4. The Effects of Hunger
Hunger and malnutrition can affect both the physical and mental health of
people
● Protein energy malnutrition, iron deficiency, anemia, iodine, zinc, and
other vitamin deficiencies in early childhood can cause brain
impairment
○ And in some cases blindness
Cognitive Effects of Hunger
● Children experiencing chronic hunger could develop learning
disabilities or other cognitive impairments
● Many kids will have trouble focusing in an academic setting due to a
lack of energy and motivation
5. Mission Statement
Working together with passionate volunteers, donors, and partners
against worldwide hunger through food distribution and nutrition
education for the long term stability of malnourished peoples.
6. The Matter At Hand
● In the World, around 815 million people do not
have enough of the food they need to live an
active, healthy life.
● One in every nine people go to bed hungry
each night, including 20 million people currently
at risk of famine in South Sudan, Somalia, Yemen
What causes Hunger?

● The logistics of our plan will change depending
on the location of the community we serve

17. “How can you keep the program
restricted to only those truly in need?”
WE WON’T.
- Restrict participants = setting a cut off point
- Setting cut off = 🚫
- People right above cut off🚫
- People that fit but have no proof🚫
- Cut off -> “come here if you're poor” -> bad
stigma

Poverty is the principal cause of hunger. The causes of poverty include poor people's lack of resources, an extremely unequal income distribution in the world and within specific countries, conflict, and hunger itself. In 2010, an estimated 7.6 million children-more than 20,000 a day-died.
We envision an operation that deals with world hunger head on. One that, instead of just feeding the malnourished, actually helps teach them to provide for themselves. The plan is to teach the people in developing countries to cultivate their own crops and perhaps, in time, to produce their own goods. This in turn will spur on the growth of their economy.

“One of the worst things about being homeless is the constant feelings of inferiority and isolation. A little acceptance and friendliness goes a long way towards boosting confidence and improving lives.”
