Context Of Safeguarding
When talking about child protection in reference to safeguarding it is about more than just
identifying child abuse. When people think about safe guarding and child protection people
automatically think about physical child abuse. Safeguarding comes down to more than that, it is
also about ensuring children are protected in all aspects, everything from their living conditions,
health to educational needs. Practitioners must look at all of these aspects, in order to protect
children and young people's educational needs schools and any other agencies, such as doctors,
consultants, speech therapists, physio therapists need to come together and the multi–agencies then
need to ensure specific needs are being identified and then catered to accordingly,

Context Measurements
My research this week focuses on the importance of context measurements, (Spitzer, 2007).
Measurements are a part of our daily life, we use measurements to establish goals, create motivation
and track our progress, (Spitzer, 2007). Without measurements, we have nothing to base our
direction, define our path or develop milestones in our progression, (Spitzer, 2007). Measurements
our critical to advancing our position and being competitive not only in athletic endeavors but in our
developing organizations. Measurements are critical to remain competitive, establish baselines and
create new levels of productivity, (Spitzer, 2007). According to the author, measurements are usually
viewed in a negative light, (Spitzer, 2007). Our perception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Taking the wrong measurements can have a negative impact on the outcome due to inaccuracy or
wrong direction. Organizations are renowned for measuring every aspect of the company by
acquiring copious amounts of useless data that many cannot explain. Sometimes, the data collected
can be misleading and clouds our vision causing misdirection in productive outcomes. According to
the author, there are two types of measurements, the first being motivational and the second is
informational, (Spitzer, 2007). Motivational is geared towards rewards, which can be measured by
productivity and or performance, (Spitzer, 2007). Rewards are a part of life, every employee strives
to be awarded for good work, (Spitzer, 2007). Unfortunately, this drive to earn awards can be too
strong thus shadowing things that are important. Awards can also affect change; an employee will
not embrace change even in the best interest of the organization if it deters from receiving awards,
(Spitzer, 2007). Awards can easily be the demise of many organizations when not measured
correctly, (Spitzer, 2007). An example of this would be to give monetary awards for exceeding
established production levels per piece versus set

Our people are proud to be a leading dental corporate in the UK" (Southern Dental, 2006). HR needs
to understand where the business is at present, where is going and how to get to where the Company
wants to be.
Technological innovation
As Southern Dental grows rapidly, technological advances can mean both a cost and a saving to us.
On one hand, our Practices depend on new technologies and as a business we can not afford to fall
behind our competitors. Old fashioned dentistry is now only a small part of our business, our bread
and butter so to speak, mostly from our NHS contract. The real profit comes from the private and
cosmetic dental work which relies heavily on latest technology and often expensive technological
advances. Not only is Southern Dental expected to purchase that technology but needs to ensure that
our employees are fully competent, knowledgeable and keep up to date with these. Our CEO
recognizes that a sizable investment needs to be made to keep up to date and thus keep that
mainstream of revenue flowing.
On the other hand, technology also presents the business with some cost effective solutions. R4 our
clinical system is linked to each Practice and Head office, ensuring that information is easily
accessible and transferrable between. As our acquisitions focuses more towards the north and
southwest areas of the country, we have started to trial video conferencing for all field area business

Sociocultural Context
Humans are unique creatures simply due to the fact that every person grows up in a different
environment. I know for a fact that the way I grew up is different compared to the way my friends
grew up, and it is different compared to how others grew up and will grow up in the past and future.
This paper covers the subject of sociocultural context, what it is, how it can impact a child, and how
it impacted my own development.
Before anything else, the term "Sociocultural context" must be defined. Sociocultural context is
defined as "the physical, social, cultural, economic, and historical circumstances that make up any
child's environment". (Siegler, DeLoache, & Eisenberg, 2014) It is a very broad term covering a
wide variety of subjects that have the potential to impact a child's development either positively or
negatively. Due to it being so broad, it is critical to give at least one example for each of these terms
in the definition. An example of a physical environment is where someone physically grew up, and
includes factors such as environment and one's physical house. (Siegler, et al. 2014) Social
environment is who one grew up around, including friends, family, and educators. (Siegler, et al.
2014) Cultural environment refers to a set of beliefs, customs, practices and behavior that influence
population. Economic circumstances refer to one's financial well–being; and historical
circumstances refer to the time that one grew up in and the historical events that one was

Text, Context, And Context
Text and Context
1.) Text– "Any media item–photographs, advertisements, films, magazines, books, websites,
television programs, newspaper articles and so on."
Context– Production contexts– "Finding out the acknowledged motivations of those involved in
production." (pg. 93)
Distribution contexts– "The two main contexts are space and time, where the text is being read and
when it is being read." (pg. 94)
Audience contexts– "Any reader may hold only hold for a particular audience." (pg. 97)
When looking at the text within a context, different types of contextuality are explore. Production
contexts, distribution contexts, and audience contexts. Production context is the study of how texts
are produced; in this case, looking at this ad, it was not something difficult to create, most likely
created by 1–3 people, printed off and posted. When looking at distribution contexts, space is an
important element. Different types of media are located in different "spaces", in this case this poster
is located in a university in order to affect the texts intended meaning. Audience contexts are the
study of how audiences use and make sense of the text. There are two types of audiences in this
case, the inscribed reader and the actual reader. The inscribed reader is who the media is deliberately
addressed too, which in this case is most likely university students, typically ones that consume
alcohol. The actual reader is anyone else who comes across this poster, which could be anyone from

Broader Social Context
Question: What are the major components in sociology to see the broader social context? Social
Context: In order to see the broader social context we must need to understand first what social
context actually is? Social context is the indirect and direct influence of individuals that are in
constant communication. It is basically a social environment in which people of different type lives.
This environment influences the life of an individual and tells us how these people are influenced by
their society i–e. a group of people sharing a same culture, tradition, religion or territory. It is all
about how people of different classification differ from each other. Broader Social Context: To see

his foes and they don't like to see him playing but that same kid will react in the same manner when
he would become a parent himself. That is how

The Simple Gift Analysis
Through studying texts one can gain a greater understanding of how individuals can transition into
more prosperous and positive phases of life as well into new and differing social contexts. This is
explored in the texts The Simple Gift composed by Steven Herrick, as Billy transitions into a new
life in the town of Bendarat and in Jasper Jones as Charlie develops new outlooks in his life and
moves into social contexts he would have once perceived as taboo. Through the portrayal of
transitions in these texts, the responder gains a wider perception how circumstances can create
transitions into new phases of life and gain a greater understanding of contrasting social contexts.
Transitions can result in entering new social contexts, resulting in a new phase of life in which a
positive outlook on life is attained. Herrick is able to convey this in The Simple Gift as Billy needs
to transition into a more satisfying and fulfilling life through entering a completely new social
context. Assonance and profanity in "each deadbeat no–hoper s–thole lonely downtrodden house"
emphasises and drives home his resentment for his current social context and highlights the need for
Billy to transition into a new stage in his life, while the use of first person in "I'm not proud, I'm
sixteen and soon to be homeless" foreshadows that from Billy's point of view transition is going to
be of a confronting nature. A stark contrast is seen between this description and that of Billy's use of

Context Of My Classroom Context
Classroom Context
The context of the classroom is a 6th grade math class. The students are at varying developmental
levels from below level to advanced/gifted. The types of learners I have are the auditory, visually,
and mostly the bodily/kinesthetic learners. I have students who are from multiple ethnicities such as
Hispanic, White, Asian, Middle Eastern, and African American. I also have students with varying
exceptionalities.
Classroom Environment
My classroom environment is designed in relation to the learning opportunities provided for
students creating a positive, warm, and welcoming classroom environment. My classroom will
foster a diverse atmosphere. This is important so each student may learn. I will have plenty of
resources in my classroom that foster learning and allow students to feel comfortable. I will make
my students feel comfortable in asking me questions. My classroom will be a tactile environment no
items that will cause distraction to the students. I will also have items to help students relieve their
anxiety. My classroom will foster student centered learning and students will be autonomous and
will be able to work collaboratively on projects.
Differentiated Instruction
In my classroom, I will differentiate learning by offering a variety of methods of instruction such as
hands on models, cooperative learning, technology, lectures, group activities, independent learning
assignments. I will also adjust delivery based on understanding of concepts. I

Using Cloud Storage And Collaboration Solutions
Over the last several years, there has been a shift in how technology is designed, produced, and
utilized. Historically, technology was produced in low quantities for a high cost, limiting the
customer base to corporations and few wealthy individuals. Today, many technologies are produced
in high quantities for a cost that is affordable to individual consumers (Banerjee, 2012). As these
technologies become increasingly affordable, more are beginning to originate in the consumer
sector. Consumers soon found uses for these technologies in business, and over time, these personal
products have been increasingly infiltrating the corporate environment. This trend is referred to as
"Consumerization" (Weiß and Leimeister). Consumerization ... Show more content on

This could potentially mean that Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is being sent through
these consumer tools that are hosted outside of the organization. This produces an additional shift
where organizations need to figure out how to secure company data as network perimeters become
more blurred.
Context–aware security offers the potential to better secure this dynamic business environment. It
goes beyond merely trusting that a person should be granted access to an object because they know
a password; it considers additional contextual information to ensure an action is secure. This
information may include location, time, sensitivity of content, strength of authentication or
encryption, reputation of a URL or IP address, historical patterns of behavior, or health of the
operating system (MacDonald).
Context–aware security systems, while a viable option to help strengthen security in environments
influenced by consumerization, is not without its challenges. A key challenge is ensuring that only
quality context is being used. Quality of context (QoC) can be defined

Circles Of Context
Usually when I am told to read a verse in the Bible, I just read that verse and using the information
that specific verse provided, I take a guess at what that verse is saying or explaining. Little did I
know that because I was reading just one verse alone, I was probably misinterpreting it. The circles
of context were invented to help with this problem. We first look at the immediate text, then we can
look at the rest of the book, now we can look at the introductions' of this book and others by the
same author. Then, we can look throughout the same testament to see if any other information
relates, and finally we can look into other testaments. By understanding the circles of context, we

The Context Of Stanislavski
Methods:
A very important aspect to Stanislavski's methods was subtext. He really wanted actors to pick up
the underlying text of the dialogue being said. He wanted the actors to not say the subtext but show
it through body movements, pauses in speech, gestures, etc. This is what was the main element for
speaking to the audience, the subtext was something the audience could not read, it was something
they had to pick up from viewing. In Chekhov's plays silence was one of the main forms of subtext,
as it would enrich the scene. This also builds a connection with the audience because the subtext is
almost as if there is a secret between the audience and the character and no else knows it but them.
Thus heightening the audience's interest in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Emotional memory was very successful however, Stanislavski believed that it was losing its purpose
and it needed to be redefined (Sawoski). The procedure of emotional memory was becoming
extremely tiresome and exhausting to the actors, which would make them feel sick, hysterical or
tense. The results were coming through with negative outcomes, the actors would not be as vocal
and would stay in their shell more, and Stanislavski would have to force those feelings out of them,
rather than them doing it themselves. This led to Stanislavski trying to find other methods of using
the actor's emotions but without mentally affecting them ("Stanislavsky Method

International Business And Multinational Corporations
The end of the 1980s experienced a visible change experienced in the literature concerning MNE
functions and nature of business (Segal–Horn and Faulkner, 2010). Before 1980s, the main research
in MNE field was about analyzing relation between affiliates and headquarters of the firm, and also
decisions concerning making investment in foreign country, which was also experienced in
Dunning's work. After that, the focus was shifted to operations concerning coordination in
management of a network of affiliates of an MNE and analysis of the competitive advantages
received by these affiliates from the respective economies. Therefore, the last 20 years have
experienced a very beneficial theoretical work in the field of international business and ... Show

Their main aim is to maximize the competitive advantage for the particular MNE through
integration of global activities and local differences within each foreign unit. In the modern
perspective, two main theories, i.e. network–based theory and knowledge–based theory of MNE, are
prevalent, which are explained hereunder (Forsgren, 2008).
The most importance sources of competitive advantage for MNEs are their affiliates. This is because
affiliates establish a deep–rooted and long–term connection with their local partners and through this
new knowledge information can be established. Such knowledge is implicit and is inserted in a
particular context. Inserted or embedded knowledge itself is implicit and is also specific to a context
(Pedersen, 2014). It is also entrenched in the inter–dependent activities of the employees and staff
members who observe shared experiences as well as values. These traits cause more complexity and
confusions in terms of barriers for transferability of such knowledge (Stephan, 2013). This affiliate
embeddedness in relation with stakeholders within the business network actually opposes business
contact made traditionally, in which firm used to make connections with only consumers and
suppliers and relation used to end with the exchange (Lundan, 2002). Similarly, some of these
relationships with affiliates are established gradually with the passage of time and thus higher level

Clueless Context
Every transformation creatively replicates the original with an imprint based on cultural, social and
historical contexts. The teenflick Clueless directed by Amy Heckerling is a recontextualized
transformation of the 19th century Emma by Jane Austen, which even though is a dramatic
transformation, it still retains the ideas of the original text. The transformation of the idyllic country
society of regency Highbury in Emma to the fast–paced world of modern Beverly Hills of Clueless,
explores the socio–cultural values such as courtship and marriage which are challenged and
redefined. Simultaneously, themes such as wealth and status are still imprinted in the film despite
the cultural, social, nor historical contextual difference. Jane Austen extensively uses the omniscient

Cher is the modern day equivalent of Emma. She lives in a luxurious life, owns a car, has an
unlimited expense account, and so she is an American version of the Regency gentry. This is
reflected by the montages of Cher's luxurious life, along with the non–digetic song "Kids in
America." However, this song contradicts what is being shown on the screen, as they are not the
average American kids. This contrast is further highlighted by the ironic voiceover by Cher as she
says "I actually have a way normal life for a teenager." When she clearly doesn't as she uses a
computer to match her outfit. Tilt shots are also used on Tai when she is first introduced to
emphasize her lack of fashion, and hence her inferior class. Similar social hierarchy of Emma is also
elucidated by the stereotypical costumes and props of the 'greeks,' 'loadies,' and the 'Persian mafia.'
Therefore, it is clear that the values of social hierarchy and wealth are still apparent in both Emma
and Clueless despite their respective

hardware interacted and communicated with the system itself. Due to this, software development
was significantly more difficult than it is today. Through the use of hardware abstraction layers in
the modern day however, programmers don't require all of this information due to their programs
being compatible with any device. Hardware abstraction layers (HAL) allow the operating system to
interact with hardware elements of the machine that said operating system is running on; and it does

The Windows NT family of operating systems utilises a HAL directly from the kernel of the system,
in the kernel space between hardware and executive services in the file NTOSKRL.EXE. Using this
HAL, kernel–mode code is made much more portable despite having different memory management
architectures, and different I/O bus architectures. Resource management in an operating systems
environment is the controlled allocation and de–allocation of system resources, for example;
processor cores, memory pages, bandwidth and many others. These resources tend to be shared by
various programs running on the machine which require them in order for the program itself to run
accurately, and also to ensure that the machine can allocate just enough resources so that everything
can run smoothly. Two methods of multiplexing (sharing) these resources; time multiplexing, and
space multiplexing. Using a computer which has several users, means that the importance and needs
of managing and protecting resources such as memory, and processing cores are even greater than
otherwise. This is because users would have to share files with each other which could potentially
end in disaster for end user. Multiplexing (sharing) of resources in the operating system is done in
two different ways, these are; time multiplexing, and space multiplexing. When time multiplexing a
resource, it involves the resources have different programs take turns in using them. So instead of

In order to encourage physical exercise in the generally increasing sedentary lifestyle of many
people, researchers from Intel and University of Washington [6] developed an "on–body sensing,

Intercultural Relationships Remain An Enduring And A...
Intercultural relationships remain an enduring and a fundamental necessity within the lives of young
people. The group comprising of Alven, Antanita and oneself provided a lesson plan for a culturally
diverse, co–educational class of year eleven students. It was the intent of the lesson to foster and
promote the positive perceptions that the children had already gained through the appreciation of
cultural diversity. The aim was for students to develop and open–minded approach to accept other
cultural beliefs and practices, and thus, avoiding a judgmental approach falling within a
stereotypical view. This allows the students to digress from a narrow–minded perspective and adopt

However, this class was linked to year eleven, comprising of 16 and 17 year olds. This gave rise to
considerable discussion, as the group believed that the ideal time to learn values is more appropriate
during adolescence, such as years seven or eight. After a considerable reflection it was deduced that
to a degree it is true that in partying knowledge and values upon younger students is both more
effective and easier, as at this age they are more impressionable and accepting of new ideals.
However, learning is not a an end product and the intent of the lesson was more about nurturing the
ideas that the students have already subconsciously gained, whilst aiming to foster and enhance
these values, in order for them to emerge consciously enriched. The teachings of Sankey and Kim
(2013) under the umbrella of the Dynamic System Theory greatly influenced these decisions, were

age group does not quantify the need to disenfranchise themselves from moral development.
The makeup of the lesson was divided into two interrelated activities that were designed towards the
developmental needs of the students as well as the importance of multicultural relations. The
activities also did not shun away from their own significant pedagogical issues, specifically
deducing ways in which to achieve an

Healthcare is becoming a global issue while the world's population is expanding and standard of
living is rising. In 2011, according to United Nations Development Programme's Human

health, the improvement in healthcare is necessary because the world witnessed a dramatic growth
in the aging population as well as the outbreak of the pandemics in the recent centuries. Not only
that, these trends will continue in the coming years. While the pressure on healthcare and social

scenarios of the past. Based on that, the system can provide a suggestion for the diabetes patients to

context–aware technology can be used to offer support for the decision–making by the ability of
collecting data automatically. Without doubt, with the information overload today, using context

area but also in other fields such as business, sports or even military. Most of the literature has
focused on remote patient monitoring. This is becoming vital in healthcare quality in recent years
because of the benefits that it brings. Preuveneers and Berbers (2008, p.177) highlight that a

individuals who suffer diabetes to make better choices or to manage their health independently. As a

Monody Context
Quetext
About Widget FAQ Contact
The concept of monody was detrimental in the progression of music from the Renaissance era into
the Baroque, shaping operatic arias into what we know them to be. Monody is a musical texture
consisting of a single solo voice, supported by a free instrumental bass line. The voice line is often
simple yet ornate, using embellishments to motivate the ideas of the libretto. Whilst having simple
chordal accompaniment – usually played on a lute, harpsichord, guitar or harp – the listener can be
focused on the text and meaning of the recitative and aria. Two of the more noteworthy

Caccini's 1602 piece 'Amarilli mia bella' from Le nuove musiche. Caccini spent most of his life in
Florence, Italy – said to be the heart of Baroque music. He spent a lot of his time as not just a
composer and singer of the Medici court, but also a spy for the youngest son of the Grand Duke of
Tuscany, Pietro de'Medici. Caccini was supported by other Florentine nobles, one being Giovanni

"The Political Context"
Describe how the Founder's conception of the Constitution (reflected in Madison's arguments)
influenced the evolution of American public administration.
In Madison's arguments he wanted the powers in the departments to be sufficient, flaw less, and
have it where the different departments kept each other in their appropriate position. With this being
said, Madison believed that his observations would be able to place these powers within the
departments into a more proper judgmental structure. In order to properly do this, the Founder's had
to be able to implement the proper foundation for this to be successful. Madison stated that he

Zimbardo Context
a) The nature of the situation; why, how, and who creates the situation.
Before exploring the nature of the situation, we need to distinguish between a situation, a context,
and a structure. For this purpose, I will use the example of a theatre play.
A play presents people facing diverse situations. The purpose of the play defines the audience and
the settings; its elements and its roles such as goods, services, characters, environment. And even
their quantity and quality. In this sense, several situations create the play, and those situations occur
in different settings that we can call contexts. Similarly, all the contexts develop on a stage; the
structure. But there is a macrostructure that contains the stage; the theater, which is the medium to
present the play. Hence, as unpleasant as it is, using the theater play as a metaphor, it is possible to
put the holocaust as a play in where Eichmann performed one of the main roles. And according to
the evidence presented during the trial, the stage director was an entity formed by the German
organizations; the Storm Troopers (SA), Security Service (SD), Gestapo and above all the SS
(Rhodes, 2002). The final solution was the main script of the play wrote by Hitler. However,
knowing the author of the play doesn't explain how its succeeded. This is the point that Zimbardo
overlooks. His analysis focuses at the micro level; the stage level. He ... Show more content on

Before going further and avoid the institutionalization trap, we need to take a step backward. To
exist, a theater requires; people demanding for entertainment (demand), to direct their need to
entertain, to limit their choices to satisfy it (supply) and to make it legal. Therefore, the social
demands produced by the socio–economic arrangements, allowed by the political economy, not only
produce institutions, but also define their success. The same occurred with the

Context Is All
The statement "context is all" states that all truth is dependent on context, where context refers to the
circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, through which the truth can be
understood and assessed. In the Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma textbook that was utilized
in our TOK class, Dr. Van de Laagment showed that one cannot purely rely on context to receive
truth since it does not give the true meaning of what a person is saying. Therefore, context is all in
most cases, except when the context of the knowledge is wrong. The statement, "context is all" is
demonstrated by the area of knowledge of natural science. In my IB Physics Standard Level classes,
we learned concepts that were often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Art seems to have a limited amount of context relative to other areas of knowledge and can refute
the statement "Context is all". One can argue that there is no context in which to perceive a piece of
artwork since the perceiver may not know the artist's intentions. For example, Italian renaissance
artist: Leonardo de Vinci, had created a painting which he entitled Last Supper, which would be
perceived differently by someone who is of the Roman Catholic faith as opposed to someone who is
atheist and may not be aware of the Last Supper and its significance to the religion of Catholicism.
The intention of de Vinci was to have the perceiver view the painting as the Last Supper, as the last
time that Jesus would have a meal before he was betrayed and eventually crucified. Alternatively, an
atheist without prior knowledge – or context – of the Last Supper, this person may be aware that it is
Jesus and his apostles, however, he or she would not understand the true significance of the piece of
work and how the previous context of this work connects with the interpretation. This idea,
however, can be countered by saying that the viewer – although does not have the context from the
artist – has personal context to interpret a work. The interpretation that the perceiver carries is the
context that the interpreter would need to analyze the painting. Therefore, viewing the painting in
the atheist perspective, the significance of the painting would be contrasted. In the area of
knowledge of art, not only visual arts involve some context in order to obtain knowledge, the
musical arts requires context as well. For music, there are many ways to interpret a musical piece
dependent upon the mood and influences that the perceiver or even the composer has. Listening to a
piece that utilizes the music genre of surf would be overlooked by a person unaware of the context
of the music genre,

Low Vs. High Context
LOW VERSUS HIGH CONTEXT
Introduction:
In a universe of expanding worldwide cooperation, the need to perceive significant cutural contrasts
is discriminating. The pervasive way of cultural qualities and conventions is beginning to pick up
legitimacy on strategic and formative fronts. Yet over–dependence on cultural definitions as a
method for comprehension each other is a dubious move; societies can be progressive and social
conduct deluding. The thought that culture is static alternately impenetrable to impact causes to be
reinvestigated the advancing qualities and declarations of huge numbers of the world 's societies.
Beginning communications between altogether different cultures give understanding into the
development of social standards and the effects those cultures may have had on each other.
Low contextculture is a term utilized by anthropologist Edward T. Corridor in 1976 to portray a
correspondence style that depends intensely on express and direct dialect.
Definition :
Anthropologist Edward T Hall was the first to examine and characterize a low context society. In his
1976 book titled Beyond Culture, Hall depicted a low context culture as a culture that conveys data
in a direct way that depends primarily on words. Low setting societies don 't depend on relevant
components (i.e., the speaker 's manner of speaking or non–verbal communication) to impart data.
They take a more straightforward and unequivocal methodology. This is as opposed to a high setting

The Social Penetration Theory: Summarized and Identified
Using Research, Media and A Personal Example
Intro
If one was asked to describe the social penetration theory, the best example would be an onion. Just
as an onion requires its layers to be exposed to reach the core, social penetration requires a similar
type of unraveling. The social penetration theory deals with the progressive disclosure of one's true
self to others and the world. Individuals have many layers that ultimately combine to form a shield
that protects the true self at the core (Tang and Wang, 2012). In recent years social penetration has
been examined through many virtual interactions due to the digital age. In a study conducted by Jih–

found that bloggers disclose more to their best friends versus parents and online users. The study
concluded that bloggers are more open in their private lives than they are on the web.
Media
Furthermore, social penetration is depicted in our everyday lives through the interactions we have
with others and how others interact with people. We indirectly learn about social penetration through
different forms of media such as books, videos, news, and most importantly films. Films provide a
reflection how to effectively and ineffectively disclose information. An example of a film that
depicts the social penetration theory would be 21 Jump Street directed by Phil Lord and Chris
Miller. In the film Jonah Hill plays an undercover cop named Schmidt who develops feelings for a
character named Molly. The scene that clearly shows good social penetration is when Schmidt
develops enough courage to call Molly and have a conversation with her. In the scene Schmidt is in
his room and uses his cell phone to call Molly. She picks up and immediately asks who is on the
other line, before Schmidt can respond his mother gets on the line and tries to make a phone call.

Romans In Context
The purpose behind this paper is to offer a brief review on a book called "Reading Romans in
Context: Paul and Second Temple Judaism" . This review will focus on four major components, first
being the editor's information. The editor's information will cover education, any positions they hold
today, and whatever scholarship information that is currently available. The second thing that will be
reviewed will be a concise summary of the major theme of the book followed by the third, an honest
and courteous evaluation of the book. The fourth thing that will be added is a bibliography at the end
of the paper for reference of the book.
One of the first editors on the book's list is Benjamin Blackwell, PhD. He currently holds a position
at the Houston Baptist University where he is in the Department of Theology and School of
Christian Thought. It is in these departments where he helps to teach students with the primary focus
of the New Testament and in Theology. In these classes, he particularly likes to specialize in helping
the students to understand how Christians from different time periods read the Bible differently and
what the importance of the Bible is in both ancient and modern contexts. Dr. Blackwell's educational
background ties well into both his current positions and in his editing practices. His educational
background consists of many degrees, starting with a Doctorate in Philosophy in both the New
Testament and in Historical Theology from Durham University in

In mobile environments, An efficient way of improving the usability of mobile services and
applications is to adapt the contents and presentation of services to the user and his/her current
context so that the amount of user interaction will be minimized when the user has a quick access to
the information or services that the user need in current context of use. Context refers to the
environment in which the Smartphone is present such that the information of such environment can
be used to characterize the situation of an entity. For example, the group of users is currently with
the types of equipment and communications technology available, and a user's physical location. For
example, a mobile user may wish to deliver an e–mail to automatically at the earliest possible
opportunity or to deliver according to a specific situation, removing the need to return periodically
to the personal desk–top to check for new mail. As the user moves, a context–aware e–mail delivery

suitability way for delivering e–mail. Another example is that a user attempting to contact a

Episodic Health Challenge Within the Context of Family
Family refers to a "set of relationships that each patient identifies as family or as a network of
individuals who influence each other's lives" (West & Jakubec, 2014, p.274). In nursing, it is
considered that individuals cannot be completely understood in solitude but instead are better
comprehended within the context of their family, as a shift in one member's health status impacts
other members of the family (West & Jakubec, 2014). Moreover, each individual's thoughts about
health and health–related behaviours evolve out of his or her family's beliefs, values, and practices

chronic heart failure. Heart failure is defined as diminished cardiac pumping or filling. It presents as
ventricular dysfunction, reduced exercise tolerance, decreased quality of life, and a shorter life span
(Bouffard, 2014). Left–sided heart failure, which is most prevalent, is caused by left ventricular
dysfunction and results in blood moving back up into the left atrium and then into the pulmonary
veins. This results in increased pulmonary capillary pressure and development of pleural effusion
(Bouffard, 2014). Dyspnea, also known as shortness of breath, is often a symptom of chronic heart
failure. It results from elevated pulmonary pressure that is due to fluid accumulation in the
interstitial and alveolar space (Bouffard, 2014).

Cultural Diversity : Differences Between High- And Low...
Cultural Diversity: Differences between high– and low–context cultures
A culture of any region provides a complete framework to its inhabitants to how to organize
themselves, their actions and thoughts with respect to their environment. Thus culture is not innate;
instead it is learned by the people as they continue to live in that particular region. This culture
drives their thinking, actions and basically all kinds of interaction with their surroundings. Thus, it is
different for different areas and people from these areas learn different ways to interact by each
other(Neuliep, 2015).Moreover, people from different cultures differ from each other because of
their context in which they move about. This context plays an important role in providing meaning
to their interaction. There are some things that cannot be understood by verbal words alone; they
have to be justified by the context in which they exist. This has been argued by Edward Hall,
according to whom, "context carries varying proportions of the meaning" (Gamsrieglerm, 2005).
Because of these differences in interaction due to differences in the context in which these people
exist, culture has been divided into two sub–categories. One is high–context culture and the other is
low–context culture. These two terms are used to refer to the differences in culture between different
societies because of the difference in context, and have been suggested by a well–known U.S.
anthropologist Edward T. Hall (Hofstede, 2011).

Needs Assessment Model Comparison Project:
Triad Comparison
Needs Assessment is an area of science, theory, and methods, which is also an essential intricate
element implemented in numerous contexts, integrated in multiple frameworks and models of
learning, performance, and needs, to be implemented systematically, effectively, efficiently, and
objectively (Altschuld & Kumar, 2010; Altschuld & Watkins, 2014; Gilbert, 1967, 1978; Rummler
& Brache, 1992). Needs assessment at the most basic level is gathering information of issues or
problems in order to provide a solution; Altschuld and Kumar state this as deciding the required
level of performance, subtracting the actual performance, and discovering the area of need (2010).
Needs assessment has been defined as the formal procedure of recognizing and defining gaps
between present levels and preferred goals, prioritizing the needs founded on the costs to fulfill each

they have placed themselves in this act. Tracy and Trethewey (2005) present the argument of a

portray at any given time, of course depending on the context. They state "discourses work to 'fix'

citizen is constructed to let the participants/performers know that the identity that is being presented

Abstract
People from different countries communicate in ways that often lead to misunder–standings. Our
argument, based on Hall's theory of high/low context cultures (1959, 1966, 1976, 1983), is that these
differences are related to different communication cultures. We argue that Japan and Finland belong
to high context cultures, while In–dia is closer to a low context culture with certain high context

Cultural issues mean certain societal factors, such as the country's status, history, religion and
traditions. Cultural issues also include Hofstede's (2008) individualism vs. collectivism dimension.
Communication style in a high vs. low context culture
In HC cultures, communication style is influenced by the closeness of human rela–tionships, well–
structured social hierarchy, and strong behavioural norms (Kim et al., 1998, p. 512). In a high
context (HC) culture, internal meaning is usually embedded deep in the information, so not
everything is explicitly stated in writing or when spo–ken. In an HC culture, the listener is expected
to be able to read "between the lines", to understand the unsaid, thanks to his or her background
knowledge. Hall (1976, p. 91) emphasised that "a high–context communication or message is one in
which most of the information is either in the physical context or internalised in the person, while
very little is in the coded, explicit, or transmitted part of the message".
In an HC culture, people tend to speak one after another in a linear way, so the speaker is seldom
interrupted. Communication is, according to Gudykunst and Ting–Toomey (1988), indirect,
ambiguous, harmonious, reserved and understated. In an HC culture, communication involves more
of the information in the physical context or internalised in the person; greater confidence is placed
in the non–verbal aspects of communication than the verbal aspects (Hall,

and mathematical problem solving was looked at to understand it more in regards to situations and

strategies come about. The goal of the study being to characterize contexts and situations that give
rise to metacognitive activity.
The author states that previous research has shown that good problem solvers engage in

same time research shows there has been little evidence of metacognitive activity of poor problem
solvers. Also noted in regards to poor problem solvers is that some metacognitive activity is only
evident during the early phases of problem. There have been research efforts which utilize these
results, focusing on improving problem solving by identifying specific metacognitive behaviors.
The author also states that additional research on metacognition regarding mathematical problem
solving focuses primarily on metacognitive awareness, regulation, and evaluation.
The Authors mention that very little research has been published in mathematics education literature
focusing on metacognitive activity in regards to how students select metacognitive strategies. Is it

Historical Context
The act of dividing history into separate sections is often the focus of debate amongst historians.
Historians have a common understanding for these divisions of time which assist in providing a
platform for which to explore beyond. "Critical history should be as much concerned with
contrastive fields and rejections of the norm as with similarities. But the conventional must be
known before the unconventional can be recognized." This notion described by Alastair Fowler will
ultimately result in a defined focus on the minute variances within history. Therefore, subdividing
history into these periods will assist in finding idiosyncrasies of the composer's from that era. This
consensus offers a generalised idea of the social context that is crucial ... Show more content on

Furthermore, studying history, which entails encompassing ideologies, has caused additional
confusion in regard to the parameters of individual terms. Although a comprehensive focus to detail
is produced from periodization, important factors are left unidentified leading to crucial links
missing from the timeline of music history. The social, political and economical aspects associated
with these musical periods are often broad and neglect the occasional shifts in these factors. Period
terms produces additional difficulty when analysing a particular composer with regard to determine
individuality. These overlooked shifts are concealed by the generalised notions of the societal
discourse present within a certain period. Ralph Cohen states that "change and development in
literary texts ought to be analysed in terms of their genre over a period of time, the duration of
which is, in turn, determined by identifiable changes in the texts belonging to that particular genre."
Similarly, Mattix expands on this point and indicates that it would be more beneficial to think of
history in regard to changes within genres rather than in arbitrary period terms. Therefore, both
Mattix and Cohen advocate this method as a substitute focal point as opposed to a focus on the
period. This perception when studying music history will effectively assist in contrasting the
characteristics of the composers and compositions as well as build a greater understanding of the
music, composers and sociological factors. This, consequently, creates a gap in the transformation of
music and divides these segments of time even further. Further confusion is created between
historians and, an authors credibility can become undone as the result. Therefore, music history
should not be limited to confined segmentations so as to allow historians to explored purposely

Context Of Safeguarding

  • 1. Context Of Safeguarding When talking about child protection in reference to safeguarding it is about more than just identifying child abuse. When people think about safe guarding and child protection people automatically think about physical child abuse. Safeguarding comes down to more than that, it is also about ensuring children are protected in all aspects, everything from their living conditions, health to educational needs. Practitioners must look at all of these aspects, in order to protect children and young people's educational needs schools and any other agencies, such as doctors, consultants, speech therapists, physio therapists need to come together and the multi–agencies then need to ensure specific needs are being identified and then catered to accordingly, ... • 3. Context Measurements My research this week focuses on the importance of context measurements, (Spitzer, 2007). Measurements are a part of our daily life, we use measurements to establish goals, create motivation and track our progress, (Spitzer, 2007). Without measurements, we have nothing to base our direction, define our path or develop milestones in our progression, (Spitzer, 2007). Measurements our critical to advancing our position and being competitive not only in athletic endeavors but in our developing organizations. Measurements are critical to remain competitive, establish baselines and create new levels of productivity, (Spitzer, 2007). According to the author, measurements are usually viewed in a negative light, (Spitzer, 2007). Our perception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking the wrong measurements can have a negative impact on the outcome due to inaccuracy or wrong direction. Organizations are renowned for measuring every aspect of the company by acquiring copious amounts of useless data that many cannot explain. Sometimes, the data collected can be misleading and clouds our vision causing misdirection in productive outcomes. According to the author, there are two types of measurements, the first being motivational and the second is informational, (Spitzer, 2007). Motivational is geared towards rewards, which can be measured by productivity and or performance, (Spitzer, 2007). Rewards are a part of life, every employee strives to be awarded for good work, (Spitzer, 2007). Unfortunately, this drive to earn awards can be too strong thus shadowing things that are important. Awards can also affect change; an employee will not embrace change even in the best interest of the organization if it deters from receiving awards, (Spitzer, 2007). Awards can easily be the demise of many organizations when not measured correctly, (Spitzer, 2007). An example of this would be to give monetary awards for exceeding established production levels per piece versus set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technological innovation As Southern Dental grows rapidly, technological advances can mean both a cost and a saving to us. On one hand, our Practices depend on new technologies and as a business we can not afford to fall behind our competitors. Old fashioned dentistry is now only a small part of our business, our bread and butter so to speak, mostly from our NHS contract. The real profit comes from the private and cosmetic dental work which relies heavily on latest technology and often expensive technological advances. Not only is Southern Dental expected to purchase that technology but needs to ensure that our employees are fully competent, knowledgeable and keep up to date with these. Our CEO recognizes that a sizable investment needs to be made to keep up to date and thus keep that mainstream of revenue flowing. On the other hand, technology also presents the business with some cost effective solutions. • 7. Sociocultural Context Humans are unique creatures simply due to the fact that every person grows up in a different environment. I know for a fact that the way I grew up is different compared to the way my friends grew up, and it is different compared to how others grew up and will grow up in the past and future. This paper covers the subject of sociocultural context, what it is, how it can impact a child, and how it impacted my own development. Before anything else, the term "Sociocultural context" must be defined. Sociocultural context is defined as "the physical, social, cultural, economic, and historical circumstances that make up any child's environment". (Siegler, DeLoache, & Eisenberg, 2014) It is a very broad term covering a wide variety of subjects that have the potential to impact a child's development either positively or negatively. Due to it being so broad, it is critical to give at least one example for each of these terms in the definition. An example of a physical environment is where someone physically grew up, and includes factors such as environment and one's physical house. (Siegler, et al. 2014) Social environment is who one grew up around, including friends, family, and educators. (Siegler, et al. 2014) Cultural environment refers to a set of beliefs, customs, practices and behavior that influence population. Economic circumstances refer to one's financial well–being; and historical circumstances refer to the time that one grew up in and the historical events that one was ... Context– Production contexts– "Finding out the acknowledged motivations of those involved in production." (pg. 93) Distribution contexts– "The two main contexts are space and time, where the text is being read and when it is being read." Production contexts, distribution contexts, and audience contexts. Production context is the study of how texts are produced; in this case, looking at this ad, it was not something difficult to create, most likely created by 1–3 people, printed off and posted. When looking at distribution contexts, space is an important element. Different types of media are located in different "spaces", in this case this poster is located in a university in order to affect the texts intended meaning. Audience contexts are the study of how audiences use and make sense of the text. There are two types of audiences in this case, the inscribed reader and the actual reader. The inscribed reader is who the media is deliberately addressed too, which in this case is most likely university students, typically ones that consume alcohol. The actual reader is anyone else who comes across this poster, which could be anyone from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social Context: In order to see the broader social context we must need to understand first what social context actually is? Social context is the indirect and direct influence of individuals that are in constant communication. It is basically a social environment in which people of different type lives. This environment influences the life of an individual and tells us how these people are influenced by their society i–e. a group of people sharing a same culture, tradition, religion or territory. • 13. The Simple Gift Analysis Through studying texts one can gain a greater understanding of how individuals can transition into more prosperous and positive phases of life as well into new and differing social contexts. This is explored in the texts The Simple Gift composed by Steven Herrick, as Billy transitions into a new life in the town of Bendarat and in Jasper Jones as Charlie develops new outlooks in his life and moves into social contexts he would have once perceived as taboo. Through the portrayal of transitions in these texts, the responder gains a wider perception how circumstances can create transitions into new phases of life and gain a greater understanding of contrasting social contexts. Transitions can result in entering new social contexts, resulting in a new phase of life in which a positive outlook on life is attained. Herrick is able to convey this in The Simple Gift as Billy needs to transition into a more satisfying and fulfilling life through entering a completely new social context. Assonance and profanity in "each deadbeat no–hoper s–thole lonely downtrodden house" emphasises and drives home his resentment for his current social context and highlights the need for Billy to transition into a new stage in his life, while the use of first person in "I'm not proud, I'm sixteen and soon to be homeless" foreshadows that from Billy's point of view transition is going to be of a confronting nature. A stark contrast is seen between this description and that of Billy's use of positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Using Cloud Storage And Collaboration Solutions Over the last several years, there has been a shift in how technology is designed, produced, and utilized. Historically, technology was produced in low quantities for a high cost, limiting the customer base to corporations and few wealthy individuals. Today, many technologies are produced in high quantities for a cost that is affordable to individual consumers (Banerjee, 2012). As these technologies become increasingly affordable, more are beginning to originate in the consumer sector. Consumers soon found uses for these technologies in business, and over time, these personal products have been increasingly infiltrating the corporate environment. This trend is referred to as "Consumerization" (Weiß and Leimeister). Consumerization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This produces an additional shift where organizations need to figure out how to secure company data as network perimeters become more blurred. Context–aware security offers the potential to better secure this dynamic business environment. It goes beyond merely trusting that a person should be granted access to an object because they know a password; it considers additional contextual information to ensure an action is secure. This information may include location, time, sensitivity of content, strength of authentication or encryption, reputation of a URL or IP address, historical patterns of behavior, or health of the operating system (MacDonald). Context–aware security systems, while a viable option to help strengthen security in environments influenced by consumerization, is not without its challenges. A key challenge is ensuring that only quality context is being used. Quality of context (QoC) can be defined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Circles Of Context Usually when I am told to read a verse in the Bible, I just read that verse and using the information that specific verse provided, I take a guess at what that verse is saying or explaining. Little did I know that because I was reading just one verse alone, I was probably misinterpreting it. The circles of context were invented to help with this problem. We first look at the immediate text, then we can look at the rest of the book, now we can look at the introductions' of this book and others by the same author. • 21. The Context Of Stanislavski Methods: A very important aspect to Stanislavski's methods was subtext. He really wanted actors to pick up the underlying text of the dialogue being said. He wanted the actors to not say the subtext but show it through body movements, pauses in speech, gestures, etc. This is what was the main element for speaking to the audience, the subtext was something the audience could not read, it was something they had to pick up from viewing. In Chekhov's plays silence was one of the main forms of subtext, as it would enrich the scene. This also builds a connection with the audience because the subtext is almost as if there is a secret between the audience and the character and no else knows it but them. Thus heightening the audience's interest in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... International Business And Multinational Corporations The end of the 1980s experienced a visible change experienced in the literature concerning MNE functions and nature of business (Segal–Horn and Faulkner, 2010). Before 1980s, the main research in MNE field was about analyzing relation between affiliates and headquarters of the firm, and also decisions concerning making investment in foreign country, which was also experienced in Dunning's work. Their main aim is to maximize the competitive advantage for the particular MNE through integration of global activities and local differences within each foreign unit. In the modern perspective, two main theories, i.e. network–based theory and knowledge–based theory of MNE, are prevalent, which are explained hereunder (Forsgren, 2008). The most importance sources of competitive advantage for MNEs are their affiliates. This is because affiliates establish a deep–rooted and long–term connection with their local partners and through this new knowledge information can be established. Such knowledge is implicit and is inserted in a particular context. Inserted or embedded knowledge itself is implicit and is also specific to a context (Pedersen, 2014). It is also entrenched in the inter–dependent activities of the employees and staff members who observe shared experiences as well as values. These traits cause more complexity and confusions in terms of barriers for transferability of such knowledge (Stephan, 2013). This affiliate embeddedness in relation with stakeholders within the business network actually opposes business contact made traditionally, in which firm used to make connections with only consumers and suppliers and relation used to end with the exchange (Lundan, 2002). The teenflick Clueless directed by Amy Heckerling is a recontextualized transformation of the 19th century Emma by Jane Austen, which even though is a dramatic transformation, it still retains the ideas of the original text. The transformation of the idyllic country society of regency Highbury in Emma to the fast–paced world of modern Beverly Hills of Clueless, explores the socio–cultural values such as courtship and marriage which are challenged and redefined. Due to this, software development was significantly more difficult than it is today. Whilst having simple chordal accompaniment – usually played on a lute, harpsichord, guitar or harp – the listener can be focused on the text and meaning of the recitative and aria. Before exploring the nature of the situation, we need to distinguish between a situation, a context, and a structure. For this purpose, I will use the example of a theatre play. A play presents people facing diverse situations. The purpose of the play defines the audience and the settings; its elements and its roles such as goods, services, characters, environment. And even their quantity and quality. In this sense, several situations create the play, and those situations occur in different settings that we can call contexts. Similarly, all the contexts develop on a stage; the structure. But there is a macrostructure that contains the stage; the theater, which is the medium to present the play. Hence, as unpleasant as it is, using the theater play as a metaphor, it is possible to put the holocaust as a play in where Eichmann performed one of the main roles. And according to the evidence presented during the trial, the stage director was an entity formed by the German organizations; the Storm Troopers (SA), Security Service (SD), Gestapo and above all the SS (Rhodes, 2002). The final solution was the main script of the play wrote by Hitler. However, knowing the author of the play doesn't explain how its succeeded. This is the point that Zimbardo overlooks. Art seems to have a limited amount of context relative to other areas of knowledge and can refute the statement "Context is all". One can argue that there is no context in which to perceive a piece of artwork since the perceiver may not know the artist's intentions. For example, Italian renaissance artist: Leonardo de Vinci, had created a painting which he entitled Last Supper, which would be perceived differently by someone who is of the Roman Catholic faith as opposed to someone who is atheist and may not be aware of the Last Supper and its significance to the religion of Catholicism. The intention of de Vinci was to have the perceiver view the painting as the Last Supper, as the last time that Jesus would have a meal before he was betrayed and eventually crucified. Alternatively, an atheist without prior knowledge – or context – of the Last Supper, this person may be aware that it is Jesus and his apostles, however, he or she would not understand the true significance of the piece of work and how the previous context of this work connects with the interpretation. This idea, however, can be countered by saying that the viewer – although does not have the context from the artist – has personal context to interpret a work. The interpretation that the perceiver carries is the context that the interpreter would need to analyze the painting. Therefore, viewing the painting in the atheist perspective, the significance of the painting would be contrasted. In the area of knowledge of art, not only visual arts involve some context in order to obtain knowledge, the musical arts requires context as well. Thirdly, a context–aware system in health care systems is briefly described in section 1.3, and finally we discussed the adaptive of context–aware user interfaces . 1.1 Context–Aware framework In mobile environments, An efficient way of improving the usability of mobile services and applications is to adapt the contents and presentation of services to the user and his/her current context so that the amount of user interaction will be minimized when the user has a quick access to the information or services that the user need in current context of use. Context refers to the environment in which the Smartphone is present such that the information of such environment can be used to characterize the situation of an entity. For example, the group of users is currently with the types of equipment and communications technology available, and a user's physical location. For example, a mobile user may wish to deliver an e–mail to automatically at the earliest possible opportunity or to deliver according to a specific situation, removing the need to return periodically to the personal desk–top to check for new mail. As the user moves, a context–aware e–mail delivery application needs to know the situation of the user or the surrounding environment to determine the suitability way for delivering e–mail. Another example is that a user attempting to contact a colleague; a suitable context–aware application may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Context Of Family Episodic Health Challenge Within the Context of Family Family refers to a "set of relationships that each patient identifies as family or as a network of individuals who influence each other's lives" (West & Jakubec, 2014, p.274). In nursing, it is considered that individuals cannot be completely understood in solitude but instead are better comprehended within the context of their family, as a shift in one member's health status impacts other members of the family (West & Jakubec, 2014). Moreover, each individual's thoughts about health and health–related behaviours evolve out of his or her family's beliefs, values, and practices (Doane & Varcoe, 2005, 2006 as cited in West & Jakubec, 2014). M has an admitting diagnosis of acute dyspnea compounded by pleural effusion secondary to chronic heart failure. Heart failure is defined as diminished cardiac pumping or filling. It presents as ventricular dysfunction, reduced exercise tolerance, decreased quality of life, and a shorter life span (Bouffard, 2014). Left–sided heart failure, which is most prevalent, is caused by left ventricular dysfunction and results in blood moving back up into the left atrium and then into the pulmonary veins. This results in increased pulmonary capillary pressure and development of pleural effusion (Bouffard, 2014). Dyspnea, also known as shortness of breath, is often a symptom of chronic heart failure. It results from elevated pulmonary pressure that is due to fluid accumulation in the interstitial and alveolar space (Bouffard, 2014). Calgary Family Assessment Model The Calgary Family Assessment Model was designed to help nurses better grasp the "relationships that family members share, what the illness means to family members, how the illness has influenced family functioning, how the family has been affected by the illness, and the support that the family is most in need of" (Neabel et al., 2009; Wright & Leahy, 2009 as cited in West & Jakubec, 2014, p.278). • 62. Cultural Diversity : Differences Between High- And Low... Cultural Diversity: Differences between high– and low–context cultures A culture of any region provides a complete framework to its inhabitants to how to organize themselves, their actions and thoughts with respect to their environment. Thus culture is not innate; instead it is learned by the people as they continue to live in that particular region. This culture drives their thinking, actions and basically all kinds of interaction with their surroundings. Thus, it is different for different areas and people from these areas learn different ways to interact by each other(Neuliep, 2015).Moreover, people from different cultures differ from each other because of their context in which they move about. This context plays an important role in providing meaning to their interaction. There are some things that cannot be understood by verbal words alone; they have to be justified by the context in which they exist. This has been argued by Edward Hall, according to whom, "context carries varying proportions of the meaning" (Gamsrieglerm, 2005). Because of these differences in interaction due to differences in the context in which these people exist, culture has been divided into two sub–categories. One is high–context culture and the other is low–context culture. These two terms are used to refer to the differences in culture between different societies because of the difference in context, and have been suggested by a well–known U.S. anthropologist Edward T. Hall (Hofstede, 2011). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. Needs Assessment Model: Triad Comparison Project Needs Assessment Model Comparison Project: Triad Comparison Needs Assessment is an area of science, theory, and methods, which is also an essential intricate element implemented in numerous contexts, integrated in multiple frameworks and models of learning, performance, and needs, to be implemented systematically, effectively, efficiently, and objectively (Altschuld & Kumar, 2010; Altschuld & Watkins, 2014; Gilbert, 1967, 1978; Rummler & Brache, 1992). Needs assessment at the most basic level is gathering information of issues or problems in order to provide a solution; Altschuld and Kumar state this as deciding the required level of performance, subtracting the actual performance, and discovering the area of need (2010). Needs assessment has been defined as the formal procedure of recognizing and defining gaps between present levels and preferred goals, prioritizing the needs founded on the costs to fulfill each need against the cost for disregarding it, and choosing the most severe issues or prospects for lessening or removal ... Context Of Discourse Before analyzing the importance in the semantics in the conversations that are occurring between expressing the duality of citizenship, and duality in cultures, the importance of language in the context of discourse will be briefly explained. Language and its multiple uses, allows for discourse to be examined in ways that allows language as not only something that happens between conversations, but that also happens to people, in every day, any context talk. As James P. Gee (2014) states, "language allows us to do things; it allows us to engage in actions and activities" (p. 2). Tracy and Trethewey (2005) present the argument of a crystallized self, a term that explains that there are multiple self that the human being may choose to portray at any given time, of course depending on the context. They state "discourses work to 'fix' identities in particular ways that favor some interests over others and thus constrain alternative truths and subject positions," (p. 171). In this act or performance, the legal discourse of becoming a citizen is constructed to let the participants/performers know that the identity that is being presented to them is one that will reflectively aid the American citizen narrative they are to adopt. This is done while constraining the multiple, diverse identities or true personas of the participants. Communication Style and Cultural Features in High/Low Context Communication Cultures: A Case Study of Finland, Japan and India Shoji Nishimura1, Anne Nevgi2 and Seppo Tella3 1 Waseda University, Japan 2 Department of Education, University of Helsinki 3 Department of Applied Sciences of Education, University of Helsinki Abstract People from different countries communicate in ways that often lead to misunder–standings. Our argument, based on Hall's theory of high/low context cultures (1959, 1966, 1976, 1983), is that these differences are related to different communication cultures. We argue that Japan and Finland belong to high context cultures, while In–dia is closer to a low context culture with certain high context cultural features. ... Cultural issues also include Hofstede's (2008) individualism vs. collectivism dimension. Communication style in a high vs. low context culture In HC cultures, communication style is influenced by the closeness of human rela–tionships, well– structured social hierarchy, and strong behavioural norms (Kim et al., 1998, p. 512). In a high context (HC) culture, internal meaning is usually embedded deep in the information, so not everything is explicitly stated in writing or when spo–ken. In an HC culture, the listener is expected to be able to read "between the lines", to understand the unsaid, thanks to his or her background knowledge. Hall (1976, p. 91) emphasised that "a high–context communication or message is one in which most of the information is either in the physical context or internalised in the person, while very little is in the coded, explicit, or transmitted part of the message". In an HC culture, people tend to speak one after another in a linear way, so the speaker is seldom interrupted. Communication is, according to Gudykunst and Ting–Toomey (1988), indirect, ambiguous, harmonious, reserved and understated. In an HC culture, communication involves more of the information in the physical context or internalised in the person; greater confidence is placed in the non–verbal aspects of communication than the verbal aspects (Hall, ... • 73. A Research Study On Metacognitive Behavior, Regulation,... Through the use of a small mathematical modeling group the relationship between metacognition and mathematical problem solving was looked at to understand it more in regards to situations and contexts without prompting by teacher. This article questions how the selections of metacognitive strategies come about. The goal of the study being to characterize contexts and situations that give rise to metacognitive activity. The author states that previous research has shown that good problem solvers engage in metacognitive activity throughout various phases of problem–solving. It is also stated that at the same time research shows there has been little evidence of metacognitive activity of poor problem solvers. Also noted in regards to poor problem solvers is that some metacognitive activity is only evident during the early phases of problem. There have been research efforts which utilize these results, focusing on improving problem solving by identifying specific metacognitive behaviors. The author also states that additional research on metacognition regarding mathematical problem solving focuses primarily on metacognitive awareness, regulation, and evaluation. The Authors mention that very little research has been published in mathematics education literature focusing on metacognitive activity in regards to how students select metacognitive strategies. Is it that the student actually selects it or is it an unconscious act? Reference is given to Stillman and Galbraith (1998) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Historical Context The act of dividing history into separate sections is often the focus of debate amongst historians. Historians have a common understanding for these divisions of time which assist in providing a platform for which to explore beyond. "Critical history should be as much concerned with contrastive fields and rejections of the norm as with similarities. But the conventional must be known before the unconventional can be recognized." This notion described by Alastair Fowler will ultimately result in a defined focus on the minute variances within history. Therefore, subdividing history into these periods will assist in finding idiosyncrasies of the composer's from that era. Furthermore, studying history, which entails encompassing ideologies, has caused additional confusion in regard to the parameters of individual terms. Although a comprehensive focus to detail is produced from periodization, important factors are left unidentified leading to crucial links missing from the timeline of music history. The social, political and economical aspects associated with these musical periods are often broad and neglect the occasional shifts in these factors. Period terms produces additional difficulty when analysing a particular composer with regard to determine individuality. These overlooked shifts are concealed by the generalised notions of the societal discourse present within a certain period. Ralph Cohen states that "change and development in literary texts ought to be analysed in terms of their genre over a period of time, the duration of which is, in turn, determined by identifiable changes in the texts belonging to that particular genre." Similarly, Mattix expands on this point and indicates that it would be more beneficial to think of history in regard to changes within genres rather than in arbitrary period terms. Therefore, both Mattix and Cohen advocate this method as a substitute focal point as opposed to a focus on the period. This perception when studying music history will effectively assist in contrasting the characteristics of the composers and compositions as well as build a greater understanding of the music, composers and sociological factors. This, consequently, creates a gap in the transformation of music and divides these segments of time even further. Further confusion is created between historians and, an authors credibility can become undone as the result. Therefore, music history should not be limited to confined segmentations so as to allow historians to explored purposely without the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
