2. Henry’s inspiration
• Henry was inspired to take on the challenge of
Hunger 500 after attacking the World Hunger
Summit in 2010.
• Heard of normal people performing
extraordinary tasks to promote awareness of
hunger
• From these, he was inspired to help out
others through this method.
3. Training for the run
• Consisted of six months of training
– A fair amount of running, weight training, agility
work, core training and speed training.
• Goal was to not only be a good runner, but to
be well rounded to handle the unknowns that
may occur during the run.
• Prepared mentally for the challenges that
might occur and to handle optimism and
perseverance well.
4. History of Hunger 500
• Henry created Hunger 500 after attending the
5th Annual World Hunger Summit at Auburn
University.
– Met ordinary people who tried to raise awareness
for hunger at local, national and even global
levels.
– Was inspired by the people and their actions.
– Was unsatisfied that although there was enough
food production for everyone on the Earth, but
some were malnourished.
5. Impact of the Hunger 500
• The UAB School of Public Health, Nestlé
Canada and the University of Guelph, is
sponsoring his journey. Henry has raised
almost $10,000 in addition to the
sponsorships he’s received for equipment and
food.
• His mission has now partnered with several
other hunger-focused organizations, including
Bread for the World, Impossible2Possible and
the Alliance to End Hunger.
