2. • Joe Henry was inspire by people of the world helping
needy people. He gave his money and time to help the
people.
• He trying to achieve running 500 miles.
• He will run for 17 days averaging 30 miles per day and
end at the 6th Annual Universities Fighting World Hunger
(UFWH) Summit at the University of Guelph in Ontario,
Canada.
• Joe will run a staggering 500 miles from Washington,
D.C. to the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario,
Canada.
3. • Henry and the aptly named Hunger 500 Team are
committed to raising awareness and $100,000 to fight
world hunger.
• This money can potentially feed 25,000 school children
one meal with WFP’s School Meals Program.
4. • Many people has not enough food to eat.
• Started in 2004, the UFWH is an international initiative
formed as a partnership between the United Nations
World Food Programme and Auburn University. Since its
formation, the coalition has expanded to include more
than 150 universities in the fight against hunger and
malnutrition worldwide. UAB’s student chapter of the
UFWH was founded in 2010.
