain can go 400km/h going through the

body.
 The brain is the command center of the Nervous
system, it stores and processes information.
 The Cerebrum is the part of the brain that deals with
memory and language.
Functions
 It helps you

smell, taste, hear, reflexe
s, touch, and the brain
receives these messages.
It helps you move your
body. It tells your heart
to pump blood and your
lungs to breath.
Major Parts/Organs
 Some major parts are the

central nerve system , it is
the command post for
messages to travel through
the body.
 The brain plays a key role
for storing and giving
information.
 The spinal cored is a
highway for nerves to carry
information through the
body.
Interactions With Other Systems
 It tells your muscles to

contract and release to
move your body.
 It also tells your heart to
pump blood and oxygen
through the body.
 The nervous system signals
other systems such as the
digestive, endocrine, and
the circulatory system, to
make changes when
needed.
Role in Maintaining Homeostasis
 It tells you if your body is

hungry, hot, thirsty, or
cold.
 With out it, you would
die of hunger, thirst, etc.
It is very important to
maintain Homeostasis.
 For example, it tells your
muscles to rapidly
contract to warm your
body if its cold.
Health/Diseases
 The most common brain

injury is physical injuries.
It can do a lot of damage to
the brain.
 Reflexes can prevent
injuries from happening so
your brain is kept safe and
not damaged.
 Some drugs either speed
up or slow the
communication between
neurons. So dugs can be
harmful and helpful.
Quiz
 1. How fast can signals in the nervous system travel?
 A:

 2.What system does the brain work with?
 A-muscular system
 B-Respiratory system

 C-Digestive system
 D-All of them
Quiz Answers
 1. How fast can signals in the nervous system travel?
 It can travel 400kl through the body

 2.What system does the brain work with?
